Two novel dual‐band microstrip bandpass filters (BPFs) with multiple transmission zeros are proposed in this article. The dual‐band BPFs with second‐order bandpass responses are due to two λ/4 stepped‐impedance resonators (SIRs). Two passbands (center frequency ratio f s/f0 is 2.36) are realized based on the asymmetric SIRs. The transmission zeros near the passbands can be adjusted conveniently using the stopband transmission characteristic of the open/shorted coupled lines. Two planar microstrip dual‐band BPFs (ε r = 2.65, h = 0.5 mm) with four and six transmission zeros are designed and fabricated. High selectivity and good in‐band performances can be achieved in the proposed filters.  相似文献

This article proposes a microstrip dual‐band bandpass filter that uses parallel‐connected open‐loop ring resonators. Compared to many microstrip dual‐band filters, the advantages of using microstrip open‐loop ring resonators are easy calculation (half‐guided‐wavelength), easy fabrication (equal width for all 50‐Ω lines and without grounding holes), and direct connection to external feed lines (reducing insertion loss caused by gap couplings). Another advantage of the filter is an asymmetrical feed on the ring resonator that provides sharp rejections at its adjacent bands. The input and output matches of resonators to the external feed lines are derived using a simple transmission‐line theory. The results of the derivation provide a simple design rule for filter designers. Simulated and measured results are presented with good agreement. The filter has minimum insertion loss of 1.25 dB at 1.85 GHz and 1.6 dB at 2.33 GHz. The 3‐dB fractional bandwidths are 5.9% for the 1.9‐GHz bandpass filter and 4.7% for the 2.4‐GHz bandpass filter, respectively. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article presents an iterative design technique to calculate the optimal position of transmission zeros in dual‐bandpass filters. In the proposed design technique, the characteristic function of the filter is linearized around the displacement of the transmission zeros. A linear system is then obtained and solved in combination with a damping technique used to guarantee the convergence. Design examples which demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method are presented and an experimental verification at 4 GHz using open‐loop resonators validates the methodology. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A miniaturized dual‐band CPW‐fed Metamaterial antenna with modified split ring resonator (SRR) loading has been presented in this paper. Proposed antenna comprises a tapered rectangular patch with a slot in which an elliptically SRR has been loaded to achieve miniaturization. Proposed antenna shows dual band operations in the operating band 3.25‐3.42 and 3.83‐6.63 GHz, respectively. It has been observed that lower mode (at 3.36 GHz) is originated by means of modified SRR. SRR is being modified by small meandered line inductor which is placed instead of strip. This provides an extra inductance to SRR resulting miniaturization. Overall electrical size of the proposed antenna is 0.222 × 0.277 × 0.017 λ0 at 3.36 GHz. Second band is due to coupling between feed and ground planes. The antenna offers an average peak gain of 1.72 and 3.41 dB throughout the first and second band respectively. In addition to that this antenna exhibits perfect omnidirectional and dipolar radiation patterns at xz‐ and yz‐ plane respectively. Due to consistent radiation pattern, ease of fabrication, and compact nature this antenna can be used for wireless applications such as worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band, WLAN/Wi‐Fi bands.  相似文献

A balanced dual‐band bandpass filter (BPF) with independently tunable differential‐mode (DM) frequencies is proposed in this letter. The proposed BPF is composed of complementary split‐ring resonators (CSRRs) etched on the ground and varactors loaded on the resonators. A balanced stepped‐impedance microstrip‐slotline transition structure is introduced to transfer the DM signals successfully and block the common‐mode (CM) signals transmission. Good DM transmission and CM suppression can be achieved. Moreover, by changing the reverse bias voltages of the varactors loaded on coupling CSRRs, two DM resonant frequencies of the proposed balanced BPF can be tuned independently. To verify the feasibility of the design method, a balanced BPF with DM frequency ranging from 0.80 GHz to 1.12 GHz and 1.55 GHz to 2.05 GHz is fabricated and measured. Good agreement between the simulation and measurement results demonstrate the validity of the design.  相似文献

