In this article, we first study the local volume estimate of the complete non-compact Yamabe soliton. Then we study the behavior of the potential function of the steady Yamabe soliton with positive Ricci curvature. We also study the scalar curvature decay of steady and expanding Yamabe solitons with Ricci pinching condition.  相似文献

In this paper we consider Hamilton's Ricci flow on a 3-manifold with a metric of positive scalar curvature. We establish several a priori estimates for the Ricci flow which we believe are important in understanding possible singularities of the Ricci flow. For Ricci flow with initial metric of positive scalar curvature, we obtain a sharp estimate on the norm of the Ricci curvature in terms of the scalar curvature (which is not trivial even if the initial metric has non-negative Ricci curvature, a fact which is essential in Hamilton's estimates [R.S. Hamilton, Three-manifolds with positive Ricci curvature, J. Differential Geom. 17 (1982) 255-306]), some L2-estimates for the gradients of the Ricci curvature, and finally the Harnack type estimates for the Ricci curvature. These results are established through careful (and rather complicated and lengthy) computations, integration by parts and the maximum principles for parabolic equations.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the scalar curvature of Yamabe solitons. In particular, we show that, with natural conditions and non-positive Ricci curvature, any complete Yamabe soliton has constant scalar curvature, namely, it is a Yamabe metric. We also show that a complete non-compact Yamabe soliton with the quadratic decay at infinity of its Ricci curvature has non-negative scalar curvature. A new proof of Kazdan?CWarner condition is also presented.  相似文献

We give a sharp upper diameter bound for a compact shrinking Ricci soliton in terms of its scalar curvature integral and the Perelman’s entropy functional. The sharp cases could occur at round spheres. The proof mainly relies on a sharp logarithmic Sobolev inequality of gradient shrinking Ricci solitons and a Vitali-type covering argument.

We show that recent work of Ni and Wilking (in preparation) [11] yields the result that a noncompact nonflat Ricci shrinker has at most quadratic scalar curvature decay. The examples of noncompact Kähler–Ricci shrinkers by Feldman, Ilmanen, and Knopf (2003) [7] exhibit that this result is sharp. We also prove a similar result for certain noncompact steady gradient Ricci solitons.  相似文献

In this paper, inspired by Fernández-López and García-Río [11], we shall give a new lower diameter bound for compact non-trivial shrinking Ricci solitons depending on the range of the potential function, as well as on the range of the scalar curvature. Moreover, by using a universal lower diameter bound for compact non-trivial shrinking Ricci solitons by Chu and Hu [7] and by Futaki, Li, and Li [13], we shall provide a new sufficient condition for four-dimensional compact non-trivial shrinking Ricci solitons to satisfy the Hitchin–Thorpe inequality. Furthermore, we shall give a new lower diameter bound for compact self–shrinkers of the mean curvature flow depending on the norm of the mean curvature. We shall also prove a new gap theorem for compact self–shrinkers by showing a necessary and sufficient condition to have constant norm of the mean curvature.  相似文献

By establishing an optimal comparison result on the heat kernel of the conformal Laplacian on open manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature, (a) we show that many manifolds with positive scalar curvature do not possess conformal metrics with scalar curvature bounded below by a positive constant; (b) we identify a class of functions with the following property: If the manifold has a scalar curvature in this class, then there exists a complete conformal metric whose scalar curvature is any given function in this class. This class is optimal in some sense; (c) we have identified all manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature, which are “uniformly” conformal to manifolds with zero scalar curvature. Even in the Euclidean case, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition under which the main existence results in [Ni1] and [KN] on prescribing nonnegative scalar curvature will hold. In this paper, we study the potential function of gradient steady Ricci solitons. We prove that the infimum of the potential function decays linearly. As a consequence, we show that a gradient steady Ricci soliton with bounded potential function must be trivial, and that no gradient steady Ricci soliton admits uniformly positive scalar curvature.  相似文献

