On the origin of the Hirudinea and the demise of the Oligochaeta   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10  
The phylogenetic relationships of the Clitellata were investigated with a data set of published and new complete 18S rRNA gene sequences of 51 species representing 41 families. Sequences were aligned on the basis of a secondary structure model and analysed with maximum parsimony and maximum likelihood. In contrast to the latter method, parsimony did not recover the monophyly of Clitellata. However, a close scrutiny of the data suggested a spurious attraction between some polychaetes and clitellates. As a rule, molecular trees are closely aligned with morphology-based phylogenies. Acanthobdellida and Euhirudinea were reconciled in their traditional Hirudinea clade and were included in the Oligochaeta with the Branchiobdellida via the Lumbriculidae as a possible link between the two assemblages. While the 18S gene yielded a meaningful historical signal for determining relationships within clitellates, the exact position of Hirudinea and Branchiobdellida within oligochaetes remained unresolved. The lack of phylogenetic signal is interpreted as evidence for a rapid radiation of these taxa. The placement of Clitellata within the Polychaeta remained unresolved. The biological reality of polytomies within annelids is suggested and supports the hypothesis of an extremely ancient radiation of polychaetes and emergence of clitellates.  相似文献

Patients with calcaneus fractures experience considerable interferences with daily living activities. The quality of anatomical reconstruction is important because of its influence on functional outcome. The aim of this study was to develop an automatic algorithm based on computer tomographic (CT) images to quantify the integrity of calcaneal joint surfaces. Validation of this algorithm was done by assessing intra-individual variations of characteristic joint parameters. Bilateral hind foot CT data of 12 subjects were manually segmented, and 3D models from the calcaneus, talus and cuboid were generated. These models were implemented in a custom-made software to analyse the area, 3D orientations and bone distance of the joint surfaces of the calcaneus. Three joints were detected, and the calculated parameters were compared between right and left hind foot by the evaluation of the directional asymmetry (%DA). The results were statistically analysed with a paired t-test. The median of area (5–7 %DA) of the joint surfaces and the distance between two articulating surfaces (8–9 %DA) showed the greatest intra-individual differences. Median differences in 3D orientation were comparatively low (1–2 %DA). None of these differences was statistically significant. Inter-individual variations among subjects were several magnitudes larger than intra-individual differences. The presented computational tool provides 3D joint-specific parameters of the calcaneus, which enable to describe their respective joint integrity. The results show that only small intra-individual differences within the anatomy exist. Surgical treatment should take place with the aid of CT data from the contralateral side. Thus, a good restoration of the anatomy may be reached. The computational tool assesses the quality of reduction, and may be helpful to evaluate the outcome and quality of operative treatment based on the calculated joint-specific parameters of joint reconstructions in the hind foot.  相似文献

The rapid spread of the finite element method has caused that it has become, among other methods, the standard tool for pre-clinical estimates of bone properties. This paper presents an application of this method for the calculation and prediction of strain and stress fields in the femoral head. The aim of the work is to study the influence of the considered anisotropy and heterogeneity of the modeled bone on the mechanical fields during a typical gait cycle. Three material models were tested with different properties of porous bone carried out in literature: a homogeneous isotropic model, a heterogeneous isotropic model, and a heterogeneous anisotropic model. In three cases studied, the elastic properties of the bone were determined basing on the Zysset-Curnier approach. The tensor of elastic constants defining the local properties of porous bone is correlated with a local porosity and a second order fabric tensor describing the bone microstructure. In the calculations, a model of the femoral head generated from high-resolution tomographic scans was used. Experimental data were drawn from publicly available database “Osteoporotic Virtual Physiological Human Project.” To realistically reflect the load on the femoral head, main muscles were considered, and their contraction forces were determined based on inverse kinematics. For this purpose, the results from OpenSim packet were used. The simulations demonstrated that differences between the results predicted by these material models are significant. Only the anisotropic model allowed for the plausible distribution of stresses along the main trabecular groups. The outcomes also showed that the precise evaluation of the mechanical fields is critical in the context of bone tissue remodeling under mechanical stimulations.

