We investigate the Hall effects of quadratic band crossing(QBC) fermions in a square optical lattice with spin–orbit coupling and orbital Zeeman term. We find that the orbital Zeeman term and shaking play critical roles in the systems, which can drive a topological transition from spin Hall phases to anomalous Hall phase with nonvanishing(spin) Chern numbers. Due to the interplay among the orbital Zeeman term, spin–orbit coupling, and the shaking, the phase diagram of the system exhibits rich phases, which are characterized by Chern number.  相似文献

We investigate symmetrically coupled double quantum dots via the hierarchical equations of motion method and propose a novel zero-energy mode(ZEM) at a temperature above the spin singlet–triplet transition temperature. Owing to the resonance of electron quasi-particle and hole quasi-particle, ZEM has a peak at ω = 0 in the spectral density function. We further examine the effect of the magnetic field on the ZEM, where an entanglement of spin and charge has been determined; therefore, the magnetic field can split the ZEM in the spectra.  相似文献

We investigate the photoconductivities of injection current and the shift current in transition metal dichalcogenide with warping term in the presence of sublattice potential and spin orbit coupling. The system shows the valley photoconductivities of injection current and the photoconductivities of shift current. It is found that the warping term and the geometric tensor play a critical role in the system, which are responsible for the photoconductivities.Due to the interplay between the sublattice potential and the spin orbit coupling, the photoconductivities can be tuned.Furthermore, the effect of warping term on geometric tensor and the amplitude of the photoconductivities are also discussed.  相似文献

The present study pertains to the trilayer graphene in the presence of spin orbit coupling to probe the quantum spin/valley Hall effect. The spin Chern-number C_s for energy-bands of trilayer graphene having the essence of intrinsic spin–orbit coupling is analytically calculated. We find that for each valley and spin, C_s is three times larger in trilayer graphene as compared to single layer graphene. Since the spin Chern-number corresponds to the number of edge states, consequently the trilayer graphene has edge states, three times more in comparison to single layer graphene. We also study the trilayer graphene in the presence of both electric-field and intrinsic spin–orbit coupling and investigate that the trilayer graphene goes through a phase transition from a quantum spin Hall state to a quantum valley Hall state when the strength of the electric field exceeds the intrinsic spin coupling strength. The robustness of the associated topological bulk-state of the trilayer graphene is evaluated by adding various perturbations such as Rashba spin–orbit(RSO) interaction αR, and exchange-magnetization M. In addition, we consider a theoretical model, where only one of the outer layers in trilayer graphene has the essence of intrinsic spin–orbit coupling, while the other two layers have zero intrinsic spin–orbit coupling.Although the first Chern number is non-zero for individual valleys of trilayer graphene in this model, however, we find that the system cannot be regarded as a topological insulator because the system as a whole is not gaped.  相似文献

We have studied the characteristics of current-induced nonequilibrium spin polarization in semiconductor-nanowire/swave superconductor junctions with strong spin–orbit coupling. It was found that within some parameter regions the magnitude of the current-induced nonequilibrium spin polarization density in such structures will increase(or decrease) with the decrease(or increase) of the charge current density, in contrast to that found in normal spin–orbit coupled semiconductor structures. It was also found that the unusual characteristics of the current-induced nonequilibrium spin polarization in such structures can be well explained by the effect of the Andreev reflection.  相似文献

We report a theoretic study on the inverse spin-Hall effect (ISHE) in a two-terminal nano-device that consists of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) with Rashba spin-orbit coupling (RSOC) and two ideal leads. Based on a two-site toy model and Keldysh Green's function method, we derive an analytic result of ISHE, which shows clearly that a nonzero transverse charge current stems from the combined effect of the RSOC, the spin bias, and its spin polarization direction in spin space. Our further numerical calculations in a larger system other than two-site lattice model demonstrate that the transverse charge current, dependent on the strength of the RSOC, the Fermi energy of the system, as well as the system size, can exhibit oscillating behavior and even reverse its sign due to Rashba spin precession. These properties may be helpful for eficient detection of the spin current (spin bias) by measuring the transverse charge current in a spin-orbital coupling system.  相似文献

Valley filter is a promising device for producing valley polarized current in graphene-like two-dimensional honeycomb lattice materials. The relatively large spin–orbit coupling in silicene contributes to remarkable quantum spin Hall effect, which leads to distinctive valley-dependent transport properties compared with intrinsic graphene. In this paper, quantized conductance and valley polarization in silicene nanoconstrictions are theoretically investigated in quantum spinHall insulator phase. Nearly perfect valley filter effect is found by aligning the gate voltage in the central constriction region. However, the valley polarization plateaus are shifted with the increase of spin–orbit coupling strength, accompanied by smooth variation of polarization reversal. Our findings provide new strategies to control the valley polarization in valleytronic devices.  相似文献

