This paper describes a study on the contribution of linguistically-informed features to the task of quality estimation for machine translation at sentence level. A standard regression algorithm is used to build models using a combination of linguistic and non-linguistic features extracted from the input text and its machine translation. Experiments with three English–Spanish translation datasets show that linguistic features on their own are not able to outperform shallower features based on statistics from the input text, its translation and additional corpora. However, further analysis suggests that linguistic information can be useful to produce better results if carefully combined with other features. An in-depth analysis of the results highlights a number of issues related to the use of linguistic features. 相似文献

The authors report the fabrication and characterization of active waveguides in GeO2–PbO–Ga2O3 glass samples doped with Er3+, written with a femtosecond laser delivering pulses of 150 fs duration at 1 kHz repetition rate. Permanent refractive index change was obtained and waveguides were formed under different laser pulse energies and scan velocities. The passive and active optical properties of the waveguides were investigated. The minimum value of propagation loss was of 4.8 dB/cm. Optical amplification at 1.5 μm under 980 nm excitation was observed showing a maximal internal gain of 2.7 dB/cm. 相似文献

Computer Simulation will play an important role in future changes in Education. Here we will review how the Spanish National Project for Computers in Education, called Atenea, looks at Modelling and Simulation and how the first training courses for teachers, recommended by this project, are being carried out. We will give particular attention to the applications of the Simulation in the classroom using System Dynamics techniques. A real case study, developed by the pupils of a Simulation course for teachers, is outlined showing numerical and graphics results. In this paper we report on the design and validation process for the profiled corrugated horn antennas, which feed the bolometer array of a cosmology experiment known as QUaD located at the South Pole. This is a cosmic background radiation polarization project, which demands precise knowledge and control of the optical coupling to the signal in order to map the feeble E- and B-polarization mode structure. The system will operate in two millimeter wavelength bands at 100 and 150 GHz. The imaging horn array collects the incoming signal via on-axis front-end optics and a Cassegrain telescope, with a cold stop in front of the array to terminate side-lobe structure at an edge taper of ?20dB. The corrugated horn design process was undertaken using in-house analytical software tools, based on modal scattering, specially developed for millimeter -wave profiled horn antennas. An important part of the instrument development was the validation of the horn design, in particular to verify low edge taper levels and the required well-defined band edges.
