Ti–6Al–4V substrates have been coated by diamond-like carbon (DLC) films, with no surface pretreatment, and have been coated by Ti/MoS2 films, with a simple surface pre-cleaning. The DLC films were deposited by planar coil r.f. inductively-coupled plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (r.f. ICPECVD); the Ti/MoS2 films were deposited by magnetron sputtering. Both the DLC and Ti/MoS2 films were characterized by pull tests, hardness tests, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and wear tests (pin-on-disk and block-on-ring) to compare their adhesion, hardness, surface topology, and wear properties to plasma-sprayed Cu–Ni–In coating currently used for turbine engine applications. The DLC films were easily characterized by their optical properties because they were highly transparent. We used variable-angle spectroscopic ellipsometry (VASE) to characterize thickness and to unequivocally extract real and complex index of refraction, providing a rapid assessment of film quality. Thicker coatings yielded the largest hardness values. The DLC coatings did not require abrasive pretreatment or the formation of bond-layers to ensure good adhesion to the substrate. Simple surface pre-cleaning was also adequate to form well-adhered Ti/MoS2 on Ti–6Al–4V. The results show that the DLC and Ti/MoS2 coatings are both much better fretting- and wear-resistant coatings than plasma-sprayed Cu–Ni–In. Both show excellent adhesion to the substrates, less surface roughness, harder surfaces, and more wear resistance than the Cu–Ni–In films.  相似文献

We consider UMTS networks in which users request services other than telephony that last for long time intervals: e.g., video clips that last for several minutes. The duration of network time-slots over which resource units are allocated is much shorter. This complicates consistent reservation of resources over longer time scales, where consistent reservation is required to ensure that service quality is constant throughout the entire service session. In this paper, we define an auction-based mechanism for nearly consistent reservation of the resources of a UMTS (or GPRS) network by the users that value them the most, in order to satisfy the longer time scale requirements of their service sessions. Each of these sessions has a fixed target bit-rate. The mechanism is based on a series of Generalized Vickrey Auctions and a set of predefined user utility functions that we propose. Bidding is performed automatically on behalf of the users on the basis of each user's selection of one of these utility functions and his declaration of a total willingness to pay. We argue that under our mechanism the user does not have a clear incentive of not performing a truthful selection of a bidding function according to his own utility. The utility functions we define express appropriately the preferences of the users with respect to the resource allocation pattern in the cases where perfectly consistent allocation cannot be attained. We also provide a mapping of these functions to the UMTS service classes. The effectiveness of our resource reservation mechanism is demonstrated by means of experiments. It appears that most of the users either are served very satisfactorily or essentially are not served at all. The mechanism is implemented at the network base station, and is applicable in practical cases of networks with large numbers of users whose sessions last for many slots.  相似文献

Watching a rubber hand being stroked, while one's own unseen hand is synchronously stroked, may cause the rubber hand to be attributed to one's own body, to "feel like it's my hand." A behavioral measure of the rubber hand illusion (RHI) is a drift of the perceived position of one's own hand toward the rubber hand. The authors investigated (a) the influence of general body scheme representations on the RHI in Experiments 1 and 2 and (b) the necessary conditions of visuotactile stimulation underlying the RHI in Experiments 3 and 4. Overall, the results suggest that at the level of the process underlying the build up of the RHI, bottom-up processes of visuotactile correlation drive the illusion as a necessary, but not sufficient, condition. Conversely, at the level of the phenomenological content, the illusion is modulated by top-down influences originating from the representation of one's own body. We present a general mathematical theory for lifting frames that allows us to modify existing filters to construct new ones that form Parseval frames. We apply our theory to design nonseparable Parseval frames from separable (tensor) products of a piecewise linear spline tight frame. These new frame systems incorporate the weighted average operator, the Sobel operator, and the Laplacian operator in directions that are integer multiples of 45 degrees. A new image denoising algorithm is then proposed, tailored to the specific properties of these new frame filters. We demonstrate the performance of our algorithm on a diverse set of images with very encouraging results.  相似文献