In this article, a quadruple‐mode stub‐loaded resonator (QM‐SLR) is introduced and its four modes are excited using a simple approach, which can provide a dual‐band behavior. By changing the length of the loaded stubs, independently tunable transmission characteristics of the proposed quadruple‐mode stub‐loaded resonator were extensively described for filter design. Moreover, microwave varactors were adopted to represent the length variation of the loaded stubs for the dual‐band tunability. The equivalent circuit modeling of the open stub with microwave varactor was given and discussed. Then, adopting the compact quadruple‐mode stub‐loaded resonator with three varactors, an independently controllable dual‐band bandpass filter (BPF) was designed, analyzed, and fabricated. Its separated bandwidths and transmission zeros can be tuned independently by changing the applying voltage of the microwave varactors. A good agreement between simulated and measured results verified the design methodology. The proposed filter possesses compact size, simple structure, and excellent dual‐band performances. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 26:602–608, 2016.  相似文献

In this article, we present a dual‐band linear‐to‐circular transparent converter by bi‐layered chiral metamaterial (CMM) with an inverted “G” array in microwave region. The proposed metasurface consists of three layers which are the upper layer of the metasurface with a periodic regular metallic inverted “G” and wire array, the dielectric layer, and the bottom layer operating as chiral symmetric structure of the upper. The simulation results show that the transmitted right‐circular polarized wave with the axial ratio of 3 dB or less is in the range of 8.6‐10.9 GHz and the left‐circular polarized wave is within 18.1‐22.5 GHz when y‐polarized forward wave is normally incident. Specifically, the polarization conversion transmission can be maintained at over 85% at angle of incidence up to 40°. Therefore, the proposed CMM device is useful for the development of the integrated polarization manipulation devices.  相似文献

This article presents a computer aided technique to synthesize the filtering function for dual‐band microwave filters with complex source and load impedances. Based on the exchange‐Remez algorithm and the power wave renormalization theory, the characteristic function is first obtained with assigned ripple level at the first passband. Two additional transmission zeros are then optimally allocated to control the ripple level at the second passband. By directly modifying the coupling matrix elements in the first and last stages, a simplified method is also presented when the loading impedance is frequency‐independent. Three synthesized examples with both controlled in‐band and out‐of‐band responses are presented. Finally, LC multi‐coupled circuits are also provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

This article presents two novel resonators, that is, frequency selecting coupling structure loaded stepped‐impedance resonator (FSCSLSIR) and π‐section loaded FSCSLSIR. The resonator behaviors and guidelines are given to design FSCSLSIR dual‐band bandpass filter (BPF) and π‐section loaded FSCSLSIR triband BPF. The proposed dual‐ and triband BPF have very compact sizes of 0.13 λgd × 0.06 λgd and 0.115 λgt × 0.074 λgt, respectively. Moreover, good return loss, low insertion loss, and high band‐to‐band isolation can be observed, and the proposed FSCSLSIR dual‐band BPF has an ultrawide stopband from 5.79 to 36 GHz. The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulations. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 25:427–435, 2015.  相似文献

This article presents the design and implementation of a new asymmetric dual‐band bandstop filter using TE01δ mode dielectric resonator (DR) technology. The coupling matrix is generated by frequency transformation technique applied to advance filtering functions for direct‐coupled asymmetric dual‐band bandstop filter in cul‐de‐sac configuration. The proposed approach provides control of all the major parameters such as center frequencies, intercavity couplings, and input/output couplings of filter independently in both the designated bands. The dual‐band DR filters (2 × 2) pole, with return loss = 15 dB and percentage rejection bandwidth of 1.6 and 0.6% in two bands, at 9.96 and 10.15 GHz, respectively, are designed, built, and tested. The measured and simulated results are in good agreement over the desired band. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 25:282–288, 2015.  相似文献

This article presents a novel bandpass filter (BPF) using two proximity‐coupled dual‐behavior resonators (DBRs). The employed DBR is implemented by a single shunt stub with the compact microstrip resonator cell at its open end instead of the traditional dual stubs in cross‐shape. Due to the adoptions of the proposed DBR and proximity‐coupling scheme, both the transverse and longitudinal dimensions of the proposed BPF are reduced significantly. To verify the proposed idea, a demonstration microstrip BPF is designed and fabricated, and good agreement between the simulated and measured results can be observed, showing low loss and high selectivity due to four transmission zeroes in the stopband.  相似文献

