This paper studies an inventory system where demand is satisfied by recovered and new purchased items. Used units of a product, returned by (or collected from) customers, are kept in recoverable inventory until the start of a combined process of inspection and recovery. Recovered (remanufactured) items are assumed to be as-good-as new. However, some recovered items do not qualify to be classified as “remanufactured” and are perceived by customers to be of secondary quality. These refurbished items are sold to a secondary market at a reduced price. A simple formula that determines the optimal inventory level of recoverable (used) items is developed to be able to start the inspection and recovery processes and the economic order quantity for procurement. According to the relationships among the parameters, this paper proposes and analyzes models that describe the system of interest, which are considered extensions of the work of Koh, Hwang and Sohn [Computers and Industrial Engineering 43(1–2), 59–73, 2002].  相似文献

In a recent paper by Zhang et al. in 2012, a Mach number-invariant scaling was proposed to account for the effect of variation of free-stream Mach number in supersonic turbulent boundary layers. The present work focuses on the effect of variation of wall temperature with strong heating and cooling at the wall. Direct numerical simulation is used to study scaling and turbulence structure of a spatially evolving Mach 2 supersonic boundary layer at a friction Reynolds number of 500. A new scaling law is proposed to account for temperature-dependent fluid-property variations. This universal scaling appears superior to the existing models with the novelty that it applies not only for the mean-velocity profile but also extends to the turbulent transport, production, and dissipation terms in the budget of the turbulent kinetic energy.  相似文献

This study analyzes changes in industrial aggregate electricity intensity, during the period 1998–2005, and identifies major factors affecting the aggregate electricity intensity change using the refined Laspeyers method decomposition technique. The Jordanian industrial sector was disaggregated into seven groups: mining of chemical and fertilizers, paper, plastics, petrochemical, cement, steel and others industries. Aggregate electricity intensity has decreased from approximately 1.30 to 0.93 kWh USThis study analyzes changes in industrial aggregate electricity intensity, during the period 1998–2005, and identifies major factors affecting the aggregate electricity intensity change using the refined Laspeyers method decomposition technique. Aggregate electricity intensity has decreased from approximately 1.30 to 0.93 kWh US$?1 in 1998 and 2005, respectively. The analysis showed that the structural and efficiency effects contribute to decreases of around 21 and 79%, respectively, of total aggregate electricity intensity decline in the industrial sector. Such result is considered of high importance for energy and/or electricity analysts and planners, in Jordan and other countries, especially for the purpose of forecasting future demand more logically and without unnecessary exaggerations. The osmotic coefficient of the solution, activity of the solvent and activity coefficient of the solute in solutions of 1- and 2-naphthol in methanol and ethanol have been measured by the isopiestic method. The experimental osmotic coefficient data were correlated using the Non-Random Two Liquid model (NRTL), the Non-Random Factor model (NRF), the two suffix Margules equation and a polynomial in terms of the molality of the solute. The models give reliable results for the correlation of the osmotic coefficient data. The activity coefficients of 1- and 2-naphthol were evaluated according to the considered methods using the parameters obtained by the correlation of osmotic coefficients.  相似文献

Oligosaccharide side chains of zona pellucida (ZP) glycoproteins play a key role in the sperm-egg interaction phenomena during fertilization. In the present study, modifications of the ZP glycoproteins during the fertilization process in the mouse were studied by the lectin-gold technique and immunocytochemistry in conjunction with quantitative analysis. Binding of PNA, RCA I, DSA, LFA, MAA, AAA, and anti-ZP2 and anti-ZP3 antibodies was observed throughout the ZP of both unfertilized and fertilized eggs. However, HPA and BSAIB4 labeling was found only in the inner region of the ZP. After neuraminidase treatment (Neu), HPA showed an affinity for the entire ZP. Labeling by LFA, WGA, MAA, PNA, BSAIB4, and AAA decreased in the ZP of fertilized eggs; however, there was an increase in the binding of RCA I. HPA and Neu-HPA increased only in the inner region of the ZP. Immunoreactivity to antibodies against ZP2 and ZP3 also decreased after fertilization. The present results demonstrate that 1) terminal carbohydrate residues contained in the ZP glycoproteins are modified after fertilization and 2) inner and outer regions of the ZP contain different oligosaccharide side chains.  相似文献

The zona pellucida (ZP) is an extracellular matrix surrounding the mammalian oocyte. It is involved in the sperm-egg adhesion phenomenon, induces the acrosome reaction, and participates in the late blockage to polyspermy. Thus, during the process of fertilization the cortical reaction is induced and the biochemical and biological properties of the ZP are modified. Some of these changes have been suggested to prevent the polyspermy. However, the mechanisms behind most of these changes are not well understood. Carbohydrate residues of the ZP glycoproteins have been shown to play a key role in the early step of fertilization. In the present study, the changes produced in the terminal oligosaccharide sequences of the rat ZP glycoproteins after in vivo fertilization were investigated by means of lectin-gold cytochemistry. A comparative quantitative analysis of the density of labeling in the ZP before and after fertilization was carried out by automatic counting of gold particles. The ZP of fertilized and unfertilized eggs were labeled by a battery of lectins including PNA, LFA, MAA, AAA, DSA, RCA I, and WGA. For all lectin studied in both fertilized and unfertilized eggs the labeling was preferentially located in the inner region of the ZP. After fertilization, binding of PNA, LFA, MAA, AAA, and DSA decreased in both inner and outer regions of the ZP. Labeling of RCA I-binding sites only decreased in the inner ZP, whereas reactivity to WGA was increased in the inner ZP, whereas reactivity to WGA was increased in the inner area of the ZP. Digestion of the thin-sections with neuraminidase prior to labeling with WGA resulted in a decrease of labeling for WGA binding sites. However, the labeling density of WGA binding sites was similar in both unfertilized and fertilized eggs upon treatment with neuraminidase. The present results demonstrate that the oligosaccharide chains contained in the rat ZP are modified after fertilization of the oocyte. Cortical granules of the oocytes might be involved in these modifications by two mechanisms: 1) by hydrolysis of terminal carbohydrate residues of ZP glycoproteins by specific glycosidases contained in the granules; and 2) by addition of new glycoproteins to the ZP after the exocytosis of the cortical granules (cortical reaction).  相似文献
