Drewnowski and Paúl proved about ten years ago that for any strongly nonatomic submeasure η on the power set P(?) of the set ? of all natural numbers the ideal of all null sets of η has the Nikodym property (NP). They stated the problem whether the converse is true in general. By presenting an example, Alon, Drewnowski and ?uczak proved recently that the answer is negative. Nevertheless, it is of mathematical interest to identify classes of submeasures η such that η is strongly nonatomic if and only if the set of all null sets of η has the Nikodym property. In this context, the authors proved some years ago that this equivalence holds, for instance, if one restricts the attention to the case of densities defined by regular Riesz matrices or by nonnegative regular Hausdorff methods. Also sufficient and necessary conditions in terms of the matrix coefficients are given, that the defined density is strongly nonatomic. In this paper we extend these investigations to the class of generalized Riesz matrices, introduced by Drewnowski, Florencio and Paúl in 1994.  相似文献

The authors investigated in Boos and Leiger (2008) [5] the ‘duality’ of the Nikodym property (NP) of the set of all null sets of the density defined by any nonnegative matrix and the Hahn property (HP) of the strong null domain of it. In this paper, the investigation of the intimated duality is continued by considering densities defined by sequences of nonnegative matrices. These considerations are motivated by the known result that the ideal of the null sets of the uniform density has NP. In this context the general notion of S-convergence of double sequences (cf. Drewnowski, 2002 [8]) containing Pringsheim convergence, Hardy convergence and uniform convergence of double sequences is used.  相似文献

Let N denote the set of positive integers. The asymptotic density of the set AN is d(A)=limn→∞|A∩[1,n]|/n, if this limit exists. Let AD denote the set of all sets of positive integers that have asymptotic density, and let SN denote the set of all permutations of the positive integers N. The group L? consists of all permutations fSN such that AAD if and only if f(A)∈AD, and the group L* consists of all permutations fL? such that d(f(A))=d(A) for all AAD. Let be a one-to-one function such that d(f(N))=1 and, if AAD, then f(A)∈AD. It is proved that f must also preserve density, that is, d(f(A))=d(A) for all AAD. Thus, the groups L? and L* coincide.  相似文献

A new integral representation of the Hankel transform type is deduced for the function Fn(x,Z)=Zn−1Ai(xZ)Ai(x+Z) with xR, Z>0 and nN. This formula involves the product of Airy functions, their derivatives and Bessel functions. The presence of the latter allows one to perform various transformations with respect to Z and obtain new integral formulae of the type of the Mellin transform, K-transform, Laplace and Fourier transform. Some integrals containing Airy functions, their derivatives and Chebyshev polynomials of the first and second kind are computed explicitly. A new representation is given for the function 2|Ai(z)| with zC.  相似文献

Let D be a bounded open subset in Rd, d?2, and let G denote the Green function for D with respect to (-Δ)α/2, 0<α?2, α<d. If α<2, assume that D satisfies the interior corkscrew condition; if α=2, i.e., if G is the classical Green function on D, assume—more restrictively—that D is a uniform domain. Let g=G(·,y0)∧1 for some y0D. Based on the uniform boundary Harnack principle, it is shown that G has the generalized triangle property which states that when d(z,x)?d(z,y). An intermediate step is the approximation G(x,y)≈|x-y|α-dg(x)g(y)/g(A)2, where A is an arbitrary point in a certain set B(x,y).This is discussed in a general setting where D is a dense open subset of a compact metric space satisfying the interior corkscrew condition and G is a quasi-symmetric positive numerical function on D×D which has locally polynomial decay and satisfies Harnack's inequality. Under these assumptions, the uniform boundary Harnack principle, the approximation for G, and the generalized triangle property turn out to be equivalent.  相似文献

