Rapid industrialization and urbanization has led to increasing input of chemical contaminants into the aquatic environment of Malaysia. Despite the threat civilization poses to the biota, there are still very few relevant studies on ecotoxicological testing of river ecosystems. To overcome this knowledge gap, we examined lethal and genotoxic effects of sediments from different rivers of the northern Malaysia against Chironomus kiiensis, a group well represented in the aquatic fauna of this region. We exposed the larvae to sediments from Selama River (SR), Permatang Rawa River (PRR) and Kilang Ubi River (KUR) at various durations (0, 6, 12, 24 and 48 h). The larval mortality was monitored, whereas DNA damage in survivors' cells was determined using the comet assay. Pollution level indexed by the amounts of heavy metals and other organic contaminants in the sediment showed progressive increases from SR to PRR to KUR. Highly polluted sediments (PRR to KUR) were detrimental to C. kiiensis larvae, most of which did not survive following exposure for long periods. DNA analyses revealed greater damages in nuclei derived from larvae maintained on polluted sediments, in particular, those from KUR. The effects on the genomic material of C. kiiensis larvae occurred in a time‐dependent manner, with damage level increasing as exposure time progressed. Our results highlight the genotoxic properties of polluted sediments. More importantly, this study showed that C. kiiensis larvae could respond to different levels of pollution with respect to exposure time. The catalyst has a significant role in gas processing applications such as reforming technologies for H2 and syngas production. The stable catalyst is requisite for any industrial catalysis application to make it commercially viable. Several methods are employed to synthesize the catalysts. However, there is still a challenge to achieve a controlled morphology and pure catalyst which majorly influences the catalytic activity in reforming applications. The conventional methods are expansive, and the removal of the impurities are major challenges. Nevertheless, it is not straightforward to achieve the desired structure and stability. Therefore, significant interest has been developed on the advanced techniques to take control of the physicochemical properties of the catalyst through non-thermal plasma (NTP) techniques. In this review, the systematic evolution of the catalyst synthesis using NTP technique is elucidated. The emerging DBD plasma to synthesized and effective surface treatment is reviewed. DBD plasma synthesized catalyst performance in reforming application for H2 and syngas production is summarised. Furthermore, the status of DBD plasma for catalyst synthesis and proposed future avenues to design environmentally suitable and cost-effective synthesis techniques are discussed.  相似文献

Sodium potassium niobate (KNN) is the most promising candidate for lead-free piezoelectric material, owing to its high Curie temperature and piezoelectric coefficients among the non-lead piezoelectric. Numerous studies have been carried out to enhance piezoelectric properties of KNN through composition design. This research studied the effects of yttrium concentrations and lattice site occupancy preference in KNN films. For this research, the yttrium-doped KNN thin films (mol% = 0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9) were fabricated using the sol-gel spin coating technique and had revealed the orthorhombic perovskite structures. Based on the replacement of Y3+ ions for K+/ Na+ ions, it was found that the films doped with 0.1 to 0.5 mol% of yttrium had less lattice strain, while films with more than 0.5 mol% of Y3+ ions had increased strain due to the tendency of Y3+ to occupy the B-site in the perovskite lattice. Furthermore, by analysing the vibrational attributes of octahedron bonding, the dopant occupancy at A-site and B-site lattices could be identified. O-Nb-O bonding was asymmetric and became distorted due to the B-site occupancy of yttrium dopants at high dopant concentrations of >0.5 mol%. Extra conduction electrons had resulted in better resistivity of 2.153× 106 Ω at 0.5 mol%, while higher resistivity was recorded for films prepared with higher concentration of more than 0.5 mol%. The introduction of Y3+ improved the grain distribution of KNN structure. Further investigations indicated that yttrium enhances the surface smoothness of the films. However, at high concentrations (0.9 mol%), the yttrium increases the roughness of the surface. Within the studied range of Y3+ , the film with 0.5 mol% Y3+ represented a relatively desirable improvement in dielectric loss, tan δ and quality factor, Qm.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the effect of noisy channels on the transient performance of diffusion adaptive network with least‐mean squares (LMS) learning rule. We first drive the update equation of diffusion LMS which incorporates the effects of noisy channels. Then, using the framework of fundamental weighted energy conservation relation, we derive closed‐form expressions for learning curves in terms of mean‐square deviation and excess mean‐square error. We also find the mean and mean‐square stability bounds of step‐size for diffusion LMS with noisy channels. We show that although noisy channels affect the performance of the diffusion LMS network, the stability bounds of the step‐size are the same form as in the ideal channels case. This paper presents the design of nonlinear servo systems using the fuzzy method. The idea behind this control method is to divide the operating region of a nonlinear system into a collection of local linear servo control systems and apply the fuzzy method for calculation of the control input. The control input of each local linear servo system is calculated using the Davison–Smith method and the Hikita pole assignment method. We can prove that all states of the fuzzy servo system are bounded and that the output errors converge to zero by the Lyapunov method. Simulations on a nonlinear mass‐spring‐damper system illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

