Light- induced polymeric 3D printing is becoming a well-established fabrication method, showing manifold advantages such as control of the local chemistry of the manufactured devices. It can be considered a green technology, since the parts are produced when needed and with minimum amount of materials. In this work 3D printing is combined with another green technology, microwave-assisted reaction, to fabricate objects of complex geometry with controllable surface properties, exploiting the presence of remaining functional groups on the surface of 3D printed specimens. In this context, surface functionalization with different amines is studied, optimizing formulations, reaction times, and avoiding surface deterioration. Then, two different applications are investigated. MW-functionalized filter-type structures have been tested against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, showing high bactericidal activity on the surface along all areas of the complex-shaped structure. Second, a fluidic chip composed of three separated channels is 3D printed, filled with different amine-reactive dyes (dansyl and eosine derivatives), and made to react simultaneously. Complete and independent functionalization of the surface of the three channels is achieved only after 2 min of irradiation. This study demonstrates that light induced 3D printing and microwave-induced chemistry can be used together effectively, and used to produce functional devices.  相似文献

The attention on group III-VI compounds in the last decades has been centered on the optoelectronic properties of indium and gallium chalcogenides. These outstanding properties are leading to novel advancements in terms of fundamental and applied science. One of the advantages of these compounds is to present laminated structures, which can be exfoliated down to monolayers. Despite the large knowledge gathered toward indium and gallium chalcogenides, the family of the group III-VI compounds embraces several other noncommon compounds formed by the other group III elements. These compounds present various crystal lattices, among which a great deal is offered from layered structures. Studies on aluminium chalcogenides show interesting potential as anodes in batteries and as semiconductors. Thallium (Tl), which is commonly present in the +1 oxidation state, is one of the key components in ternary chalcogenides. However, binary Tl–Q (Q = S, Se, Te) systems and derived films are still studied for their semiconducting and thermoelectric properties. This review aims to summarize the biggest features of these unusual materials and to shed some new light on them with the perspective that in the future, novel studies can revive these compounds in order to give rise to a new generation of technology.  相似文献

Foodborne disease caused by Salmonella represents a worldwide public health problem. In Europe, salmonellosis is still the second most commonly recorded zoonosis. Since the standard culture method for detecting Salmonella (ISO 6579:2002) requires up to 5 days to produce results, the need to develop rapid methods represents an important issue for the authorities and the producers. The aim of the present study was the in-house validation, according to ISO 16140, of an open-formula diagnostic real-time PCR for the detection of Salmonella in all the different meat categories reported in the EU Regulations relative to microbiological criteria for food safety. The assay employed specific primers and a probe target within the ttrRSBCA locus, which allows the tetrathionate respiration in Salmonella. Selectivity, relative accuracy, relative sensitivity and relative specificity were established by testing 110 bacterial strains and 175 various edible meat samples. Results showed 100 % selectivity, 100 % relative accuracy, 100 % relative sensitivity and 100 % relative specificity of the real-time PCR when compared to the standard culture method used as reference. In addition, in order to minimize the effect of the competitive micro-flora naturally present on meat samples, a highly nutritious and selective commercial medium (ONE Broth Salmonella, Oxoid) was evaluated in comparison with the classical non-selective pre-enrichment broth (buffered peptone water). Results demonstrated that the ONE Broth Salmonella medium increases the growth of Salmonella in the presence of competitive micro-flora.  相似文献

We investigated the effect of auxin and acetylcholine on the expression of the tomato expansin gene LeEXPA2, a specific expansin gene expressed in elongating tomato hypocotyl segments. Since auxin interferes with clathrin-mediated endocytosis, in order to regulate cellular and developmental responses we produced protoplasts from tomato elongating hypocotyls and followed the endocytotic marker, FM4-64, internalization in response to treatments. Tomato protoplasts were observed during auxin and acetylcholine treatments after transient expression of chimerical markers of volume-control related compartments such as vacuoles. Here we describe the contribution of auxin and acetylcholine to LeEXPA2 expression regulation and we support the hypothesis that a possible subcellular target of acetylcholine signal is the vesicular transport, shedding some light on the characterization of this small molecule as local mediator in the plant physiological response.  相似文献

The energy balance is discussed for the complex case of bronze or marble statuary horses and particularly the four horses of San Marco in Venice. Having computed the coefficient of exchange between bronze and the atmosphere, the daytime overheating is evaluated for different seasons and orientations of the statues. The equations can be solved with reasonable approximation and both the past and future overheatings can be evaluated as a function of the growing surface weathering and blackening. Therefore, the present analysis points out the chief characteristics of both the diurnal cycle and the variation over the centuries of the response of the bronzes to atmospheric variables.  相似文献

The biological stability determines the extent to which readily biodegradable organic matter has decomposed. In this work, a massive estimation of indices suitable for the measurement of biological stability of the organic matter content in solid waste samples has been carried out. Samples from different stages in a mechanical-biological treatment (MBT) plant treating municipal solid wastes (MSW) were selected as examples of different stages of organic matter stability in waste biological treatment. Aerobic indices based on respiration techniques properly reflected the process of organic matter biodegradation. Static and dynamic respirometry showed similar values in terms of aerobic biological activity (expressed as oxygen uptake rate, OUR), whereas cumulative oxygen consumption was a reliable method to express the biological stability of organic matter in solid samples. Methods based on OUR and cumulative oxygen consumption were positively correlated. Anaerobic methods based on biogas production (BP) tests also reflected well the degree of biological stability, although significant differences were found in solid and liquid BP assays. A significant correlation was found between cumulative oxygen consumption and ultimate biogas production. The results obtained in this study can be a basis for the quantitative measurement of the efficiency in the stabilization of organic matter in waste treatment plants, including MBT plants, anaerobic digestion of MSW and composting plants.  相似文献

The IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol provides a reliable link layer using Stop & Wait ARQ. The cost for high reliability is the overhead due to acknowledgement packets in the direction opposite to the actual data flow. In this paper, the design of a new protocol as an enhancement of IEEE 802.11 is proposed, with the aim of reducing supplementary traffic overhead and increasing the bandwidth available for actual data transmission. The performance of the proposed protocol is evaluated through comparison with IEEE 802.11 as well as with a SSCOP-based protocol. Results underline significant advantages of the proposed protocol against existing ones, thus confirming the value and potentiality of the approach.Dzmitry Kliazovich received his Masters degree in telecommunication science from Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics in 2002. He received the “Laurea” (M.Sc.) degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Genoa, Italy, in 1997, with a thesis on video coding, awarded with the TELECOM Italy prize, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from the same university in 2001. Since 2000 he is carrying on his teaching activity as Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Information and Communication Technologies (DIT) of the University of Trento (Italy) within the B.Sc. and M.Sc. Degrees in Telecommunications Engineering.The research interests of Dr. Granelli are mainly focused on networking, with particular attention to network modeling and performance evaluation, wireless networks, access control, and next-generation telecommunication networks.He is author of more than 30 refereed papers, published in several international journals and conferences.Dr. Granelli is member of the IEEE Committee on “Communication Systems Integration and Modeling” (CSIM) and of the Technical Programme Committee of the “QoS and Performance Evaluation Symposium” of the International Conference on Communications (ICC 2003 and ICC 2004).  相似文献
