The effect of inertial particles with different specific heat on heat transfer in particle-laden turbulent channel flows is studied using the direct numerical simulation(DNS) and the Lagrangian particle tracking method. The simulation uses a two-way coupling model to consider the momentum and thermal interactions between the particles and turbulence. The study shows that the temperature fields display differences between the particle-laden flow with different specific heat particles and the particle-free flow,indicating that the particle specific heat is an important factor that affects the heat transfer process in a particle-laden flow. It is found that the heat transfer capacity of the particle-laden flow gradually increases with the increase of the particle specific heat. This is due to the positive contribution of the particle increase to the heat transfer. In addition,the Nusselt number of a particle-laden flow is compared with that of a particle-free flow.It is found that particles with a large specific heat strengthen heat transfer of turbulent flow, while those with small specific heat weaken heat transfer of turbulent flow.  相似文献

The direct numerical simulation(DNS) of heat transfer in a fully developed non-isothermal particle-laden turbulent channel flow is performed.The focus of this paper is on the modulation of the particles on turbulent thermal statistics in the particle-laden flow with three Prandtl numbers(P r = 0.71,1.5,and 3.0) and a shear Reynolds number(Reτ = 180).Some typical thermal statistics,including normalized mean temperature and their fluctuations,turbulent heat fluxes,Nusselt number and so on,are analyzed.The results show that the particles have less effects on turbulent thermal fields with the increase of Prandtl number.Two reasons can explain this.First,the correlation between fluid thermal field and velocity field decreases as the Prandtl number increases,and the modulation of turbulent velocity field induced by the particles has less influence on the turbulent thermal field.Second,the heat exchange between turbulence and particles decreases for the particle-laden flow with the larger Prandtl number,and the thermal feedback of the particles to turbulence becomes weak.  相似文献

This paper presents a review of authors' collective works in the field of two-phase flow modeling done in the past few decades. The paper is aimed at the construction of mathematical models for simulation of particle-laden turbulent flows. A kinetic equation was obtained for the probability density function (PDF) of the particle velocity distribution in turbulent flows. The proposed kinetic equation describes both the interaction of particles with turbulent eddies of the carrier phase and particle-particle collisions. This PDF equation is used for the derivation of different schemes describing turbulent momentum transfer in the dispersed particle phase. The turbulent characteristics of the gaseous phase are calculated on the basis of the k - turbulence model with a modulation effect of particles on the turbulence.

The constructed models have been applied to the calculation of various two-phase gas-particle turbulent flows in jets and channels as well as particle deposition in tubes and separators. For validating the theoretical and numerical results, a wide range of comparisons with experimental data from Russian and foreign sources has been done.  相似文献

非球形颗粒两相流是多相流的重要研究方向之一, 常见于自然界及工业生产过程中. 不同于球形颗粒, 由于非球形颗粒形状的各向异性, 除了颗粒平动行为, 还需要考虑颗粒的转动与取向行为, 颗粒的取向与转动行为会影响颗粒所受的力和力矩. 为了准确模拟非球形颗粒的运动行为, 目前非球形颗粒两相流的数值模拟研究主要基于欧拉?拉格朗日的求解框架展开, 常见的非球形颗粒两相流数值模拟方法主要包括点颗粒法与全分辨颗粒法. 本文将对这两类方法进行介绍, 同时会全面介绍非球形颗粒两相流研究的基础理论模型, 并系统总结非球形颗粒在简单基本流和复杂湍流中的研究进展, 包括对于非球形颗粒在湍流中的取向与转动行为机理, 以及颗粒对湍流减阻调制作用的研究. 最后, 本文提出了非球形颗粒两相流研究存在的问题及未来研究方向.   相似文献