Summary The ovary of the liver fluke has been studied with light and electron microscopy. The organ consisted of germ cells and a layer of peripheral cells suggested to be nurse cells, and was surrounded by a capsule containing muscular tissue. The peripheral cells rested on a thick basement membrane and were irregular in outline. Their nuclei were of irregular shape, the mitochondria were dark with few cristae and the endoplasmic reticulum was tubular or vesicular and partly studded with ribosomes. The germ cells were rounded or polyhedral except in the outer part of the ovary where some of them showed irregular processes. The germ cells of the outer region (oogonia) were relatively small and in close contact with the cells suggested to be nurse cells. The inner germ cells (oocytes) were large and loosely packed. Their nuclei were irregular and contained round distinct nucleoli. The nuclear envelopes showed numerous pores. The endoplasmic reticulum was very sparse, but free ribosomes were abundant in the cytoplasm. This corresponded with a strong basophilia removable with RNase. In addition round basophilic bodies formed by densely packed ribosomes and membraneous material occurred in close spatial relation to mitochondria. The latter contained dense granules and few cristae. Groups of vesicles and membraneous lamellae were found in the cytoplasm, but they were considerably smaller than vertebrate Golgi complexes. Numerous dense spherical granules were found mainly in the periphery of the large germ cells. The granules were strongly osmiophilic except in the terminal part of the ovary. The morphology of lingual papillae of the ten male mature Saanen goats (11 months old, approximately 42 kg in weight and of a known pedigree) was examined by scanning electron microscopy. Tissues were taken from the dorsal and ventral surfaces of the apex, body and root of the tongue, and were prepared accordingly and observed under the scanning electron microscope. On the dorsal and ventro-lateral surfaces of the lingual mucosa, three types of mechanical papillae (filiform, lenticular, and conical) and two types of gustatory papillae (vallate and fungiform) were observed. The structure and density of the filiform papillae differentiated on the anterior, posterior and ventro-lateral aspects of the tongue. Two types of lenticular papillae, both possessing a prominent surrounding papillary groove, were determined. The pyramidal-shaped type I lenticular papilla had a pointed apex while the round-shaped type II lenticular papilla possessed a blunt apex. Certain number of the type I lenticular papillae had double apices. The larger conical papillae were hollow structures, differing structurally from the filiform papillae with their larger size, a tip without projections and lack of the secondary papillae. The vallate papillae were present on both rims of the torus linguae, were encircled by a prominent gustatory furrow which was also surrounded by a thick annular fold. The fungiform papillae were scattered among the filiform papillae in the anterior two-thirds of the dorsal and lateral surfaces, and each of them was highly protected by surrounding filiform papillae, yet encircled by a papillary groove. Our findings indicate that Saanen goat have profuse distribution of papillae on the tongue displaying morphological features characteristic of mechanical function.  相似文献

Properties were studied of elaboration of conditioned alimentary secretory reflexes to threshold electric stimulation of the caudate nucleus in dogs. The rate of formation of such a reflex and its magnitude were considerably lower than in reflexes elaborated to distant stimuli. Latencies were longer; dynamics of conditioned and unconditioned secretory reactions was similar to that of reflexes to a weak stimulus--light. The motor component of the conditioned alimentary reaction, as a rule, was absent. Characteristics were revealed of formation of alimentary reflexes to stimulation of the dorsal and ventral parts of the head and body of the caudate nucleus.  相似文献

The spatial arrangement of the stages of the cycle of the seminiferous epithelium of the Japanese quail was investigated by preparing three-dimensional reconstructions of a seminiferous tubule from each of 3 quails. It was found that the stages were not distributed at random, but were arranged in a wave which spiralled helically along a seminiferous tubule. Adjacent stages in space were always adjacent numbers in the cycle of the seminiferous epithelium. Complete spermatogenetic waves were found in which all 10 stages of the cycle were in sequential order. However, in most waves the sequential order of stages was disturbed by the occurrence of modulations. The area of a cellular association varied from 4600 to 41,600 microns 2 with a mean +/- s.e.m. (3 animals) of 17,902 +/- 2614 microns 2. The number of Sertoli cells involved in an association ranged from 4 to 35, with a mean +/- s.e.m. (3 animals) of 13.5 +/- 2.8. The findings support our earlier suggestion that the kinetics of spermatogenesis in the quail are fundamentally similar to the pattern which has been described for mammals.  相似文献

Cell suspensions of rat transplantable rhabdomyosarcoma RA-2 were injected to white rats. The experimentally induced lung metastases (ELM) were estimated according to the frequency of micronucleated cells (MNC) that appeared 9-20 days after injection (a. i.). The frequency of MNC in ELM decreased from 2.7% (9 days a. i.) to 0.7% (20 days a. i.). The ELM which were of the same size but were examined at different time after injection had equal frequencies of MNC. At each investigated time after injection the least frequencies of MNC were observed in the ELV of the biggest size. The data provided allow to infer that the growth time and site of ELM may influence the spontaneous karyotype instability rates.  相似文献

