A new approach to electroweak (EW) composite scalars is developed starting from the fundamental gauge interaction on high scale. The latter is assumed to have the group structure SU(2) L × SU(2) R × SU(4), where SU(4) is the Pati-Salam color-lepton group. The topological EW vacuum filled by instantons is explicitly constructed and the resulting equations for fermion masses exhibit spontaneous SU(2) flavor symmetry violation with possibility of very large mass ratios.  相似文献

We analyze the Yukawa couplings of the first SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1)Y orbifold models recently obtained. In these models the rank is naturally lowered due to the presence of a Fayet-Iliopoulos term associated with an “anomalous” U(1) in the four-dimensional theory. It is shown that the phenomenological viability of the models selects a favoured class of vacua. In particular, for the specific examples considered, some twisted fields with one moded oscillator acting, must acquire non-vanishing VEVs. However other possibilities may exist. We also find that all the baryon and lepton violating operators can be, in general, avoided in a completely natural way.  相似文献

The skyrmions in SU(N) quantum Hall (QH) system are discussed. By analyzing the gauge field structure and the topological properties of this QH system it is pointed out that in the SU(N) QH system there can exist (N-1) types of skyrmion structures, instead of only one type of skyrmions. In this paper, by means of the Abelian projections according to the (N - 1) Cartan subalgebra local bases, we obtain the (N - 1) U(1) electromagnetic field tensors in the SU(N) gauge field of the QH system, and then derive (N - 1) types of skyrmion structures from these U(1) sub-field tensors. Furthermore, in light of the C-mapping topological current method, the topological charges and the motion of these skyrmions are also discussed.  相似文献

An SU(2)×SU(2) chiral quark model describing the properties and interaction of pions and scalar and vector mesons is considered. The confinement of quarks is introduced in the model by means of an infrared cut-off in the one-loop quark diagrams. This cutoff gives rise to the elimination of the unphysical thresholds of the quark-antiquark pair production. The π-a 1 transitions are taken into account. The model conserves all low-energy theorems. The masses of mesons and the widths of the decays ρ → 2π and σ → 2π are calculated.  相似文献

We propose a rational quantum deformed nonlocal currentsin the homogeneous space SU(2)k/U(1),and in terms of it and a free boson field a representation for the Drinfeld currents of Yangian double at a general level k=c is obtained.In the classical limit h→0,the quantum nonlocal currents become SU(2)k parafermion,and the realization of Yangian double becomes the parafermion realization of SU(2)k current algebra.  相似文献

In this letter a discussion is offered on how symmetry breaking of a theory with twisted bundle of two chiral SU(2) bundles leads to a set of gauge potentials from each group on the physical vacuum that are vector and chiral. The result is that symmetry breaking of this theory leads to massive A 3 transverse modes of the 3-photon along with electromagnetic photons plus the massive neutral and charged weakly interacting bosons. The electromagnetic sector is demonstrated to be a massless vector field and the remainder is a broken chiral field theory.  相似文献

Alternative compactification of the heterotic superstring can give rise to a residual four-dimensional SO(10) gauge symmetry for the observable sector. We consider a model with gauge group SU(3) × SU(2) × (U(1))2, resulting from the Hosotani breaking of SO(10), study its further gauge symmetry breaking and calculate the particle spectrum. We find that all breakings can occur close to the weak scale; the top mass lies preferentially between 40 and 60 GeV, the second Z boson mass is O(200–400) GeV. The sparticle spectrum is quite heavy, apart possibly from a light chargino, whose mass can be as light as O(30) GeV.  相似文献

We report the realization of a novel degenerate Fermi mixture with an SU(2)×SU(6) symmetry in a cold atomic gas. We successfully cool the mixture of the two fermionic isotopes of ytterbium 171Yb with the nuclear spin I=1/2 and 173Yb with I=5/2 below the Fermi temperature T_{F} as 0.46TF for 171Yb and 0.54TF for 173Yb. The same scattering lengths for different spin components make this mixture featured with the novel SU(2)×SU(6) symmetry. The nuclear spin components are separately imaged by exploiting an optical Stern-Gerlach effect. In addition, the mixture is loaded into a 3D optical lattice to implement the SU(2)×SU(6) Hubbard model. This mixture will open the door to the study of novel quantum phases such as a spinor Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer-like fermionic superfluid.  相似文献

This paper studies quantum diffusion in semi-infinite one-dimensional periodic lattice and quasiperiodic Fibonacci lattice. It finds that the quantum diffusion in the semi-infinite periodic lattice shows the same properties as that for the infinite periodic lattice. Different behaviour is found for the semi-infinite Fibonacci lattice. In this case, there are still C(t) - t^-δ and d(t) - t^β. However, it finds that 0 〈δ 〈 1 for smaller time, and δ = 0 for larger time due to the influence of surface localized states. Moreover, β for the semi-infinite Fibonacci lattice is much smaller than that for the infinite Fibonacci lattice. Effects of disorder on the quantum diffusion are also discussed.  相似文献

An alternative structure of electroweak symmetry breaking based on an SU(4)/SU (2) symmetry breaking pattern is discussed. An effective chiral lagrangian describing the pseudo-Goldstone bosons and gauge bosons is constructed and their interactions are analyzed. It is shown that the model contains doubly charged pseudo-Goldstone bosons which couple to two similarly charged W's. The question of vacuum alignment is considered, and it is shown that if an additional discrete symmetry is imposed, a custodial SU (2) preserving vacuum is a global minimum of the potential (for a range of coefficients in the effective chiral lagrangian).  相似文献

The β function behavior for SU(2)×SU(2) chiral model on 2-dimensional random triangle lattice has been studied with Monte Carlo renormalization group method.Its behavior is similar to that of the 4-dimensional SU(2) gauge theory.However,it is smoother from weak to strong coupling regions.There is no nonperturbative peak structure.The asymptotic scaling starts beyond β=1.6.  相似文献

An exotic meson, the π1(1400) with J PC = 1- +, has been seen to decay into a p-wave ηπ system. If this decay conserves flavor SU(3), then it can be shown that this exotic meson must be a four-quark state ( qˉq + qˉq) belonging to a flavor ˉ10 representation of SU(3). In contrast, the π1(1600) with a substantial decay mode into π is likely to be a member of a flavor octet. Recent data obtained by LEP1 are discussed and their potential implication for the existence of a Z particle. This letter advocates that this fits within the basic tenet of an SU(2)×SU(2) extended theory of the standard model of electroweak interactions. This extended electroweak model is motivated by nonabelian electrodynamics that provides an effective calculus for nonlinear optics.  相似文献