We study the properties of superfluid in a two-dimensional(2 D) polarized Fermi gas with spin–orbit coupling and adiabatic rotation which are trapped in a harmonic potential. Due to the competition between polarization, spin–orbit coupling, and adiabatic rotation, the Fermi gas exhibits many intriguing phenomena. By using the Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer(BCS) mean-field method with local density approximation, we investigate the dependence of order parameter solution on the spin–orbit coupling strength and the rotation velocity. The energy spectra with different rotation velocities are studied in detail. Besides, the conditions for the zero-energy Majorana fermions in topological superfluid phase to be observed are obtained. By investigating distributions of number density, we find that the rotation has opposite effect on the distribution of number density with different spins, which leads to the enhancement of the polarization of Fermi gas. Here,we focus on the region of BCS pairing and ignore the Fulde–Ferrell–Larkin–Ovchinnikov state.  相似文献

Motivated by the growing interest in the novel quantum phases in materials with strong electron correlations and spin–orbit coupling, we study the interplay among the spin–orbit coupling, Kondo interaction, and magnetic frustration of a Kondo lattice model on a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice. We calculate the renormalized electronic structure and correlation functions at the saddle point based on a fermionic representation of the spin operators. We find a global phase diagram of the model at half-filling, which contains a variety of phases due to the competing interactions. In addition to a Kondo insulator, there is a topological insulator with valence bond solid correlations in the spin sector, and two antiferromagnetic phases.Due to the competition between the spin–orbit coupling and Kondo interaction, the direction of the magnetic moments in the antiferromagnetic phases can be either within or perpendicular to the lattice plane. The latter antiferromagnetic state is topologically nontrivial for moderate and strong spin–orbit couplings.  相似文献

We propose a theoretical method to investigate the effect of the Dresselhaus spin–orbit coupling(DSOC) on the spin transport properties of a regular polygonal quantum ring with an arbitrary number of segments. We find that the DSOC can break the time reversal symmetry of the spin conductance in a polygonal ring and that this property can be used to reverse the spin direction of electrons in the polygon with the result that a pure spin up or pure spin down conductance can be obtained by exchanging the source and the drain. When the DSOC is considered in a polygonal ring with Rashba spin–orbit coupling(RSOC) with symmetric attachment of the leads, the total conductance is independent of the number of segments when both of the two types of spin–orbit coupling(SOC) have the same value. However, the interaction of the two types of SOC results in an anisotropic and shape-dependent conductance in a polygonal ring with asymmetric attachment of the leads. The method we proposed to solve for the spin conductance of a polygon can be generalized to the circular model.  相似文献

We fabricate high quality superconductor/ferromagnet/superconductor(SFS) Josephson junctions using epitaxial NbN/Ni_(60)Cu_(40)/NbN trilayer heterostructures. Both experimental measurements and theoretical calculations of the ferromagnet layer thickness dependence of the Josephson critical current are performed. We observe the damped oscillation behavior of the critical current as a function of the ferromagnetic layer thickness at 4.2 K,which shows a 0–π phase transition in this type of magnetic Josephson junction. Clear 0– and reverse –0 phase transitions occur around the Ni_(60)Cu_(40) thicknesses of 3.2 and 6.7 nm. Numerical calculations based on the quasi-classical Usadel equation and the Green function fit well with the experimental results. Compared with the dirty limit, the intermediate regime without the dead layer gives better fit for our SFS Josephson junctions because of the epitaxial structure. Both of the 0-and -phase junctions show the ideal magnetic field dependence with a Fraunhofer-like pattern at 4.2 K.  相似文献

We study solitons in a spin-1 Bose–Einstein condensates with SU(3) spin–orbit coupling. We obtain the ground state and the metastable solution for solitons with attractive interactions by the imaginary-time evolution method. Compared with the SU(2) spin–orbit coupling, it is found that the solitons in SU(3) spin–orbit coupling show a new feature due to breaking the symmetry. The solitons called the composite solitons have mixing manifolds of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic states. This has stimulated people to study the topological excitation properties of SU(3) spin–orbit coupling and it is expected to find new quantum phases.  相似文献

