In this paper the nonlinear response of a base-excited slender beam carrying an attached mass is investigated with 1:3:9 internal resonances for principal and combinationparametric resonances. Here the method of normal forms is used to reduce the second order nonlinear temporal differential equation of motion of the system to a set offirst order nonlinear differential equations which are used to find the fixed-point, periodic, quasi-periodic and chaotic responses of the system.Stability and bifurcation analysis of the responses are carried out and bifurcation sets are plotted. Many chaotic phenomena are reported in this paper.  相似文献

A two-degree-of-freedom bifurcation system for an elastic cable with 1:1 internal resonance is investigated in this paper. The transition set of the system is obtained with the singularity theory for three cases. The whole parametric plane is divided into several different persistent regions by the transition set. The bifurcation diagrams in different persistent regions are obtained.  相似文献

A set of nonlinear differential equations is established by using Kane‘s method for the planar oscillation of flexible beams undergoing a large linear motion. In the case of a simply supported slender beam under certain average acceleration of base, the second natural frequency of the beam may approximate the tripled first one so that the condition of 3 : 1 internal resonance of the beam holds true. The method of multiple scales is used to solve directly the nonlinear differential equations and to derive a set of nonlinear modulation equations for the principal parametric resonance of the first mode combined with 3 : 1 internal resonance between the first two modes. Then, the modulation equations are numerically solved to obtain the steady-state response and the stability condition of the beam. The abundant nonlinear dynamic behaviors, such as various types of local bifurcations and chaos that do not appear for linear models, can be observed in the case studies. For a Hopf bifurcation, the 4-dimensional modulation equations are reduced onto the central manifold and the type of Hopf bifurcation is determined. As usual, a limit cycle may undergo a series of period-doubling bifurcations and become a chaotic oscillation at last.  相似文献

This study analyses the nonlinear transverse vibration of an axially moving beam subject to two frequency excitation. Focus has been made on simultaneous resonant cases i.e. principal parametric resonance of first mode and combination parametric resonance of additive type involving first two modes in presence of internal resonance. By adopting the direct method of multiple scales, the governing nonlinear integro-partial differential equation for transverse motion is reduced to a set of nonlinear first order ordinary partial differential equations which are solved either by means of continuation algorithm or via direct time integration. Specifically, the frequency response plots and amplitude curves, their stability and bifurcation are obtained using continuation algorithm. Numerical results reveal the rich and interesting nonlinear phenomena that have not been presented in the existent literature on the nonlinear dynamics of axially moving systems.  相似文献

The subharmonic resonance and bifurcations of a clamped-clamped buckled beam under base harmonic excitations are investigated. The nonlinear partial integrodifferential equation of the motion of the buckled beam with both quadratic and cubic nonlinearities is given by using Hamilton's principle. A set of second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations are obtained by spatial discretization with the Galerkin method. A high-dimensional model of the buckled beam is derived, concerning nonlinear coupling. The incremental harmonic balance (IHB) method is used to achieve the periodic solutions of the high-dimensional model of the buckled beam to observe the nonlinear frequency response curve and the nonlinear amplitude response curve, and the Floquet theory is used to analyze the stability of the periodic solutions. Attention is focused on the subharmonic resonance caused by the internal resonance as the excitation frequency near twice of the first natural frequency of the buckled beam with/without the antisymmetric modes being excited. Bifurcations including the saddle-node, Hopf, perioddoubling, and symmetry-breaking bifurcations are observed. Furthermore, quasi-periodic motion is observed by using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method, which results from the Hopf bifurcation of the response of the buckled beam with the anti-symmetric modes being excited.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior of a one-degree-of-freedom, parametrically excited nonlinear system is investigated. The Galerkin method is applied to the principal and fundamental parameteric resonance of the system. The continuation method is used to study the change of harmonic oscillation with respect to the variation of excitation frequency. The numerical stability analysis of the trivial solution is carried out and the stable and unstable regions of the trivial solution are given. They are found to agree with the results obtained by the analytical method of Galerkin. Periodic solutions are traced and the coexistence of multi-periodic solutions is observed With the change of excitation frequency the large amplitude periodic-2 oscillation is found to be in the same closed branch with the small amplitude periodic-2 solution. In addition, the bifurcation pattern of the trivial solution is found to change from subcritical Hopf bifurcation into supercritical Hopf bifurcation with the increase of excitation amplitude. Combined with the conventional numerical integration method, new complex dynamic behavior is detected.  相似文献

To investigate the principal resonance in transverse nonlinear parametric vibration of an axially accelerating viscoelastic string, the method of multiple scales is applied directly to the nonlinear partial differential equation that governs the transverse vibration of the string. To derive the governing equation, Newton‘s second law, Lagrangean strain, and Kelvin‘s model are respectively used to account the dynamical relation, geometric nonlinearity and the viscoelasticity of the string material. Based on the solvability condition of eliminating the secular terms, closed form solutions are obtained for the amplitude and the existence conditions of nontrivial steady-state response of the principal parametric resonance. The Lyapunov linearized stability theory is employed to analyze the stability of the trivial and nontrivial solutions in the principal parametric resonance. Some numerical examples are presented to show the effects of the mean transport speed, the amplitude and the frequency of speed variation.  相似文献

