CFETR which stands for “China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor” is a new tokamak device. Its magnet system includes the Toroidal Field (TF) winding, Center solenoid winding (CS) and Poloidal Field (PF) winding. The main goal of the project is to build a fusion engineering Tokamak reactor with its fusion power is 50–200 MW and should be self-sufficiency by blanket. In order to ensure the maintenance ports design and maintenance method, this article discussed the concept design of the magnet system based on different maintenance port cases. The paper detailed studied the magnet system of CFETR including the electromagnetic analysis and parameters for TF (CS)PF. Besides, the volt-seconds of ohmic field are presented as detailed as possible in this paper. In addition, the calculations and optimizations of equilibrium field which should guarantee the plasma discharge of single null shape is carried out. The design work reported here illustrates that the present maintenance ports will not have a great impact on the design of the magnet system. The concept design of the magnet system can meet the requirement of the physical target.  相似文献

Recent developments have made it possible to consider high-temperature superconductor (HTS) for the design of tokamak toroidal field (TF) magnet systems, potentially influencing the overall design and maintenance scheme of magnetic fusion energy devices. Initial assessments of the engineering challenges and cryogenic-dependent cost and parameters of a demountable, HTS TF magnet system have been carried out using the Vulcan tokamak conceptual design (R = 1.2 m, a = 0.3 m, B0 = 7 T) as a baseline. Jointed at the midplane to allow vertical removal of the primary vacuum vessel and routine maintenance of core components, structural D-shaped steel support cases provide cryogenic cooling for internally routed YBCO superconducting cables. The cables are constructed by layering ~50 μm thick commercially available YBCO tape, and the interlocking steel support cases self align during assembly to form internal resistive joints between YBCO cables. It is found that designing the TF magnet system for operation between 10 K and 20 K minimizes the total capital and operating cost. Since YBCO is radiation-sensitive, Monte Carlo simulation is used to study advanced shielding materials compatible with the small size of Vulcan. An adequate shield is determined to be 10 cm of zirconium borohydride, which reduces the nuclear heating of the TF coils by a factor of 11.5 and increases the YBCO tape lifetime from two calendar years in the unshielded case to 42 calendar years in the shielded case. Although this initial study presents a plausible conceptual design, future engineering work will be required to develop realistic design solutions for the TF joints, support structure, and cryogenic system.  相似文献

The KTX device is a reversed field pinch(RFP)device currently under construction. Its maximum plasma current is designed as 1 MA with a discharge time longer than 100 ms.Its major radius is 1.4 m and its minor radius is 0.55 m.One of the most important problems in the magnet system design is how to reduce the TF magnetic field ripple and error field.A new wedgeshaped TF coil is put forward for the KTX device and its electromagnetic properties are compared with those of rectangular-shaped TF coils. The error field Bn/Btof wedge-shaped TF coils with6.4 degrees is about 6%as compared with 8%in the case of a rectangular-shaped TF coil.Besides, the wedge-shaped TF coils have a lower magnetic field ripple at the edge of the plasma region, which is smaller than 7.5%at R=1.83 m and 2%at R=1.07 m.This means that the tokamak operation mode may be feasible for this device when the plasma area becomes smaller, because the maximum ripple in the plasma area of the tokamak model is always required to be smaller than 0.4%.Detailed analysis of the results shows that the structure of the wedged-shape TF coil is reliable. It can serve as a reference for TF coil design of small aspect ratio RFPs or similar torus devices.  相似文献

CFETR which stands for Chinese Fusion Engineering Testing Reactor is a superconducting Tokamak device. The concept design on RH maintenance of CFETR has been done in the past year. It is known that, the RH maintenance is one of the most important parts for Tokamak reactor. The fusion power was designed as 50–200 MW and its duty cycle time (or burning time) was estimated as 30–50%. The center magnetic field strength on the TF magnet is 5.0 T, the maximum capacity of the volt seconds provided by center solenoid winding will be about 160 VS. The plasma current will be 10 MA and its major radius and minor radius is 5.7 m and 1.6 m respectively. All the components of CFETR which provide their basic functions must be maintained and inspected during the reactor lifetime. Thus, the remote handling (RH) maintenance system should be a key component, which must be detailedly designed during the concept design processing of CFETR, for the operation of reactor. The main design work for RH maintenance in this paper was carried out including the divertor RH system, the blanket RH system and the transfer cask system. What is more, the technical problems encountered in the design process will also be discussed.  相似文献

