The magnetically optical bi-stability, a third-order nonlinear response, is investigated on an antiferromagnetic (AF) sandwich structure, where an AF film is sandwiched between two dielectric films. The configuration with the AF anisotropy axis and external static magnetic field both in the interfaces and normal to the incident plane is used. The incident wave is taken as a TE wave with its electric component transverse to the incident plane. We find that bistable switches can appear only in a finite frequency range and an incident angle range for a given regime of incident power, which means that there are the critical incident angle and frequency. The power threshold value for the bi-stability increases with the incident angle. In addition, the bi-stability also easily is modulated by the external magnetic field.  相似文献

We investigate the nonlinear dynamics of a system composed of a cigar-shaped Bose-Einstein condensate and an optical cavity with the two sides coupled dispersively.By adopting discrete-mode approximation for the condensate,taking atom loss as a necessary part of the model to analyze the evolution of the system,while using trial and error method to find out steady states of the system as a reference,numerical simulation demonstrates that with a constant pump,atom loss will trigger a quantum optical bi-stability switch,which predicts a new interesting phenomenon for experiments to verify.  相似文献

The phase diagrams and temperature dependences of total magnetization mT in two antiferromagnetic transverse Ising thin films with same thickness L (L = 4), consisting of two (A and B) layers, are studied by the uses of the effective-field theory with correlations and the mean-field theory. The A and B layers are consisted of spin-1/2 atoms and they have opposite spin directions. Two magnetic structures are discussed and they exhibit rather different and characteristic behaviors for the magnetic properties. Many characteristic behaviors observed in standard ferrimagnetic materials as well as novel phenomena have been obtained for the thermal variations of mT in the both systems, when the crystallographically equivalent conditions between the A and B layers are broken.  相似文献

We present experimental evidence for a three-dimensional noncollinear antiferromagnetic spin structure in ultrathin single-crystalline fcc Fe50Mn50 layers using magnetic circular dichroism photoelectron emission microscopy and x-ray magnetic linear dichroism. Layer-resolved as-grown domain images of epitaxial trilayers grown on Cu(001) in which FeMn is sandwiched between ferromagnetic layers with different easy axes reveal the presence of antiferromagnetic spin components in the film plane and normal to the film plane. An FeMn spin structure with no collinear order in the film plane is consistent with the absence of x-ray magnetic linear dichroism in Fe L3 absorption in FeMn/Co bilayers.  相似文献

A study has been made of the directional stability of the unidirectional anisotropy in two-layer films of manganese and Permalloy 82 with respect to temperature and magnetic fields up to 30 kOe. The magnetic anisotropy in antiferromagnetic 500 A thick NiO films, before and after the establishment of an exchange bias field with Co84Fe16 ferromagnetic layers, was measured using magnetic linear dichroism in soft x-ray absorption. Both <111> textured NiO and untextured NiO films show exchange-bias induced in-plane magnetic anisotropy of nearly equal magnitude and with the Ni moment axis being nearly parallel to the exchange bias field direction. These results represent the first observation of the key step in the exchange biasing process, namely, repopulation of the antiferromagnetic domains whose magnetization axis is closest to the exchange bias field direction.  相似文献

We investigate the optical conductivity of iron pnictides in antiferromagnetic state by mean-field calculation in a five-band Hubbard model, focusing on its anisotropic behavior by examining several states calculated with different Hund coupling J, such as the states with a low or high magnetization and with or without a strong orbital ordering. In addition, we investigate the J dependence of the Dirac cone structure, which is crucial for the low energy excitation. In our calculations, a weakly ordered state with no orbital ordering shows the anisotropy of optical conductivity in accord with experiments. We conclude that the low energy part of the optical conductivity is relevant to the Dirac electron structure rather than the orbital ordering.  相似文献

