In this article, the approximate amenability of semigroup algebra ?1(S) is investigated, where (S) is a uniformly locally finite inverse semigroup. Indeed, we show that for a uniformly locally finite inverse semigroup (S), the notions of amenability, approximate amenability and bounded approximate amenability of ?1(S) are equivalent. We use this to give a direct proof of the approximate amenability of ?1(S) for a Brandt semigroup (S). Moreover, we characterize the approximate amenability of ?1(S), where S is a uniformly locally finite band semigroup.  相似文献

We consider some almost periodic type function algebras on a weighted semitopological semigroup, and using the set of multiplicative means on each of these algebras, we define their corresponding weighted semigroup compactifications. This will constitute an effective tool for investigating the properties of the function algebras concerned. We also show that these compactifications do not retain all the nice properties of the ordinary semigroup compactifications unless we impose some restrictions on the weight functions.  相似文献

For a large class of locally compact semitopological semigroups S, the Stone-Čech compactification β S is a semigroup compactification if and only if S is either discrete or countably compact. Furthermore, for this class of semigroups which are neither discrete nor countably compact, the quotient contains a linear isometric copy of . Stone-Čech compactifications derived from a discrete semigroup S can be considered as the spectrum of the algebra ℬ(S) or as a collection of ultrafilters on S. What is certain and indisputable is the fact that filters play an important role in the study of Stone-Čech compactifications derived from a discrete semigroup. It seems that filters can play a role in the study of general semigroup compactifications too. In the present paper, first we review the characterizations of semigroup compactifications in terms of filters and then extend some of the results in Papazyan (Semigroup Forum 41:329–338, 1990) concerning the Stone-Čech compactification to a semigroup compactification associated with a Hausdorff semitopological semigroup.  相似文献

We deal with iterative algebras of functions of -valued logic lacking projections, which we call algebras without projections. It is shown that a partially ordered set of algebras of functions of -valued logic, for , without projections contains an interval isomorphic to the lattice of all iterative algebras of functions of -valued logic. It is found out that every algebra without projections is contained in some maximal algebra without projections, which is the stabilizer of a semigroup of non-surjective transformations of the basic set. It is proved that the stabilizer of a semigroup of all monotone non-surjective transformations of a linearly ordered 3-element set is not a maximal algebra without projections, but the stabilizer of a semigroup of all transformations preserving an arbitrary non one-element subset of the basic set is.  相似文献

Let S be a finite orthodox semigroup or an orthodox semigroup where the idempotent band E(S) is locally pseudofinite. In this paper, by using principal factors and Rukolaǐne idempotents, we show that the contracted semigroup algebra R0[S] is semiprimitive if and only if S is an inverse semigroup and R[G] is semiprimitive for each maximal subgroup G of S. This theorem strengthens previous results about the semiprimitivity of inverse semigroup algebras.  相似文献

Let K be a commutative ring with unit and S an inverse semigroup. We show that the semigroup algebra KS can be described as a convolution algebra of functions on the universal étale groupoid associated to S by Paterson. This result is a simultaneous generalization of the author's earlier work on finite inverse semigroups and Paterson's theorem for the universal C-algebra. It provides a convenient topological framework for understanding the structure of KS, including the center and when it has a unit. In this theory, the role of Gelfand duality is replaced by Stone duality.Using this approach we construct the finite dimensional irreducible representations of an inverse semigroup over an arbitrary field as induced representations from associated groups, generalizing the case of an inverse semigroup with finitely many idempotents. More generally, we describe the irreducible representations of an inverse semigroup S that can be induced from associated groups as precisely those satisfying a certain “finiteness condition.” This “finiteness condition” is satisfied, for instance, by all representations of an inverse semigroup whose image contains a primitive idempotent.  相似文献

A semigroup is called completely J(ι)-simple if it is isomorphic to some Rees matrix semigroup over a left cancellative monoid and each entry of whose sandwich matrix is in the group of units of the left cancellative monoid. It is proved that completely J(ι)-simple semigroups form a quasivarity. Moreover, the construction of free completely J(ι)-simple semigroups is given. It is found that a free completely J(ι)-simple semigroup is just a free completely J *-simple semigroup and also a full subsemigroup of some completely simple semigroups.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to research the relation among generalized path algebras, pseudo-admissible ordered semigroup algebras and path algebras over algebras. First, the Gabriel theorem for contract pseudo-admissible ordered semigroup algebras is given. Second, a family of pseudo-admissible ordered semigroups is mixed together via the method of generalized path algebras to construct a new pseudo-admissible ordered semigroup as the extended version. Finally, we characterize the path algebra over an algebra in two ways through normal and non-normal generalized path algebras, respectively, over a field.  相似文献

In this paper, we determine all the Rota-Baxter operators of weight zero on semigroup algebras of order two and three with the help of computer algebra. We determine the matrices for these Rota-Baxter operators by directly solving the defining equations of the operators. We study a numerical semigroup ring as an algebra over another numerical semigroup ring. The complete intersection property of numerical semigroup algebras is investigated using factorizations of monomials into minimal ones. The goal is to study whether a flat rectangular algebra is a complete intersection. Along this direction, special types of algebras generated by few monomials are worked out in detail.  相似文献

There exists a deep relationship between the nonexplosion conditions for Markov evolution in classical and quantum probability theories. Both of these conditions are equivalent to the preservation of the unit operator (total probability) by a minimal Markov semigroup. In this work, we study the Heisenberg evolution describing an interaction between the chain ofN two-level atoms andn-mode external Bose field, which was considered recently by J. Alli and J. Sewell. The unbounded generator of the Markov evolution of observables acts in the von Neumann algebra. For the generator of a Markov semigroup, we prove a nonexplosion condition, which is the operator analog of a similar condition suggested by R. Z. Khas’minski and later by T. Taniguchi for classical stochastic processes. For the operator algebra situation, this condition ensures the uniqueness and conservativity of the quantum dynamical semigroup describing the Markov evolution of a quantum system. In the regular case, the nonexplosion condition establishes a one-to-one relation between the formal generator and the infinitesimal operator of the Markov semigroup. This paper is concerned first with the behaviour of differences T(t) - T(s) near the origin, where (T(t)) is a semigroup of operators on a Banach space, defined either on the positive real line or a sector in the right half-plane (in which case it is assumed analytic). For the non-quasinilpotent case extensions of results in the published literature are provided, with best possible constants; in the case of quasinilpotent semigroups on the half-plane, it is shown that, in general, differences such as T(t) -T(2t) have norm approaching 2 near the origin. The techniques given enable one to derive estimates of other functions of the generator of the semigroup; in particular, conditions are given on the derivatives near the origin to guarantee that the semigroup generates a unital algebra and has bounded generator.  相似文献

We prove that the problems of representing a finite ordered complemented semigroup or finite lattice-ordered semigroup as an algebra of binary relations over a finite set are undecidable.
