The effect of reducing the molar mass of the shell layer of core–shell latex particles on film-forming and final coating properties of self-crosslinking latexes was investigated. Latex particles were prepared by the semi-continuous non-seeded emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate and methacrylic acid as main monomers. The particle core was slightly cross-linked (using a constant amount of allyl methacrylate as a comonomer) to prevent the copolymers forming the core phase from migration into the shell phase. For interfacial cross-linking, diacetone acrylamide was copolymerized into the shell layer of latex particles to provide sites for subsequent reaction with adipic acid dihydrazide. The molar mass of copolymers forming the shell layer was systematically varied by isooctyl 3-mercaptopropionate chain transfer agent included in the synthesis of each of the shell layers and the molar mass distribution was determined using size exclusion chromatography coupled with a multi-angle light scattering detection. Fundamental properties of latexes and cast films were systematically compared. These properties included minimum film-forming temperature, pendulum hardness, adhesion, impact resistance, stress–strain properties as well as the characterization of water absorption. The results confirmed theoretical predictions and described empirically the effects of reducing the molar mass of the shell layer copolymer on final properties of coating films.  相似文献

The sterol composition of Spheciospongia vesparia from the Caribbean Sea is reported. Three groups of sterols, Δ5, Δ0, Δ5,7, were found. The isolated 5α,8α-epidioxy sterols appeared to be predominantly, if not exclusively, artifacts. The auto-oxidation of native Δ5,7-sterols to 5α,8α-epidioxy sterols has been investigated. A transformation of dietary Δ5-sterols to Δ5,7-sterols has been demonstrated in Spheciospongia vesparia. © 1998 SCI  相似文献

Pharmacogenetics is one of the cornerstones of Personalized Precision Medicine that needs to be implemented in the routine of our patients’ clinical management in order to tailor their therapies as much as possible, with the aim of maximizing efficacy and minimizing toxicity. This is of great importance, especially in pediatric cancer and even more in complex malignancies such as neuroblastoma, where the rates of therapeutic success are still below those of many other types of tumors. The studies are mainly focused on germline genetic variants and in the present review, state of the art is presented: which are the variants that have a level of evidence high enough to be implemented in the clinic, and how to distinguish them from the ones that still need validation to confirm their utility. Further aspects as relevant characteristics regarding ontogeny and future directions in the research will also be discussed.  相似文献

Eukarya pyruvate kinases possess glutamate at position 117 (numbering of rabbit muscle enzyme), whereas bacteria have either glutamate or lysine. Those with E117 are K+-dependent, whereas those with K117 are K+-independent. In a phylogenetic tree, 80% of the sequences with E117 are occupied by T113/K114/T120 and 77% of those with K117 possess L113/Q114/(L,I,V)120. This work aims to understand these residues’ contribution to the K+-independent pyruvate kinases using the K+-dependent rabbit muscle enzyme. Residues 117 and 120 are crucial in the differences between the K+-dependent and -independent mutants. K+-independent activity increased with L113 and Q114 to K117, but L120 induced structural differences that inactivated the enzyme. T120 appears to be key in folding the protein and closure of the lid of the active site to acquire its active conformation in the K+-dependent enzymes. E117K mutant was K+-independent and the enzyme acquired the active conformation by a different mechanism. In the K+-independent apoenzyme of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, K72 (K117) flips out of the active site; in the holoenzyme, K72 faces toward the active site bridging the substrates through water molecules. The results provide evidence that two different mechanisms have evolved for the catalysis of this reaction.  相似文献

A growing body of preclinical evidence indicates that certain cannabinoids, including cannabidiol (CBD) and synthetic derivatives, may play a role in the myelinating processes and are promising small molecules to be developed as drug candidates for management of demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS), stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI), which are three of the most prevalent demyelinating disorders. Thanks to the properties described for CBD and its interesting profile in humans, both the phytocannabinoid and derivatives could be considered as potential candidates for clinical use. In this review we will summarize current advances in the use of CBD and other cannabinoids as future potential treatments. While new research is accelerating the process for the generation of novel drug candidates and identification of druggable targets, the collaboration of key players such as basic researchers, clinicians and pharmaceutical companies is required to bring novel therapies to the patients.  相似文献

Contradictory results have been found in the response of dairy goats to the supplementation of fish oil in their diet to improve the n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in milk. The responses to the inclusion of fish oil in the diet of ruminants either induced milk fat depression, increased milk fat content, and/or negatively impacted milk yield. The objective of this study was to determine whether including a low dose of encapsulated fish oil in the diet of goats can modify yield, milk composition, and the fatty acid (FA) profile of milk. Ten Alpine goats were divided into two homogeneous subgroups and assigned to either the control or experimental diet. The control animals received the basal diet without supplementation of fish oil, whereas the experimental group was given the same basal diet supplemented with encapsulated fish oil (1.14 g /kg of concentrate) for 56 days. Milk samples were analyzed for chemical composition and FA profile. The inclusion of encapsulated fish oil in the goat diet did not affect the yield and composition of goat milk. The effect of diet was not significant on the FA profile of goat milk, except that 20:0 was lower (P < 0.05) in the milk of goats that received fish oil. The low dose of encapsulated fish oil supplement used in this study did not impact (P > 0.05) the PUFA content of goat milk or milk composition and yield; however, the atherogenicity index (AI), which is beneficial to heart health, was lower (P < 0.05) in the milk of goats that received fish oil as a supplement in their diet compared to the control.  相似文献

Walnuts contain signi?cant amounts of bioactive compounds such as polyphenols. The aim of the present study was to determine the differences in phenolic composition and polyphenolic in vitro availability of 10 genotypes of walnuts. All analyzed genotypes showed high flavonoid and non-flavonoid phenolic compounds, especially Eureka and Tehama genotypes. Ellagic acid and syringic acid were the mayor non-flavonoids. Regarding flavonoids, catechin and procyanidin B2 were the most abundant, covering about 98% of total flavonoids. The in vitro digestion showed flavonoids as the most available polyphenols, especially catechin, gallocatechin, and epigallocatechin gallate.  相似文献
