Nanocrystalline lanthanum strontium manganite (LSM) powder has been synthesized by combustion of a transparent gel obtained by the polymerization of methylol urea and urea in a solution containing La3+, Sr2+, and Mn2+ (LSM ions). Chemistry of the transparent urea–formaldehyde (UF) polymer gel formation and structure of the gel have been proposed such that the LSM ions act in between the growing UF polymer chains by interacting through NH, OH, and CO groups by co-ordination and prevent polymer self-assembly through inter-chain hydrogen bonding as evidenced from infrared spectrum. Thermally stable structures formed by the decomposition of UF polymer below 300°C undergo combustion in the presence of nitrate oxidant in a temperature range from 350°–450°C. A perovskite LSM phase has been formed by self-sustained combustion of the dried gel initiated with little kerosene. The powder obtained after deagglomeration and calcination at 600°C for 2 h has a D 50 value of 0.19 μm, and the particles are aggregates of crystallites 10–25 nm in size.  相似文献

Neuroimaging studies have been inconclusive in characterizing the role of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) for maintaining increasingly larger amounts of information in working memory (WM). To address this question, the authors collected event-related functional MRI data while participants performed an item-recognition task in which the number of to-be-remembered letters was parametrically modulated. During maintenance of information in WM, the dorsolateral and the ventrolateral PFC exhibited linearly increasing activation in response to increasing WM load. Prefrontal regions could not be distinguished from one another on the basis of load sensitivity, but the dorsolateral PFC had stronger functional connectivity with the parietal and motor cortex than the ventrolateral PFC. These results suggest an increasingly important role for the PFC in actively maintaining information as the amount of that information increases. Soft X-ray resonant diffraction is a new technique and there exist several examples of large resonant enhancements of charge and magnetic scattering that can be obtained at the L-edges of 3d transition metal oxides. Here we have employed resonant soft X-ray scattering at the manganese L edges which provide a direct measurement of the orbital ordering. We have studied the layered manganite La0.5Sr1.5MnO4 that displays charge, spin, and orbital ordering. Energy scans at constant wavevector show that there are two separate contributions to the observed scattering, direct Goodenough orbital ordering and strong cooperative Jahn–Teller distortions of the Mn3+ ions. Finally we will show how that the charge, spin and orbital degrees of freedom are strongly correlated in these materials.  相似文献

A distributed multimedia document presentation involves retrieval of objects from one or more document servers and their presentation at the client system. The presentation of the multimedia objects has to be carried out in accordance with the specification of temporal relationships between the objects. The retrieval of multimedia objects from the document server(s) is influenced by factors such as temporal specification of objects presentations, throughput offered by the network service provider, and the buffer resources on the client system. Flexibility in the temporal specification of the multimedia document may help in deriving an object retrieval schedule that can handle variations in network throughput and buffer resource availability. In this paper, we develop techniques for deriving a flexible object retrieval schedule for a distributed multimedia document presentation. The schedule is based on flexible temporal specification of the multimedia document using the difference constrai nts approach. We show how the derived retrieval schedule can be validated and modified to ensure that it can work with the offered network throughput and the available buffer resources.  相似文献

This investigation was carried out to evaluate the antioxidant effect of turmeric (turmeric 1000 ppm, turmeric 5000 ppm), nitrite (nitrite 200 ppm) and ascorbic acid (ascorbic acid 500 ppm) on raw minced chicken stored at 4 ± 1 °C. Physicochemical properties [pH, water activity, cooking loss, thiobarbituric acid (TBA) value, peroxide value (PV), free fatty acid (FFA)] were evaluated on 0, 2, 4 and 6th day of storage. Highly significant differences (P < 0.01) in pH, TBA value, PV and FFA value were noticed between treatments and between storage periods. TBA values were observed to be lowest for nitrite 200 ppm and then turmeric 5000 ppm, and there was no significant difference between nitrite 200 ppm and turmeric 5000 ppm, and both were superior to ascorbic acid 500 ppm and turmeric 1000 ppm. Among different treatments, PV was found to be lowest in turmeric 5000 ppm and highest in nitrite 200 ppm. FFA value was found to be lowest in turmeric 5000 ppm and highest in ascorbic acid 500 ppm among all treated samples. It can be concluded that turmeric has potential to replace synthetic antioxidants presently used in meat processing with many added advantages.  相似文献

Engineering components can be subjected to normal and/or rotational fretting wear with contacts that are intermittently exposed to the atmosphere. Exposure to the environment may lead to the alteration at the contact due to the changing role of third body particles such as hard oxides which can result in abrasion. The abrasion due to hard oxide particles differs for the closed contact and intermittently opened contact. In the former scenario, the oxides are compacted into tribo-film, while in the latter case they remain loose, leading to bigger role of abrasion. Standard fretting test setup employed to estimate the fretting wear characteristic operates with a constant load such that the contact remains closed between the counter surfaces and does not simulate the opening and closing of the contacts as observed in certain applications. The forceful interruptions to the experiments to simulate open and close condition of the contact require considerable amount of time and effort. In this paper, an accelerated test procedure is proposed and investigated to capture the effect of intermittent opening of the contact without stopping the experiments. A test rig is designed to simulate the opening and closing conditions, and tests were performed with abrasive diamond-like particles. Friction and wear results are compared with those of intermittently contact opening conditions along with operating wear mechanisms. Scanning electron microscope analysis showed that the wear mechanism observed in the case of fretting with intermittent opening of contact is similar to that of fretting with diamond-like abrasives at the contact.  相似文献

Microsegregation of alloying elements is prone to hot cracking in the weldment of alloy C-276. The formation of topologically close packed phases P and µ is largely responsible for the hot cracking. The present study articulates the effect of laser shock peening (LSP) to improve the metallurgical and mechanical properties of the weld joint. The weld joint was fabricated by pulsed current gas tungsten arc welding (PCGTAW) using an ERNiCrMo-3 filler wire. LSP without coating was carried out on the cap surface of the weldment. Microstructural studies were carried out to compare the as-welded and laser-peened microstructure on the fusion zone. The results show that a fine equiaxed dendritic structure was observed in both conditions. EDS analysis was carried out to evaluate the microsegregation of alloying elements. EDS analysis indicates that there are no secondary intermetallic phases. X-ray diffraction analysis was carried out to evaluate the phase change and crystallite size in the as-welded and laser shock peened fusion zone. The result shows 48.99% reduction in crystallite size after LSP. Hardness and tensile strength results indicate there is a consequential increase in laser shock peened specimen compared with as-welded specimen.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of 2,3-dihydroxyflavone on the corrosion of mild steel in 100-600 ppm aqueous hydrochloric acid solution has been investigated by weight loss and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The corrosion inhibition efficiency increases with increasing concentration and time. The effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior of mild steel in 1 M HCl with addition of inhibitor was studied at the temperature range of 300-330 K. UV-Vis, FTIR, and surface analysis (SEM) was also carried out to establish the corrosion inhibitive property of this inhibitor in HCl solution. The adsorption of this inhibitor on the mild steel surface obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Electrochemical studies reveal that the inhibitor is a cathodic type.  相似文献
