In this paper we present a new modelling approach for realistic simulation of supply-chains. It is based on an object-oriented architecture, which enables flexible specification of the supply-chain configuration along with its operational decisions and policies.A model of a generic supply-chain node is developed to capture the features present in all supply-chain entities. The generic node models in detail activities such as inventory control, manufacturing processes and order handling. The supply-chain model is constructed by linking generic nodes and specifying the physical and business attributes of each supply-chain member. The generic-node model may also be linked to external software for greater accuracy, e.g., detailed production scheduling or optimisation.The model provides a fully dynamic simulation of the supply-chain and the effect of various uncertainties can be evaluated through Monte Carlo simulation and other, more efficient, sampling techniques (not described here).A case study is presented to illustrate the applicability of the model. The case study demonstrates how the effect of policy changes on the supply-chain performance under uncertainty can be evaluated before implementation.  相似文献

A key issue in supply chain optimisation involving multiple enterprises is the determination of policies that optimise the performance of the supply chain as a whole while ensuring adequate rewards for each participant.In this paper, we present a mathematical programming formulation for fair, optimised profit distribution between echelons in a general multi-enterprise supply chain. The proposed formulation is based on an approach applying the Nash bargaining solution for finding optimal multi-partner profit levels subject to given minimum echelon profit requirements.The overall problem is first formulated as a mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) model. A spatial and binary variable branch-and-bound algorithm is then applied to the above problem based on exact and approximate linearisations of the bilinear terms involved in the model, while at each node of the search tree, a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problem is solved. The solution comprises inter-firm transfer prices, production and inventory levels, flows of products between echelons, and sales profiles.The applicability of the proposed approach is demonstrated by a number of illustrative examples based on industrial processes.  相似文献

Army fuel planners are responsible for developing daily loading plans that specify which tankers to load, with what fuel, and where to send the loaded tankers. The tools used to accomplish this task are custom built spreadsheets which require large amounts of time and effort to use, update, and keep free of errors. This research presents a transient stochastic simulation–optimization model of the in-theater bulk fuel supply chain, where the simulation model is used to simulate the performance of the fuel supply chain under a particular fuel distribution policy and the optimization portion is used to update the policy so that it results in the performance desired by the Army fuel planner. The fuel distribution policy can then be used to derive the daily loading plan. Due to the multi-objective nature of the problem, the set of policies that form the efficient frontier are all candidate policies for the Army fuel planner to select from. Results of experimentation with a wide variety of supply chain scenarios indicate that, for a given supply chain scenario, the optimization portion of the model identifies a set of fuel distribution policies that address the objectives of the Army fuel planner. In addition, the simulation–optimization model comfortably solves the largest supply chain scenarios the Army fuel planner would reasonably be expected to encounter.  相似文献

This case study is concerned with analysing policies for managing the blood inventory system in a typical UK hospital supplied by a regional blood centre. The objective of the project is to improve procedures and outcomes by modelling the entire supply chain for that hospital, from donor to recipient. The supply chain of blood products is broken down into material flows and information flows. Discrete-event simulation is used to determine ordering policies leading to reductions in shortages and wastage, increased service levels, improved safety procedures and reduced costs, by employing better system coordination. In this paper we describe the model and present results for a representative medium-sized hospital. The model can be used by both the National Blood Service and by hospital managers as a decision support tool to investigate different procedures and policies.  相似文献

We study the supply chain tactical planning problem of an integrated furniture company located in the Province of Québec, Canada. The paper presents a mathematical model for tactical planning of a subset of the supply chain. The decisions concern procurement, inventory, outsourcing and demand allocation policies. The goal is to define manufacturing and logistics policies that will allow the furniture company to have a competitive level of service at minimum cost. We consider planning horizon of 1 year and the time periods are based on weeks. We assume that customer’s demand is known and dynamic over the planning horizon. Supply chain planning is formulated as a large mixed integer programming model. We developed a heuristic using a time decomposition approach in order to obtain good solutions within reasonable time limit for large size problems. Computational results of the heuristic are reported. We also present the quantitative and qualitative results of the application of the mathematical model to a real industrial case.  相似文献

This paper reviews and compares existing approaches for supply chain modeling and simulation and applies the mesoscopic modeling and simulation approach using the simulation software MesoSim, an own development. A simplified real-world supply chain example is modeled with discrete event, mesoscopic and system dynamics simulation. The objective of the study is to compare the process of model creation and its validity using each approach. The study examines advantages of the mesoscopic approach for the simulation. Major benefits of the mesoscopic approach are that modeling efforts are balanced with the necessary level of detail and facilitate quick and simple model creation and simulation.  相似文献

The bullwhip effect in particular, and supply chain volatility in general, has been the subject of much analytical and empirical investigation by researchers. One goal of this work has been to determine supply chain designs and policies that minimize volatility. Using a system dynamics approach, we use three distinct supply chain volatility metrics to compare the ability of two alternative pipeline inventory management policies to respond to a demand shock. The results indicate that no one policy dominates on all three metrics of supply chain volatility. A simplistic static pipeline policy minimizes the bullwhip effect and lessens the likelihood of on-hand inventory oscillations, while a more sophisticated dynamic pipeline policy may converge more rapidly to the new equilibrium. In addition, simulation results suggest that the dynamic policy provides better customer service through fewer stockouts and backorders.  相似文献