A Cartesian grid-based sharp interface method is presented for viscous simulations of shocked particle-laden flows. The moving solid–fluid interfaces are represented using level sets. A moving least-squares reconstruction is developed to apply the no-slip boundary condition at solid–fluid interfaces and to supply viscous stresses to the fluid. The algorithms developed in this paper are benchmarked against similarity solutions for the boundary layer over a fixed flat plate and against numerical solutions for moving interface problems such as shock-induced lift-off of a cylinder in a channel. The framework is extended to 3D and applied to calculate low Reynolds number steady supersonic flow over a sphere. Viscous simulation of the interaction of a particle cloud with an incident planar shock is demonstrated; the average drag on the particles and the vorticity field in the cloud are compared to the inviscid case to elucidate the effects of viscosity on momentum transfer between the particle and fluid phases. The methods developed will be useful for obtaining accurate momentum and heat transfer closure models for macro-scale shocked particulate flow applications such as blast waves and dust explosions.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the application of spectral-based methods to simulation of particle-laden turbulent flows. The primary focus of the article is on the past and ongoing works by the authors. The particles are tracked in Lagrangian framework, while direct numerical simulation (DNS) or large-eddy simulation (LES) is used to describe the carrier-phase flow field. Two different spectral methods are considered, namely Fourier pseudo-spectral method and Chebyshev multidomain spectral method. The pseudo-spectral method is used for the simulation of homogeneous turbulence. DNS of both incompressible and compressible flows with one- and two-way couplings are reported. For LES of particle-laden flows, two new models, developed by the authors, account for the effect of sub-grid fluctuations on the dispersed phase. The Chebyshev multidomain method is employed for the works on inhomogeneous flows. A number of canonical flows are discussed, including flow past a square cylinder, channel flow and flow over backward-facing step. Ongoing research on particle-laden LES of inhomogeneous flows is briefly reported.  相似文献

Radiation absorption by preferentially concentrated particles in a turbulent square duct flow is studied experimentally. The particle-laden flow is exposed to near-infrared radiation, and the gas phase temperature statistics are measured along the wall bisector of the duct. It is found that the instantaneous temperature fluctuations are comparable to the overall mean temperature rise. The temperature statistics at the duct centerline and near the wall are qualitatively different. The former reflects preferential concentration in isotropic flows while the latter displays evidence of particle clustering into streamwise elongated streaks. Comparison of the experimental data to a simplified heat transfer model suggests that the Lagrangian evolution of particle clusters and voids, and turbulent mixing in the vicinity of particle clusters, are important. This work was motivated by particle solar receiver technology, but the findings are also relevant to systems where there is localized heat release or mass transfer from disperse particles or droplets. It shows that obtaining Lagrangian histories of particle trajectories is an important next step towards understanding thermal transport phenomena in particle-laden turbulent flows.  相似文献

The temperature distribution in particle-laden turbulent flow, in a flume, was investigated both by DNS and experimentally. Simulations were performed at Re=171 and Pr=5.4 in order to study the interaction between the particle motion and flow turbulence. Two-way coupling was used to obtain various turbulence statistics, the grid resolution was sufficiently fine to resolve all essential turbulent scales. The effect of particle diameter on momentum, heat transfer and particle deposition was considered. The details of particle-turbulence interaction depend on the particle Stokes number and the particle Reynolds number.

The spatial structures of instantaneous flow and temperature fields were visualized. Low frequency small oscillations of deposited particles were observed. It was found that these small deviations from the initial position, caused strong changes in the instantaneous temperature field near the particle.

The experiments provided details of the temperature field on the heated wall close to the particle. In the front of the particle, a sharp increase in heat transfer coefficient was observed. The experimental results agree well with the computational predictions.  相似文献

The accuracy of point-particle models with two-way coupling for particles of Kolmogorov-length-scale size is assessed. Turbulent kinetic energy budgets are analyzed in physical and in spectral space. It is shown that the force projection of the two-way coupling consistently models the direct transfer of kinetic energy on the particle surfaces and the enhanced viscous dissipation in the vicinity of the particles. Direct and large-eddy simulations of particle-laden flows in isotropic decaying turbulence are conducted and compared with direct-particle fluid simulations, where the particle-fluid interaction is fully resolved. An analysis in spectral space shows that turbulence modulation by particles mainly occurs at larger scales, although the momentum transfer takes place at the smallest scales. Therefore, the turbulent kinetic energy cascade of the single phase dominates in particle-laden flows. It is shown that point-particle models do not interfere with subgrid scale models, which usually act on the smallest scale. Consequently, point-particle models predict sufficiently accurate the turbulence modulation in direct numerical simulations and even when a subgrid scale model is used. The resolution of the LES does not affect the accuracy of the point-particle model, when the subgrid kinetic energy is negligible.  相似文献