The nonlinear response of an initially buckled beam in the neighborhood of 1:1 internal resonance is investigated analytically, numerically, and experimentally. The method of multiple time scales is applied to derive the equations in amplitudes and phase angles. Within a small range of the internal detuning parameter, the first mode; which is externally excited, is found to transfer energy to the second mode. Outside this region, the response is governed by a unimodal response of the first mode. Stability boundaries of the unimodal response are determined in terms of the excitation level, and internal and external detuning parameters. Boundaries separating unimodal from mixed mode responses are obtained in terms of the excitation and internal detuning parameters. Stationary and non-stationary solutions are found to coexist in the case of mixed mode response. For the case of non-stationary response, the modulation of the amplitude depends on the integration increment such that the motion can be periodically or chaotically modulated for a choice of different integration increments. The results obtained by multiple time scales are qualitatively compared with those obtained by numerical simulation of the original equations of motion and by experimental measurements. Both numerical integration and experimental results reveal the occurrence of multifurcation, escaping from one well to the other in an irregular manner. and chaotic motion.  相似文献

The dynamic behaviors of two-degree-of-freedom Duffing system with cubic coupled terms are studied. First, the steady-state responses in principal resonance and internal resonance of the system are analyzed by the multiple scales method. Then, the bifurcation structure is investigated as a function of the strength of the driving force F. In addition to the familiar routes to chaos already encountered in unidimensional Duffing oscillators, this model exhibits symmetry-breaking, period-doubling of both types and a great deal of highly periodic motion and Hopf bifurcation, many of which occur more than once. We explore the chaotic behaviors of our model using three indicators, namely the top Lyapunov exponent, Poincaré cross-section and phase portrait, which are plotted to show the manifestation of coexisting periodic and chaotic attractors.  相似文献

The nonlinear interactions of a microarch resonator with 3:1 internal resonance are studied. The microarch is subjected to a combination of direct current(DC)and alternating current(AC) electric voltages. Thin piezoelectric layers are thoroughly bonded on the top and bottom surfaces of the microarch. The piezoelectric actuation is not only used to modulate the stiffness and resonance frequency of the resonator but also to provide the suitable linear frequency ratio for the activation of the inte...  相似文献

The bifurcation dynamics of shallow arch which possesses initial deflection under periodic excitation for the case of 1∶2 internal resonance is studied in this paper. The whole parametric plane is divided into several different regions according to the types of motions; then the distribution of steady state motions of shallow arch on the plane of physical parameters is obtained. Combining with numerical method, the dynamics of the system in different regions, especially in the Hopf bifurcation region, is studied in detail. The rule of the mode interaction and the route to chaos of the system is also analysed at the end. Dynamic modeling of a cantilever beam under an axial movement of its basement is presented. The dynamic equation of motion for the cantilever beam is established by using Kane's equation first and then simplified through the Rayleigh-Ritz method. Compared with the older modeling method, which linearizes the generalized inertia forces and the generalized active forces, the present modeling takes the coupled cubic nonlinearities of geometrical and inertial types into consideration. The method of multiple scales is used to directly solve the nonlinear differential equations and to derive the nonlinear modulation equation for the principal parametric resonance. The results show that the nonlinear inertia terms produce a softening effect and play a significant role in the planar response of the second mode and the higher ones. On the other hand, the nonlinear geometric terms produce a hardening effect and dominate the planar response of the first mode. The validity of the present modeling is clarified through the comparisons of its coefficients with those experimentally verified in previous studies. Based on the von Karman plate theory of large deflection, we have derived a non-linear partial differential equation for the vibration of a thin orthotropic plate under the combined action of a transverse magnetic field and a transverse harmonic mechanical load. The influence of the magnetic field is due to the magnetic Lorentz force induced by the eddy current. By employing the Bubnov-Galerkin method, the non-linear partial differential equation is transformed into a third-order non-linear ordinary differential equation. The amplitude-frequency equations are further derived by means of the multiple-scale method. As numerical examples for an orthotropic plate made of silver, the influence of the magnetic field, orthotropic material property, plate thickness, and the mechanical load on the principal resonance behavior is investigated. The higher-order effect and stability of the solution are also discussed.  相似文献

A vibro-impact forming machine with double masses is considered. The components of the vibrating system collide with each other. Such models play an important role in the studies of dynamics of mechanical systems with impacting components. The Poincaré section associated with the state of the impact-forming system, just immediately after the impact, is chosen, and the period n single-impact motion and its disturbed map are derived analytically. A center manifold theorem technique is applied to reduce the Poincaré map to a two-dimensional map, and the normal form map associated with codimension two bifurcation of 1:2 resonance is obtained. Unfolding of the normal form map is analyzed. Dynamical behavior of the impact-forming system, near the point of codimension two bifurcation, is investigated by using qualitative analyses and numerical simulation. Near the point of codimension two bifurcation there exists not only Neimark-Sacker bifurcation associated with period one single-impact motion, but also Neimark-Sacker bifurcation of period two double-impact motion. Transition of different forms of fixed points of single-impact periodic orbits, near the bifurcation point, is demonstrated, and different routes from periodic impact motions to chaos are also discussed. The 1:2 subharmonic resonance of the labyrinth seals-rotor system is investigated, where the low-frequency vibration of steam turbines can be caused by the gas exciting force. The empirical parameters of gas exciting force of the Muszynska model are obtained by using the results of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Based on the multiple scale method, the 1:2 subharmonic resonance response of the dynamic system is gained by truncating the system with three orders. The transition sets and the local bifurcations diagrams of the dynamics system are presented by employing the singular theory analysis. Meanwhile, the existence conditions of subharmonic resonance non-zero solutions of the dynamic system are obtained, which provides a new theoretical basis in recognizing and protecting the rotor from the subharmonic resonant failure in the turbine machinery.  相似文献
