The dehydrogenation of cyclohexane was carried out at temperatures between 120 and 200°C over the mixture of a PtAl2O3 catalyst and a hydrogen storage alloy in order to test the function of the alloy for the acceleration of the dehydrogenation reaction at lower temperatures. Among the alloys examined (iron-, nickel- and magnesium-based alloys), CaNi5 showed the highest acceleration effect. The higher the initial rate of hydrogen absorption, the higher the acceleration effect of the alloy. The effect decreased with time, but was recovered when the gaseous phase was purged with nitrogen at 150°C. No catalytic activity was observed on the alloys. The effect was much higher at lower temperatures.  相似文献

In this paper, a Hebbian learning rule restraining “catastrophic forgetting” is proposed on a pulsed neural network (PNN) with leaky integrate‐and‐fire neurons. The strong point of this learning rule is that a learning of new pattern does not destroy past ones, and that an efficient use of synapses is enabled. First, in order to consider the function of the learning rule, a fundamental experiment is carried out. Next, to compare the performance between the proposed learning rule and conventional ones on the application, simulation experiments are examined using autonomous behavior robots which are forced to learn concurrently two different environments. The results of the experiments show that the proposed learning rule clearly restrains “catastrophic forgetting” and enables working of more efficient than conventional PNN learning. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) levels were measured in the serum (sTNF-alpha) or bone marrow (BM) biopsies of 43 patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) who subsequently received therapy with a combination of pentoxifylline and ciprofloxacin (PC) with or without dexamethasone (PCD). All 43 patients received only PC therapy for 12 weeks, after which 18 of 36 nonresponders received PCD. A total of 18 of 43 patients showed a hematologic or cytogenetic response or both. BM TNF-alpha levels were semiquantitatively assessed using immunohistochemistry on a scale of 0-8+ and in the serum using enzyme linked immunoassay. The median TNF-alpha for the entire group was 3.0 in BM and 6.9 pg/ml in the serum, and 14 patients had no detectable levels. Responders had higher BM levels (median 3.5 vs. 2.0) than nonresponders, although this was not statistically significant. During PC therapy, a decline in BM TNF-alpha level was seen in the entire group, which was significant at 2 weeks (p = 0.02), 8 weeks (p = 0.001), and 12 weeks (p = 0.0001). Both responders (p = 0.01) and nonresponders (p = 0.03) had a decline at 8 weeks, but at 12 weeks, only the responders continued to show a significant decline (p = 0.03). We conclude that MDS patients with high BM TNF-alpa levels have a better chance of responding to PCD therapy and that the therapy is quite successful in reducing the TNF-alpha levels in a sustained fashion. Future studies need to be directed at identifying agents that would be more potent suppressors of the proapoptotic cytokines in these patients.  相似文献

A series of 2H- and 13C-labeled glutamates were used as substrates for coenzyme B12-dependent glutamate mutase, which equilibrates (S)-glutamate with (2S,3S)-3-methylaspartate. These compounds contained the isotopes at C-2, C-3, or C-4 of the carbon chain: [2-2H], [3,3-2H2], [4,4-2H2], [2,3,3,4,4-2H5], [2-13C], [3-13C], and [4-13C]glutamate. Each reaction was monitored by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and revealed a similar signal characterized by g'xy = 2.1, g'z = 1.985, and A' = 5.0 mT. The interpretation of the spectral data was aided by simulations which gave close agreement with experiment. This approach underpinned the idea of the formation of a radical pair, consisting of cob(II)alamin interacting with an organic radical at a distance of 6.6 +/- 0.9 A. Comparison of the hyperfine couplings observed with unlabeled glutamate with those from the labeled glutamates enabled a principal contributor to the radical pair to be identified as the 4-glutamyl radical. These findings support the currently accepted mechanism for the glutamate mutase reaction, i.e., the process is initiated through hydrogen atom abstraction from C-4 of glutamate by the 5'-deoxyadenosyl radical, which is derived by homolysis of the Co-C sigma-bond of coenzyme B12.  相似文献

The melting of a vertical ice cylinder into a homogeneous calcium chloride aqueous solution inside a rotating cylindrical cavity with several rotating speeds is considered experimentally. The melting mass and temperature are measured on four initial conditions of the solution and four rotating speeds of the cavity. The temperature of the liquid layer becomes uniform by the mixing effect resulting from cavity rotation and it enhances the melting rate of the ice cylinder. As the cavity‐rotating speed increases, the melting rate increases. The dimensionless melting mass is related to the Fourier number and the rotating Reynolds number in each initial condition, therefore an experimental equation that is able to quantitatively calculate the dimensionless melting mass is presented. It is seen that the melting Nusselt numbers increase again in the middle of the melting process. The ice cylinder continues to melt in spite of the small temperature difference between the ice cylinder and the solution. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The dependence of the electron spin resonance signal intensity on the microwave magnetic field was investigated for amorphous silicon prepared by r.f. sputtering. The spin-lattice and the spin relaxation times T1 and T2 were determined by a new saturation method. As a result it is suggested that the electron spin resonance linewidth is determined by g-factor anisotropy, that T2 is 10–100 times longer than the T12 determined from the linewidth, that T1 for samples annealed at below about 250°C is proportional to T-1.9 and that most of the spins for samples annealed at above 400°C are probably due to dangling bonds in amorphous regions surrounding crystallites newly produced in the process of crystallization.  相似文献

The pipelines used in a ship amount to tens of thousands of metres per ship, and so automatic welding of the pipelines has been widely applied from the viewpoint of saving labour. In most cases the automatic welding process has been used for the welding of butt-joints which can be applied to the pipes in rotary motion, and it has also been used for fillet-welding of the connection between flange and piping. In the butt-welding of fixed pipings, automatic welding processes are now being partly used for position welding but up to the present time automatic welding has seldom been applied to the various types of branch pipe joints in which the welded lines form three-dimensional curves.In recent years, great progress has been made in the technique of constructing steel pipe structures and in the development of practical gas cutting processes to prepare the curves needed for the various welded joints used in piping. This paper deals with various conditions and performance requirements needed for automatic welding, such as the selection of shapes of prepared edges of pipings to be welded, the control of welding positions, the control of welding torches in operation, and the solution and control of other production variables.  相似文献
