Diffusion-induced stress plays an important role in determining structural integrity of mechanical structures used in lithium-ion batteries and microelectromechanical devices. Incorporating the diffusion-induced bending in the analysis of the diffusion-induced stress in an elastic hollow cylinder, analytical forms of the diffusion-induced resultant axial stress and hoop stress have been formulated for the traction-free condition and the built-in condition at the end faces of the cylinder. Using these results, the evolution of the diffusion-induced stress at the end faces of a hollow, elastic electrode due to the insertion of lithium is discussed under the potentiostatic operation. The end faces of the electrode experience compressive hoop stress through the thickness in contrast to the stress state in the hollow cylinder far away from the end faces. The magnitude of the resultant hoop stress decreases with increasing the diffusion time for the traction-free end faces; it increases with increasing the diffusion time near the inner surface for the built-in end faces.  相似文献

Analytical solutions for the flexural-gravity wave resistances due to a line source steadily moving on the surface of an infinitely deep fluid are investigated within the framework of the linear potential theory. The homogenous fluid, covered by a thin elastic plate, is assumed to be incompressible and inviscid, and the motion to be irrotational. The solution in integral form for the wave resistance is obtained by means of the Fourier transform and the explicitly analytical solutions are derived with the aid of the residue theorem. The dispersion relation shows that there is a minimal phase speed cmin, a threshold for the existence of the wave resistance. No wave is generated when the moving speed of the source V is less than cmin while the wave resistances firstly increase to their peak values and then decrease when V ? cmin. The effects of the flexural rigidity and the inertia of the plate are studied.  相似文献

The paper deals with the plane problem of steady-state time harmonic vibrations of an infinite elastic plate resting on a water-saturated porous solid. The displacements of the plate are described by means of the linear theory of small elastic oscillations. The motion of the two-phase medium is studied within the framework of Biot's linear theory of consolidation. The main interest is focused on the investigation of properties of the Rayleigh-type waves propagating alongside of the contact surface between the plate and the porous half-space. In particular, the dependence of the phase velocity and attenuation of the waves on the plate stiffness, mass coupling coefficient, and degree of saturation of the medium is studied. Besides, for the limiting case of an infinitely thin plate, the comparison of the wave characteristics is carried out with those of the pure Rayleigh waves.  相似文献

The unsteady behavior of an elastic beam composed of hinged homogeneous sections, which freely floats on the surface of an ideal incompressible fluid, is studied within the framework of the linear shallow water theory. The unsteady behavior of the beam is due to incidence of a localized surface wave or initial deformation. Beam deflection is sought in the form of an expansion with respect to eigenfunctions of oscillations in vacuum with time-dependent amplitudes. The problem is reduced to solving an infinite system of ordinary differential equations for unknown amplitudes. The impact of a rigid sphere on a homogeneous, isotropic elastic half-space in the absence of friction and adhesion is considered. The influence of the superseismic stage immediately following the moment of first contact upon the impact process is investigated in the frame of the Hertzian impact theory. The first order asymptotic approximation for the contact force in a three-dimensional dynamic contact problem with the slowly moving contact zone boundary is obtained and the corresponding asymptotic model of impact is developed. The motion of the indenter as it indents and rebounds from the elastic medium is analytically described. Explicit formulas are derived for the peak indentation depth, contact time, and rebound velocity as functions of the initial impact velocity, indenter mass, and characteristics of the elastic half-space.  相似文献

The nonstationary indentation of a rigid blunt indenter into an elastic layer is studied. An approach to solving a mixed initial-boundary-value problem with an unknown moving boundary is developed. The problem is reduced to an infinite system of integral equations and the equation of motion of the indenter. The system is solved numerically. The propagation of elastic stress waves in a conical shell subjected to axial impulsive loading is studied in this paper by means of the finite element calculation and model experiments. It is shown that there are two axisymmetrical elastic stress waves propagating with different velocities, i.e., the longitudinal wave and the bending wave. The attenuation of these waves while propagating along the shell surface is discussed. It is found in experiments that the bending wave is also generated when a longitudinal wave reflects from the fixed end of the shell, and both reflected waves will separate during the propagation due to their different velocities. The evolution of a weak, nearly plane shock wave produced by the impact on the plane boundary of a compressible liquid is considered. At the initial moment the liquid is at rest and occupies the lower half-plane. Then the points of its boundary get instantly velocities directed into the liquid domain. This leads to the formation of a shock wave the intensity of which is non-uniform due to a non-uniform distribution of the impact velocities. Initially the shock wave is plane but then it bends due to the non-linear effects and can later be focused. To analyze the liquid flow, the method of matched asymptotic expansions is used. For finite times the flow and the evolution of the shock wave are described within the framework of the acoustic approximation. For large times the flow becomes non-linear, and the form of the shock front depends essentially on the characteristics of the liquid flow behind it. If the non-uniformity of the impact velocity distribution is slight then the focusing of the shock wave is shown not to occur. The influence of viscosity of the liquid on the structure of its motion is discussed.  相似文献