Thes-f model with spinS=7/2 has been used to study the temperature dependence of the optical absorption edge of an antiferromagnetic semiconductor. Two possible antiferromagnetic structures are considered: anAB two-sublattice model and an eight-subllattice model (MnO structure). For theAB two-sublattice model the density of states has been calculated as a function of temperature. A blue shift of the absorption edge of about 0.057 eV is obtained betweenT=T N andT=0 K for this structure (using the parameters for EuTe). The dependence of the blue shift on the bandwidth and the band filling has been studied. For small values of the band filling the blue shift is practically unchanged.In the case of eight-sublattice structure the lowest single-particle energy (the bottom of the conduction band edge) has been observed as a function of temperature. Using the parameter set suitable for EuTe, it is concluded that the eight-sublattice structure does not show any shift of the optical absorption edge when the temperature is varied.  相似文献

Frequency broadening and self-focusing of optical pulses are observed in antiferromagnetic KNiF3 under intense pico- second laser excitation. Strong effects of ferromagnetic layer (FMCo, and Ni80Fe20) on the magnitude and blocking temperature of exchange coupling are observed in antiferromagnetic NiO-based films NiO (5 nm)/FM1 (t nm)/FM2 (6-t nm). The existence of interfacial spins configuration in glass-like state and FM anisotropy are proposed to interpret a minimum shown in thermal magnetization curves for films with strong exchange coupling effect. The microstructural change of FM layer and the long-range interaction of exchange bias are taken into account to explain a strong dependence of exchange coupling energy density on the thickness tF of FM layer when tF<5 nm.  相似文献

The staggered susceptibility of spin-1 and spin-3/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet with easy-axis single-ion anisotropy on the cubic lattice films consisting of n=2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 interacting square lattice layers is studied by high-temperature series expansions. Sixth order series in J/kBT have been obtained for free-surface boundary conditions. The dependence of the Néel temperature on film thickness n and easy-axis anisotropy D has been investigated. The shifts of the Néel temperature from the bulk value can be described by a power law nλ with a shift exponent λ, where λ is the inverse of the bulk correlation length exponent. The effect of easy-axis single-ion anisotropy on shift exponent of antiferromagnetic films has been studied. A comparison is made with related works. The results obtained are qualitatively consistent with the predictions of finite-size scaling theory.  相似文献

We study the behavior of surface and bulk polaritons in thin antiferromagnetic films when a dc magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the easy axis. Dispersion relations are obtained for magnetostatic modes, as well as for retarded polaritons. It is shown that, the dispersion relations of localized modes exhibit reciprocity, i.e. but they are non equivalent since they are localized in different regions. The non reciprocal character of surface modes in a semi infinite sample is regained for very thick films.  相似文献

Langmuir-Blodgett multilayers of ferric arachidate (abbreviated: FeA) on silicon wafers have been investigated by means of conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy (CEMS) and absorption Mössbauer spectroscopy at different temperatures between room temperature and 4.2 K, without and with external magnetic fields up to 5 T. The films show a quasicrystalline structure with ac-axis orientation perpendicular to the plane and a random distribution of orientations in the plane of the films. All Mössbauer spectra show Fe3+. At low temperatures, antiferromagnetic ordering has been observed. The lines in both the room temperature and the low-temperature spectra are significantly broadened, which is due to a distribution of electric field gradients and hyperfine fields. The reason for this is a slightly disordered iron environment. The orientation and the distribution function of the internal magnetic fields have been determined.  相似文献

We find that Ni L2 edge x-ray magnetic linear dichroism is fully reversed for NiO(001) films on materials with reversed lattice mismatch. We relate this phenomenon to a preferential stabilization of magnetic S domains with main spin component either in or out of the plane, via dipolar interactions. This suggests a way to selectively control spin structures in 3d systems with small spin-orbit coupling.  相似文献

Modulation functions of fibre optical displacement sensors, based on the principle of reflective intensity modulation, are calculated. Effects of surface features, such as reflectivity slope and inclination of samples, on the sensor response are studied. These studies have been carried out for two types of samples: perfectly smooth ones, that only reflect a probe beam specularly; and samples considered as Lambertian objects, that diffuse the probe beam in all directions. Applications of both theoretical models for practical measurements are discussed, particularly for a dual-channel sensor, using two receiving fibres, that is able to compensate for the effects of sample surface features on the modulation functions.  相似文献
