In this paper we derive necessary and sufficient conditions of stabilizability for multi‐input nonlinear systems possessing a Hopf bifurcation with the critical mode being linearly uncontrollable, under the non‐degeneracy assumption that stability can be determined by the third order term in the normal form of the dynamics on the centre manifold. Stabilizability is defined as the existence of a sufficiently smooth state feedback such that the Hopf bifurcation of the closed‐loop system is supercritical, which is equivalent to local asymptotic stability of the system at the bifurcation point. We prove that under the non‐degeneracy conditions, stabilizability is equivalent to the existence of solutions to a third order algebraic inequality of the feedback gains. Explicit conditions for the existence of solutions to the algebraic inequality are derived, and the stabilizing feedback laws are constructed. Part of the sufficient conditions are equivalent to the rank conditions of an augmented matrix which is a generalization of the Popov–Belevitch–Hautus (PBH) rank test of controllability for linear time invariant (LTI) systems. The diffusive Lotka-Volterra predator-prey system with two delays is reconsidered here. The stability of the coexistence equilibrium and associated Hopf bifurcation are investigated by analyzing the characteristic equations, and our results complement earlier ones. This paper deals with two types of bidirectional Hopf bifurcation phenomena in two-stage cascade DC-DC buck converter, which is a popular design solution for obtaining larger conversion rates in distributed power systems (DPS). By means of “exact” cycle-by-cycle numerical simulations, it is found that two types of bidirectional Hopf bifurcations that never occur in standalone buck converter are observed under the variations of some particular circuit parameters. Based on the derived averaged model, theoretical analysis is performed to identify the two types of bidirectional bifurcations by judging in what way the eigenvalue loci of the Jacobian move, and further to reveal their underlying mechanisms. In addition, some behavior boundaries are given in parameter space, and some rules are proposed to avoid the occurrence of the bidirectional Hopf bifurcations. A family of polynomial differential systems describing the behavior of a chemical reaction network with generalized mass action kinetics is investigated. The coefficients and monomials are given by graphs. The aim of this investigation is to clarify the algebraic-discrete aspects of a Hopf bifurcation in these special differential equations. We apply concepts from toric geometry and convex geometry. As usual in stoichiometric network analysis we consider the solution set as a convex polyhedral cone and we intersect it with the deformed toric variety of the monomials. Using Gröbner bases the polynomial entries of the Jacobian are expressed in different coordinate systems. Then the Hurwitz criterion is applied in order to determine parameter regions where a Hopf bifurcation occurs. Examples from chemistry illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

The control of a three-link planar robot, whose parameters roughly match a small commercially available arm, is considered. The end effector of the arm moves along a specified trajectory on a surface with dry friction while maintaining a prespecified constant pressure against the surface both with and without force sensors at the tip. A control strategy is presented with nonlinear position and velocity error feedback gains which are state dependent. Digital computer simulations of the motion are provided for comparison purposes and for demonstrating the effectiveness of this strategy.  相似文献

Linear models of synaptic plasticity provide a useful starting-point for examining the dynamics of neuronal development and learning, but their inherent problems are well known. Models of synaptic plasticity that embrace the demands of biological realism are therefore typically nonlinear. Viewed from a more abstract perspective, nonlinear models of synaptic plasticity are a subset of nonlinear dynamical systems. As such, they may therefore exhibit bifurcations under the variation of control parameters, including noise and errors in synaptic updates. One source of noise or error is the cross-talk that occurs during otherwise Hebbian plasticity. Under cross-talk, stimulation of a set of synapses can induce or modify plasticity in adjacent, unstimulated synapses. Here, we analyze two nonlinear models of developmental synaptic plasticity and a model of independent component analysis in the presence of a simple model of cross-talk. We show that cross-talk does indeed induce bifurcations in these models, entirely destroying their ability to acquire either developmentally or learning-related patterns of fixed points. Importantly, the critical level of cross-talk required to induce bifurcations in these models is very sensitive to the statistics of the afferents' activities and the number of afferents synapsing on a postsynaptic cell. In particular, the critical level can be made arbitrarily small. Because bifurcations are inevitable in nonlinear models, our results likely apply to many nonlinear models of synaptic plasticity, although the precise details vary by model. Hence, many nonlinear models of synaptic plasticity are potentially fatally compromised by the toxic influence of cross-talk and other sources of noise and errors more generally. We conclude by arguing that biologically realistic models of synaptic plasticity must be robust against noise-induced bifurcations and that biological systems may have evolved strategies to circumvent their possible dangers.  相似文献

In this paper we provide a simple algorithm of feedback design for systems with uncontrollable linearization with only quadratic degeneracy, such as transcritical and saddle-node bifurcations. This approach avoids the computation of nonlinear normal forms. The behavior of stability regions of nonlinear autonomous dynamical systems subjected to parameter variation is studied in this paper. In particular, the behavior of stability regions and stability boundaries when the system undergoes a type‐zero sadle‐node bifurcation on the stability boundary is investigated in this paper. It is shown that the stability regions suffer drastic changes with parameter variation if type‐zero saddle‐node bifurcations occur on the stability boundary. A stabilizer is described that renders 0 2 a global finite-time attractor for a class of nonlinear uncertain two-dimensional dynamical systems. The stabilizer is of discontinuous feedback form: the analytic framework is that of differential inclusions. An adaptive version of the stabilizer is also developed that, for a larger class of systems, guarantees global asymptotic attractivity of the origin. This paper is concerned with the problem of global adaptive stabilization by output feedback for a class of planar nonlinear systems with uncertain control coefficient and unknown growth rate. The control coefficient is not supposed to have known upper bound, and this relaxes the corresponding requirement in the existing literature (see e.g. 1 , 2 . First, by the universal control method, an observer is constructed based on the dynamic high‐gain K‐filters. Then, the control design procedure is developed to obtain the stabilizing controller and dynamic compensator for the uncertainties in the control coefficient. It is shown that the global stability of the closed‐loop system can be guaranteed by the appropriate choice of the design parameters. The improved nonlinear least‐square method is introduced into the synthesis of subarrayed planar array. This method changes the traditional least‐square method's shortness of being sensitive to its initial conditions. The whole antenna aperture is divided into several subarrays and the excitation amplitude of each subarray is optimized. This can reduce the cost and complexity of the antenna array through common use of components or mass production of identical subarrays. The author considers a flexible structure modeled as a rigid body which rotates in inertial space; a light flexible beam is clamped to the rigid body at one end and free one is clamped at the other. It is assumed that the flexible beam performs only planar motion. The equations of motion are obtained by using free body diagrams. Two control problems are posed, namely the orientation and stabilization of the system. It is shown that suitable boundary controls applied to the free end of the beam and suitable control torques applied to the rigid body solve the problems posed above.
