This paper explores interoperability for data represented using the Graph Annotation Framework (GrAF) (Ide and Suderman, 2007) and the data formats utilized by two general-purpose annotation systems: the General Architecture for Text Engineering (GATE) (Cunningham et al., 2002) and the Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA) (Ferrucci and Lally in Nat Lang Eng 10(3–4):327–348, 2004). GrAF is intended to serve as a “pivot” to enable interoperability among different formats, and both GATE and UIMA are at least implicitly designed with an eye toward interoperability with other formats and tools. We describe the steps required to perform a round-trip rendering from GrAF to GATE and GrAF to UIMA CAS and back again, and outline the commonalities as well as the differences and gaps that came to light in the process.  相似文献

As a large number of corpuses are represented, stored and published in XML format, how to find useful information from XML databases has become an increasingly important issue. Keyword search enables web users to easily access XML data without the need to learn a structured query language or to study complex data schemas. Most existing indexing strategies for XML keyword search are based upon Dewey encoding. In this paper, we proposed a new encoding method called Level Order and Father (LAF) for XML documents. With LAF encoding, we devised a new index structure, called two‐layer LAF inverted index, which can greatly decrease the space complexity compared with Dewey encoding‐based inverted index. Furthermore, with two‐layer LAF inverted index, we proposed a new keyword query algorithm called Algorithm based on Binary Search (ABS) that can quickly find all Smallest Lowest Common Ancestor. We experimentally evaluate two‐layer LAF inverted index and ABS algorithm on four real XML data sets selected from Wikipedia. The experimental results prove the advantages of our index method and querying algorithm. The space consumed by two‐layer LAF index is less than half of that consumed by Dewey inverted index. The design of distributed systems to support collaboration among groups of scientists raises new networking challenges that grid middleware developers are addressing. This field of development work, ‘e-Science’, is increasingly recognising the critical need of understanding the ordinary day-to-day work of doing research to inform design. We have investigated one particular area of collaborative social scientific work – the analysis of video data. Based on interviews and observational studies, we discuss current practices of social scientific work with digital video in three areas: Preparation for collaboration; Control of data and application; and Annotation configurations and techniques. For each, we describe how these requirements feature in our design of a distributed video analysis system as part of the MiMeG project: our security policy and distribution; the design of the control system; and providing freeform annotation over data. Finally, we review our design in light of initial use of the software between project partners; and discuss how we might transform the spatial configuration of the system to support annotation behaviour.  相似文献

We discuss the usage of the (non-OO) Z specification language to represent some fundamental concepts of the ISO Reference Model of Open Distributed Processing (RM-ODP) and the ISO General Relationship Model (GRM). After discussing some of the difficulties involved, we offer suggestions on how Z can be used successfully for specifying and modeling open object-based distributed systems. Although fundamental specification concepts of RM-ODP and GRM are less well-known than “traditional” mathematics, we propose an RM-ODP toolkit somewhat analogous in its usage to the well-known mathematical toolkit in Z.  相似文献

The field equations of Einstein–Cartan theory are solved to describe the gravitational field due to a rotating spin-polarized cylindrical perfect fluid distribution with the proper choice of stress-energy-momentum tensor of Ray and Smalley. We show that the interior metric can be matched to an exterior vacuum using the Arkuszewski–Kopczynski–Ponomariev (AKP) matching conditions. In 2006–2008 we performed a case study for the purpose of assessing the industrial application of the seven part Control Centre (CC) design standard ISO 11064 to identify positive and negative experiences among stakeholders in the Norwegian petroleum sector. We mainly focussed on ISO 11064 Part 1, because this was the most commonly used among the identified stakeholders. ISO 11064 is generally appreciated and applied in the industry, but we did observe a significant variance in use between the different parts of the standard. We also identified potential areas for improvements, like scope and application adaptation. Thus we suggest a more goal-based approach based on one normative part only.  相似文献

There is a drastic rise and evolution of Software and Systems Product Lines (SSPL) as a potential solution to deliver quality software products in a shorter time and with less effort. This has led to a plethora of diversified tools across the entire life cycle of SSPL, making it difficult for product line organizations to select the right set of tools for product line realization and tool vendors to develop interoperable tools. In this paper, we motivate the need for standardization of tools and methods for SSPL. The ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7 (Software and Systems Engineering) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has proposed a set of interrelated standards in the area of SSPL to cater to the emerging demands of software and systems industry. We present the foundation of SSPL family of standards that are driven by market needs and discuss the core patterns and processes of SSPL. We then present an overview of ISO/IEC 26550, which is the reference model for SSPL family of standards and provide examples from current and ongoing standards. We highlight a few examples of industry adoption of SSPL and standards and emphasize the need for further research for standards in SSPL. We see this paper as a first step to bring standards knowledge into the academic world in the field of SSPL.  相似文献