A balanced second‐order dual‐band bandpass filter (BPF) with independently controllable center frequencies and bandwidths based on coupled stepped‐impedance resonators (SIRs) is designed in this article. To obtain a dual‐band differential‐mode (DM) response, two pairs of SIRs with different resonant frequencies are employed in the design. The bandwidths of the two DM passbands can be independently tuned by adjusting the coupling gaps and coupling lengths of the corresponding resonators. In addition, three transmission zeros are realized to enhance the selectivity of the DM passbands. The microstrip‐slotline transition structure is utilized to achieve a wideband common‐mode (CM) suppression. Moreover, the DM responses are independent of the CM ones, which significantly simplify the design procedure. Finally, a balanced dual‐band BPF is designed to validate the design method and a good agreement between the simulated and measured results is observed.  相似文献

In this article, interdigital capacitor loaded co‐directional split ring resonators (CDSRRs) and their dual‐band bandpass filter applications are proposed. The proposed resonator is formed by nested open loop resonators having open ends at the same place unlike conventional split ring resonators (SRRs). In addition, the inner open loop resonator has interdigital capacitor located between the open ends. The proposed resonator exhibits dual resonance behavior with a small center frequency ratio. Both of resonance frequencies can be controlled due to the changes in the interdigital capacitor and the electrical length of the outer resonator. A dual‐band microstrip bandpass filter is designed by using the proposed CDSRR. Two CDSRRs are used to obtain two poles in each passband. Overall electrical length of the designed filter is 0.23 λg × 0.14 λg (0.0329 λg2), where λg is the guided wavelength for the used substrate at the lowest passband center frequency of 1.8 GHz. A small center frequency is obtained by adjusting the second passband at 2.27 GHz. A very wide upper stopband, closely spaced passbands, low insertion losses and high selectivity at both passbands can be obtained by means of the proposed structure. The designed filter was also fabricated and tested. The measured results show a very good agreement with the predicted results.  相似文献

In this article, a novel dual‐band differential bandpass filter using (SIRs) is designed. To demonstrate the design ideas, the differential and common mode equivalent half circuits are built and studied. Two resistors are connected between the two ends of the SIRs to consume the power in common mode. A capacitor is connected between the Ground and Center of the SIR to adjust the spurious frequencies, also strength the coupling of the two SIRs. The theoretical analysis shows the second band can be obtained by the proper impedance ratios of the resonances and the capacitor connected to the resonator. Two through ground vias (TGVs) connecting the top and bottom sides of the SIR filter, are used to realize the common mode rejection. To investigate the proposed filter in detail, a set of design equations are derived based on the circuit theory and transmission line theory. A phototype dual‐band differential filter operating at 1.5 and 2.75 GHz has been realized to validate the proposed concept and theory. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A design technique to improve the spurious resonance behavior of dual‐band bandstop filters is presented. A compact dual‐band bandstop filter with two stop bands that can be controlled independently with improved passband frequency response is designed. The operational bandwidth of the proposed compact dual‐band bandstop filter is increased by pushing the first spurious resonance from being about twice the resonance frequency to more than three times the resonance frequency. Stepped impedance open loop resonators with substantially increased outer‐edge width are used to improve the spurious resonance response. Both simulation and measured results are presented and good agreement is obtained between the results. The fabricated filter exhibits dual operating frequencies at 1460 MHz and 2640 MHz with 5.5% and 5% stopband fractional bandwidths, respectively. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A compact, ultrathin conformal metamaterial dual‐band absorber for curved surfaces has been presented in this article. The absorber unit cell composed of circular and split ring resonators which are connected with plus‐shaped structure. The proposed absorber unit cell is compact in size (0.22λo × 0.22λo) and as well as ultrathin thickness (0.006λo), where λo is the wavelength at 5.8 GHz. The designed absorber gives two absorption tips at 5.8 and 7.7 GHz with more than 90% absorptivity. The full width at half maximum bandwidths are 220 MHz (5.67‐5.89 GHz) and 250 MHz (7.58‐7.83 GHz). The proposed conformal absorber is sensitive to the polarization angle and has a stable absorptivity over a wide range of incident electromagnetic wave. The parametric analysis and equivalent transmission line model have been investigated. The surface current and electric field distribution also discussed for understanding the absorption mechanism. To analyze the performance of proposed absorber on the curved surfaces, it is wrapped on the different radius of cylindrical surface and measured the absorptivity. Simulated and measured results have good agreement between them.  相似文献

