In this work, the use of a film of an organometallic polymer, namely Pt‐DEBP, has been tested for the selective capture of sulfides with the aim of protecting silver object. Ag foils were exposed to different environmental conditions in the presence of Pt‐DEBP films. Scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrometry, and colorimetric studies allowed to assess that the polymeric layer selectively captures H2S, preventing the tarnishing of the silver substrate over a period at least of 2 months, without any manipulation of the sample. This approach open new perspectives for the prevention of aging effects on silver objects of artistic interest, for which cleaning or coating procedures should be avoid. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fluorine-substituted hydroxyapatites are considered promising materials for bone scaffolding. In this study a systematic investigation on F-half substituted hydroxyapatite (F-HAp, Ca10(PO4)6OHF) obtained by precipitation is reported. Results on composition analysis, thermal behaviour, and sinterability are presented for a comparison with the respective pure hydroxyapatite. Samples were characterised by electron microscopy, induced coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy, N2 adsorption measurements, X-ray diffraction and dilatometry. A semicrystalline F-substituted hydroxyapatite powder made up of needle-like nanoparticles was obtained. Notwithstanding that it was thermally stable up to 1300 °C, it was sintered at relatively low temperatures obtaining a very fine microstructure with a relevant nano-porosity, beneficial in view of cell adhesion and in-growth.Hardness, elastic modulus and toughness of produced samples were investigated by Vickers–Knoop microhardness testing. Significant improvements of the mechanical properties were observed for the F-substituted hydroxyapatite, in comparison with pure hydroxyapatite.  相似文献

A new photocatalytic system consisting of two subsystems – Cu0/Cl/H+/UVssr and CuII/H+/TiO2/formic acid/UVssr – is proposed as a tool to produce hydrogen by reforming an organic species. Formic acid is used as hole scavenger during the experimental runs. An experimental campaign is carried out to demonstrate that the systems can generate hydrogen and to assess how the generation rate depends upon experimental conditions such as copper and TiO2 loads, chloride and proton ions, and formic acid concentrations. A strong dependence of the Cu0/Cl/H+/UVssr subsystem reactivity upon copper load, chloride concentration and pH is observed. The investigation on the complete system, starting from zero-valent copper, indicates that the addition of TiO2 and formic acid to the Cu0/Cl/H+/UVssr subsystem does not result into any gain in terms of hydrogen produced and, renders the system totally unreactive under some conditions. On the other hand, when a complete system, starting from cupric ions, is adopted, hydrogen production is observed also for prolonged reaction times with a surplus of hydrogen production with respect to that generated by the Cu0/Cl/H+/UVssr subsystem with the same Cu0 starting load and in absence of TiO2 and sacrificial agent.  相似文献

According to the Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics criteria, a numerical model is developed to simulate the failure evolution of multi-cracked finite plates by means of an incremental loading procedure. A modified crack length control scheme is used in order to analyse such problems depending on one or more independent parameters. The aim is to provide information about a discontinuous response, such as the snap-back instability, which can be highlighted only by a deformation controlled process. The load vs. displacement curve, included possible snap-back branches, is numerically traced by means of a procedure based on the Displacement Discontinuity Boundary Element Method. With reference to finite plates with ordered crack distributions in plane strain loading conditions, the model is applied in order to analyse the effects of the crack interaction on the fracture evolution. Complex Price Dynamics in a Financial Market with Imitation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In this work a simple financial model with fundamentalists and imitators is being considered. In order to describe the price dynamics of the heterogeneous stock market, a synergetic approach is used and some global bifurcations arising in the model are being studied. It is shown that the fundamental equilibrium point P* may be destabilized through a subcritical Neimark–Sacker bifurcation and that two invariant closed curves, one attracting and one repelling, appear when P* is still stable. This particular bifurcation scenario allows us to show some noticeable features of the market that emerge when the imitation effect is emphasized. Among these features are, for instance, the volatility clusters associated with the presence of multistability (i.e. coexistence of attractors) and the hysteresis phenomenon.  相似文献