The observations were performed in autumn in 100 rats at the age of 1 month. The animals were trained in a horizontal treadmill with the speed 40 m/min, beginning with 3 min/day and gradually increasing the time up to 30 min. The control animals were not trained, the test animals were trained either once a day (at 7 a. m., 3 p. m., 11 p. m.), or three times a day and the total loading was equal to a single loading. The animals were weighed daily. Elongation of the bones, increase in their mass and in the body mass were different at training during different time of the day and the effect was not similar in different bones. The cell cycles of the early cleavage stages of the mouse were analyzed by examining Feulgen-stained ova. The period from ovulation to the completion of second cleavage division was investigated. The ova donors were C57BL/6 × DBA/2 female mice, which were hormonally superovulated. To estimate the durations of DNA synthesis and mitotic phases of the cleavage divisions, the ova were pooled into culture medium, and as a function of time, aliquots were removed from the batch of pooled ova. The ova specimens were Feulgen-stained and classified as the ova nuclei in G1, S, G2 or mitosis by use of a cytophotometric technique and then the durations of these phases were determined by probit analysis.
The pronuclear stage had a generation time of 11 hr, with a G1 phase of 6 hr and a short S phase of 1.7 hr. In contrast the two-cell stage had a generation time of 18 hr, with a G1 phase of 2 hr and an S phase of 3 hr. The duration of cleavage division also changed; the first cleavage division spanned 3 hr while the second spanned 1 hr.  相似文献

The studies were carried out on 100 right lungs taken from dead human bodies of both sexes whose age varied from 16 to 81 years. The pulmonary artery and the bronchus were injected with a 65% solution of duracryl and then digested in sulfuric acid. The specimens obtained were then examined to determine the number and dimensions of the branches of the basal portion of the right pulmonary artery (RPA) penetrating into the basal segments of the right lower pulmonary lobe. Their length was 52 mm at the most, and their diameter 14 mm. Three types of ramification of the basal portion of the RPA were distinguished on the basis of the trunks, segmental and subsegmental branches present. In 72% of the cases the branches penetrating into the basal segments showed a tree-like type, in 2% of the cases a bushy-like type and in 26% of the cases a middle type.  相似文献

The vessels of the tongue were studied in 120 rabbits in 5 series of experiments methods of injection, clearing, rentgenography, silver nitrate impregnation after V. V. Kuprijanov and a histological method. The animals were rotated in a centrifuge with a 1 m radius. For hypokinesia the animals were placed in small cages. Gravitation stress mainly caused changes in the capillary-venous part of the circulatory bed (dilatation of vessels). Under conditions of hypokinesia morphological changes were most pronounced in terminal portions of the arterial part of the bed, arterioles and precapillaries. Successive exposure to both factors caused no specific changes. Preliminary training to stressess failed to prevent the appearance of considerable morphological changes in blood vessels of the tongue.  相似文献

Tissue samples obtained from the lateral wall of the maxillary sinuses of five patients were examined by light microscopical, histochemical, and ultrastructural techniques. Submucosal glands were tubulo-alveolar mixed glands. The acini consisted of either all serous or all mucous cells, or a mixture of both. Serous granules were stained by toluidine blue, or by hematoxylin and eosin (H and E), but showed little or no reaction with periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) or Alcian blue. Mucous granules were pale in toluidine blue or H and E preparations, and consisted primarily of acid mucosubstances, as demonstrated by their staining reaction with PAS and Alcian blue. At the electron microscope level, the serous granules were either homogeneously dense, or showed a substructure consisting of at least two layers of distinctly different electron-opacity. Typical mucous droplets consisted of a fibrillar network dispersed in a translucent matrix. A second secretory product was present in the mucous cells in the form of elongated, membrane-bounded structures containing numerous parallel filaments, which measured about 55 Å in diameter. The mucous droplets and the filamentous bodies appear to arise from the opposite faces of the Golgi complex in the mucous cells. The filamentous bodies showed a pronounced tendency to fuse with the mucous droplets. All acini were surrounded by a well-defined myoepithelial layer and contained intercellular nerve terminals.  相似文献

The area postrema of the monkey, Macaca fascicularis, were a pair of oval organs at the caudal end of the floor of fourth ventricle. Their ependymal lining was covered by well-developed microvilli with occasional overlying supraependymal cells. Two types of lining cells were present: pyramidad- and flattened cells. The pyramidal cell showed a long extending basal process resting on the underlying blood vessels. In transmission electron microscopy, the organ showed numerous fenestrated sinusoids characterized by a distinct perivascular space containing mast cells, macrophages and collagen fibrils. The parenchyma of the organ was composed of neurons and glial elements. Only one type of neuron ranging from 9.5 to 15 microns could be distinguished. The neurons contained an indented nucleus surrounded by organelle rich cytoplasm. The soma of the neuron was enclosed by glial element resembling astrocyte. The glial processes terminated on the blood vessel where they were "tunnelled" by a variable number of nerve fibres some of which gained a direct access to the external basal lamina of the perivascular space. Synapses in the neuropil predominantly of the axodendritic variety were observed. Axon terminals containing round agranular vesicles were seen to make synaptic contacts with the neuronal soma. No structural changes were observed in the area postrema following bilateral cervical vagotomy. However, degenerating axon terminals were observed in the subpostremal zone 7, 14 and 21 days after vagotomy suggesting a direct afferent projection into this region.  相似文献

