Several techniques for speciation analysis of Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, and Ni are used in freshwater systems and compared with respect to their performance and to the metal species detected. The analytical techniques comprise the following: (i) diffusion gradients in thin-film gels (DGT); (ii) gel integrated microelectrodes combined to voltammetric in situ profiling system (GIME-VIP); (iii) stripping chronopotentiometry (SCP); (iv) flow-through and hollow fiber permeation liquid membranes (FTPLM and HFPLM); (v) Donnan membrane technique (DMT); (vi) competitive ligand-exchange/stripping voltammetry (CLE-SV). All methods could be used both under hardwater and under softwater conditions, although in some cases problems with detection limits were encountered at the low total concentrations. The detected Cu, Cd, and Pb concentrations decreased in the order DGT > or = GIME-VIP > or = FTPLM > or = HFPLM approximately = DMT (>CLE-SV for Cd), detected Zn decreased as DGT > or = GIME-VIP and Ni as DGT > DMT, in agreement with the known dynamic features of these techniques. Techniques involving in situ measurements (GIME-VIP) or in situ exposure (DGT, DMT, and HFPLM) appear to be appropriate in avoiding artifacts which may occur during sampling and sample handling.  相似文献

An improved high-voltage technique based on the use of a field plate combined with semiresistive layers (SIPOS) on oxide is proposed. The field plate and SIPOS (semi-insulating polycrystalline silicon) are shown to have complementary functions. Junction curvature electric field effects are reduced by the presence of the field plate. The silicon surface potential is linearized by a primary SIPOS layer on oxide, thereby reducing the peak electric field at the edge of the field plate. A second high-resistivity SIPOS layer provides an excellent passivation, and also prevents the dielectric breakdown of the underlayer SIPOS film. Moreover, the savings in chip area is about 20% compared to the standard mesa termination. The global yield is 94% for the SIPOS planar transistors and 86% for equivalent devices in mesa technology. Nematode diversity and dynamics of a full-scale rotating biological contactor plant (RBC) has been studied. Analysis of biofilm composition showed a well-established zoning of microfauna among the three RBC sections analysed. Nematodes appeared to be the dominant group within the larger microfauna populations with average abundances between 200 and 300ind/mg or 8000 and 17000ind/cm(2). The most abundant nematode species were Diplogasteritus nudicapitatus and Paroigolaimella coprophages and, to a lesser extent, Paroigolaimella bernensis and Steinernema intermedia. The relationship between nematodes and filamentous bacteria (specifically the genus Beggiatoa) was the most significant biotic relationship found, and to a lesser extent, nematodes with ciliates. The relationship between the abundance of nematode species and the physical-chemical variables suggests that nematodes may be good indicators of low pollutant load levels in the entry of the RBC system. Finally, the results indicate that nematodes may have a relevant role for a good biofilm development.  相似文献

New test structures have been designed, fabricated and tested to monitor the quality of the anodic bonding between silicon and glass. The main advantage of the described test is that it is not destructive and allows the bond quality to be monitored in processed wafers. This test is very easy to implement in a chip or in a wafer because of its simplicity. Test structures consist of a matrix of circular and rectangular cavities defined by reactive ion etching (RIE) on the silicon wafer, with different sizes and depths. The bonding process and quality can be monitorized by the measurement of the size of the smallest bonded cavity and the distance between the bonded area and the cavity border. These structures give information about the level of electrostatic pressure that has been applied to pull together into intimate contact the surfaces of the two wafers. The higher the electrostatic pressure, the better the bond. We have applied these test structures to study the influence of the voltage and the temperature on the anodic bonding process. Results are in good agreement with finite-element method (FEM) simulations.  相似文献

The lognormal (LN) and gamma-gamma (GG) distributions are compared to simulated and experimental data of the irradiance fluctuations of a Gaussian beam wave propagating through the atmosphere along a horizontal path, near the ground, in the moderate-to-strong turbulence regime. Irradiance data were collected simultaneously at three receiving apertures of different sizes. Atmospheric parameters were inferred from the measurements and scintillation theory and were used to develop the parameters for the theoretical probability density functions. Numerical simulations were produced with the same C(n)(2) value as the experimental data. Aperture-averaging effects were investigated by comparing the irradiance distributions for the three apertures at two different values of the structure parameter C(n)(2), and, hence, different values of the coherence radius rho(0). For the moderate-to-strong fluctuation regime, the GG distribution provides a good fit to the irradiance fluctuations collected by finite-sized apertures that are significantly smaller than rho(0). For apertures larger than or equal to rho(0), the irradiance fluctuations appear to be LN distributed.  相似文献

The increase in the number of tourists for many destinations and their increased mobility within host countries or regions has implied a rise in tourism-associated externalities, with vehicle crashes as the most common cause of injury for tourists. Within the transport literature, the number and variation in the amount of accidents has been related to a large set of determining variables, including weather conditions, socio-economic characteristics, exposure, physical characteristics of the road and a variety of dummies that try to capture effects such as safety laws and seasonal variations. However, the presence of tourism has been neglected. Using the case study of the Balearic Islands, the present study estimates the role of tourism in determining the number of accidents in a daily context, using the set of variables suggested by the literature and incorporating a daily measure for the stock of tourists at a host destination. Results show how tourism can be associated with a significant amount of the accidents that take place in the Balearics.  相似文献