We present the field-line modeling, design, and construction of a prototype circular-coil tokamak–torsatron hybrid called Proto-CIRCUS. The device has a major radius R = 16 cm and minor radius a < 5 cm. The six “toroidal field” coils are planar as in a tokamak, but they are tilted. This, combined with induced or driven plasma current, is expected to generate rotational transform, as seen in field-line tracing and equilibrium calculations. The device is expected to operate at lower plasma current than a tokamak of comparable size and magnetic field, which might have interesting implications for disruptions and steady-state operation. Additionally, the toroidal magnetic ripple is less pronounced than in an equivalent tokamak in which the coils are not tilted. The tilted coils are interlocked, resulting in a relatively low aspect ratio, and can be moved, both radially and in tilt angle, between discharges. This capability will be exploited for detailed comparisons between calculations and field-line mapping measurements. Such comparisons will reveal whether this relatively simple concept can generate the expected rotational transform.  相似文献

The Toroidal Field (TF) magnet system of SST-1 has sixteen NbTi/Cu based coils with about one hundred Inter-Pancake (IP) and Inter-Coil (IC) joints. New box type helium leak tight, low DC resistance joints have been designed, fabricated and tested at 5 K temperature and 10 kA DC transport current. The prototype of this joint has been validated in laboratory as well as on spare TF coil winding pack. Moreover, the performance of these joints has been realised and validated on actual sixteen TF winding packs, the joint resistance of ~0.5 nΩ repeatedly measured on hundreds of IP joints. The quality of terminations and joints was ensured at various stages of fabrication. The quality of joint box material was ensured by visual inspection, chemical analysis, radiography test, ultrasonic test, eddy current test, etc. This paper describes joint design drivers, joint design detail, prototype joint fabrication processes, quality assurance (QA)/quality control (QC) adopted during prototype and actual joint fabrication process, joint resistance measurement on actual TF coils and analysis of measured joint resistance in detail.  相似文献

KTX is a new reversed field pinch (RFP) magnetic confinement device which is under design in ASIPP and USTC. Major disruption (MD) events may occur in future operating process, which is simulated with the finite element (FE) method. The results present that the peaks of eddy currents on vessel and conductor shell are respectively 11.791 kA and 68.637 kA with maximum stress 67.1 MPa due to high transient electromagnetic (EM) force. It is confirmed that the structure is still strong enough to bear the electromagnetic loads even if the worst case. Besides, as KTX vacuum vessel will take the method of natural cooling for heat dissipation during plasma discharge (0.5–1.0 MA), a preliminary thermal calculation was implemented in normal condition to decide suitable time parameters such as duration and interval. It is suggested that the discharge interval should be no less than 5 min for the complete 1 MA plasma with 100 ms duration, which can guarantee the temperature of vacuum vessel below 200 °C.  相似文献

The magnet system of ITER includes high temperature superconducting (HTS) current leads with a maximum current of 68 kA for the toroidal field (TF) coils, 55 kA for the poloidal field (PF)/central solenoid (CS) coils and 10 kA for the control coils (CC), respectively. Although different in terms of size and operative conditions, the ITER HTS current leads have been all designed on the basis of an established concept, which was successfully developed for the LHC at CERN and proven by the so-called 70 kA “demonstrator” lead made by KIT and by the ITER pre-prototypes made by ASIPP in China. A broad R&D campaign has been undertaken by ASIPP and CERN in order to find optimized designs for each component of the leads. Nevertheless, a comprehensive picture of the performance of the entire HTS current leads is not yet available. In this paper, a steady state, full length, thermal-hydraulic 1-D modeling is applied to the study of the three types (TF, PF/CS, CC) of ITER HTS current leads. The results of this predictive analysis are then compared with relevant ITER requirements. It was found that the present design of the HTS current leads will fulfill these specifications.  相似文献

The HL-2 M tokamak is now under construction in Southwestern Institute of Physics in China. As one of the main auxiliary heating systems for HL-2 M tokamak, a new NBI beam line with 5 MW NBI power, 42° injection angle, based on 4 sets of 80 kV/45 A/5 s bucket ion sources with geometrical beam focus, is conceptually designed with geometrical calculation and engineering simulations. The preliminary structure and layout of key components including ion sources, neutralizers, ion dumps, deflection magnet, beam edge scraper, long pulse calorimeter target, short pulse calorimeter target, injection port and beam drift duct are determined. The magnetic shielding of the stray field of HL-2 M tokamak is analyzed. Beam power transmission efficiency is calculated with geometrical algorithm. The ratio of neutral beam injection power to ion beam power is as high as 48%.  相似文献