The pituitary is the master endocrine gland responsible for the regulation of various physiologic and metabolic processes. Proteomics offers an efficient means for a comprehensive analysis of pituitary protein expression. This paper reports on the application of proteomics for the mapping of major proteins in a normal (control) pituitary. Pituitary proteins were separated by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis with immobilized pH 3-10 gradient strips. Major protein spots that were visualized in the two-dimensional gel by silver staining were excised, and the proteins in these spots were digested with trypsin. The tryptic digests were analyzed by mass spectrometry, and the mass spectrometric data were used to identify the proteins through searches of the SWISS-PROT or NCBInr protein sequence databases. The majority of the proteins were identified on the basis of peptide mass fingerprinting data obtained by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Several proteins were also characterized based on product-ion spectra measured by post-source decay analysis and/or liquid chromatography-electrospray-quadrupole ion trap mass spectrometry. To date, 62 prominent protein spots, corresponding to 38 different proteins, were identified. The identified proteins include important pituitary hormones, structural proteins, enzymes, and other proteins. The protein identification data were used to establish a two-dimensional reference database of the human pituitary, which can be accessed over the Internet (http://www.utmem.edu/proteomics). This database will serve as a tool for further proteomics studies of pituitary protein expression in health and disease.  相似文献

The experiments were conducted on rabbits with chronically implanted electrodes (neocortex, hippocampus, amygdala, caudate nucleus). The rostral part of caudate nucleus was stimulated once daily at a current maximum 300 microA, using 60 Hz square pulses (1.0 Ms) 12.0 s in duration. The severity of motor seizures and its developmental velocity were studied in the relation with a degree of the epileptization of the brain. The data obtained illustrated the next relation: the more stable and intensive were discharges in hippocampus the harder motor seizures.  相似文献

目的:采用SF-36量表中文版评价农村中老年人生存质量,并为提高农村中老年人的生存质量和健康水平提供科学依据和建议。方法:采用随机抽样的方法,采用面对面访谈的形式,记分方法参照国际生存质量评价计划(IQOLA)的制定标准,评价其生理和心理健康状况。结果:1590名农村中老年人男性生存质量得分高于女性。经济水平对农村中老年人的生理健康的影响大于对其心理健康的影响。配偶健在的农村中老年人的各维度得分均高于无配偶者。农村中老年人的各维度得分随教育水平的升高呈升高趋势。结论:农村中老年人的生存质量与年龄成负相关,同时也受文化程度和经济水平等多个因素的影响。因而,对农村中老年人这一弱势群体应该给予更多关注。  相似文献

Samples for microbiological studies were taken at a high altitude using meterological rockets with specially constructed analyzers so that no extraneous microorganisms could get into them before sampling. The analyzers were sterilized by gamma-irradiation before sampling. For the first time, microscopic fungi, bacteria and mycobacteria were detected at a height of 48--77 km. Five among six of the microbial species were found to contain pigments. The prevalence of these forms at high altitudes suggests that natural selection may take place in the upper atmospheric layer since cells containing chromogenic pigments (carotenoids, melanins) are more resistant to the action of ultraviolet rays.  相似文献

This study was designed to investigate the respective damping properties of the annulus fibrosus and nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc during propagation of vibration waves through the osteoligamento-muscular axis of the spine. The study was conducted on a 8-10 kg deeply anesthetized baboon. In the first surgical phase five accelerometers were implanted in the first sacral vertebra and on the anterior side of the four lower lumbar vertebrae. The bioinstrumented animal was placed in a restraining chair and exposed to narrow-bandwidth (0-100 Hz) 0.16 G RMS random vibration. Once data was recorded, the nuclei pulposi of the studied discs were removed by suction, the surrounding annuli remaining intact. The still deeply anesthetized animal was again exposed to the same 0-100 Hz, 0.16 G RMS vibration. Results were analyzed and their reproducibility was tested on three animals.  相似文献

Physiological mechanisms of the cold paralyses of the main, most important functions during deep hypothermia of a homeothermic organism were studied. The reasons for the organism death upon deep cooling were revealed. The cold paralyses and the following organism death were shown to be accounted for to a great extent by the specific impairments in the ion exchange between the nervous cells of vegetative brain centers and the intercellular medium and the blood. Removing these impairments with the help of the methods developed in the authors laboratory allows the lost physiological functions of an organism to be restored for a time without rewarming the body.  相似文献
