When multimedia information is transported over a packet-switched network, the quality of presentation can be degraded due
to network delay variation or jitter. This paper presents a dejittering scheme that can be used in the transport of MPEG-4
and MPEG-2 video to absorb any introduced network jitter, thus preserving the presentation quality of transported media streams.
The dejittering scheme is based on the statistical approximation of delay variation in the arrival times of video packets
carrying encoded clock reference values and a filtering and re-stamping mechanism. In addition, a brief overview of the MPEG-4

General form application is a very important issue in industrial design. Prototyping a design helps in determining system parameters, ranges and in structuring better systems. Robotics is one of the industrial design fields in which prototyping is crucial for improved functionality. Developing an environment that enables optimal and flexible design using reconfigurable links, joints, actuators and sensors is essential for using robots in the education and industrial fields. We propose a PC-based software package to control, monitor, and simulate a generic 6-DOF (six degrees of freedom) robot including a spherical wrist. In this paper, we propose to use Harman, Croft and Okapi measures with Lesk algorithm to develop a system for Arabic word sense disambiguation, that combines unsupervised and knowledge based methods. This system must solve the lexical semantic ambiguity in Arabic language. The information retrieval measures are used to estimate the most relevant sense of the ambiguous word, by returning a semantic coherence score corresponding to the context that is semantically closest to the original sentence containing the ambiguous word. The Lesk algorithm is used to assign and select the adequate sense from those proposed by the information retrieval measures mentioned above. This selection is based on a comparison between the glosses of the word to be disambiguated, and its different contexts of use extracted from a corpus. Our experimental study proves that using of Lesk algorithm with Harman, Croft, and Okapi measures allows us to obtain an accuracy rate of 73%. 相似文献

A new interconnection network is proposed for the construction of a massively parallel computer system. The systematic construction of this interconnection network, denoted RCC-FULL, is performed by methodically connecting together a number of basic atoms where a basic atom is a set of fully interconnected nodes. Key communication characteristics are derived and evaluated for RCC-FULL and efficient routing algorithms, which need only local information to route messages between any two nodes, are also derived. AnO(log (N)) sorting algorithm is shown for RCC-FULL and RCC-FULL is shown to emulate deterministically the CRCW PRAM model, with onlyO(log (N)) degradation in time performance. Finally, the hardware cost for the RCC-FULL is estimated as a function of its pin requirements and compared to that of the binary hypercube and most instances of RCC-FULL have substantially lower cost. Hence, RCC-FULL appears to be a particularly effective network for PRAM emulation, and might be considered as a universal network for future supercomputing systems. 相似文献

Management of program data to improve data locality and reduce false sharing is critical for scaling performance on NUMA shared memory multiprocessors. We use HPF-like data decomposition directives to partition and place arrays in data-parallel applications on Hector, a shared-memory NUMA multiprocessor. We describe a compiler system for automating the partitioning and placement of arrays. The compiler exploits Hectors shared memory architecture to efficiently implement distributed arrays. Experimental results from a prototype implementation demonstrate the effectiveness of these techniques. They also demonstrate the magnitude of the performance improvement attainable when our compiler-based data management schemes are used instead of operating system data management policies; performance improves by up to a factor of 5. 相似文献

In this article, a multilayered substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) Butler matrix beam‐forming network is proposed, designed, and demonstrated at 24 GHz for automotive radar system applications. The proposed low‐cost SIW structure can be used to develop a highly integrated multibeam antenna platform in automotive radar systems and other applications. In this structure, an SIW H‐plane coupler is optimized with an H‐plane slit to provide the required phase shift. A class of SIW E‐plane 3‐dB couplers in doubled layer substrate are studied and designed as the fundamental building blocks to avoid crossovers usually required in the construction of a Butler matrix. A 4 × 4 matrix is investigated and designed, which shows excellent performance over 22–26 GHz frequency band. Two types of antenna are tested with the proposed matrix scheme. First, an antipodal linearly tapered slot antenna (ALTSA) is incorporated into the Butler matrix to verify the broadband performances. Second, a longitudinal slotted waveguide antenna array is examined to generate radiation patterns in the broadside direction. Measured results agree well with simulated counterparts, thus validating the proposed multilayer SIW design concepts. Aggregates are the biggest contributor to concrete volume and are a crucial parameter in dictating its mechanical properties. As such, a detailed experimental investigation was carried out to evaluate the effect of sand-to-aggregate volume ratio (s/a) on the mechanical properties of concrete utilizing both destructive and non-destructive testing (employing UPV (ultrasonic pulse velocity) measurements). For investigation, standard cylindrical concrete samples were made with different s/a (0.36, 0.40, 0.44, 0.48, 0.52, and 0.56), cement content (340 and 450 kg/m3), water-to-cement ratio (0.45 and 0.50), and maximum aggregate size (12 and 19 mm). The effect of these design parameters on the 7, 14, and 28 d compressive strength, tensile strength, elastic modulus, and UPV of concrete were assessed. The careful analysis demonstrates that aggregate proportions and size need to be optimized for formulating mix designs; optimum ratios of s/a were found to be 0.40 and 0.44 for the maximum aggregate size of 12 and 19 mm, respectively, irrespective of the W/C (water-to-cement) and cement content. 相似文献

This paper describes the design, implementation, and experimental evaluation of a modular and extensible Java? Virtual Machine (JVM) infrastructure, called Jupiter. The infrastructure is intended to serve as a vehicle for our research on scalable JVM architectures for a cluster of PC workstations, with support for shared memory in software. Jupiter is constructed, using a building block architecture, out of many modules with small, simple interfaces. This flexible structure, similar to UNIX® shells that build complex command pipelines out of discrete programs, allows the rapid prototyping of our research ideas by confining changes in JVM design to a small number of modules. In spite of this flexibility, Jupiter delivers good performance. Experimental evaluation of the current implementation of Jupiter using the SPECjvm98 and the EPCC Java Grande single‐threaded and multithreaded benchmarks reflects competitive performance. Jupiter is on average about 2.5 times faster than Kaffe and about 2 times slower than the Sun Microsystems JDK (interpreter versions only). By providing a flexible JVM infrastructure that delivers competitive performance, we believe we have developed a framework that supports further research into JVM scalability.
