THE PROBLEM OF LIMIT CYCLES FOR A LIENARD TYPE CUBIC SYSTEM

The purpose of this paper is to study a general Lienard type cubic system with one antisaddle and two saddles. We give some results of the existence and uniqueness of limit cycles as well as the evolution of limit cycles around the antisaddle for system (2) in the following when parameter a1 changes.     

THE LIMIT CYCLES AND HOPF BIFURCATION OF A CLASS OF SIMPLIFIED HOLLING TYPE-IV PREDATOR-PREY SYSTEM WITH LINEAR STATE FEEDBACK

In this paper, a class of simplified Type-IV predator-prey system with linear state feedback is investigated. We prove the boundedness of the positive solutions to this system, and analyze the quality of the equilibria and the existence of limit cycles of the system surrounding the positive equilibra. By Hopf bifurcation theory, the result of having two limit cycles to the system is obtained.     

The Same Distribution of Limit Cycles in a Hamiltonian System with Nine Seven-order Perturbed Terms

Using qualitative analysis and numerical simulation, we investigate the number and distribution of limit cycles for a cubic Hamiltonian system with nine different seven-order perturbed terms. It is showed that these perturbed systems have the same distribution of limit cycles. Furthermore, these systems have 13, 11 and 9 limit cycles for some parameters, respectively. The accurate positions of the 13, 11 and 9 limit cycles are obtained by numerical exploration, respectively. Our results imply that these perturbed systems are equivalent in the sense of distribution of limit cycles. This is useful for studying limit cycles of perturbed systems.     

Number and Location of Limit Cycles in a Class of Perturbed Polynomial Systems

In this paper,we investigate the number,location and stability of limit cycles in a class of perturbedpolynomial systems with (2n 1) or (2n 2)-degree by constructing detection function and using qualitativeanalysis.We show that there are at most n limit cycles in the perturbed polynomial system,which is similar tothe result of Perko in [8] by using Melnikov method.For n=2,we establish the general conditions dependingon polynomial's coefficients for the bifurcation,location and stability of limit cycles.The bifurcation parametervalue of limit cycles in [5] is also improved by us.When n=3 the sufficient and necessary conditions for theappearance of 3 limit cycles are given.Two numerical examples for the location and stability of limit cycles areused to demonstrate our theoretical results.     

Bifurcations of limit cycles in a perturbed quintic Hamiltonian system with six double homoclinic loops

This paper concerns with the number and distributions of limit cycles of a quintic subject to a seven-degree perturbation. With the aid of numeric integral computation provided by Mathematica 4.1, at least 45 limit cycles are found in the above system by applying the method of double homoclinic loops bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation and qualitative analysis. The four configurations of 45 limit cycles of the system are also shown. The results obtained are useful to the study of the weakened 16th Hilbert Problem.     

QUADRATIC SYSTEMS WITH A 3RD-ORDER (OR 2ND-ORDER) WEAK FOCUS

BIFURCATIONS OF LIMIT CYCLES FORMING COMPOUND EYES IN THE CUBIC SYSTEM

Let H(n)be the maximal number of limit cycle of planar real polynomial differentialsystem with the degree n and C_m~k denote the nest of k limit cycles enclosing m singular points.By computing detection functions,tne authors study bifurcation and phase diagrams in theclass of a planar cubic disturbed Hamiltonian system.In particular,the following conclusionis reached:The planar cubic system(E_ε)has 11 limit cycles,which form the pattern ofcompound eyes of C_9~1(?)2[C'~ε(?)(2C_1~2)and have the symmetrical structure;so the Hilbertnumber H(3)≥11.     

Quadratic systems with a weak focus and a strong focus

It is proved that the quadratic system with a weak focus and a strong focus has a unique limit cycle around one of the two foci, if there exists simultaneously limit cycles around each of the two foci for the system.     

LIMIT CYCLES AND BIFURCATION CURVES FOR THE QUADRATIC DIFFERENTIAL SYSTEM （Ⅲ）m=0 HAVING THREE ANTI-SADDLES （Ⅱ）

As a continuation of [1], the author studies the limit cycle bifurcation around the focus S1 other than O(0, 0) for the system (1) as δ varies. A conjecture on the non-existence of limit cycles around S1, and another one on the non-coexistence of limit cycles wound both O and S1 are given, together with some numerical examples.     

