The effects of plant and yeast cerebrosides on melanin formation were examined in B16 mouse melanoma cells. Addition of yeast cerebroside significantly reduced melanin content to the same level as that of arbutin in control cells, although there was no suppression by plant cerebrosides and bovine brain cerebroside up-regulated melanin formation. None of the bovine brain cerebrosides examined had any effect on tyrosinase activity, but yeast cerebroside reduced the contents of tyrosinase. The results of the present study clearly showed that melanin formation is regulated by several different cerebrosides via tyrosinase. In addition, the findings presented here suggest that cerebrosides containing a 9-methyl type sphingoid base, such as yeast cerebroside, may be useful as skincare products for suppressing melanin formation. 相似文献

A hybrid simulation was carried out using discrete variational (DV) Xα molecular orbital and molecular dynamics methods to examine the storage of hydrogen in metal nanoparticles. The calculation load was light and therefore could be performed quickly on a generic personal computer. The simulation investigates the electronic states of hydrogen on Pd and Ti nanoparticles. The hydrogen dissociation behavior on the metal surface was reproduced, and the calculated bonding orbitals of Pd and hydrogen are consistent with other reports. The diffusion coefficient of hydrogen inside the metal displays the same temperature dependence as the theoretical results. This simplified calculation, which produces results in agreement with experimental/theoretical values, could lead to improved simulation methods for hydrogen storage materials. 相似文献

The mechanical properties of a fiber‐reinforced plastic are influenced by the adhesion between a reinforced fiber and a matrix resin. In this work it is shown how to obtain strong adhesion between a carbon yarn and an epoxy resin through the formation of covalent bonds. Acid amide groups reactive with epoxy groups were introduced onto a surface of the yarn by means of plasma‐graft polymerization of acrylamide. The density of active radicals formed on a surface of the yarn by the plasma irradiation was first increased with increasing discharge power and plasma irradiation time, and then the rates of the increase were largely decreased. The degree of grafting was linearly increased with increasing the surface density of active radicals. The yarn embedded in diglycidyl ether of bisphenol‐A/triethylenetetramine mixture was pulled out to obtain pull‐out force after curing. Pull‐out force was increased with increasing degree of grafting and the failure in pulling out of the yarn was cohesive. Diffusion rates of organic solvents and water into polycarbonate film were measured under saturated vapor, and the diffusion coefficients were determined by combining the finite element method and the least squares method. Ovarian cancers include several disease subtypes and patients often present with advanced metastatic disease and a poor prognosis. New biomarkers for early diagnosis and targeted therapy are, therefore, urgently required. This study uses antibodies produced locally in tumor-draining lymph nodes (ASC probes) of individual ovarian cancer patients to screen two separate protein microarray platforms and identify cognate tumor antigens. The resulting antigen profiles were unique for each individual cancer patient and were used to generate a 50-antigen custom microarray. Serum from a separate cohort of ovarian cancer patients encompassing four disease subtypes was screened on the custom array and we identified 28.8% of all ovarian cancers, with a higher sensitivity for mucinous (50.0%) and serous (40.0%) subtypes. Combining local and circulating antibodies with high-density protein microarrays can identify novel, patient-specific tumor-associated antigens that may have diagnostic, prognostic or therapeutic uses in ovarian cancer. 相似文献

Relationship between the miscibility of pressure‐sensitive adhesives (PSAs) acrylic copolymer/hydrogenated rosin systems and their performance (180° peel strength, probe tack, and holding power), which was measured over a wide range of time and temperature, were investigated. The miscible range of the blend system tended to become smaller as the molecular weight of the tackifier increased. In the case of miscible blend systems, the viscoelastic properties (such as the storage modulus and the loss modulus) shifted toward higher temperature or toward lower frequency and, at the same time, the pressure‐sensitive adhesive performance shifted toward the lower rate side as the Tg of the blend increased. In the case of acrylic copolymer/hydrogenated rosin acid systems, a somewhat unusual trend was observed in the relationship among the phase diagram, Tg, and the pressure‐sensitive adhesive performance. Tg of the blend was higher than that expected from Tgs of the pure components. This trend can be due to the presence of free carboxyl group in the tackifier resin. However, the phase diagram depended on the molecular weight of the tackifier. The pressure‐sensitive adhesive performance depended on the viscoelastic properties of the bulk phase. A few systems where a single Tg could be measured, despite the fact that two phases were observed microscopically, were found. The curve of the probe tack of this system shifted toward a lower rate side as the Tg increases. The degree of fatigue in ferritic wrought steel during cyclic bending was determined by analysis of diffracted SH ultrasonic waves with the aid of multiple regression analysis. As the degree of fatigue increases, accompanied by residual stress, the incident waves curve to the interior region with positive stress field owing to the acoustoelastic effect. As a result, the propagation time of the launched waves lengthens, leading to a modulation of the received waveform. Multiple regression analysis for the waveform modulation produces a reliable estimation, with correlation coefficient of 0.948, for the degree of fatigue. 相似文献

The influence of miscibility of an acrylic PSA and several tackifier resin systems upon PSA performance was investigated. When the acrylic copolymer and the resins were blended in various proportions, three types of mixing state were found: miscible system, partially miscible system and immiscible system. In the case of miscible systems, PSA performance (tack, peel strength and shear resistance) depended upon the viscoelastic properties of the PSA. In the case of completely immiscible systems, the above PSA performance depended primarily upon the viscoelastic properties of a continuous matrix phase, and the separated resin phase acted as a kind of filler. In the case of partially miscible systems, the PSA performance changed discontinuously at the resin concentration where phase separation occurred. It suggests that the phase structure of a PSA greatly influences the PSA's performance. 相似文献
