Disturbance of consciousness associated with hypophosphatemia in a chronically alcoholic patient

A 69-year-old man with chronic alcoholism was admitted to our hospital due to disturbance of consciousness and oliguria. Emergency laboratory examination revealed metabolic acidosis, hypoglycemia, hyponatremia, mild liver dysfunction, acute renal failure and rhabdomyolysis. After administration of fluids and nutrients and continuous hemodiafiltration, he recovered from all signs and symptoms except for disturbance of consciousness after 7 days. Since severe hypophosphatemia persisted, we administered adequate phosphates, and then his level of consciousness normalized. We discuss the relationships among alcohol abuse, hypophosphatemia and disturbance of consciousness, and recommend that hypophosphatemia be considered a potential cause of disturbance of consciousness in alcoholic patients.     

融合表情和BVP生理信号的双模态视频情感识别

目的 针对当前视频情感判别方法大多仅依赖面部表情、而忽略了面部视频中潜藏的生理信号所包含的情感信息,本文提出一种基于面部表情和血容量脉冲（BVP）生理信号的双模态视频情感识别方法。方法 首先对视频进行预处理获取面部视频;然后对面部视频分别提取LBP-TOP和HOG-TOP两种时空表情特征,并利用视频颜色放大技术获取BVP生理信号,进而提取生理信号情感特征;接着将两种特征分别送入BP分类器训练分类模型;最后利用模糊积分进行决策层融合,得出情感识别结果。结果 在实验室自建面部视频情感库上进行实验,表情单模态和生理信号单模态的平均识别率分别为80%和63.75%,而融合后的情感识别结果为83.33%,高于融合前单一模态的情感识别精度,说明了本文融合双模态进行情感识别的有效性。结论 本文提出的双模态时空特征融合的情感识别方法更能充分地利用视频中的情感信息,有效增强了视频情感的分类性能,与类似的视频情感识别算法对比实验验证了本文方法的优越性。另外,基于模糊积分的决策层融合算法有效地降低了不可靠决策信息对融合的干扰,最终获得更优的识别精度。     

Development of kA-class alternating current superconducting conductors and fabrication of a prototype coreless superconducting autotransformer

Recently, multifilamentary superconducting wires with very low ac losses have been produced and practical applications will now be considered. To realize actualsize power machines and apparatuses, it is necessary to develop 1 - 10 kA ac conductors. However, the critical currents of multifilamentary wires at 1 T are several tens of A, and therefore it is necessary to use multistrand conductors consisting of several tens or several hundreds of strands. Such conductors sometimes show ac current degradation because of such factors as (1) nonuniform current distribution, (2) wire motion, (3) temperature increase, (4) longitudinal magnetic field effect, etc. Formerly, a coreless transformer was considered unpractical because of its large exciting current. However, Yamamoto and others proposed that a coreless superconducting transformer could be used as a stepdown autotransformer at the receiving side, utilizing its large exciting current as the reactive power source to cancel the charging current of an underground transmission line or UHV line, and therefore the shunt reactors could be eliminated. In this paper, development of ac-superconducting conductors aimed at prevention of current degradation are discussed, as well as quench test results of two small coils made with these conductors. In these conductors, low ac low strands with ultrafine NbTi filaments are twisted around a central bundle of stainless steel wires. One of the coils has been designed as a model coreless autotransformer, and its test result is also described.     

Antimutagenic activity of Camembert cheese on the Trp-P-1-induced mutagenicity to streptomycin-dependent strain SD510 of Salmonella typhimurium TA98

Antimutagenic activity of Camembert cheese during ripening against the mutagenicity of an amino acid pyrolysate, Trp-P-1, using the streptomycin-dependent strain (SD510) of Salmonella typhimurium TA98, was studied. The starter used for the manufacture of Camembert cheese consisted of four strains of lactic acid bacteria and one strain of Penicillium candidum. The antimutagenicity of Camembert cheese was very high and increased during ripening. When 1% cheese suspension was used, the antimutagenicity was 19% at zero week, 36% at 1 week, 50% at 2 weeks, 60% at 3 weeks and 64% at 4 weeks. It was difficult to correlate between the ripening time and antimutagenicity at a higher concentration. At a lower concentration, the activity was too low to study.

A 32 kbyte integrated cache memory

The system, circuit, layout and device levels of an integrated cache memory (ICM), which includes 32 kbyte DATA memory with typical address to HIT delay of 18 ns and address to DATA delay of 23 ns, are described. The ICM offers the largest memory size and the fastest speed ever reported in a cache memory. The device integrates a 32 kbyte DATA INSTRUCTION memory, a 34 kbit TAG memory, an 8 kbit VALID flat, a 2 kbit least recently used (LRU) flag, comparators, and CPU interface logic circuits on a chip. The inclusion of the DATA memory is crucial in improving system cycle time. The device uses several novel circuit design technologies, including a double-word-line scheme, low-noise flush clear, a low-power comparator, noise immunity, and directly testable memory design.