A dual‐band (DB) Wilkinson power divider with multiple design approach is proposed in this article, which consists of two‐section transmission lines (TLs) with arbitrary length ratio, one parallel LC circuit, and one resistor. Compared with the former works with equal physical lengths, the total physical size of the two‐section TLs can be decreased effectively. For a given DB frequency ratio, the maximum size reduction can be newly summarized as (n‐1)/(2n), where n indicates the length ratio of two‐section TLs. From the close‐formed design equations, multiple solutions of circuit parameters are newly summarized for DB operation, thus circuit design could be much more flexible and more efficient. Furthermore, in order to compact the proposed circuit size, compensation technology for two coupled‐line sections is also considered in circuit fabrication. Finally, design charts and an experimental circuit show good agreement with the theoretical simulation. Compared with the former work under the same design conditions: f2/f1 = 3.2, f1 = 1 GHz and f2 = 3.2 GHz, the proposed work provides compact circuit size and the size reduction is 25% with n = 2, m = 1.  相似文献

By using short‐circuited Composite Right/Left‐Handed Transmission Lines as loading stubs, and Purely Right‐Handed Artificial Transmission Lines, a Dual‐Band Branch‐Line coupler is presented. The adoption of such technologies adds degrees of freedom with respect to other already proposed design techniques, thus allowing the development of a very compact device, and a larger flexibility in the choice of the two operating frequencies and corresponding bandwidths. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This letter presents a novel miniaturized differential dual‐band bandpass filter (BPF) using a single quad‐mode metal‐loaded dielectric resonator (DR). The differential dual‐band BPF is designed in a single‐cavity configuration with one quad‐mode DR and four feeding probes, featuring compact size. The rectangular DR is directly mounted on the bottom of the metal cavity and covered by a metal plate on the top surface. It allows two pairs of orthogonal modes (LSE10 and LSM10), which can be differentially excited and coupled by introducing proper perturbation for constructing dual‐band differential‐mode frequency response. To validate the proposed idea, a compact differential BPF with good performance using a quad‐mode DR cavity is designed, fabricated, and measured. The simulated and measured results with good agreement are presented.  相似文献

New multi‐standard wide band filters with compact sizes are designed for wireless communication devices. The proposed structures realize dual‐wideband and quad‐wideband characteristics by using a new skew‐symmetrical coupled pair of asymmetric stepped impedance resonators, combined with other structures. The first and second dual‐wideband filters realize fractional bandwidths (FBW) of 43.2%/31.9% at the central frequencies (CF) of 1.875/1.63 GHz, and second bandwidths of 580 MHz/1.75 GHz at CF of 5.52/4.46 GHz, respectively. The proposed quad‐band filter realizes its first/second/third/fourth pass bands at CF 2.13/5.25/7.685/9.31 GHz with FBW of 46.0%/11.4%/4.6% and 5.4%, respectively. The wide pass bands are attributed to the mutual coupling of the modified ASIR resonators and their bandwidths are controllable by tuning relative parameters while the wide stop band performance is optimized by the novel interdigital cross coupled line structure and parallel uncoupled microstrip line structure. Moreover, the quad band is generated by introducing the novel defected rectangle structure. These multi‐standard filters are simulated, fabricated and measured, and measured results agree well with both simulated results and theory predictions. The good in‐band and out‐of‐band performances, the miniaturized sizes and simple structures of the proposed filters make them very promising for applications in future multi‐standard wireless communication.  相似文献