LIMIT CYCLES OF A QUADRATIC HAMILTONIAN SYSTEM BY CUBIC PERTURBATIONS

In this paper,we are concerned with a cubic near-Hamiltonian system,whose unperturbed system is quadratic and has a symmetric homoclinic loop.By using the method developed in [12],we find that the system can have 4 limit cycles with 3 of them being near the homoclinic loop.Further,we give a condition under which there exist 4 limit cycles.     

Estimation of the number of components of finite mixtures of multivariate distributions

An estimator of the number of components of a finite mixture ofk-dimensional distributions is given on the basis of a one-dimensional independent random sample obtained by a transformation of ak-dimensional independent random sample. A consistency of the estimator is shown. Some simulation results are given in a case of finite mixtures of two-dimensional normal distributions.     

Galois Structure of K-Groups of Rings of Integers

N/Kbe a Galois extension of number fields with finite Galois group G.We describe a new approach for constructing invariants of the G-module structure of the K groups of the ring of integers of N in the Grothendieck group of finitely generated projective Z[G]modules. In various cases we can relate these classes, and their function field counterparts, to the root number class of Fröhlich and Cassou-Noguès.     

Eigenvector p-Bases of Rings of Constants of Derivations

Let A be a UFD of characteristic p > 0, let 𝒵 be a set of some eigenvectors of a derivation of A. We prove, under some additional assumptions, a necessary and sufficient condition for 𝒵 to be a p-basis of the minimal ring of constants containing 𝒵. The main preparatory result is the unique decomposition theorem with respect to a factor from a given subalgebra containing A^p.     

有资格限制的指派问题的求解方法

在实际的指派工作中，常会遇到某个人有没有资格去承担某项工作的问题，因此，本建立了有资格限制的指派问题的数学模型。在此数学模型中，将效益矩阵转化为判定矩阵，由此给出了判定此种指派问题是否有解的方法；在有解的情况下，进一步将效益矩阵转化为求解矩阵，从而将有资格限制的指派问题化为传统的指派问题来求解。最后给出了一个数值例子来说明这样的处理方法是有效的。     

On Sums of Coefficients of Products of Polynomials

We study the nilpotency of the sums of all coefficients of some sorts of products of polynomials over reversible, IFP, and NI rings, and introduce an SCN ring as a generalization. We characterize SCN rings in relation with related ring properties, and also provide several useful properties and ring extensions of SCN rings.     

Convergence of sequences of sets of associated primes

It is a well-known result of M. Brodmann that if is an ideal of a commutative Noetherian ring , then the set of associated primes of the -th power of is constant for all large . This paper is concerned with the following question: given a prime ideal of which is known to be in for all large integers , can one identify a term of the sequence beyond which will subsequently be an ever-present? This paper presents some results about convergence of sequences of sets of associated primes of graded components of finitely generated graded modules over a standard positively graded commutative Noetherian ring; those results are then applied to the above question.

     

Rates of Convergence of Means of Euclidean Functionals

Let L be the Euclidean functional with p-th power-weighted edges. Examples include the sum of the p-th power-weighted lengths of the edges in minimal spanning trees, traveling salesman tours, and minimal matchings. Motivated by the works of Steele, Redmond and Yukich (Ann. Appl. Probab. 4, 1057–1073, 1994, Stoch. Process. Appl. 61, 289–304, 1996) have shown that for n i.i.d. sample points {X ₁,…,X _n } from [0,1] ^d , L({X ₁,…,X _n })/n ^(d−p)/d converges a.s. to a finite constant. Asymptotics of families of solutions of nonlinear difference equations

One method to determine the asymptotics of particular solutions of a difference equation is by solving an associated asymptotic functional equation. Here we study the behaviour of the solutions in an asymptotic neighbourhood of such individual solutions. We identify several types of attraction and repulsion, which range from almost orthogonality to almost parallelness. Necessary and sufficient conditions for these types of behaviour are given.