Skin friction drag is much greater in turbulent flows as compared with that in laminar flows. It is well known that traveling wave control can be used to achieve a large drag reduction. In the present study, a direct numerical simulation of a turbulent pipe flow was performed to clarify the mechanism of the drag reduction caused by the traveling wave control. The flow induced by the control was evaluated using pathline analysis. Near the wall, a “closed flow” was formed, wherein the injected particles return to the wall owing to the suction flow. The random component of Reynolds shear stress was perfectly suppressed in the closed flow, which suggests that there was no turbulence. The controlled flow was categorized into four patterns, and each flow characteristic and drag reduction effect was discussed. When the closing rate is high, the drag decreases, while when the closing rate is low, i.e., when the injected particles are released into the main flow, the turbulence is maintained. If the thickness of the layer suppressing turbulence is insufficient, a significant effect in terms of the drag reduction cannot be expected. The large drag reduction owing to the traveling wave control can be attributed to the elimination of turbulence in the region near the wall.  相似文献

The objective of this part of the paper is to summarize the information concerning the authors' works in the field of simulation of two-phase gas-particle turbulent flows with heat transfer and combustion. A kinetic equation had been derived for the probability density function (PDF) of the particle velocity, temperature, and mass distributions in turbulent flows. This PDF equation is used for the construction of the governing conservation equations of mass, momentum, and heat transfer in the dispersed particle phase.The numerical scheme incorporates two-phase fluid dynamics, convective and radiative heat transfer, and combustion. The proposed models have been applied to the calculation of various particle-laden turbulent flows in jets, combustion and gasification chambers, and furnaces.  相似文献

添加剂湍流减阻是指在液体的管道湍流中添加少量的高分子聚合物或某种表面活性剂从而使湍流阻力大大降低的现象.从其被发现至今,经过近半个世纪的研究(实验研究、理论分析、数值模拟和实际系统的应用研究),尽管对这一现象及其实际应用价值已有了较为深入的认识,但仍有许多方面尚有欠缺,例如对湍流减阻的机理仍然在探索中.本文归纳评述了高分子聚合物或表面活性剂添加剂湍流减阻流动与换热现象的研究现状,从湍流减阻剂的特性、减阻剂的湍流减阻机理、湍流减阻发生时的换热机理、减阻流动速度场分布和换热控制等几个方面综述了添加剂湍流减阻流动与换热特性,并综述了湍流减阻剂在实际工业系统中的应用情况,在对添加剂湍流减阻机理、有湍流减阻发生时的对流换热机理等的理解方面进行了新的总结.   相似文献

