This paper presents a new control method and a new fault-tolerant drive system for a switched reluctance motor. The design, simulation, and implementation of a three-phase, 7.5 kW, eight-pole switched reluctance motor under field-oriented control are described. A speed-loop controller design based on field-oriented control and an algebraic optimization method is discussed. By using this new control method, the speed response and load disturbance rejection capability of the switched reluctance motor drive system are improved. In addition, two strategies are proposed to maintain the speed of the switched reluctance motor constant while one leg of the inverter is opened or shorted. These strategies allow the torque of the motor to be held constant in spite of such occurrences. Detailed implementation of this drive system is described. Several inverter power circuits suitable for switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives are analyzed and compared. Five inverter circuits are considered with the objective of establishing the most appropriate topology for an SRM drive. The comparison is based on the peak voltage and peak current ratings of the DC link components. Because the power converter choice depends on the motor design, the converter analysis and selection are done for a high-speed, 6/2 SRM suitable for a spindle drive and a high-torque 8/6 motor. This paper presents the design of a novel nonlinear position controller for an interior permanent-magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) servo drive. The motor model equations provide the basis for the proposed controller, which is designed with the adaptive backstepping technique. Various system uncertainties, particularly mechanical-parameter uncertainties, are incorporated in the design of the controller. Using Lyapunov's stability theory, it is verified that the control variables are asymptotically stable. The complete drive system is then simulated with MATLAB/Simulink software. Performance of the proposed adaptive-backstepping-based nonlinear position controller (ABNPC) is investigated under different dynamic operating conditions such as step changes in command positions, step changes in load, and parameter variations. The results indicate that the proposed ABNPC-based IPMSM drive could be a candidate for real-time industrial servo motor drive applications. 相似文献

This paper presents a new class of brushless motor as an alternative to the permanent-magnet brushed motor used in the automotive industry. The new flux-switching motor is a very simple motor to manufacture, and, coupled with a powerelectronic controller requiring only two power semiconductor switches, it has the potential to be extremely low cost in high volume applications. The design of the motor and its simulation using coupled circuit and time-stepping finite-element analysis is presented. Tested performance has matched well with design targets and with simulation and is delivering performance comparable to a permanent-magnet brushed motor. The new motor and drive are very robust, requiring only two power MOSFETS and a simple microcontroller to create an extremely low-cost variable-speed drive for automotive applications. 相似文献

Efficient variable-frequency control of the centrifugal pump drive motor is preferable to fluid control by a throttling valve or a bypass valve in many applications. The properties of the centrifugal pump as a motor load are discussed and the implications for the drive design. Also discussed are other properties of the motor drive in a pumping system such as startup behavior, response to pump overload, and loss of priming fluid as well as its characteristics as a control system element. Since fans and centrifugal blowers are similar in operation to centrifugal pumps, much of this discussion is also applicable to them.
