The potential of fluorescence fingerprint (FF) spectroscopy was investigated to develop a nondestructive prediction method of aerobic plate count on a beef surface. Sixty samples (e.g., 30 lean meat slices each of Australian cattle and Japanese cattle) stored aerobically at 15 °C were analyzed by front-face fluorescence spectrophotometry. FF and aerobic plate count (APC) were measured after 0, 12, 24, 36, and 48 h of storage. FFs were collected in both excitation and emission wavelength ranges of 200–900 nm. Partial least-squares regression (PLSR) performed on an FF dataset predicted an APC in the bacterial contamination load range from 1.7 to 7.8 log?colony-forming units (cfu)/cm2 with a prediction error of 0.752 log cfu/cm2. The regions where the regression coefficient of the PLSR model was relatively high were consistent with those of the FF peaks of five intrinsic fluorophores: tryptophan, NAD(P)H, vitamin A, porphyrins, and flavins. This suggests that changes in the autofluorescence of these intrinsic fluorophores due to the metabolism of bacterial flora on meat are reflected in the PLSR model for predicting APC from the FF dataset. Growth factors play important roles in tissue regeneration. However, because of their instability and diffusible nature, improvements in their performance would be desirable for therapeutic applications. Conferring binding affinities would be one way to improve their applicability. Here we review techniques for conjugating growth factors to polypeptides with particular affinities. Conjugation has been designed at the level of gene fusion and of polypeptide ligation. We evaluated the allergen inactivating effect of colloidal silica by performing enzyme-liked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) whose wells were coated with 150 ng/mL of Japanese cedar pollen allergen (Cry j 1) or mite allergen (Der f 2). The allergens were almost 100% inactivated by 100 microg/mL of colloidal silica having a particle size 5 nm, and the inactivating effect was increased by aluminum binding to the surface of the colloidal silica. The results show that colloidal silica is a promising material for allergen inactivation. Since colloidal silica forms an insoluble nondispersive solid when dried, it is expected that airborne allergens can be reduced by binding them to colloidal silica. 相似文献

Ionic liquids composed of a hydrophobic anion, tetrakis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate (TFPB-), and various aromatic and aliphatic ammonium have been prepared. TFPB salts of N-octadecylisoquinolinium (C18Iq+) and trioctylmethylammonium (TOMA+) show low melting points of 31 and 36 degrees C, respectively, whereas TFPB-based ionic liquids of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium with the alkyl chain length of 5-12 show melting points lower than 90 degrees C. The [C(18)Iq][TFPB]|water (W) and [TOMA][TFPB]|W interfaces have the polarized potential window (ppw) of 0.8 V at 56 degrees C, which is twice as wide as the ppw at the interface between W and room-temperature ionic liquids of bis(perfluoroalkylsulfonyl)imide so far reported. The extension of the ppw by more than 0.4 V to the positive direction enables voltammetric measurements of the ion transfer of relatively hydrophobic anions such as bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide and bis(pentafluoroethylsulfonyl)imide and of hydrophilic cations such as tetraethylammonium and acetylcholine ions. 相似文献

Safety light curtains provide reliable and cost‐effective protection against access into hazardous points or areas. However, in practice, peopl still need to adjust the light detection element accurately in order to receive the safe amount of irradiating laser light. In our proposed system, we utilized light emitting diodes (LEDs) as the light source, and designed two hemispherical mirrors to receive the LED light, and used PSoC microcomputer to determine the threshold voltage value. Compared with recent market products, the proposed system is freely configurable, and with no dead zone detection. In addition, compared to the laser light, the LED light has the advantages of no radiation, small electropult, low‐cost, and high efficiency. After conducting sufficient experiments, the proposed system has been found to successfully detect the intruder with 100% recognition rate, which can meet the needs of industrialization. © 2013 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. The effect of lubricants on deep drawability was studied for two types of zinc-coated steel sheets on a high-speed deep-drawing machine. The drawability of galvannealed steel sheet, GA, at low speeds is significantly improved by friction modifiers, due to reduction in frictional forces around the die radius. In contrast to the results for GA, double layered steel, GAE, which has an Fe-rich alloy coating on the top, and is superior to GA in terms of drawability, is insensitive to changes in the additives. This is mainly because the hardness of the upper coating layer of GAE decreases frictional resistance through a decline in the boundary contact area. 相似文献
