Stability of wood fast pyrolysis oil 总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
This study evaluates the effects of storage conditions on physical and chemical properties of biomass fast pyrolysis oils exposed to elevated temperatures over extended periods of time. It was performed on oak pyrolysis oil generated in the NREL vortex reactor. Oil samples were stored at three temperatures: 37, 60 and 90°C in glass vessels. Properties of the oils were measured after hours of storage at 90°C, and after days or weeks at lower temperatures. Chemical changes in the oils were measured using GPC (molecular weight distribution) and FTIR spectroscopy. The oil remained a single phase throughout the studied conditions. Its pH was not affected by storage. The water content, viscosity and molecular weight of the oil increased with the time and temperature of storage. First-order reaction kinetics were successfully used to predict changes in molecular weight of the stored oil. FTIR provided evidence that etherification or esterification are mechanisms for condensation of the oil during storage. 相似文献

Broadband networks using wireless transmission techniques are a quick and flexible means of implementing subscriber access. Unoccupied frequency bands with sufficient bandwidth to allow the transmission of digital signals at very high bit rates are found only in the microwave bands. Because the path loss is fairly high at these frequencies, the diameter of radio cells is limited to a maximum of a few kilometres. This results in a microcellular system, which is best implemented in the form of a point‐to‐multipoint system, where one radio‐base station serves all subscribers registered in that radio cell. (R)-6-Ethyl-2-methyl-2,3-dihydro-4H-pyran-4-one, (1R,3S,5R)-3-ethyl-1,8-dimethyl-2,9-dioxabicyclo[3.3. 1]non-7-ene, and (1R,3S,5R)-3-ethyl-1,8-dimethyl-2,9-dioxabicyclo[3.3.1]non-7-en-6-one represent the main components in the male pheromone of the swift moth,Hepialus hecta. The amounts of the three components were 40, 5, and 5 g per male, respectively. Structure elucidation of the compounds was based on spectroscopic data as compared to synthetic reference samples. The absolute configurations were determined by gas chromatography on chiral stationary phases; optically active samples served as reference compounds. Electrophysiological and behavioral experiments with natural material and synthetic samples clearly showed the three heterocyclic compounds to act as pheromones. Studies demonstrated that free fatty acids can be adsorbed from a soybean oil/hexane miscella by inorganic rice hull ash.
A 1% dose was effective in diminishing free fatty acid concentrations but acid activation reduced the adsorption. Binding
of free fatty acids followed a Freundlich isotherm with smaller doses of ash adsorbing more efficiently. Addition of isopropanol
to the miscella promoted the adsorption, while water deactivation of the ash had no effect, possibly because water occupied
sites not accessible to free fatty acids. Impaired adsorption behavior of ash heated above 700°C could have been due to disruption
of the crystal form. The adsorption behavior of rice hull ash may be more fully understood with a better knowledge of adsorbent

Effects of Growth Substance Applications (Triazole) on Yield Formation and Grain Quality of Winter Rape Field trials have been conducted for two years (1986/87 and 1987/88) with cv. Lirabon (low erucic acid and low glucosinolate content). At several growth stages uptil beginning of flowering and at different rates the triazole RSW 0411 (Bayer) was applied. The problem was to investigate growth regulator effects on agronomically important traits, the utilization of yield potential and on seed quality. Applications during stem elongation reduced plant height phoma lingam infestation and lodging. Branching and numbers of pods/plant increased, partly on costs of pod filling. In 1986/87 grain yields/ha indicated (not significant) increases without any effects on grain quality. The term “cybernetics” is very old, but in the middle of the last century it gained new importance as steering brought new aspects to the area of information technology. This paper deals with the general history of cybernetics and then describes the beginning of this field at Vienna University of Technology. In this context it was an important step, when the book “Cybernetics” by Norbert Wiener first came to Vienna; thus the interest in cybernetic models evolved. Originating from the interest in cybernetic models, three models were recreated (and refined):
- the model of the conditioned reflex (artificial tortoise),
- the model of orientation in a maze (mouse), and
- the model of homeostasis (homeostat).

Metallic surface nanopatterns are prepared by a template‐confined dewetting process with multiple structural controllabilities. The morphology of the building blocks is homogeneous throughout the surface nanopatterns, as the dewetting process proceeds separately in each bowl. The features of the building units in the surface patterns are highly dependent on the annealing temperature. Importantly, the size and composition of the nanoparticles in the surface nanopatterns can be pre‐calculated and designed by manipulating the thickness of the evaporated metallic films. The heating temperature and composition of the building units influence the surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and plasmonic properties, thus tuning the localized surface plasmon resonance peaks over a broad range (from visible to near infrared). The introduction of silver in the gold surface nanopatterns enhances the SERS performance dramatically. This work not only provides a powerful route to fabricate surface nanopatterns, but also supplies a platform to study the mechanism of the complicated dewetting processes of metals. 相似文献

Faster methods for the detection of foodborne microbial pathogens are needed. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) can amplify specific segments of DNA and is used to detect and identify bacterial genes responsible for causing diseases in humans. The major features and requirements for the PCR are described along with a number of important variations. A considerable number of PCR‐based assays have been developed, but they have been applied most often to clinical and environmental samples and more rarely for the detection of foodborne microorganisms. Much of the difficulty in implementing PCR for the analysis of food samples lies in the problems encountered during the preparation of template DNAs from food matrices; a variety of approaches and considerations are examined. Much evidence has accumulated that implicates the oxidative modification of low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) in the early stages of atherogenesis. The antioxidant nutrients alpha‐tocopherol, ascorbic acid, and beta‐carotene have been shown to inhibit in vitro LDL oxidation. In addition, they have been shown to increase the resistance of LDL to oxidation when given to animals and humans. Because plasma levels of these nutrients can be increased by dietary supplementation with minimal side effects, they may show promise in the prevention of coronary artery disease. 相似文献