Suppose that G is an arbitrary Abelian group and A is any finite subset G. A set A is called a set with small sumset if, for some number K, we have |A + A| ≤ K|A|. The structural properties of such sets were studied in the papers of Freiman, Bilu, Ruzsa, Chang, Green, and Tao. In the present paper, we prove that, under certain constraints on K, for any set with small sumset, there exists a set Λ, Λ ? ? K log |A|, such that |A ν Λ| ? |A|/K 1/2+? , where ? > 0. In contrast to the results of the previous authors, our theorem is nontrivial even for a sufficiently large K. For example, for K we can take |A| η , where η > 0. The method of proof used by us is quite elementary.  相似文献

Let A be a matrix whose sparsity pattern is a tree with maximal degree dmax. We show that if the columns of A are ordered using minimum degree on |A|+|A|, then factoring A using a sparse LU with partial pivoting algorithm generates only O(dmaxn) fill, requires only O(dmaxn) operations, and is much more stable than LU with partial pivoting on a general matrix. We also propose an even more efficient and just-as-stable algorithm called sibling-dominant pivoting. This algorithm is a strict partial pivoting algorithm that modifies the column preordering locally to minimize fill and work. It leads to only O(n) work and fill. More conventional column pre-ordering methods that are based (usually implicitly) on the sparsity pattern of |A||A| are not as efficient as the approaches that we propose in this paper.  相似文献

We are concerned with Friedrichs's scheme for an initial value problem ut(t, x) = A(t, x)ux(t, x), u(0, x) = u0(x), where u0(x) belongs to L, not to L2. We show that Friedrichs's scheme is stable in the maximum norm ·L, provided that the system is regularly hyperbolic and that the eigenvalues di(t, x) (i = 1,2,..., N) of the N XN matrix A(t, x) satisfy the conditions 1±λdi(t, x)?0 (i = 1,2,..., N), where λ is a mesh ratio.  相似文献

We consider a random walk in random scenery {Xn=η(S0)+?+η(Sn),nN}, where a centered walk {Sn,nN} is independent of the scenery {η(x),xZd}, consisting of symmetric i.i.d. with tail distribution P(η(x)>t)∼exp(−cαtα), with 1?α<d/2. We study the probability, when averaged over both randomness, that {Xn>ny} for y>0, and n large. In this note, we show that the large deviation estimate is of order exp(−ca(ny)), with a=α/(α+1).  相似文献

In this paper we study the class of square matrices A such that AA − AA is nonsingular, where A stands for the Moore-Penrose inverse of A. Among several characterizations we prove that for a matrix A of order n, the difference AA − AA is nonsingular if and only if R(A)R(A)=Cn,1, where R(·) denotes the range space. Also we study matrices A such that R(A)=R(A).  相似文献

Let N be a nest on a complex Banach space X with NN complemented in X whenever N-=N, and let AlgN be the associated nest algebra. We say that an operator Z∈AlgN is an all-derivable point of AlgN if every linear map δ from AlgN into itself derivable at Z (i.e. δ(A)B+Aδ(B)=δ(Z) for any A,BA with AB=Z) is a derivation. In this paper, it is shown that if Z∈AlgN is an injective operator or an operator with dense range, or an idempotent operator with ran(Z)∈N, then Z is an all-derivable point of AlgN. Particularly, if N is a nest on a complex Hilbert space, then every idempotent operator with range in N, every injective operator as well as every operator with dense range in AlgN is an all-derivable point of the nest algebra AlgN.  相似文献

In this paper we define model solvmanifold pairs and their diagonal type selfmaps in the tradition of Heath and Keppelmann. We derive an explicit formula for computing the relative Nielsen number N(F;X,A) on these spaces and selfmaps F:(X,A)→(X,A). We find that model solvmanifold pairs often exhibit interesting Schirmer theory, meaning N(F;X,A)>max{N(F),N(F|A)}.  相似文献

An integer matrix AMd(Z) induces a covering σA of Td and an endomorphism αA:f?f°σA of C(Td) for which there is a natural transfer operator L. In this paper, we compute the KMS states on the Exel crossed product C(Td)?αA,LN and its Toeplitz extension. We find that C(Td)?αA,LN has a unique KMS state, which has inverse temperature . Its Toeplitz extension, on the other hand, exhibits a phase transition at , and for larger β the simplex of KMSβ states is isomorphic to the simplex of probability measures on Td.  相似文献