We propose the study of certain discretizations of geometric evolution equations as an approach to the study of the existence problem of some elliptic partial differential equations of a geometric nature as well as a means to obtain interesting dynamics on certain infinite-dimensional spaces. We illustrate the fruitfulness of this approach in the context of the Ricci flow, as well as another flow, in Kähler geometry. We introduce and study dynamical systems related to the Ricci operator on the space of Kähler metrics that arise as discretizations of these flows. We pose some problems regarding their dynamics. We point out a number of applications to well-studied objects in Kähler and conformal geometry such as constant scalar curvature metrics, Kähler-Ricci solitons, Nadel-type multiplier ideal sheaves, balanced metrics, the Moser-Trudinger-Onofri inequality, energy functionals and the geometry and structure of the space of Kähler metrics. E.g., we obtain a new sharp inequality strengthening the classical Moser-Trudinger-Onofri inequality on the two-sphere.  相似文献

It is well known there is no non-constant harmonic map from a closed Riemannian manifold of positive Ricci curvature to a complete Riemannian manifold with non-positive sectional curvature. By reducing the assumption on the Ricci curvature to one on the scalar curvature, such vanishing theorem cannot hold in general. This raises the question: “What information can we obtain from the existence of non-constant harmonic map?” This paper gives answer to this problem; the results obtained are optimal.  相似文献

In the first part of the paper we derive integral curvature estimates for complete gradient shrinking Ricci solitons. Our results and the recent work in M. Fernandez-Lopez and E. Garcia-Rio, Rigidity of shrinking Ricci solitons in Math. Z. (2011) classify complete gradient shrinking Ricci solitons with harmonic Weyl tensor. In the second part of the paper we address the issue of existence of harmonic functions on gradient shrinking Kähler and gradient steady Ricci solitons. Consequences to the structure of shrinking and steady solitons at infinity are also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce the notion of generalized quasi-Einstein manifold that generalizes the concepts of Ricci soliton, Ricci almost soliton and quasi-Einstein manifolds. We prove that a complete generalized quasi-Einstein manifold with harmonic Weyl tensor and with zero radial Weyl curvature is locally a warped product with (n ? 1)-dimensional Einstein fibers. In particular, this implies a local characterization for locally conformally flat gradient Ricci almost solitons, similar to that proved for gradient Ricci solitons.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the local gradient estimate for harmonic functions on complete, noncompact Finsler measure spaces under the condition that the weighted Ricci curvature has a lower bound. We study minimal graphic functions on complete Riemannian manifolds ∑ with nonnegative Ricci curvature, euclidean volume growth, and quadratic curvature decay. We derive global bounds for the gradients for minimal graphic functions of linear growth only on one side. Then we can obtain a Liouville‐type theorem with such growth via splitting for tangent cones of ∑ at infinity. When, in contrast, we do not impose any growth restrictions for minimal graphic functions, we also obtain a Liouville‐type theorem under a certain nonradial Ricci curvature decay condition on ∑. In particular, the borderline for the Ricci curvature decay is sharp by our example in the last section. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper, we study stability properties of hypersurfaces with constant weighted mean curvature (CWMC) in gradient Ricci solitons. The CWMC hypersurfaces generalize the f-minimal hypersurfaces and appear naturally in the isoperimetric problems in smooth metric measure spaces. We obtain a result about the relationship between the properness and extrinsic volume growth under the assumption of a limitation for the weighted mean curvature of the immersion. Moreover, we estimate Morse index for CWMC hypersurfaces in terms of the dimension of the space of parallel vector fields restricted to hypersurface.  相似文献

In this paper we show how techniques coming from stochastic analysis, such as stochastic completeness (in the form of the weak maximum principle at infinity), parabolicity and L p -Liouville type results for the weighted Laplacian associated to the potential may be used to obtain triviality, rigidity results, and scalar curvature estimates for gradient Ricci solitons under L p conditions on the relevant quantities.  相似文献

In the first part of this paper, we prove the sharp global Li‐Yau type gradient estimates for positive solutions to doubly nonlinear diffusion equation(DNDE) on complete Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. As an application, one can obtain a parabolic Harnack inequality. In the second part, we obtain a Perelman‐type entropy monotonicity formula for DNDE on compact Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. These results generalize some works of Ni (JGA 2004), Lu–Ni–Vázquez–Villani (JMPA 2009) and Kotschwar–Ni (Annales Scientifiques de l'École Normale Supérieure 2009).
