Dislocations and the elastic fields they induce in anisotropic elastic crystals are basic for understanding and modeling the mechanical properties of crystalline solids. Unlike previous solutions that provide the strain and/or stress fields induced by dislocation loops, in this paper, we develop, for the first time, an approach to solve the more fundamental problem—the anisotropic elastic dislocation displacement field. By applying the point-force Green’s function for a three-dimensional anisotropic elastic material, the elastic displacement induced by a dislocation of polygonal shape is derived in terms of a simple line integral. It is shown that the singularities in the integrand of this integral are all removable. The proposed expression is applied to calculate the elastic displacements of dislocations of two different fundamental shapes, i.e. triangular and hexagonal. The results show that the displacement jump across the dislocation loop surface exactly equals the assigned Burgers vector, demonstrating that the proposed approach is accurate. The dislocation-induced displacement contours are also presented, which could be used as benchmarks for future numerical studies.  相似文献

This paper presents an exact closed-form solution for the Eshelby problem of polygonal inclusion in anisotropic piezoelectric full- and half-planes. Based on the equivalent body-force concept of eigenstrain, the induced elastic and piezoelectric fields are first expressed in terms of line integral on the boundary of the inclusion with the integrand being the Green's function. Using the recently derived exact closed-form line-source Green's function, the line integral is then carried out analytically, with the final expression involving only elementary functions. The exact closed-form solution is applied to a square-shaped quantum wire within semiconductor GaAs full- and half-planes, with results clearly showing the importance of material orientation and piezoelectric coupling. While the elastic and piezoelectric fields within the square-shaped quantum wire could serve as benchmarks to other numerical methods, the exact closed-form solution should be useful to the analysis of nanoscale quantum-wire structures where large strain and electric fields could be induced by the misfit strain.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of a subinterface crack in an anisotropic piezoelectric bimaterial is analyzed. A system of singular integral equations is formulated for general anisotropic piezoelectric bimaterial with kernel functions expressed in complex form. For commonly used transversely isotropic piezoelectric materials, the kernel functions are given in real forms. By considering special properties of one of the bimaterial, various real kernel functions for half-plane problems with mechanical traction-free or displacement-fixed boundary conditions combined with different electric boundary conditions are obtained. Investigations of half-plane piezoelectric solids show that, particularly for the mechanical traction-free problem, the evaluations of the mechanical stress intensity factors (electric displacement intensity factor) under mechanical loadings (electric displacement loading) for coupled mechanical and electric problems may be evaluated directly by considering the corresponding decoupled elastic (electric) problem irrespective of what electric boundary condition is applied on the boundary. However, for the piezoelectric bimaterial problem, purely elastic bimaterial analysis or purely electric bimaterial analysis is inadequate for the determination of the generalized stress intensity factors. Instead, both elastic and electric properties of the bimaterial’s constants should be simultaneously taken into account for better accuracy of the generalized stress intensity factors.  相似文献

By applying semi-analytical point-force Green's functions obtained via the Stroh formulism, we derive simple line integrals to calculate the elastic displacement and stress fields for a three-dimensional dislocation loop in an anisotropic bimaterial system. The solutions for the case of anisotropy are more convenient for treating an arbitrary dislocation loop compared with traditional area integration. With this new formulation, we numerically examine the displacement, stress, and energy due to the interaction between a dislocation loop and the bimaterial interface in an Al–Cu system. The interactive image energy due to the elastic moduli mismatch across the interface is then numerically evaluated. The result shows that a dislocation loop is subjected to an attractive force by the interface when it lies in the stiff material, and a repulsive force when it lies in the soft material. Moreover, the dependence of the interactive image energy of a dislocation loop on the position and size of the dislocation loop are also demonstrated and discussed. Significantly, it is found that the interactive image energy for a dislocation loop depends only on the ratio d/a, where a is the loop diameter and d is its distance to the interface. The examples studied provide benchmark solutions for anisotropic bimaterial dislocation problems.  相似文献

The electro-elastic interaction between a piezoelectric screw dislocation located either outside or inside inhomogeneity and circular interfacial rigid lines under anti-plane mechanical and in-plane electrical loads in linear piezoelectric materials is dealt with in the framework of linear elastic theory. Using Riemann–Schwarz’s symmetry principle integrated with the analysis of singularity of complex functions, the general solution of this problem is presented in this paper. For a special example, the closed form solutions for electro-elastic fields in matrix and inhomogeneity regions are derived explicitly when interface containing single rigid line. Applying perturbation technique, perturbation stress and electric displacement fields are obtained. The image force acting on piezoelectric screw dislocation is calculated by using the generalized Peach–Koehler formula. As a result, numerical analysis and discussion show that soft inhomogeneity can repel screw dislocation in piezoelectric material due to their intrinsic electro-mechanical coupling behavior and the influence of interfacial rigid line upon the image force is profound. When the radian of circular rigid line reaches extensive magnitude, the presence of interfacial rigid line can change the interaction mechanism.  相似文献