采用有限元方法研究裂纹在I型短脉冲载荷作用下应力强度因子随时间的变化 ,用应力强度因子的初始上升时间Tr 对时间坐标无量纲化 ,对应力强度因子初始上升段进行曲线拟合 ,得到了上升段的曲线表达式。运用简单弹性梁理论和Lagrangian运动方程 ,获得载荷与时间对裂纹作用的关系式 ,结合有限元的结果 ,得到了上升时间Tr 的计算表达式 ,并进一步推出了裂纹在冲击载荷作用下起裂的临界载荷面。  相似文献

In this paper, a fluid–wall interaction model, called the elastic tube model, is introduced to investigate wave propagation in an elastic tube and the effects of different parameters. The unsteady flow was assumed to be laminar, Newtonian and incompressible, and the vessel wall to be linear-elastic, isotropic and incompressible. A fluid–wall interaction scheme is constructed using a finite element method. The results demonstrate that the elastic tube plays an important role in wave propagation. It is shown that there is a time delay between the velocity waveforms at two different locations and that the peak velocity increases while the low velocity decreases in the elastic tube model, contrary to the rigid tube model where velocity waveforms overlap each other. Compared with the elastic tube model, the increase of the wall thickness makes wave propagation faster and the time delay cannot be observed clearly, however, the velocity amplitude is reduced slightly due to the decrease of the internal radius. The fluid–wall interaction model simulates wave propagation successfully and can be extended to study other mechanical properties considering complicated geometrical and material factors.  相似文献

The existence and propagation of transverse surface waves in piezoelectric coupled solids is investigated, in which perfect bonding between a metal/dielectric substrate and a piezoelectric layer of finite-thickness is assumed. Dis- persion equations relating phase velocity to material con- stants for the existence of various modes are obtained in a simple mathematical form for a piezoelectric material of class 6mm. It is discovered and proved by numerical examples in this paper that a novel Bleustein-Gulyaev (B-G) type of transverse surface wave can exist in such piezoelectric cou- pled solid media when the bulk-shear-wave velocity in the substrate is less than that in the piezoelectric layer but greater than the corresponding B-G wave velocity in the same pie- zoelectric material with an electroded surface. Such a wave does not exist in such layered structures in the absence of pie- zoelectricity. The mode shapes for displacement and electric potential in the piezoelectric layer are obtained and discussed theoretically. The study extends the regime of transverse sur- face waves and may lead to potential applications to surface acoustic wave devices.  相似文献

To study the process of impact of a rigid body on the surface of an elastic body made of a composite material, we consider a nonstationary dynamic contact problem about the impact of a plane rigid die on an elastic orthotropic half-plane. The problem is reduced to solving an integral equation of the first kind for the Laplace transform of the contact stresses under the die base. An approximate solution of the integral equation is constructed with the use of a special approximation to the symbol of the kernel of the integral equation in the complex plane. The inverse Laplace transform of the solution results in determining the scalar contact stress field on the die base, the force exerted by the die on the elastic medium, and the vertical displacement field of the free surface of the orthotropic medium out side the die. The solutions thus obtained permit studying specific features of the process of die penetration into an orthotropic medium and the strain properties of the medium.  相似文献

The velocity and the rate of decay of a strain wave in a layer of a viscoelastic material rigidly fixed on a solid foundation are determined. The wave structure (ratio of the longitudinal to the transverse displacement) and the profiles of these displacements are analyzed. Attenuation of waves in the first mode is found to be more significant than that in an infinite space. The most intense decay is observed at resonance frequencies. A strong effect of compressibility of the medium on wave parameters is revealed. Conditions at which such a system operates as a waveguide are found. The paper presents the effect of a rigid boundary on the propagation of torsional surface waves in a porous elastic layer over a porous elastic half-space using the mechanics of the medium derived by Cowin and Nunziato (Cowin, S. C. and Nunziato, J. W. Linear elastic materials with voids. Journal of Elasticity, 13(2), 125–147 (1983)). The velocity equation is derived, and the results are discussed. It is observed that there may be two torsional surface wave fronts in the medium whereas three wave fronts of torsional surface waves in the absence of the rigid boundary plane given by Dey et al. (Dey, S., Gupta, S., Gupta, A. K., Kar, S. K., and De, P. K. Propagation of torsional surface waves in an elastic layer with void pores over an elastic half-space with void pores. Tamkang Journal of Science and Engineering, 6(4), 241–249 (2003)). The results also reveal that in the porous layer, the Love wave is also available along with the torsional surface waves. It is remarkable that the phase speed of the Love wave in a porous layer with a rigid surface is different from that in a porous layer with a free surface. The torsional waves are observed to be dispersive in nature, and the velocity decreases as the oscillation frequency increases.  相似文献