The AISI 304 and AISI 1018 steels (frequently used in solar collectors’ plants) in contact with four different ionic liquids (ILs) suitable as diathermic fluids, were studied. Immersion tests were performed at 220 °C (the working temperature in such plants) for 10 days. The corrosion morphologies of the steels were investigated by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) microanalysis and the content of metals in the solution were detected via ICP-OES. The tests showed that the most performing IL is the ethyl-dimethyl-propyl-ammonium-bis(trifluoromethylsulphonyl)imide. The corrosion properties of the two alloys in contact with such IL were investigated by means of Tafel plots and resistance polarization at room temperature in open-to-air vessels.  相似文献

The development of a solution‐deposited up‐converted distributed feedback laser prototype is presented. It employs a sol–gel silica/germania soft‐lithographed microcavity and CdSe–CdZnS–ZnS quantum dot/sol–gel zirconia composites as optical gain material. Characterization of the linear and nonlinear optical properties of quantum dots establishes their high absorption cross‐sections in the one‐ and two‐ photon absorption regimes to be 1 × 10?14 cm2 and 5 × 104 GM, respectively. In addition, ultrafast transient absorption dynamics measurements of the graded seal quantum dots reveal that the Auger recombination lifetime is 220 ps, a value two times higher than that of the corresponding CdSe core. These factors enable the use of such quantum dots as optically pumped gain media, operating in the one‐ and two‐photon absorption regime. The incorporation of CdSe–CdZnS–ZnS quantum dots within a zirconia host matrix affords a quantum‐dot ink that can be directly deposited on our soft‐lithographed distributed feedback grating to form an all‐solution‐processed microcavity laser.  相似文献

The nucleotide analog sofosbuvir, licensed for the treatment of hepatitis C, recently revealed activity against the Zika virus (ZIKV) in vitro and in animal models. However, the ZIKV genetic barrier to sofosbuvir has not yet been characterized. In this study, in vitro selection experiments were performed in infected human hepatoma cell lines. Increasing drug pressure significantly delayed viral breakthrough (p = 0.029). A double mutant in the NS5 gene (V360L/V607I) emerged in 3 independent experiments at 40–80 µM sofosbuvir resulting in a 3.9 ± 0.9-fold half- maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) shift with respect to the wild type (WT) virus. A triple mutant (C269Y/V360L/V607I), detected in one experiment at 80 µM, conferred a 6.8-fold IC50 shift with respect to the WT. Molecular dynamics simulations confirmed that the double mutant V360L/V607I impacts the binding mode of sofosbuvir, supporting its role in sofosbuvir resistance. Due to the distance from the catalytic site and to the lack of reliable structural data, the contribution of C269Y was not investigated in silico. By a combination of sequence analysis, phenotypic susceptibility testing, and molecular modeling, we characterized a double ZIKV NS5 mutant with decreased sofosbuvir susceptibility. These data add important information to the profile of sofosbuvir as a possible lead for anti-ZIKV drug development.  相似文献

Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) associated with severe mitral regurgitation is a debilitating disease with no pharmacological therapies available. MicroRNAs (miRNA) represent an emerging class of circulating biomarkers that have never been evaluated in MVP human plasma. Our aim was to identify a possible miRNA signature that is able to discriminate MVP patients from healthy subjects (CTRL) and to shed light on the putative altered molecular pathways in MVP. We evaluated a plasma miRNA profile using Human MicroRNA Card A followed by real-time PCR validations. In addition, to assess the discriminative power of selected miRNAs, we implemented a machine learning analysis. MiRNA profiling and validations revealed that miR-140-3p, 150-5p, 210-3p, 451a, and 487a-3p were significantly upregulated in MVP, while miR-223-3p, 323a-3p, 340-5p, and 361-5p were significantly downregulated in MVP compared to CTRL (p ≤ 0.01). Functional analysis identified several biological processes possible linked to MVP. In addition, machine learning analysis correctly classified MVP patients from CTRL with high accuracy (0.93) and an area under the receiving operator characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.97. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study performed on human plasma, showing a strong association between miRNAs and MVP. Thus, a circulating molecular signature could be used as a first-line, fast, and cheap screening tool for MVP identification.  相似文献