For parameters η, let {B(η)} denote infinitesimal operators of strongly continuous semigroups, with resolvents R(λ; B(η)) satisfying λR(λ; B(η)) = P(η) + λV(η) + o(λ). For parameters α, let {A(α)} denote possibly unbounded, linear operators for which {A(α) + B(η)} are infinitesimal operators of strongly continuous semigroups {Uα·η(t)}. For α, η converging simultaneously, we show strong convergence of the semigroups Uα·η(t) to a strongly continuous semigroup U(t), with limiting infinitesimal operator characterized by limα·ηjP(η) A(α) × (V(η) A(α))if. We give applications of the abstract perturbation theorems to limit theorems of random evolutions and associated abstract Cauchy problems, in which multiscaling occurs in the convergence.  相似文献

The following limit theorem on Hamiltonian systems (resp. corresponding Riccati matrix equations) is shown: Given(N, N)-matrices,A, B, C andn ∈ {1,…, N} with the following properties:A and kemelB(x) are constant, rank(I, A, …, A n?1) B(x)≠N,B(x)C n(R), andB(x)(A T)j-1 C(x)∈C n-j(R) forj=1, …, n. Both of the following conditions are equivalent to the absoluteness of a norm ν in Cn: (1) for all n×n diagonal matrices D=(dk), the subordinate operator norm Nν(D)=maxk|dk|; (2) for all n×n matrices A, Nν(A) ?Nν(|A|). These conditions are modified for partitioned matrices by replacing absolute values with norms of blocks. A generalization of absoluteness is thus obtained.  相似文献

Let H and K be Hilbert spaces and for each zC let A(z)∈L(H,K) be a bounded but not necessarily compact linear map with A(z) analytic on a region |z|<a. If A(0) is singular we find conditions under which A−1(z) is well defined on some region 0<|z|<b by a convergent Laurent series with a finite order pole at the origin. We show that by changing to a standard Sobolev topology the method extends to closed unbounded linear operators and also that it can be used in Banach spaces where complementation of certain closed subspaces is possible. Our method is illustrated with several key examples.2  相似文献

We consider the complex differential equations f″ + A 1(z)f′ + A 0(z)f = F and where A 0 ? 0, A 1 and F are analytic functions in the unit disc Δ = {z: |z| < 1}. We obtain results on the order and the exponent of convergence of zero-points in Δ of the differential polynomials g f = d 2 f″ + d 1 f′ + d 0 f with non-simultaneously vanishing analytic coefficients d 2, d 1, d 0. We answer a question posed by J. Tu and C. F. Yi in 2008 for the case of the second order linear differential equations in the unit disc.  相似文献

Painlevé's transcendental differential equation PVI may be expressed as the consistency condition for a pair of linear differential equations with 2×2 matrix coefficients with rational entries. By a construction due to Tracy and Widom, this linear system is associated with certain kernels which give trace class operators on Hilbert space. This paper expresses such operators in terms of Hankel operators Γ? of linear systems which are realised in terms of the Laurent coefficients of the solutions of the differential equations. Let P(t,∞):L2(0,∞)→L2(t,∞) be the orthogonal projection; then the Fredholm determinant τ(t)=det(IP(t,∞)Γ?) defines the τ function, which is here expressed in terms of the solution of a matrix Gelfand-Levitan equation. For suitable values of the parameters, solutions of the hypergeometric equation give a linear system with similar properties. For meromorphic transfer functions that have poles on an arithmetic progression, the corresponding Hankel operator has a simple form with respect to an exponential basis in L2(0,∞); so det(IΓ?P(t,∞)) can be expressed as a series of finite determinants. This applies to elliptic functions of the second kind, such as satisfy Lamé's equation with ?=1.  相似文献
