Reactions of 1,4-dioxa-2-silacyclohexanes with acetyl chloride

The reactions of 1,4-dioxa-2-silacyclohexanes with acetyl chloride lead to the cleavage of the Si−O bond to form chlorotriorganosilanes containing the acetoxy group in the organic radical at the silicon atom. Hydrolysis of these chlorosilanes affords bis(acetoxy-alkoxy(aryloxy)methyl)disiloxanes, while the reactions with cage copper sodium phenylsiloxane give dodecaphenyl[dodeca(acetoxyorganodimethylsilyloxy)]cyclododecasiloxanes. Interlaboratory comparisons between results from testing metallurgical products for precious metal content

Problems verifying the accuracy of analyses of non-standardized materials for precious metal (PM) content have arisen at the Norilsky Nickel plant, which is a major producer of nickel, copper, and PMs in Russia. Because of the unavailability of certified reference samples for direct accuracy verification, a program of interlaboratory comparisons (ILC) was developed. This program was based on testing three semi-products of the PM production process for PM content. On program completion, a total of 826 results in 98 runs had been obtained. For each run, the calculated mean value of PM concentration was taken to be the reference value. The results obtained by Norilsky Nickel were in agreement with the reference values within the standard deviations calculated for the values. The quality of results yielded with the ILC program, as assessed via the Z-criterion, is regarded as satisfactory.Presented at the Second International Conference on Metrology – Trends and Applications in Calibration and Testing Laboratories, November 4–6, 2003, Eilat, Israel.     

Synthesis of Aminoalcohols of the Adamantane Series

The reduction of - and -aminoketones and enaminoketones of the adamantane series with sodium borohydride in methanol at room temperature gives the corresponding adamantylaminoalkanols.     

Structure of the Products of Stimulated Carbonization of Aromatic Hydrocarbons

This paper deals with X-ray photoelectron and electron microscopy studies of the structure of carbon–metal-containing micro- and nanotubulenes. Ab initio quantum-chemical calculations were performed to analyze the possibility and mechanism of tubulene formation.     

The Molecular Complexes of Calix[4]resorcinolarene with Diglycidylmethyl Phosphonate

The formation of strong molecular complexes of calix[4]recorcinolarene with the polyfunctional phosphoorganic compound diglycidylmethyl phosphonate was observed in organic media. Complexes of different compositions were obtained with the ratio of the initial reagents of 1 : 1 and 1 : 4. Three complexes were isolated and characterized by elemental analysis; their ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectroscopic parameters are also discussed.
