An Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a highly integrated enterprise information system that manages all aspects of the business operations of an enterprise including production planning, purchasing, engineering design, manufacturing, marketing, distribution, accounting and customer service. In the last two decades, Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) and ERP have been successfully introduced into Chinese industry. Supported by sponsored research programmes, the research outcomes on ERP systems by Chinese academic researchers have been directly supporting the Chinese ERP software industry. Engineering informatics is an emerging engineering discipline integrating information technology or informatics with a variety of engineering disciplines. It is an interdisciplinary scientific subject focusing on applying advanced information and communications technology (ICT) to a variety of engineering disciplines. Rapid advances in industrial information integration methods have spurred the growth of new techniques that can be used for probing industrial information integration including engineering informatics. These techniques include business process management (BPM), enterprise architecture (EA), enterprise application integration (EAI), service-oriented architecture (SOA), and others. Practical applications may require a combination of these techniques that have originated from different disciplines. These techniques have the potential to contribute to engineering informatics. For integrating complex engineering systems, both formal methods and systems methods are crucial. Many semiconductor-related manufacturing enterprises in Taiwan have embarked upon the implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) to integrate and optimize various business processes across the entire firm. The present study proposes a performance-evaluation model of ERP implementation utilizing fuzzy measures. The paper then presents an empirical study of semiconductor-related manufacturers in Taiwan in which the proposed model is used to: (i) identify the critical implementation items requiring improvement; and (ii) rank the strategies for improving them according to weight value. A systematic approach is thus proposed to: (i) examine the performance of an ERP implementation process; (ii) determine the items to be improved; and (iii) select appropriate and feasible strategies to improve these items. The proposed model can ensure successful implementation of ERP and thus enhance its potential benefits for semiconductor manufacturers.  相似文献

An enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is a software solution that puts together a package that allows information flow through various levels and departments of an organisation. Manufacturing enterprises have understood the importance of information systems within their organisations and have begun using them extensively. To achieve the right fit of the ERP system to the business organisation, customisation may be needed. However, customisation is seen as an issue in the application of an ERP. There are many attributes that can be considered for the selection of an ERP system. In this paper, we have applied fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) to a framework to evaluate an ERP for implementation purposes. The framework provides different methods for customisation of ERP. With the use of FAHP, obtained results provide a better match in terms of understanding the problem and giving options that are a closer fit to the requirements rather than providing the ‘correct’ decision to be taken. This paper is aimed at helping managers to understand and select among the various customisation options available. The application of FAHP to the framework is demonstrated with opinions gathered from managers in various companies. These opinions are translated into numerical values and are compared to the problem as a whole.  相似文献

Although enterprise resource planning (ERP) has been widely adopted since its first appearance in the early 1990s, there is a lack of research regarding ERP investment justification and performance evaluation. In this paper, based on an activity-based costing (ABC) analysis, we propose a framework to quantify the cost savings that the implementation of an ERP system should achieve in order to make the investment justifiable. Exploiting the ability of ABC to trace costs to activities and products, ERP resource costs and activities are identified and the cost structure of products is analysed. It is also shown that the ABC approach can enhance the visibility of business processes with various activities and cost drivers and provide information about actions to be taken to raise profits by cost savings or increased revenues. Finally, a numerical example is used to demonstrate how an ERP system is utilized on activities and how it affects the cost of products. An extensive analysis follows to address how the results can be used to direct process improvement toward corporate goals.  相似文献