In this paper, we describe Swoop, a hypermedia inspired Ontology Browser and Editor based on OWL, the recently standardized Web-oriented ontology language. After discussing the design rationale and architecture of Swoop, we focus mainly on its features, using illustrative examples to highlight its use. We demonstrate that with its Web-metaphor, adherence to OWL recommendations and key unique features, such as Collaborative Annotation using Annotea, Swoop acts as a useful and efficient Web Ontology development tool. We conclude with a list of future plans for Swoop, that should further increase its overall appeal and accessibility.  相似文献

In this paper, we present LinkingPark, an automatic semantic annotation system for tabular data to knowledge graph matching. LinkingPark is designed as a modular framework which can handle Cell-Entity Annotation (CEA), Column-Type Annotation (CTA), and Columns-Property Annotation (CPA) altogether. It is built upon our previous SemTab 2020 system, which won the 2nd prize among 28 different teams after four rounds of evaluations. Moreover, the system is unsupervised, stand-alone, and flexible for multilingual support. Its backend offers an efficient RESTful API for programmatic access, as well as an Excel Add-in for ease of use. Users can interact with LinkingPark in near real-time, further demonstrating its efficiency.  相似文献

Design and validation of structures against blast loads are important for modern society in order to protect and secure its citizen. Since it is a challenge to validate and optimise protective structures against blast loads using full-scale experimental tests, we have to turn our attention towards advanced numerical tools like the finite element method. Several different finite element techniques can be used to describe the response of structures due to blast loads. Some of these are: (1) a pure Lagrangian formulation, (2) an initial Eulerian simulation (to determine the load) followed by a Lagrangian simulation (for the structural response) and (3) a hybrid technique that combines the advantages of Eulerian and Lagrangian methods to have a full coupling between the blast waves and the deformation of the structure. Ideally, all blast simulations should be carried out using the fully coupled Eulerian–Lagrangian approach, but this may not be practical as the computational time increases considerably when going from a pure Lagrangian to a fully coupled Eulerian–Lagrangian simulation. A major goal in this study is to investigate if a pure Lagrangian formulation can be applied to determine the structural response in a specified blast load problem or if more advanced approaches such as the fully coupled Eulerian–Lagrangian approach is required for reliable results. This is done by conducting numerical simulations of an unprotected 20 ft ISO container exposed to a blast load of 4000 kg TNT at 120 m standoff distance using the three different approaches presented above. To validate and discuss the results, the simulated response of the container is compared to available data from a full-scale blast test under such conditions.  相似文献

Abstract

Considering the many emerging markets in East Asia, access to contemporary anthropometric data for this region is important for designers and manufacturers seeking to produce the best fitting products and living environments for consumers. The purpose of this paper is to describe Korean anthropometric data collection and survey techniques for those who are interested in ethnic characteristics, conducting surveys, and formulating ergonomic product designs for South Korean and, more broadly, East Asian populations. The Size Korea survey was conducted in 2003–2004 and 2010. A total of 14,200 civilians aged 0–90 years participated in the survey, with 119 body and weight dimensions measured in 2004. Twenty new dimensions from Inbody measurement were added in 2010 and the data were continuously updated. We referred to ISO 7250, 8559 and 15535 to ensure validity and reliability. Fifty major body dimensions, including weight, are summarised in this paper, and 34 of these dimensions can be compared with 11 multinational data already reported in other publications.

Practitioner Summary: This paper presents the up-to-date anthropometric database of East Asian physical characteristics and survey methodology. These data satisfy the ISO standards and comprise 50 physical dimensions including weight. Thirty-four dimensions of these can be directly compared with available multinational data.  相似文献

We discuss the Dempster–Shafer belief theory and describe its role in representing imprecise probabilistic information. In particular, we note its use of intervals for representing imprecise probabilities. We note in fuzzy set theory that there are two related approaches used for representing imprecise membership grades: interval-valued fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets. We indicate the first of these, interval-valued fuzzy sets, is in the same spirit as Dempster–Shafer representation, both use intervals. Using a relationship analogous to the type of relationship that exists between interval-valued fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets, we obtain from the interval-valued view of the Dempster–Shafer model an intuitionistic view of the Dempster–Shafer model. Central to this view is the use of an intuitionistic statement, pair of values, (Bel(A) Dis(A)), to convey information about the value of a variable lying in the set A. We suggest methods for combining intuitionistic statements and making inferences from these type propositions.  相似文献

