The theory of nondegenerate four-wave mixing is described for the case wherein the counter-propagating pump waves are in two-photon resonance with the nonlinear medium. In contrast to the one-photon case, the reflection bandpass is found to be mainly determined by the phase-matching requirement. The variation of the phase-conjugate reflectivity with the pump intensity and pump detuning is considered. The effect of the intensity-dependent Stark shift on the phase-conjugation efficiency is discussed in some detail.  相似文献

In this paper, frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser's phase conjugation has been investigated experimentally using resonant degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM). The iodine solution was used as resonant medium. In this way, the energy of the DFWM phase conjugation beam arrived at 43μJ/pulse while the total pump beam's energy reached 8mJ/pulse. The relation between the pulse energy of the DFWM phase conjugation beam and that of the pump beam was investigated. We also measured the optical field distributions of pump beam and DFWM phase conjugation beam, from which it can be noticed that the DFWM phase conjugation can improve the laser beam quality. At the same time, we observed the influence of the pump beam's disturbance on the DFWM signal.  相似文献

Phase conjugation is performed in a fluorescein film by a cw Ar ion laser of the wavelength 0.488 μm in a degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) configuration. It becomes apparent that the phase conjugate wave is generated simultaneously by not only DFWM but also a holographic process and that the DFWM and holographic components of the phase conjugate wave have different time constants.  相似文献

Four-wave mixing (FWM) in plasmas and its applications to phase conjugation (PC) and plasma diagnostics have been extensively studied. Plasmas have received considerable attention, since they become more efficient four-wave mixing and phase conjugation mediums at longer wavelengths (far-infrared ~10 μm to radiowave ~10 m) for which there are few other nonlinear mediums. The formulation of phase conjugation via nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a Doppler-broadened resonant medium is generalized to include nondegenerate pump frequencies. This process is shown capable of yielding a tunable optical band-pass filter whose central frequency can be tuned over the entire Doppler profile with only a small degradation of the filter efficiency while still maintaining a bandwidth limited by the homogeneous linewidth.  相似文献

. The dependence of the reflectivity on the vapour density, the buffer gas pressure and the pump beams intensity was investigated. The influence of the strong linear absorption was taken into account in a theoretical model that led to a satisfactory interpretation of the experimental results. A maximum reflectivity of 46% was measured under optimized conditions. The effect was also studied through the high-lying bound states . The maximum measured reflectivity was as high as for the first excited state. A new technique to determine the natural and collision width of Doppler-broadened two-photon transitions is shown. The method consists of using the pump with the spectral width considerably exceeding the Doppler one of the transition. We experimentally study the phase regulated switch between elcctromagnctically induced trans- parency and electromagmetically induced absorption in probe transmission signal and the conver- sion between enhancement and suppression in four-wave mixing and fluorescence signals for the first time. By changing the relative phase, electromagnetically induced transparency can be eonverted into electromagnetically induced absorption. In this process, the conversion from suppression to enhancement is also obtained in four-wave mixing and fluorescence signals. This research can be applied in non-linear optical device like optical switch and optical wavelength convertor.  相似文献

We investigate the effect of beam coherence on four-wave mixing via reflection gratings in photorefractive media. For the case of phase conjugation, the results of our theoretical analysis indicate that partial coherence always leads to a drop of signal gain and phase conjugate reflectivity in non-depleted cases. In general, the mutual coherence of the signal beam and the pump beam can be enhanced due to the process of wave mixing. The mutual coherence of the phase conjugate beam and one of the pump beams depends on the beam intensity ratio as well as the optical path difference. Summary The influence of pump beam geometry in a NH3 superradiant Raman FIR laser with RFWM generation of MIR emission has been analysed. We have observed that, in general, MIR radiation is emitted in a stimulated configuration, so pump and MIR beam overlap is basically important to exhibit an efficient RFWM. In particular, strong focusing, also in the presence of self-focusing, shows a lowering of the threshold of Raman FIR emission, as expected, plus a reduction of RFWM MIR emission. The features of degenerate multi-wave mixing in resonant media (dye solutions) have been studied theoretically and experimentally. It has been demonstrated that thermal nonlinearity due to the induced absorption from the excited level contributes significantly to the efficiency of four-wave mixing, but results in lower efficiency of higher-order interactions. The measurement results obtained for the energy efficiency of four-, six- and eight-wave mixing enable calculations of the third-, fifth- and seventh-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities, respectively. Experimentally, the method proposed for measurements of the higher-order nonlinearities has been realized with the use of the multi-wave mixing at second harmonic λ = 532 nm of monopulse YAG:Nd3+ laser radiation in a Rhodamine 6G dye solution. The ratios ∣χ(5)∣/∣χ(3)∣ and ∣χ(7)∣/∣χ(5)∣ are determined to be of the order of 10−5 cm3/erg.  相似文献

We investigated nonlinear optical properties of ZnO-Nb2O5-TeO2 glass excited by a femtosecond laser with time-resolved four-wave mixing (FWM) technique. The unusual FWM signals were observed in samples with ZnO dopant. The mechanism for the optical nonlinearities was discussed.  相似文献

Expressions for estimation of the thermal linear expansion coefficients and of the thermal conductivities of amorphous dielectrics above the Debye temperature are obtained. The contribution of amplitude and phase modulation to the energetic efficiency of wavefront conjugation (WFC) under degenerate four-wave mixing is studied in resonant media simulated by a two- or a three-level scheme. It is shown that a WFC-mirror of reflectivityR higher than unity may be achieved only in the presence of the medium phase modulation. 功率为1mW左右的He-Ne激光束在Mn:KNSBN晶体中实现四波混频相位共轭。入射光相对于晶体主光轴的取向及入射光偏振组态对相位共轭反射率都有很大的影响。当物光近于布儒斯特角入射时,反射率可达60%。建立时间约为60sec的光折变光栅具有18hr左右的寿命。晶体中观察到诱导四波混频相位共轭。  相似文献