The present study examines the concentrations of Cd, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn in 2004 in the Saronikos Gulf, an embayment affected by anthropogenic inputs from the nearby metropolitan area of Athens. We investigated in particular the impact of the operation for a decade of the primary Wastewater Treatment Plant of Athens, which is located at Psittalia Island, on the levels of these metals in the marine environment of the gulf, few months before the inauguration of the secondary treatment. Therefore, the present work represents the needed baseline for any future comparisons and assessment of the impact of the secondary treatment. For two samplings carried out in May and September 2004 in a grid of fifteen stations, dissolved and particulate metal concentrations are, respectively, in the range 5.0–63 and 0.22–3.6 ng/L for Cd, 0.03–0.72 and 0.03–0.23 μg/L for Cu, 0.11–1.2 and 0.02–0.55 μg/L for Mn, 0.19–1.5 and 0.01–0.11 μg/L for Ni, 0.05–0.60 and 0.02–0.59 μg/L for Pb and 0.13–5.8 and 0.06–1.0 μg/L for Zn. The concentrations of the majority of the studied metals obtained in 2004 are comparable to those of the year 2000 and among the lowest detected in the Saronikos Gulf ever since the beginning of the MED-POL program twenty years ago. This stabilization is attributed to the operation of the wastewater treatment plant and offers an indication that the levels of trace metal pollution of the marine environment of the gulf are possibly reaching a steady state.  相似文献

In this paper, we present the wireless measurement of various physical quantities from the analysis of the radar cross section variability of passive electromagnetic sensors. The technique uses a millimeter frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar for both remote sensing and wireless identification of sensors. Long reading ranges (up to some decameters) are reached at the expense of poor measurement resolution (typically 10 %). A review of recent experimental results is reported for illustration purposes.  相似文献

Using periodic, self-consistent density functional theory calculations, the adsorption of several atomic (H, S, N, O and C) and molecular (CO2, N2, NH3, HCN, CO and NO) species and molecular fragments (NH2, NH, CN, CNH2, HNO, NOH, CH3, CH2, CH and OH) on the (0001) facet of rhenium at a coverage of 0.25 ML has been studied. Preferred binding sites with their corresponding binding energy and deformation energy of the surface, as well as an estimated diffusion barrier of each species have been determined. Atomic species and molecular fragments tend to bind to threefold sites, whereas molecular species tend to bind to top sites. The binding strength, with respect to the corresponding gas phase species and in increasing order for all species studied, is: CO2 < N2 < NH3 < CO < CH3 < HCN < NO < H < NH2 < OH < CH2 < CNH2 < CN < HNO < NH < NOH < S < N < O < CH < C. The vibrational frequencies of all species in their most energetically favorable adsorbed configuration have been calculated. Finally, the thermochemistry of adsorption and decomposition of NO, NO + H, NH3, N2, CO2, CO and CH4 on Re(0001) has been analyzed.  相似文献

Adsorption of 35 molecules, comprising of organonitrogen and organosulfur compounds and hydrocarbons relevant to hydrotreating, was studied on the nickel‐promoted metal edge of molybdenum sulfide catalysts using periodic DFT, accounting for van der Waals interactions in several cases. Basic molecules tend to adsorb via their nitrogen atoms directly on top of nickel atoms while nonbasic molecules adsorb via carbon atoms relatively weakly. Molecular size, electron density, and alkyl substitution affects binding at the GGA‐PW91 level of theory. van der Waals corrections influence adsorption geometry and lead to significant additional stabilization of adsorbates. The differential binding energy of nitrogen‐containing compounds decreases by 0.2–0.3 eV for each additional molecule added on the edge and their presence destabilizes the binding of organosulfur compounds by more than 0.2 eV. The inhibition of hydrodesulfurization is suggested to arise from site blocking and destabilization of reaction intermediates and transition states by organonitrogen compounds. © 2015 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 61: 4036–4050, 2015  相似文献