The remountable (mountable and demountable repeatedly) high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet has been proposed for huge and complex superconducting magnets in future fusion reactors to fabricate and repair easily the magnet and access inner structural components. This paper summarizes progress in R&D activities of mechanical joints of HTS conductors in terms of the electrical resistance and heat transfer performance at the joint region. The latest experimental results show the low joint resistance, 4 nΩ under 70 kA current condition using REBCO HTS conductor with mechanical lap joint system, and for the cooling system the maximum heat flux of 0.4 MW/m2 is removed by using bronze sintered porous media with sub-cooled liquid nitrogen. These values indicate that there is large possibility to design the remountable HTS magnet for fusion reactors.

A toroidal field (TF) coil power system has been designed and successfully commissioned to be suitable for the research objectives of VEST (Versatile Experiment Spherical Torus) which was recently constructed at Seoul National University. The TF coil power system for VEST is fabricated using a series–parallel connection of 200 deep-cycle batteries with 100 A h capacity so as to generate flat-top TF field of 0.12 T on magnetic axis for sufficiently long time up to hundreds of milliseconds. Ten battery modules are designed to operate independently through 10 magnetic contactor (MC) switches so as to produce toroidal magnetic field with various amplitudes and waveforms. During the initial start-up experiments of VEST, the modulation capability of toroidal magnetic field is successfully verified, showing possibility of its versatile utilization on various experimental topics in the future.  相似文献

In the ITER tokamak, the toroidal magnetic field (TF) ripple is estimated with TF coils only, with the installation of ferromagnetic inserts (FIs), and with test blanket modules (TBMs) by using a 2-D code for easy and fast calculation. We assessed the effects of the thickness of the FIs on the TF ripple in order to optimize the FI. And we analyzed how the TBMs distort the TF, and calculated the TF ripple for various amounts of a ferromagnetic material and the positions of the TBMs. Even in the case of moving the TBMs outward up to 60-cm, and reducing the ferromagnetic material to 52%, the TF ripple is not decreased below 0.38%. So we had to adopt ripple correction coils. With a 52% reduced amount of the ferromagnetic material in a TBM, we could reduce the TF ripple to 0.28% at a coil current of 100 kA turn per each coil. And with an outward recess of the TBM up to 60 cm, we could reduce the TF ripple to 0.23% at a coil current of 250 kA turn per each coil. As a combined approach, if we reduce the amount of a ferromagnetic material in a TBM to 30%, and recess the TBM to 15 cm, we can efficiently obtain the TF ripple of 0.25% at a coil current of 150 kA turn per each coil.  相似文献

The toroidal field (TF) magnet system of EAST (HT-7U), which consists of 16 superconducting coils enclosed in steel cases, has been manufactured to generate the magnetic field of 3.5 T at the plasma center to maintain plasma in a tokamak configuration with a current up to 1 MA. The TF coils have an approximately D-shape geometry of 2.6 m wide and 4.0 m high, and operate at a maximum field of 5.8 T. The conductor used in the TF coil is NbTi/Cu cable-in conduit (CIC) conductor, and its operating current is 14.3 kA.In March 2006, the first cooling down of the EAST device has been carried out successfully. The total of TF magnet system has been cooled down from room temperature to 4.5 K, and the TF system has been energized up to 8.2 kA with 5 A/s ramp rate. In September 2006, full performances of the TF magnet system have been reached, and the device of EAST has delivered its first plasma. In addition, the TF magnet system has been routinely operated with a current maintained constant on a whole day basis, for a preliminary program of more than 500 shots. In this paper, the main parts of the design, developmental tests, and the fabrication and assembly of TF coils are described in detail.  相似文献

The HL-2A tokamak will be modified into HL-2M. The Bt at the plasma center (major radius R = 1.78 m) is 2.2 T, the minor radius is 0.65 m. The plasma current IP of HL-2M will reach up to 2.5 MA, the elongation and triangularity is more than 1.8 and more than 0.5, respectively. The vacuum vessel torus consists of 20 sectors with “D” shaped cross-section and double wall structure. 20 toroidal field coil bundles comprise 140 turns which are designed with demountable joints, the poloidal field coils system consists of 25 coils. The engineering design and calculation for field coil system, vacuum vessel, support structure, etc. are finished, many key issues for manufacture process have been discussed with industry and the fabrication of main components of HL-2M tokamak will be carried out in factories.  相似文献