The English-language Princeton WordNet (PWN) and some wordnets for other languages have been extensively used as lexical–semantic knowledge sources in language technology applications, due to their free availability and their size. The ubiquitousness of PWN-type wordnets tends to overshadow the fact that they represent one out of many possible choices for structuring a lexical–semantic resource, and it could be enlightening to look at a differently structured resource both from the point of view of theoretical–methodological considerations and from the point of view of practical text processing requirements. The resource described here—SALDO—is such a lexical–semantic resource, intended primarily for use in language technology applications, and offering an alternative organization to PWN-style wordnets. We present our work on SALDO, compare it with PWN, and discuss some implications of the differences. We also describe an integrated infrastructure for computational lexical resources where SALDO forms the central component.  相似文献

Many Web portals allow users to associate additional information with existing multimedia resources such as images, audio, and video. However, these portals are usually closed systems and user-generated annotations are almost always kept locked up and remain inaccessible to the Web of Data. We believe that an important step to take is the integration of multimedia annotations and the Linked Data principles. We present the current state of the Open Annotation Model, explain our design rationale, and describe how the model can represent user annotations on multimedia Web resources. Applying this model in Web portals and devices, which support user annotations, should allow clients to easily publish and consume, thus exchange annotations on multimedia Web resources via common Web standards.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new compact fourth-order accurate method for solving the two-dimensional fourth-order elliptic boundary value problem with third-order nonlinear derivative terms. We use only 9-point single computational cell in the scheme. The proposed method is then employed to solve Navier–Stokes equations of motion in terms of streamfunction–velocity formulation, and the lid-driven square cavity problem. We describe the derivation of the method in details and also discuss how our streamfunction–velocity formulation is able to handle boundary conditions in terms of normal derivatives. Numerical results show that the proposed method enables us to obtain oscillation-free high accuracy solution.  相似文献

We consider the (3+1)-dimensional Boiti–Leon–Manna–Pempinelli equation, which can be used to describe the incompressible fluid. We derive the Hirota bilinear form of the equation via the Bell polynomial. By using Hirota’s direct method, we obtain the N-soliton wave solutions of the equation. Based on the resulting Hirota’s bilinear equation, we directly derive the breather wave solutions and rational solutions of the equation. Moreover, we employ the long wave limit method to derive the first-order and second-order rational solutions. In order to better understand the dynamical behaviors of the equation, we provide some graphical analyses to discuss the properties for the dynamic behaviors of these solutions.  相似文献

This paper describes ontology-based annotation of mammography and a Case-based Retrieval approach for breast masses from digital mammography archive. We first present our Mammography Annotation Ontology focusing on its main concepts and relationships, as well as the annotation tool. Then, we propose a model for similarity calculation between breast masses based on their high, mid and low-level features. We use Semantic Query-enhanced Web Rule Language (SQWRL) to process retrieval of similar masses from annotated mammography collection in OWL. In the past years, both industrial and research communities in Software Engineering have shown special interest in Software Process Improvement—SPI. This is evidenced by the growing number of publications on the topic. The literature offers numerous quality frameworks for addressing SPI practices, which may be classified into two groups: ones that describe “what” should be done (ISO 9001, CMMI) and ones that describe “how” it should be done (Six Sigma, Goal Question Metrics-GQM). When organizations decide to adopt improvement initiatives, many models may be implied, each leveraging the best practices provided, in the quest to address the improvement challenges as well as possible. This may at the same time, however, generate confusion and overlapping activities, as well as extra effort and cost. That, in turn, risks generating a series of inefficiencies and redundancies that end up leading to losses rather than to effective process improvement. Consequently, it is important to move toward a harmonization of quality frameworks, aiming to identify intersections and overlapping parts, as well as to create a multi-model improvement solution. Our aim in this work is twofold: first of all, we propose a theoretical harmonization process that supports organizations interested in introducing quality management and software development practices or concerned about improving those they already have. This is done with specific reference to CMMI-DEV and ISO 9001 models in the direction “ISO to CMMI-DEV”, showing how GQM is used to define operational goals that address ISO 9001 statements, reusable in CMMI appraisals. Secondly, we apply the theoretical comparison process to a real case, i.e., a Small Enterprise certified ISO 9001.  相似文献
