A conductive phosphonate metal–organic framework (MOF), [{Cu(H2O)}(2,6-NDPA)0.5] (NDPA = naphthalenediphosphonic acid), which contains a 2D inorganic building unit (IBU) comprised of a continuous edge-sharing sheet of copper phosphonate polyhedra is reported. The 2D IBUs are connected to each other via polyaromatic 2,6-NDPA's, forming a 3D pillared-layered MOF structure. This MOF, known as TUB40, has a narrow band gap of 1.42 eV, a record high average electrical conductance of 2 × 102 S m−1 at room temperature based on single-crystal conductivity measurements, and an electrical conductance of 142 S m−1 based on a pellet measurement. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the conductivity is due to an excitation from the highest occupied molecular orbital on the naphthalene-building unit to the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital on the copper atoms. Temperature-dependent magnetization measurements show that the copper atoms are antiferromagnetically coupled at very low temperatures, which is also confirmed by the DFT calculations. Due to its high conductance and thermal/chemical stability, TUB40 may prove useful as an electrode material in supercapacitors. 相似文献

The problem of flow of a granular material during the process of discharging a silo is considered in the present paper. The mechanical behaviour of the material is described by the use of the model of the elastic–plastic solid with the Drucker–Prager yield condition and the non‐associative flow rule. The phenomenon of friction between the stored material and the silo walls is taken into account—the Coulomb model of friction is used in the analysis. The problem is analysed by means of the particle‐in‐cell method—a variant of the finite element method which enables to solve the pertinent equations of motion on an arbitrary computational mesh and trace state variables at points of the body chosen independently of the mesh. The method can be regarded as an arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian formulation of the finite element method, and overcomes the main drawback of the updated Lagrangian formulation of FEM related to mesh distortion. The entire process of discharging a silo can be analysed by this approach. The dynamic problem is solved by the use of the explicit time‐integration scheme. Several numerical examples are included. Melatonin is registered to treat circadian rhythm sleep–wake disorders and insomnia in patients aged 55 years and over. The essential role of the circadian sleep rhythm in the deterioration of sleep quality during COVID-19 confinement and the lack of an adverse effect of melatonin on respiratory drive indicate that melatonin has the potential to be a recommended treatment for sleep disturbances related to COVID-19. This review article describes the effects of melatonin additional to its sleep-related effects, which make this drug an attractive therapeutic option for treating patients with COVID-19. The preclinical data suggest that melatonin may inhibit COVID-19 progression. It may lower the risk of the entrance of the SARS-CoV-2 virus into cells, reduce uncontrolled hyper-inflammation and the activation of immune cells, limit the damage of tissues and multiorgan failure due to the action of free radicals, and reduce ventilator-induced lung injury and the risk of disability resulting from fibrotic changes within the lungs. Melatonin may also increase the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccination. The high safety profile of melatonin and its potential anti-SARS-CoV-2 effects make this molecule a preferable drug for treating sleep disturbances in COVID-19 patients. However, randomized clinical trials are needed to verify the clinical usefulness of melatonin in the treatment of COVID-19. 相似文献

Activated carbon (AC) fiber cloths and hydrophobic microporous polypropylene (PP) membrane, both modified by plasma-induced graft polymerization of acrylic acid (AAc) under UV irradiation, and filled with saturated lithium hydroxide solution were used as electrodes, a separator and electrolyte in electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs). The modification process changed the hydrophobic character of AC and PP materials to hydrophilic, made them wettable and serviceable as components of an electrochemical capacitor. The presence of poly(acrylic acid) on the AC and PP surface was confirmed by SEM and XPS methods. Electrochemical characteristics of EDLCs were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge cycle tests and also by impedance spectroscopy. At the 1000th cycle of potential cycling (1 A g−1) the specific capacitance of 110 F g−1 was obtained with a specific energy of 11 Wh kg−1 at power density of 1 kW kg−1. The above results provide valuable information which may be used when developing novel compositions of EDLCs. 相似文献

We overview the results of recent experimental and theoretical studies of nonlinear dynamics of mid-infrared quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) associated with nonlinear interactions of laser modes. Particular attention is paid to phase-sensitive nonlinear mode mixing which turns out to be quite prominent in QCLs of different kinds and which gives rise to frequency and phase locking of laser modes. Nonlinear phase coupling of laser modes in QCLs leads to a variety of ultrafast and coherent phenomena: synchronization of transverse modes, beam steering, the RNGH multimode instability, and generation of mode-locked ultrashort pulses. 相似文献

In this note we describe the maximal and the minimal values of Lyapunov exponents for second-order discrete time-invariant linear system perturbed by time-varying bounded perturbations.
