Firms that adopt cellular manufacturing (CM) often need to restructure their products, personnel, equipment, factory management and organisation culture. Despite voluminous literature on CM, only a few case studies related to cellularisation exist. Therefore, to enhance understanding in this area, this paper presents a longitudinal case study on cellularisation in an electronic assembly plant. Six years of data were collected from the observations and discussions of an industrialist and an academician. Events instrumental to the persistence of CM were highlighted, with reference to path dependence analysis. Cellularisation is not entirely evolutionary or teleological but is an interplay of the two; it is significantly influenced by the positive feedback of self-reinforcing mechanisms after departing from critical junctures. Friction stir processing (FSP) is an expeditiously emerging novel technique involving exterior layer modification, which enables one to successfully fabricate surface composites (SCs) as well as bulk composites of the metal matrix. SCs constitute an exclusive class of composites which exhibit improved surface properties while retaining the bulk properties unaltered. During initiative years, FSP was employed in development of SCs of light metal alloys like aluminum. But, nowadays, it has gained a shining role in the field of SC fabrication of various nonferrous alloys like aluminum, magnesium, copper, and even ferrous metals like steel etc. This article reviews the current trends, various issues, and strategies used to enhance the efficiency of the fabrication process of SCs. Factors involved in the process of SC fabrication are discussed and classified with a new approach. Also, variation of microstructural and mechanical characteristics with these factors is reviewed. In addition to a brief presentation on the interaction between various inputs and their effects on properties, a summary of literature on SC fabrication for different metals is tabulated with prominent results. Subsequently, shortfalls and future perspectives of FSP on SC fabrication domain are discussed. 相似文献

In this study, an eco‐friendly biosynthesis of stable gold nanoparticles (T‐GNPs) was carried out using different concentrations of tomato juice (nutraceuticals) as a reducing agent and tetrachloroauric acid as a metal precursor to explore their potential application in cancer therapeutics. The synthesis of T‐GNPs was monitored by UV‐visible absorption spectroscopy, which unveiled their formation by exhibiting the typical surface plasmon absorption maxima at 522 nm. The size of T‐GNPs was found to be 10.86 ± 0.6 nm. T‐GNPs were characterised by dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, transmission electron microscopy analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. T‐GNPs were further investigated for their anti‐cancer activity against human lung carcinoma cell line (A 549) and human cervical cancer cell line wherein the IC50 values were found to be 0.286 and 0.200 mM, respectively. T‐GNPs inhibited the growth of cancer cells by generating ROS and inducing apoptosis. T‐GNPs were found highly effective by virtue of their size, metallic property and capping molecules. Accurate location or positioning of people and self-driven devices in large indoor environments has become an important necessity The application of increasingly automated self-operating moving transportation units, in large indoor spaces demands a precise knowledge of their positions. Technologies like WiFi and Bluetooth, despite their low-cost and availability, are sensitive to signal noise and fading effects. For these reasons, a hybrid approach, which uses two different signal sources, has proven to be more resilient and accurate for the positioning determination in indoor environments. Hence, this paper proposes an improved hybrid technique to implement a fingerprinting based indoor positioning, using Received Signal Strength information from available Wireless Local Area Network access points, together with the Wireless Sensor Networks technology. Six signals were recorded on a regular grid of anchor points, covering the research space. An optimization was performed by relative signal weighting, to minimize the average positioning error over the research space. The optimization process was conducted using a standard Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization, while the position error estimate for all given sets of weighted signals was performed using a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) neural network. Compared to our previous research works, the MLP architecture was improved to three hidden layers and its learning parameters were finely tuned. These experimental results led to the 20% reduction of the positioning error when a suitable set of signal weights was calculated in the optimization process. Our final achieved value of 0.725 m of the location incertitude shows a sensible improvement compared to our previous results. 相似文献

Diabetes mellitus is a long-term condition characterized by hyperglycemia. It could lead to plenty of difficulties. According to rising morbidity in recent years, the world’s diabetic patients will exceed 642 million by 2040, implying that one out of every ten persons will be diabetic. There is no doubt that this startling figure requires immediate attention from industry and academia to promote innovation and growth in diabetes risk prediction to save individuals’ lives. Due to its rapid development, deep learning (DL) was used to predict numerous diseases. However, DL methods still suffer from their limited prediction performance due to the hyperparameters selection and parameters optimization. Therefore, the selection of hyper-parameters is critical in improving classification performance. This study presents Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) that has achieved remarkable results in many medical domains where the Bayesian optimization algorithm (BOA) has been employed for hyperparameters selection and parameters optimization. Two issues have been investigated and solved during the experiment to enhance the results. The first is the dataset class imbalance, which is solved using Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) technique. The second issue is the model's poor performance, which has been solved using the Bayesian optimization algorithm. The findings indicate that the Bayesian based-CNN model superbases all the state-of-the-art models in the literature with an accuracy of 89.36%, F1-score of 0.88.6, and Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC) of 0.88.6. 相似文献

This paper focuses on developing a simulation model for the analysis of transmission pipeline network system (TPNS) with detailed characteristics of compressor stations. Compressor station is the key element in the TPNS since it provides energy to keep the gas moving. The simulation model is used to create a system that simulates TPNS with different configurations to get pressure and flow parameters. The mathematical formulations for the TPNS simulation were derived from the principles of flow of fluid through pipe, mass balance and compressor characteristics. In order to determine the unknown pressure and flow parameters, a visual C++ code was developed based on Newton–Raphson solution technique. Using the parameters obtained, the model evaluates the energy consumption for various configurations in order to guide for the selection of optimal TPNS. Results from the evaluations of the model with the existing TPNS and comparison with the existing approaches showed that the developed simulation model enabled to determine the operational parameters with less than 10 iterations. Hence, the simulation model could assist in decisions regarding the design and operations of the TPNS. 相似文献

In this paper, we introduce and consider a new class of mixed variational inequalities involving four operators, which are called extended general mixed variational inequalities. Using the resolvent operator technique, we establish the equivalence between the extended general mixed variational inequalities and fixed point problems as well as resolvent equations. We use this alternative equivalent formulation to suggest and analyze some iterative methods for solving general mixed variational inequalities. We study the convergence criteria for the suggested iterative methods under suitable conditions. Our methods of proof are very simple as compared with other techniques. The results proved in this paper may be viewed as refinements and important generalizations of the previous known results. 相似文献
