Two predominant perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA), in surface water (SW, 0-20 cm), subsurface water (SSW, > 30 cm depth), and sea surface microlayer (SML, 50 microm thickness) were measured from Dalian Coastal waters in China. The SML samples were collected using glass-plate dipping method. Analysis of the PFCs was conducted through solid-phase extraction, followed by LC/MS-SIM. The PFC's concentrations in SW samples were consistent with previously reported data in this region. Significantly higher concentrations of PFCs were found in SML samples than corresponding SSW samples. The enrichment factors (EF = C(SML)/C(SSW)) for PFOS were as high as 24-109 atthree near-shore sites. The concentration in SW was also generally higher than corresponding SSW samples, giving C(SW)/C(SSW) mean ratios of 1.5 and 1.4 for PFOS and PFOA, respectively. This apparent enrichment of PFCs in surface water, especially in the microlayer, has implications for designing measurement techniques, understanding their distributions, and sea spray-mediated transport in the environment.  相似文献

Perfluorinated compounds in the Asian atmosphere   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
There is interest in the production, use, and environmental occurrence of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) across Asia and the Asian contributions to the burden of these compounds reaching the Arctic and other remote regions via long-range transport. A spatial survey of perfluorinated compounds was therefore undertaken across China, India, and Japan in 2009 using passive air samplers. Target analytes were fluorotelomer olefins (FTOs), acrylates (FTAs), alcohols (FTOHs), sulfonamides, and sulfonamidoethanols. Wide variations in concentrations and mixtures of compounds were apparent from the study. Generally the FTOHs were the most abundant, followed by 8:2 FTO in China and Japan and by the sulfonamides in India. There was a general decline in PFC concentration from urban, rural, to remote locations. Background stations reflected regional differences in air mass composition. A site in the west Pacific Ocean exhibited a Japanese profile in which 8:2 FTO and 8:2 FTOH were predominant. In contrast, a southern Indian profile with high 4:2 FTOH concentrations was observed at a background site in southern China.  相似文献

A fluorochemical industrial park was built in 2004 in Fuxin, China, for the production of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS). Yet little is known about the distribution of fluorochemicals in the environment and in people living in and around the park. In this study, environmental samples were collected from 22 sites in Fuxin to investigate the extent of perfluorinated compound (PFC) contamination in the environment around the park, and in drinking water from the public water supply system and groundwater in shallow aquifers from private wells near the park. Serum samples were also collected from nonoccupationally exposed residents living in Fuxin to determine the PFC load of local residents. As the dominant contaminant of eight target PFCs, the maximum concentrations of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in sediment and river water of the River Xi along the industrial park were 48 ng/g dry weight and 668 ng/L, respectively; the highest PFOA concentration in groundwater beneath the park was 524 ng/L; and the PFOA levels in drinking water from the public water supply system ranged between 1.3 and 2.7 ng/L. In human serum, PFOA had the geometric mean at 4.3 ng/mL, ranging from 0.02 to 93 ng/mL. This study serves to document what should be the beginning of a long-term surveillance effort to minimize potential exposure of residents living in Fuxin.  相似文献

Perfluorinated compounds in house dust from Ohio and North Carolina, USA   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs), including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), have come under increasing scrutiny due to their persistence, global distribution, and toxicity. Given that their human exposure routes remain poorly characterized, the potential role of house dust needs to be more completely evaluated. In this study, new methods for the analysis of 10 PFAAs and three fluorinated telomer alcohols (FTOHs) were developed for dust samples collected from homes (n = 102) and day care centers (n = 10) in Ohio and North Carolina in 2000-2001. FTOHs were measured by GC/ MS and PFAAs were analyzed by LC-MS/MS. PFOS and PFOA were the most prominent compounds detected, occurring in over 95% of the samples at median concentrations of 201 and 142 ng/g of dust, respectively. Maximal concentrations of PFOS were 12 100 ng/g (95th percentile, 2240 ng/g), PFOA 1960 ng/g (95th percentile, 1200 ng/g), and perfluorohexanesulfonate (PFHS) 35 700 ng/g (95th percentile, 2300 ng/g). The 8:2 FTOH, which is volatile and can degrade to PFOA, had a maximum concentration of 1660 ng/g dust (95th percentile, 669 ng/g). These results indicate that perfluorinated compounds are present in house dust at levels that may represent an important pathway for human exposure.  相似文献

Six trace metals (Cd, Pb, Cr, Cu, Zn, and Mn) and 2 perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), were analyzed in 43 representative tea products (including 18 green, 12 Oolong, and 13 black teas) from 7 main tea production provinces in China, using the atomic absorption spectrophotometer for trace metals analysis and HPLC‐MS/MS for PFOS and PFOA analysis. The average contents of the 3 essential metals Mn, Cu, and Zn ions in the tea samples were 629.74, 17.75, and 37.38 mg/kg, whereas 3 toxic metals Cd, Cr, and Pb were 0.65, 1.02, and 1.92 mg/kg, respectively. The contents of heavy metals in the 3 types of tea were in the order of black tea > Oolong tea > green tea. Both PFOS and PFOA contents were low and PFOA content was higher than PFOS in the tea samples. The highest concentration of PFOA was 0.25 ng/g dry weight found in a Hunan green tea. The Principal component analysis was performed with the trace metals and PFCs to analyze the relationships of these indices. The results showed that black teas had higher trace metals and PFCs than green and Oolong teas, and the teas from Hunan and Zhejiang provinces had higher Pb and Cr than others.  相似文献

Perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) are resistant to breakdown and are turning up in unexpected places around the world, becoming emerging food contaminants. Although these chemicals have been used in countless products since the 1950s, they have been subject to little control until now. There is still an insufficient knowledge of their sources, occurrence, and hazards for food safety decision making. This article provides a comprehensive review of the food contamination levels and dietary intake risks posed by PFCs, as well as the specific methods developed for their determination. It is based on the evaluation of the published literature between 2004 and the beginning of 2010, with special emphasis on those reports of the last two years and in the examination of the growing body of studies on the exposure assessment and food occurrence of PFCs. The current state-of-the art and future perspectives in extraction, clean-up, detection, identification, confirmation, and quantification highlighting the advantages and limitations of each technique have been summarized. How much is known about the sources and pathways of food web and human exposure, which is needed to control and manage the release of these emerging toxic contaminants, has also been explained.  相似文献

Laver samples (Porphyra haitanensis) were collected from the coastal waters of Fujian province, south-eastern China and then the speciation characteristics of arsenic in the samples were studied in detail. These laver samples contained five arsenical species, namely arsenobetaine, monomethylarsonic acid, As(V) and two kinds of arsenic-containing ribosides (arsenosugars), with a relatively high concentration of total arsenic in the range of 28.85-63.03 μg As/g dried weight. DMAsSugarMethoxy was found to be the predominant species of arsenic in lavers, accounting for 90-98% of total arsenic. As3+ was not detected and the level of inorganic arsenic was much lower than the national tolerable average residue level (TARL), suggesting that the lavers are safe for consumption.  相似文献

Concentrations of organochlorine (OC) pesticides and coplanar (dioxin-like) polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in bulk deposition were measured at the Mai Po Marshes Nature Reserve (MPMNR) and A Chau, which are both important habitats for waterbirds in Hong Kong. OC pesticides exempted from the Stockholm Convention were present in greater concentrations than those that have been restricted for use in the region. Among the OC pesticides, HCB, sigmaDDTs, and sigmaHCHs were detected. Concentrations of HCB were greater at MPMNR than at A Chau, and this finding suggests short-range transport of this compound, which is different from the other OC pesticides. Several environmental factors including seasonal variations in temperature, particulate matter, and rainfall may influence the flux of OC pesticides. Since sources of HCB often coexist with sources of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (dioxins and furans), the presence of HCB may be a useful surrogate for monitoring airborne dioxins and for understanding their deposition potential. The contribution of atmospheric deposition to the OC pesticide input to the two study sites was small. Concentrations of most OC pesticides in surface waters were greater than would be predicted based on the inputs from atmospheric deposition and sedimentation. The mass balance calculation suggests a net flux of OC pesticides from bottom sediments to the overlying water column.  相似文献

Dechloranes, including Dechlorane Plus (DP), Mirex (Dechlorane), Dechlorane 602 (Dec 602), Dechlorane 603 (Dec 603), and Dechlorane 604 (Dec 604), were determined using GC-MSD for water, sediment and oyster samples collected at 15 sampling sites near the Bohai and Huanghai Sea shore area of northern China in 2008. DP and Mirex were detected in most water, sediment, and oyster samples, which indicated widespread distribution of these two compounds. The mean concentrations in water, sediment and oyster samples, respectively, were 1.8 ng/L, 2.9 ng/g dry weight (dw) and 4.1 ng/g wet weight (ww) for total DP, and 0.29 ng/L, 0.90 ng/g dw, and 2.0 ng/g ww for Mirex. Dec 602 and Dec 603 were not detected in water but in small portions of the sediment and oyster samples, showing a low level of contamination by these two chemicals in the region. Strong and significant correlations were found between total DP and Mirex concentrations in water, sediment and oyster samples, probably suggesting similar local sources of these two chemicals. Dec 604 was not found in any samples. The biota-sediment accumulation factor (BSAF) of DP, Mirex, and Dec 602 declined along with the increase of their logarithm of octanol-water partition coefficients (log Kow), possibly indicating that compounds with lower log Kow (like Mirex and Dec 602) accumulated more readily in biota. The mean fractional abundance of syn-DP (fsyn) was 0.34 in water samples, a value lower than that in Chinese commercial mixture (0.41), while the mean fsyn for surface sediment (0.44) and oyster (0.45) samples were higher than technical values. Enrichment of syn-DP in oyster was in agreement with previously reported findings in Great Lakes fish. Enrichment of syn-DP in marine surface sediments, however, is contrary to data reported for fresh water sediments. To our knowledge this is the first report of Dec 602, Dec 603, and Dec 604 in a marine environment and also the first report of Dechloranes in marine biota.  相似文献
