The uranium content and activity ratio A234U/A238U were determined in open ocean water, marine plankton, marine algae and sea water in the environment in which plankton and algae live. The average uranium content of 3.34±0.28×10−6 g/l and the average activity ratio of 1.13±0.04 were obtained in open ocean water. The uranium contents in plankton and algae were respectively from 1.7 to 7.8×10−7 g/g and 0.4 to 23.5×10−7 g/g on dry basis with the respective concentration factors of 48 to 260 and 10 to 733. The activity ratio in plankton and algae ranged from 1.07 to 1.18 which coincided well with those in the environmental sea water.  相似文献

Clinopyroxenes from various lithologic units in a single tholeiitic dolerite intrusion 50 m thick were analysed with the electron microprobe. Microphenocrysts of augite in the chilled marginal rock have the least scattered CaMgFe ratios, around Ca38Mg50Fe12, and lowest Ti/Al ratios, less than 1/4, of the augites examined; they crystallized prior to emplacement. The augites which crystallized in situ are more Fe-rich and have higher Ti/Al ratios, close to 1/2. Pigeonite started crystallizing later than augite and formed rims to augite crystals. Continuous zoning from augite to subcalcic augite as was previously reported by Benson (1944) for the same dolerite is not observed. Subcaloic ferroaugites, however, link augite and ferropigeonite in the outermost margins of pyroxenes in the later segregations. The small scale differentiation in situ gave rise to globules, veins, and pegmatoids, in which sector-zoning of augite is well developed. The {100} sectors are enriched in MgSiO3, FeSiO3, and MnSiO3 components relative to the {010} and the {110} sectors, and are accordingly depleted in other components. The protosite theory of sector-zoning formation proposed by Nakamura (1973) is further developed and the environment which favours the development of sector-zoning is discussed. The formation of augite rims around quartz-rich xenoliths and the compositional characteristics of the augites concerned are due to local high silica activities. Comments are made concerning some lunar pyroxenes in the light of the present study.  相似文献

Located at southern coast of China, the Pearl River Delta (PRD) is facing serious water problems in both quantity and quality after its rapid urbanization in the last decade. Most remarkably, the local groundwater, that was used to be the source of drinking water before the urbanization was polluted due to poor management of the septic tanks. In order to study the effects of suburban development on local groundwater flow and water quality in the PRD region, Fengcun of Guangzhou has been chosen as the study area. In Fengcun, drinking water was groundwater before the 1990s, but now piped reservoir water is used by each family because the groundwater has been polluted. This study clarifies the source and process of the groundwater pollution from septic tanks using isotopic and geochemical characteristics, especially nitrate (NO3?) concentrations. Water samples were collected from the wells and ponds in Fengcun in March and July 2005 and in July 2006. Based on the pe–pH diagram, NO3? and ammonium of groundwater are from the effect of human activities, rather than from nitrification and ammonification of N2. NO3? pollution of groundwater is from point sources, and NO3? concentrations decrease from northeast to southwest. Groundwater is polluted rapidly by the leakage of septic tanks. NO3? concentrations of pollution sources were lower than 20 mg l?1 in March 2005, but had increased to about 120 mg l?1 in July 2006. In order to examine pressure–volume–temperature (PVT) relations for CaSiO3 perovskite (Ca-perovskite), high-temperature compression experiments with in situ X-ray diffraction were performed in a laser-heated diamond anvil cell (DAC) to 127 GPa and 2,300 K. We also employed an external heating system in the DAC in order to obtain PV data at a moderate temperature of 700 K up to 113 GPa, which is the reference temperature for constructing an equation of state. The PV data at 700 K were fitted to the second-order Birch–Murnaghan equation of state, yielding K 700,1bar = 207 ± 4 GPa and V 700,1bar = 46.5 ± 0.1 Å3. Thermal pressure terms were evaluated in the framework of the Mie–Grüneisen–Debye model, yielding γ 700,1bar = 2.7 ± 0.3, q 700,1bar = 1.2 ± 0.8, and θ 700,1bar = 1,300 ± 500 K. A thermodynamic thermal pressure model was also employed, yielding α700,1bar = 5.7 ± 0.5 × 10?5/K and (?K/?T) V  = ?0.010 ± 0.004 GPa/K. Computed densities along a lower mantle geotherm demonstrate that Ca-perovskite is denser than the surrounding lower mantle, suggesting that Ca-perovskite-rich rocks do not rise up through the lower mantle. One of such rocks might be a residue of partial melting of subducted mid-oceanic ridge basalt (MORB) at the base of the mantle. Since the partial melt is FeO-rich and therefore denser than the mantle, all the components of subducted MORB may not return to shallow levels.  相似文献