An electro-elastic analysis is performed on an icosahedral quasicrystal with piezoelectric effects containing a straight dislocation. The closed-form expressions for the elastic and electric fields are obtained using the extended Stroh formalism. The effects of piezoelectric constant on the phonon displacement, phason displacement, and electric potential are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The interaction of a screw dislocation with an interfacial edge crack in a two-phase piezoelectric medium is investigated. Closed-form solutions of the elastic and electrical fields induced by the screw dislocation are derived using the conformal mapping method in conjunction with the image principle. Based on the electroelastic fields derived, the stress and electric displacement intensity factors, the image force acting on the dislocation are given explicitly. We find that the stress and electric displacement intensity factors depend on the effective electroelastic material constants. In the case where one of two phases is purely elastic, the stress intensity factor and image force are plotted to illustrate the influences of electromechanical coupling effect, the position of the dislocation and the material properties on the interaction mechanism. There are large classes of materials problems that involve the solutions of stress, displacement, and strain energy of dislocation loops in elastically anisotropic solids, including increasingly detailed investigations of the generation and evolution of irradiation induced defect clusters ranging in sizes from the micro- to meso-scopic length scales. Based on a two-dimensional Fourier transform and Stroh formalism that are ideal for homogeneous and layered anisotropic solids, we have developed robust and computationally efficient methods to calculate the displacement fields for circular and polygonal dislocation loops. Using the homogeneous nature of the Green tensor of order −1, we have shown that the displacement and stress fields of dislocation loops can be obtained by numerical quadrature of a line integral. In addition, it is shown that the sextuple integrals associated with the strain energy of loops can be represented by the product of a pre-factor containing elastic anisotropy effects and a universal term that is singular and equal to that for elastic isotropic case. Furthermore, we have found that the self-energy pre-factor of prismatic loops is identical to the effective modulus of normal contact, and the pre-factor of shear loops differs from the effective indentation modulus in shear by only a few percent. These results provide a convenient method for examining dislocation reaction energetic and efficient procedures for numerical computation of local displacements and stresses of dislocation loops, both of which play integral roles in quantitative defect analyses within combined experimental–theoretical investigations.  相似文献

The article presents an analytical solution for magneto–thermo–electro–elastic problems of a piezoelectric hollow cylinder placed in an axial magnetic field subjected to arbitrary thermal shock, mechanical load and transient electric excitation. Using an interpolation method solves the Volterra integral equation of the second kind caused by interaction among magnetic, thermal, electric and mechanical fields, the electric displacement is determined. Thus, the exact expressions for the transient responses of displacement, stresses, electric displacement, electric potential and perturbation of the magnetic field vector in the piezoelectric hollow cylinder are obtained by means of Hankel transforms, Laplace transforms, and inverse Laplace transforms. From sample numerical calculations, it is seen that the present method is suitable for a piezoelectric hollow cylinder subjected to arbitrary thermal shock, mechanical load and transient electric excitation, and the result carried out may be used as a reference to solve other transient coupled problems of magneto–thermo–electro–elasticity.  相似文献

The paper presents an analytical method to solve thermo-electro-elastic transient response in piezoelectric hollow structures subjected to arbitrary thermal shock, sudden mechanical load and electric excitation. Volterra integral equation of the second kind caused by interaction between elastic deformation and electric field is solved by using an interpolation method. Thus, the exact expressions for the transient responses of displacement, stresses, electric displacement and electric potential in the piezoelectric hollow structures are obtained by means of Hankel transform, Laplace transform, and their inverse transforms. In Section 2, based on spherical coordinates, the governing equation of thermo-electro-elastic transient responses in a piezoelectric hollow sphere is found and the associated numerical results are carried out. In Section 3, based on cylindrical coordinates, the governing equation of thermo-electro-elastic transient responses in a non-homogeneous piezoelectric hollow cylinder is found and the corresponding numerical results are carried out. The results carried out may be used as a reference to solve other transient coupled problems of thermo-electro-elasticity in piezoelectric structures.  相似文献

Analytical solutions are derived for the cylindrical bending of multilayered, linear, and anisotropic magneto-electro-elastic plates under simple-supported edge conditions. We construct the general solution in terms of a simple formalism for any homogeneous layer, from which any physical quantities can be solved for the given boundary conditions. For multilayered plates, we derive the solution in terms of the propagator matrices. A special feature of cylindrical bending, which distinguishes itself from the three-dimensional plate problem, is that the associated eigenvalues for any homogeneous layer are independent of the sinusoidal mode, and thus need to be solved only once. Typical numerical examples are also presented for a piezomagnetic plate, a two-layered piezoelectric/piezomagnetic plate, and a four layered piezoelectric/piezomagnetic plate, with different span-to-thickness ratios. In particular, the piezoelectric and piezomagnetic fields show certain interesting features, which give guidance on the development of piezoelectric/piezomagnetic thin-plate theories. Furthermore, it is shown that the variations of the elastic, electric, and magnetic quantities with thickness depend strongly upon the material property and layering, which could be useful in the analysis and design of smart composite structures with sensors/actuators.  相似文献

