In this paper, we address some issues on the interface of buffer design and cyclic scheduling decisions in a multi-product deterministic flow line. We demonstrate the importance of the above interface for the throughput performance of the flow line. In particular, we point out that the use of sequence-independent information, such as workload distribution and variability in processing times among stations, is not adequate to decide the optimal buffer configuration of the flow line. We formulate the buffer design problem for a fixed sequence of jobs as a general resource allocation problem, and suggest two effective heuristics for its solution. For the simultaneous buffer design and cyclic scheduling problem, we suggest an iterative scheme that builds on the effectiveness of the above heuristics. One of the side results of our extensive computational studies on this problem is that the general guidelines of buffer design in single-product flow lines with stochastic processing times are not directly transferable to the multiproduct deterministic flow line environment. 相似文献

This paper advocates logistics involvement in the early phases of product design and development in a concurrent engineering environment. A concurrent engineering environment and the benefits of such involvement are explained in detail. The paper focuses on facilitating an interface and a collaboration between the designer and the logistician. A conceptual interface for design for logistics is presented. Four areas of interface are considered: (a) logistics engineering, (b) manufacturing logistics, (c) design for packaging, and (d) design for transportability. A set of detailed design factors pertaining to each area are presented. A modeling approach, Bond Energy Algorithm, is used to accomplish the design for logistics concerns developed throughout the paper. An example is provided to test and validate the algorithm. The results are analyzed and appropriate perspectives for managerial implication of the methodology are provided. Finally, some conclusions and assessments are presented. 相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to present a model to design the layout of the user interface components that handles many numbers of qualitative factors. An alternate rating system is also proposed for the closeness relationship ratings between the various pairs of components evaluated by using GOMS (goals, operators, methods and selection rules) technique. The proposed model is applied to the design of the part of the user interface in order to obtain the best layout of the components. The results of the proposed model are compared with that of an existing model, which handles single qualitative factor applied to obtain the layouts of user interface components. 相似文献

本文主要是设计制作了针对物流与供应链管理中的物资配送问题的一个“物流通”软件。我们首先构造了一个最优化模型并结合Matlab和Excel进行编程计算及软件设计制作。所设计的物资配送应用软件能独立于Matlab进行方案的优化运行,实现了与Excel电子表格的接口并使得能在Excel中直观地显示配送的最优方案.最后我们结合具体案例进行了分析,分析结果说明了所给软件的有效性,且具有使用方便,图形用户界面良好的特点。 相似文献

We re-examine the conclusion established earlier in the literature that in the presence of a homogeneously imperfect interface, the circular inhomogeneity is the only shape of inhomogeneity which can achieve a uniform internal strain field in an isotropic or anisotropic material subjected to anti-plane shear. We show that under certain conditions, it is indeed possible to design such non-circular inhomogeneities despite the limitation of a homogeneously imperfect interface. Our method proceeds by prescribing a uniform strain field inside a non-circular inhomogeneity via perturbations of the uniform strain field inside the analogous circular inhomogeneity and then subsequently identifying the corresponding (non-circular) shape via the use of a conformal mapping whose unknown coefficients are determined from a system of nonlinear equations. We illustrate our results with several examples. We note also that, for a given size of inhomogeneity, the minimum value of the interface parameter required to guarantee the desired uniform internal strain increases as the elastic constants of the inclusion approach those of the matrix. Finally, we discuss in detail the relationship between the curvature of the interface and the displacement jump across the interface in the design of such inhomogeneities. 相似文献

A general purpose optimization program is coupled to a large scale finite element program to provide an efficient tool for structural synthesis. The resulting interface program may be used to design structures for minimum weight, subject to constraints on stress, displacement, and vibration frequencies. A variety of state-of-the-art techniques are employed, including design variable linking, constraint deletion, reciprocal variables, and formal approximations. The capability is demonstrated with the design of a gear housing using 30 design variables and over 5000 nonlinear inequality constraints. The finite element model consists of over 1600 elements and 7000 displacement degrees of freedom. The design required six detailed finite element analyses and approximately one hour on a Cray-1s supercomputer. It is concluded that structures of practical size and complexity can be efficiently designed using numerical optimization. 相似文献