A novel concept of bridge joint for Poloidal field (PF) magnet of SST-1 with damaged winding pack has been realized. This joint has been fabricated on 5th and 6th layers of PF#3T coil winding pack (WP) after validation at 10 kA at liquid helium temperature of 4.2 K in current lead test chamber. The joint resistance of bridge joint was measured ∼1.6 nΩ at flat top DC current of 10 kA. This type of joint could be economically useful for revival of a shorted and damaged WP superconducting PF magnets of Tokamaks. In this paper, details of bridge joint design, fabrication and validations are discussed.  相似文献

The thermal performance of toroidal field (TF) coil is studied at 3.7 K in Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak device (EAST) to obtain the higher stability for the higher plasma parameters operation. It is a good way to lower the operating temperature of TF coil to acquire the higher stability margin. This paper describes the structure and cooling process design of TF coil and case firstly. Based on the thermal load in the case, the thermal performance of the TF coil is performed at the plasma disruption state. The helium temperature in the cable-in-conduit conductor (CICC) and case is evaluated during the 1.5 MA plasma disruptions. Then, the experimental results of TF coil which has been cooled at 3.7 K and discharged in 10 kA are shown including the thermal loss evaluation. Finally, the thermal stability performance of TF coil is analyzed according to the 3.7 K experimental results and the stability prediction is performed at 1.5 MA plasma current operations.  相似文献

Mirrors will be used in all optical and laser-based diagnostic systems of ITER. In the severe environment, the optical characteristics of mirrors will be degraded, hampering the entire performance of the respective diagnostics. A minute impurity deposition of 20 nm of carbon on the mirror is sufficient to decrease the mirror reflectivity by tens of percent outlining the necessity of the mirror cleaning in ITER. The results of R&D on plasma cleaning of molybdenum diagnostic mirrors are reported. The mirrors contaminated with amorphous carbon films in the laboratory conditions and in the tokamaks were cleaned in steady-state hydrogenic plasmas. The maximum cleaning efficiency of 4.2 nm/min was reached for the laboratory and soft tokamak hydrocarbon films, whereas for the hard tokamak films the carbidization of mirrors drastically decreased the cleaning efficiency down to 0.016 nm/min. This implies the necessity of sputtering cleaning of contaminated mirrors as the only reliable tool to remove the deposits by plasma cleaning. An overview of R&D program on mirror cleaning is provided along with plans for further studies and the recommendations for ITER mirror-based diagnostics.  相似文献

The modifying of the JT-60U magnet system to the superconducting coils is progressing as a satellite facility for ITER by both parties of Japanese government and European commission in the Broader Approach agreement. The magnet system requires current supplies of 25.7 kA for 18 TF coils and of 20 kA for 4 CS modules and 6 EF coils. The magnet system generates an average heat load of 3.2 kW at 4 K to the cryogenic system. The feeder components connected to the power supply provide current supply. The cooling pipes connected to the cryogenic system provide coolant supply. The instrumentation of the JT-60SA magnet system is used for its operation.  相似文献

In recent years the JET scientific programme has focussed on addressing physics issues essential for the consolidation of design choices and the efficient exploitation of ITER in parallel to qualifying ITER operating scenarios and developing advanced control tools. This paper reports on recent achievements in the following areas: mitigation of edge localised modes (ELMs), effects of toroidal field (TF) ripple, advanced tokamak scenarios, material migration and fuel retention. Active methods have been developed to mitigate ELMs without adversely affecting confinement. A systematic characterisation of the edge plasma, pedestal energy and ELMs, and their impact on plasma-facing components as well as their compatibility with material limits has been performed. The unique JET capability of varying the TF ripple from its normal low value δBT = 0.08% up to δBT = 1% has been used to elucidate the role of TF ripple on confinement and ELMs. Increased TF ripple in ELMy H-mode plasmas is found to have a detrimental effect on plasma stored energy and density, especially at low collisionality. The development of ITER advanced tokamak scenarios has been pursued. In particular, βN values above the ‘no-wall limit’ (βN  3.0) have been sustained for a resistive time. Gas balance studies combined with shot-resolved measurements from deposition monitors and divertor spectroscopy have confirmed the strong role of fuel co-deposition with carbon in the retention mechanism through long-range migration and also provided further evidence for the important role of ELMs in the material migration process within the JET inner divertor leg.  相似文献