Compression behaviors of two Al-rich phases in the lower mantle, hexagonal new aluminum-rich (NAL) phase and its high-pressure polymorph Ca-ferrite-type (CF) phase, were examined for identical Na0.4Mg0.6Al1.6Si0.4O4 (40?% NaAlSiO4–60?% MgAl2O4) composition. The volumes of the NAL and CF phases were obtained at room temperature up to 31 and 134?GPa, respectively, by a combination of laser-annealed diamond-anvil cell techniques and synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements. Fitting of the third-order Birch–Murnaghan equation of state to such pressure–volume data yields bulk modulus K 0?=?199(6) GPa at 1?bar and its pressure derivative K 0′?=?5.0(6) for the NAL phase and K 0?=?169(5) GPa and K 0′?=?6.3(3) for the CF phase. These results indicate that the bulk modulus increases from 397 to 407 GPa across the phase transition from the NAL to CF phase at 43 GPa, where the NAL phase completely transforms into the CF phase on Na0.4Mg0.6Al1.6Si0.4O4. Density also increases by 2.1?% across the phase transition.  相似文献

Proper management of groundwater resources requires knowledge of the processes of recharge and discharge associated with a groundwater basin. Such processes have been identified in the Jakarta groundwater basin, Indonesia using a theory that describes the simultaneous transfer of heat and fluid in a porous medium. Temperature-depth profiles in monitoring wells are used to determine the geothermal gradient. To examine the rules of groundwater flow in the distortion of the isotherms in this area, several methods are compared. Subsurface temperature distribution is strongly affected by heat advection due to groundwater flow. Under natural flow conditions, the recharge area is assumed to occur in the hills and uplands, which are located on the periphery of the Jakarta basin, and the discharge area is located in the central and northern part of the Jakarta groundwater basin. A transition area, which could act as local recharge and discharge areas, occupies the middle of the lowland. Subsurface temperatures show good correlation with the groundwater flow conditions, and the data yield important information on the location of recharge and discharge areas.  相似文献

Late Miocene (7–9 Ma) basaltic rocks from the Monbetsu‐Kamishihoro graben in northeast Hokkaido have chemical affinities to certain back‐arc basin basalts (referred to herein as Hokkaido BABB). Pb‐, Nd‐ and Sr‐isotopic compositions of the Hokkaido BABB and arc‐type volcanic rocks (11–13 Ma and 4–4.5 Ma) from the nearby region indicate mixing between the depleted mantle and an EM II‐like enriched component (e.g. subducted pelagic sediment) in the magma generation. At a given 87Sr/86Sr, Hokkaido BABB have slightly lower 143Nd/144Nd and slightly less radiogenic 206Pb/204Pb compared with associated arc‐type lavas, but both these suites are difficult to distinguish solely on the basis of isotopic compositions. These isotopic data indicate that while generation of the Hokkaido BABB involves smaller amounts of the EM II‐like enriched component than do associated arc lavas, Hokkaido BABB are isotopically distinct from basalts produced at normal back‐arc basin spreading centers. Instead, northeast Hokkaido BABB are more similar to basalts erupted during the initial rifting stage of back‐arc basins. The Monbetsu‐Kamishihoro graben may have developed in association with extension that formed the Kurile Basin, suggesting that opening of the basin continued until late Miocene (7–9 Ma).  相似文献

Magnetotelluric (MT) measurements were conducted at Iwate volcano, across the entirety of the mountain, in 1997, 1999, 2003, 2006, and 2007. The survey line was 18 km in length and oriented E–W, comprising 38 measurements sites. Following 2D inversion, we obtained the resistivity structure to a depth of 4 km. The surface resistive layer (~ several hundreds of meters thick) is underlain by extensive highly conductive zones. Based on drilling data, the bottom of the highly conductive zone is interpreted to represent the 200 °C isotherm, below which (i.e., at higher temperatures) conductive clay minerals (smectite) are rare. The high conductivity is therefore mainly attributed to the presence of hydrothermally altered clay. The focus of this study is a resistive body beneath the Onigajo (West-Iwate) caldera at depths of 0.5–3 km. This body appears to have impeded magmatic fluid ascent during the 1998 volcanic unrest, as inferred from geodetic data. Both tectonic and low-frequency earthquakes are sparsely distributed throughout this resistive body. We interpret this resistive body as a zone of old, solidified intrusive magma with temperatures in excess of 200 °C. Given that a similar relationship between a resistive body and subsurface volcanic activity has been suggested for Asama volcano, structural controls on subsurface magmatic fluid movement may be a common phenomenon at shallow levels beneath volcanoes.  相似文献