Evolutions rooted in technology in market arena, business, and demands reforms in supply chain and consequently more demands for created value by end user are among factors causing reforms on management of supply chain. Integrity of supply chain activities and utilized technologies is an essential factor to survive competitions in the market. Organizations, therefore, need to adopt policies to coordinate themselves with new arena in market and electronic commerce. Despite bad news from Iran tail industries about unplanned production, the industry is still in growing path. In addition to easy access to mineral resources and low-energy costs, which have made it quite reasonable to invest in the industry, state tariff policies for imported tail products have made new investment chances in the industry. As a result, Iran recently won a position among five leading counties in world tail industry. However, knowing about high profit margin in tail industries, many countries have stepped into the market and through producing high-quality products have intensified competition in the market. This study tries to identify and assess IT indexes in Iran tail industry’s supply chain and hopes to take a step forward to gain better market position in international market by prioritizing the indexes using fuzzy logic.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of vibro-acoustic modeling and simulation using the finite element and the boundary element methods for the free piston engine structure. A model of the engine was constructed through the use of finite element software to perform a normal mode analysis of the engine structure. The objective was to determine the mode shapes and the natural frequency that contribute to engine structure vibration. Theoretical development of the engine balance motion and frequency response was also conducted. From the simulation and finite element analysis, the force response pattern of the engine vibration was determined and then compared with its natural frequency. The vibration data were used as the input data for noise analysis using the boundary element method. The integration of the finite element and the boundary element determined the noise-frequency data of the engine structure toward the occurrence of engine noise. The information can be used by designers to analyze engine specifications and structure, especially at the preliminary design stage.  相似文献

This article investigates the tribological behavior of nanoparticles (NPs) of titanium dioxide anatase TiO2 (A), graphene, and TiO2 (A) + graphene added to the pure base oil group ΙΙ (PBO-GΙΙ). The morphology of these two nanostructures of TiO2 (A) and graphene was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Oleic acid (OA) was blended as a surfactant into the formulation to help stabilize the NPs in the lubricant oil. A four-ball test rig was used to determine the tribological performance of six different samples, and an image acquisition system was used to examine and measure the wear scar diameter of the stationary balls. Field emission–scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) was used to examine the wear morphology. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), element mapping, and Raman spectroscopy were employed to confirm the presence of (TiO2 (A) + graphene) and the formation of a tribolayer/film on the mating surfaces. Moreover, a 3D optical surface texture analyzer was utilized to investigate the scar topography and tribological performance. The experiments proved that adding (0.4?wt% TiO2 (A) + 0.2?wt% graphene) to the PBO-GΙΙ optimized its tribological behavior. These excellent results can be attributed to the dual additive effect and the formation of a tribofilm of NPs during sliding motion. Furthermore, the average reductions in the coefficient of friction (COF), wear scar diameter (WSD), and specific wear rate (SWR) were 38.83, 36.78, and 15.78%, respectively, for (0.4?wt% TiO2 (A) + 0.2?wt% graphene) nanolubricant compared to plain PBO-GΙΙ lubricant.  相似文献