The transfer of energy in drag reducing viscoelastic flows is analyzed through a sequence of energetic budgets that include the mean and turbulent kinetic energy, and the mean polymeric energy and mean elastic potential energy. Within the context of single-point statistics, this provides a complete picture of the energy exchange between the mean, turbulent and polymeric fields. The analysis utilizes direct simulation data of a fully developed channel flow at a moderately high friction Reynolds number of 1000 and at medium (30%) and high (58%) drag reduction levels using a FENE-P polymeric model.Results show that the primary effect of the interaction between the turbulent and polymeric fields is to transfer energy from the turbulence to the polymer, and that the magnitude of this transfer does not change between the low and high drag reduction flows. This one-way transfer, with an amplitude independent of the drag reduction regime, comes in contradiction with the purely elastic coupling which is implicit within the elastic theory of the polymer drag reduction phenomenon by Tabor and De Gennes (Europhys. Frequency spectra of air turbulence of particle-laden flows were investigated by use of a laser-Doppler velocimeter to discover the eddy-length scales that are influenced by the transported particles. The influence of glass and steel particles of 100–1,000 μm diameter was measured in a horizontal channel and a horizontal pipe for the streamwise and transverse components of the velocity vector. Particles that were small compared with the integral length scale of the particle-laden flow decrease the turbulent power density of the greatest eddies in varying degrees, depending on mass loading and distance from the wall. All fractions create turbulence in their wakes, the size of which depends on loading and slip velocity. These results support the hypothesis that the particles consume energy by following the large eddies that are much greater than the particle diameters, and in so doing, turbulence is created by this energy. This paper presents results of a large eddy simulation (LES) combined with Lagrangian particle tracking and a point-force approximation for the feedback effect of particles on the downward turbulent gaseous flow in a vertical channel. The LES predictions are compared with the results obtained by direct numerical simulation (DNS) of a finer computational mesh. A parametric study is conducted for particles with two response times in simulations with and without streamwise gravitational settling and elastic, binary interparticle collisions. It is shown that the classical and the dynamic Smagorinsky turbulence models adequately predict the particle-induced changes in the mean streamwise velocity and the Reynolds stresses of the carrier phase for the range of parameters studied. However, the largest discrepancies between the LES and DNS results are found in the cases of particle-laden flows. Conditional sampling of the instantaneous resolved flow fields indicates that the mechanisms by which particles directly oppose the production of momentum and vorticity of the organized fluid motions are also observed in the LES results. However, the geometric features of the near-wall quasistreamwise vortices are overestimated by the use of both turbulence models compared to the DNS predictions.  相似文献

A numerical formulation for Eulerian–Lagrangian simulations of particle-laden flows in complex geometries is developed. The formulation accounts for the finite-size of the dispersed phase. Similar to the commonly used point-particle formulation, the dispersed particles are treated as point-sources, and the forces acting on the particles are modeled through drag and lift correlations. In addition to the inter-phase momentum exchange, the presence of particles affects the fluid phase continuity and momentum equations through the displaced fluid volume. Three flow configurations are considered in order to study the effect of finite particle size on the overall flowfield: (a) gravitational settling, (b) fluidization by a gaseous jet, and (c) fluidization by lift in a channel. The finite-size formulation is compared to point-particle representations, which do not account for the effect of finite-size. It is shown that the fluid displaced by the particles plays an important role in predicting the correct behavior of particle motion. The results suggest that the standard point-particle approach should be modified to account for finite particle size, in simulations of particle-laden flows.  相似文献

Large eddy simulation (LES) of low Mach num- ber compressible turbulent channel flow with spanwise wall oscillation (SWO) is carried out. The flow field is analyzed with emphases laid on the heat transport as well as its rela- tion with momentum transport. When turbulent coherent structures are suppressed by SWO, the turbulent transports are significantly changed, however the momentum and heat transports change in the same manner, which gives the evi- dence of inherently consistent transport mechanisms between momentum and heat in turbulent boundary layers. The Reynolds analogies of all the flow cases are quite good, which confirms again the fact that the transport mechanisms of momentum and heat are consistent, which gives theoreti- cal support for controlling the wall heat flux control by using the drag reducing techniques.  相似文献

Turbulent heat transfer in a ribbed square duct of three different blockage ratios are investigated using direct numerical simulation (DNS). The results of ribbed duct cases are compared with those of a heated smooth duct flow. It is observed that owing to the existence of the ribs and confinement of the duct, organized secondary flows appear as large streamwise-elongated vortices, which intensely interact with the rib elements and four sidewalls and have profound influences on the transport of momentum and thermal energy. This study also shows that the drag and heat transfer coefficients are highly sensitive to the rib height. It is observed that as the rib height increases, the impinging effect of the flow on the windward face of the rib strengthens, leading to enhanced rates of turbulent mixing and heat transfer. The influence of sidewalls and rib height on the turbulence structures associated with temperature fluctuations are analyzed based on multiple tools such as vortex swirling strengths, temporal auto-correlations, spatial two-point cross-correlations, joint probability density functions (JPDF) between the temperature and velocity fluctuations, statistical moments of different orders, and temperature spectra.  相似文献
