A holey fiber having a core with an elliptical-hole lattice structure, which is referred to as an elliptical-hole core circular-hole holey fiber (EC-CHF), can be easily designed as a single-polarization fiber by using the fundamental space-filling modes of the core and cladding lattices. However, because the guided mode in an EC-CHF has a polarization that arises from the large geometric anisotropy of the core lattice, the influence of the bending direction on the bending loss is a crucial issue for the practical implementation of EC-CHFs. Here, the bending losses of an EC-CHF bent in arbitrary angular orientations with respect to the core cross section are calculated numerically using the equivalent anisotropic step-index circular fiber model for a real EC-CHF, and the influence of the bending direction of the fiber on the bending loss is discussed.  相似文献

This paper discusses the feasibility of a vapor compression/absorption hybrid refrigeration cycle for energy saving and utilization of waste heat. The cycle employs propane as a natural refrigerant and a refrigeration oil as an absorbent. A prototype of the cycle is constructed, in which a compressor and an absorption unit are combined in series. The performance of the cycle is examined both theoretically and experimentally. Although the solubility of the propane with the oil is not enough as a working pair in the absorption unit, the theoretical calculation shows that the hybrid cycle has a potential to achieve a higher performance in comparison with a simple vapor compression cycle by using the waste heat. In the experiment, the prototype cycle is operated successfully and it is found that an improvement of an absorber is necessary to achieve the good performance close to the theoretical one. The application of an AHE (absorber heat exchanger) can reduce the heat input to a generator. Further examinations on some other combinations of refrigerant/refrigeration oil and additives are desirable.  相似文献

We demonstrated the fabrication of thin-film thermoelectric generators and evaluated their generation properties using solar light as a thermal source. Thin-film elements of Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 (p-type) and Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 (n-type), which were patterned using the lift-off technique, were deposited on glass substrates using radiofrequency magnetron sputtering. After annealing at 300°C, the average Seebeck coefficients of p- and n-type films were 150???V/K and ?104???V/K, respectively, at 50°C to 75°C. A cylindrical lens was used to focus solar light to a line shape onto the hot side of the thin-film thermoelectric module with 15 p?Cn junctions. The minimum width of line-shaped solar light was 0.8?mm with solar concentration of 12.5 suns. We studied the properties of thermoelectric modules with different-sized p?Cn junctions on the hot side, and obtained maximum open voltage and power values of 140?mV and 0.7???W, respectively, for a module with 0.5-mm p?Cn junctions. The conversion efficiency was 8.75?×?10?4%, which was approximately equal to the value estimated by the finite-element method.  相似文献

Quantum discord is studied for two-qubit systems with different settings under the influence of the Bloch channel which is characterized by the longitudinal and transversal relaxation times and the environmental temperature. The relaxation of the quantum discord strongly depends on the ratio of the two relaxation times and the environmental temperature. It is found that the ratio of the quantum discord to the total correlation becomes finite or zero asymptotically, depending on the ratio of the relaxation times and the system setting. Furthermore, the optimal setting for sharing the quantum discord is discussed for given environmental temperature and ratio of the relaxation times.  相似文献

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have deficits in adaptive behavior, slow rates of learning, and behavior disorders that interfere with learning or place them or others at risk. Since the 1960s, researchers and clinicians in the field of applied behavior analysis have used methods based on principles of learning to increase adaptive behavior and decrease the occurrence of behavior disorders of individuals with IDD. This article provides an overview of assessment and treatment strategies used in behavior analysis to effect positive changes in the quality of life for individuals with IDD and presents an illustrative case study. A method to detect slip frequency from rotor slot harmonics of a three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor is proposed. The rotor slot harmonic voltage Is obtained by summing the three phase voltages, and after being sampled with a multiple of the stator frequency, it is changed into slip frequency waves, from which a voltage proportional to the slip frequency is obtained. Sophisticated sampling techniques allow elimination of the third harmonic voltage induced in the sum of the three-phase voltages and also allow reduction of time constant of the slip frequency detector. Expenmental results show that the slip frequency detector has a good linearity in the range of slip frequency of about -50 to +30 percent of the stator frequency.  相似文献

We describe a new structure of guided-mode resonant grating (GMRG) filters with low sideband reflectance. This GMRG filter consists of a high-index thin film on an antireflective structured surface called "moth-eye structure." Since the high-index film undulates along the surface structure, the film acts as a modulated optical waveguide. An incident light wave satisfying a resonant condition is reflected by the GMRG filter, and nonresonant light waves pass through the filter. This GMRG filter is valid for reducing reflection of nonresonant light waves in a wide spectral range. The resonant reflection of this new filter was investigated by numerical calculation based on an electromagnetic grating analysis. In the case of a triangular antireflective surface structure whose thickness is 2x greater than its period, the sideband reflectance for nonresonant light waves was lower than 0.5% for TM-polarized light in a wide range of wavelengths.  相似文献

This paper describes approaches for machine learning of context free grammars (CFGs) from positive and negative sample strings, which are implemented in Synapse system. The grammatical inference consists of a rule generation by “inductive CYK algorithm,” mechanisms for incremental learning, and search. Inductive CYK algorithm generates minimum production rules required for parsing positive samples, when the bottom-up parsing by CYK algorithm does not succeed. The incremental learning is used not only for synthesizing grammars by giving the system positive strings in the order of their length but also for learning grammars from other similar grammars. Synapse can synthesize fundamental ambiguous and unambiguous CFGs including nontrivial grammars such as the set of strings not of the form ww with w∈{a,b}+.  相似文献