By means of the numerical renormalization group method, we study the phase transition, the spectral property, and the temperature-dependent magnetic moment for a parallel double dot system with level difference, where the dot energies are kept symmetric to the half-filled level. A Kosterlitz–Thouless(KT) transition between local spin triplet and singlet is found. In the triplet regime, the local spin is partially screened by the conduction leads and spin-1 Kondo effect is realized. While for the singlet, the Kondo peak is strongly suppressed and the magnetic moment decreases to 0 at a definite low temperature. We attribute this KT transition to the breaking of the reflection symmetry, resulting from the difference of the charge occupations of the two dots. To understand this KT transition and related critical phenomena, detailed scenarios are given in the transmission coefficient and the magnetic moment, and an effective Kondo model refers to the RayleighSchrdinger perturbation theory is used.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the spin transport properties of the Cooper pairs in a conventional Josephson junction with Rashba spin-orbit coupling considered in one of the superconducting leads. It is found that an angle-resolved spin supercurrent flows through the junction and a nonzero interfacial spin Hall current driven by the superconducting phase difference also appears at the interface. The physical origin of this is that the Rashba spin-orbit coupling can induce a triplet order parameter in the s-wave superconductor. The interfacial spin Hall current dependences on the system parameters are also discussed.  相似文献

Spin-filter effect is predicted in a weak coupled junction composed of a nonmagnetic metal electrode and a zigzag carbon nanotube. This effect is induced by the magnetic edge states of the nanotube, and can produce spin- polarized current in the absence of an external magnetic field. We find that the spin polarization of the current changes its sign at the half-filling point of the nanotube, thus electric field control of spin transport can be realized. Furthermore, we find the coupling strength of the junction may cause a magnetic transition on the edge of the nanotube.  相似文献

The interplay of the Rashba effect and the spin Hall effect originating from current induced spin–orbit coupling was investigated in the as-deposited and annealed Pt/Co/MgO stacks with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The above two effects were analyzed based on Hall measurements under external magnetic fields longitudinal and vertical to dc current, respectively. The coercive field as a function of dc current in vertical mode with only the Rashba effect involved decreases due to thermal annealing. Meanwhile, spin orbit torques calculated from Hall resistance with only the spin Hall effect involved in the longitudinal mode decrease in the annealed sample. The experimental results prove that the bottom Pt/Co interface rather than the Co/MgO top one plays a more critical role in both Rashba effect and spin Hall effect.  相似文献

We introduce a generalized Rashba coupling approximation to analytically solve confined two-dimensional electron systems with both the Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit couplings in an external magnetic field. A solvable Hamiltonian is obtained by performing a simple change of basis, which has the same form as that with only Rashba coupling. Each Landau state becomes a new displaced-Fock state instead of the original Harmonic oscillator Fock state. Analytical energies are consistent with the numerical ones in a wide range of coupling strength even for a strong Zeeman splitting, exhibiting the validity of the analytical approximation. By using the eigenstates, spin polarization correctly displays a jump at the energy-level crossing point, where the corresponding spin conductance exhibits a pronounced resonant peak. As the component of the Dresselhaus coupling increases, the resonant point shifts to a smaller value of the magnetic field. In contrast to pure Rashba couplings, we find that the Dresselhaus coupling and Zeeman splittings tend to suppress the resonant spin Hall effect. Our method provides an easy-to-implement analytical treatment to two-dimensional electron gas systems with both types of spin–orbit couplings by applying a magnetic field.  相似文献

We investigated the effect of spin-orbit coupling on magnetoresistance in nonmagnetic organic semiconductors.A Lorentz-type magnetoresistance is obtained from spin-orbit coupling-dependent spin precession under the condition of a space-charge-limited current. The magnetoresistance depends on the initial spin orientation of the electron with respect to the hole in electron-hole pairs, and the increasing spin-orbit coupling slows down the change in magnetoresistance with magnetic field. The field dependence, the sign and the saturation value of the magnetoresistance are composite effects of recombination and dissociation rate constants of singlet and triplet electron-hole pairs. The simulated magnetoresistance shows good consistency with the experimental results.  相似文献

Motivated by recent experimental realization of synthetic spin–orbit coupling in neutral quantum gases, we consider the quasi-two-dimensional rotating two-component Bose–Einstein condensates with anisotropic Rashba spin–orbit coupling subject to concentrically coupled annular potential. For experimentally feasible parameters, the rotating condensate exhibits a variety of rich ground state structures by varying the strengths of the spin–orbit coupling and rotational frequency. Moreover, the phase transitions between different ground state phases induced by the anisotropic spin–orbit coupling are obviously different from the isotropic one.  相似文献

The influence of the off-resonant circularly polarized light on the Josephson current in the time-reversal broken superconducting Weyl semimetal junctions is investigated by using the Bogoliubov–de Gennes equation and the transfer matrix approach. Both the zero momentum BCS pairing states and the finite momentum Fulde–Ferrell–Larkin–Ovchinnikov(FFLO) pairing states are considered for the Weyl superconductors. When a circularly polarized light is applied, it is shown that the current phase relation remains unchanged for the BCS pairing with the increasing of incident radiation intensity A_0. For FFLO pairing, the Josephson current exhibits the 0–π transition and periodic oscillation as a function of A_0. The dependence of free energy and critical current on A_0 are also investigated.  相似文献