The electro-elastic stress investigation on the interaction between a screw dislocation and a half-plane trimaterial composite composed of three bonded dissimilar transversely isotropic piezoelectric materials is analyzed in the framework of linear piezoelectricity. Each layer is assumed to have the same material orientation with x 3 in the poling direction. The dislocations are characterized by a discontinuous displacement and electric potential across the slip plane and are subjected to a line force and a line charge at the core. Based on the complex variable and the method of alternating technique, the solution of electric field and displacement field is expressed in terms of explicit series form. The solutions derived here can be applied to a variety of problems, for example, a half-plane bimaterial, a quarter-plane bimaterial, a quarter-plane material and a rectangular strip etc. Numerical results are provided to show the influences of the material combinations and geometric configurations on the electro-elastic fields and image force calculated through the generalized Peach-Koehler formula. The solutions proposed here can be served as Green??s functions for the analyses corresponding piezoelectric cracking problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we derive the analytical solutions in a three-dimensional anisotropic magnetoelectroelastic bimaterial space subject to uniform extended dislocations and tractions within a horizontal circular area. By virtue of the Stroh formalism and Fourier transformation, the final expression of solutions in the physical domain contains only line integrals over [0,2π] rather than infinite integrals. As the reduced cases, the half-space and homogeneous full-space solutions can be directly derived from the present solutions. Also, in terms of material domains, the present solutions can be reduced to the piezoelectric, piezomagnetic, purely elastic materials with different symmetries of material property. To carry out numerical calculations, Gauss quadrature is adopted. In the numerical examples, the effect of different loading locations on the response at the interface is analyzed. It is shown that, when the magnetic traction or electric dislocation is applied, the physical quantities on the interface may not decrease monotonically as the loading area moves away from the interface. The distributions of different in-plane physical quantities on the upper and lower interfaces under various extended horizontal loadings are compared and the differences are discussed. The work presented in this paper can serve as benchmarks for future numerical studies in related research fields.  相似文献

The interaction between a screw dislocation and a semi-infinite interfacial crack in a transversely isotropic magneto-electro-elastic bi-material is investigated. The dislocation line is perpendicular to the isotropic basal plane of the bi-material. The elastic and electromagnetic fields induced by the dislocation are obtained through the use of the complex variable method together with the superposition scheme. The stress, electric displacement and magnetic intensity factors as well as the image exerted on the dislocation are given explicitly. We find that the intensity factors are expressed in terms of the so-called effective materials and the radial component of the image force is only dependent on the elastic modulus of the material with the dislocation. As an illustrative example, the bi-material that consists of piezoelectric and piezomagnetic phases is analyzed.  相似文献

In this paper, a numerical analysis of impact interfacial fracture for a piezoelectric bimaterial is provided. Starting from the basic equilibrium equation, a dynamic electro-mechanical FEM formulation is briefly presented. Then, the path-independent separated dynamic J integral is extended to piezoelectric bimaterials. Based on the relationship of the path-independent dynamic J integral and the stress and electric displacement intensity factors, the component separation method is used to calculate the stress and electric displacement intensity factors for piezoelectric bimaterials in this finite-element analysis. The response curves of the dynamic J integral, the stress and electric displacement intensity factors are obtained for both homogeneous material (PZT-4 and CdSe) and CdSe/PZT-4 bimaterial. The influences of the piezoelectricity and the electro-mechanical coupling factor on these responses are discussed. The effects of an applied electric field are also discussed.  相似文献

The complex variable method is employed to derive analytical solutions for the interaction between a piezoelectric screw dislocation and a Kelvin-type viscoelastic piezoelectric bimaterial interface. Through analytical continuation, the original boundary value problem can be reduced to an inhomogeneous first-order partial differential equation for a single function of location z = x + iy and time t defined in the lower half-plane, which is free of the screw dislocation. Once the initial, steady-state and far-field conditions are known, the solution to the first order differential equation can be obtained. From the solved function, explicit expressions are then derived for the stresses, strains, electric fields and electric displacements induced by the piezoelectric screw dislocation. Also presented is the image force acting on the screw dislocation due to its interaction with the Kelvin-type viscoelastic interface. The derived solutions are verified by comparing with existing solutions for the simplified cases, and various interesting features are observed, particularly for those associated with the image force.  相似文献