A computer assisted modelling methodology is developed for the generation of linearized models with parametric uncertainties described by Linear Fractional Transformations (LFTs). The starting point of the uncertainty modelling is a class of generic nonlinear aircraft models with explicit parametric dependence used for simulation purposes. The proposed methodology integrates specialized software tools for object-oriented modelling, for simulation, and for numerical as well as symbolic computations. Devising manufacturing/distribution strategies for supply chains and determining their parameter values have been challenging problems. Linking production management to stock keeping processes improves the planning of the supply chain activities, including material management, culminating in improved customer service levels. In this study, we investigate a multi-echelon supply chain consisting of a supplier, a plant, a distribution center and a retailer. Material flow between stages is driven by reorder point/order quantity inventory control policies. We develop a model to analyze supply chain behavior using some key performance metrics such as the time averages of inventory and backorder levels, as well as customer service levels at each echelon. The model is validated against simulation, yielding good agreement of robust performance metrics. The metrics are then used within an optimization framework to design the supply chain so as to minimize expected total system costs. The outcome of the optimization framework specifies how to move inventory throughout the supply chain and how to set inventory control parameters, i.e., reorder levels and replenishment batch sizes.  相似文献

在货到付款支付模式下二级供应链定价决策中,供应链企业资金闲置时向银行存款或资金约束时向银行贷款(银行存贷)的行为是不可忽视的重要因素,如何构建基于货到付款支付模式且考虑银行存贷的二级供应链Stackelberg定价决策模型是需要关注的重要问题。在本文中,首先给出了市场需求函数;然后,基于货到付款支付模式,针对制造商资金或零售商资金约束情形,分别构建针对不同供应链权力结构的定价决策模型;进一步地,通过模型求解确定了不同情形下不同权力结构的制造商与零售商的最优策略,并分析了模型参数对最优策略的影响;最后,针对不同资金约束情形与不同权力结构的最优策略以及银行利率对最优策略及利润影响,给出了对比分析。研究表明三种银行利率均会影响最优策略,且资金约束对象差异的影响明显。  相似文献

A closed-loop supply chain is a complex system in which node enterprises play important roles and exert great influence. Firstly, this paper established a collecting price game model for a close-loop supply chain system with a manufacturer and a retailer who have different rationalities. It assumed that the node enterprises took the marginal utility maximization as the basis of decision-making. Secondly, through numerical simulation, we analyzed complex dynamic phenomena such as the bifurcation, chaos and continuous power spectrum and so on. Thirdly, we analyzed the influences of the system parameters; this further explained the complex nonlinear dynamics behavior from the perspective of economics. One of the most complicated decision making problems for managers is the evaluation of supply chain (SC) performance which involves various criteria. Though vast studies have been recorded on supply chain efficiency evaluation via balanced scorecard (BSC) approach, these studies do not focus on the relationships between the four perspectives of BSC approach. The present paper is an attempt focusing on these relationships, especially the returnable ones. To do so, at first, all relationships between the four perspectives of BSC were determined and then the DEMATEL approach was employed to obtain a network structure. This network structure was then used to create a network DEA model. Since it was not possible to calculate the efficiency evaluation score by BSC, the data envelopment analysis (DEA) model was used for such an evaluation. Moreover, after reviewing different tools to evaluate the performance of supply chain, a new approach, relying on network DEA with BSC approach, was generated. Finally, this model was applied in the Iranian food industry to evaluate its supply chains efficiency and the results proved the high efficiency of the model designed. The findings could be used in various evaluation processes in different industries.  相似文献

Successful supply chain management requires a cooperative integration between all the partners in the network. At the operational level, the partners individual behavior should be optimal and therefore their activities have to be planned using sophisticated optimization tools. However, these tools should take into account the planning of the remaining partners, through the exchange of information, in order to allow some kind of cooperation between the elements of the chain. This paper introduces a new supply chain management technique, based on modeling a generic supply chain with suppliers, logistics and distributers, as a distributed optimization problem. The different operational activities are solved by the optimization meta-heuristic called ant colony optimization, which allows the exchange of information between different optimization problems by means of a pheromone matrix. The simulation results show that the new methodology is more efficient than a simple decentralized methodology for different instances of a supply chain.  相似文献

Decision making in modern supply chains can be extremely daunting due to their complex nature. Discrete-event simulation is a technique that can support decision making by providing what-if analysis and evaluation of quantitative data. However, modelling supply chain systems can result in massively large and complicated models that can take a very long time to run even with today's powerful desktop computers. Distributed simulation has been suggested as a possible solution to this problem, by enabling the use of multiple computers to run models. To investigate this claim, this paper presents experiences in implementing a simulation model with a ‘conventional’ approach and with a distributed approach. This study takes place in a healthcare setting, the supply chain of blood from donor to recipient. The study compares conventional and distributed model execution times of a supply chain model simulated in the simulation package Simul8. The results show that the execution time of the conventional approach increases almost linearly with the size of the system and also the simulation run period. However, the distributed approach to this problem follows a more linear distribution of the execution time in terms of system size and run time and appears to offer a practical alternative. On the basis of this, the paper concludes that distributed simulation can be successfully applied in certain situations.  相似文献

Electric utilities have a well-established vertical internal and external supply chain. Theoretically, information sharing, involving production, inventory, and other policy variables, between chain entities can improve supply chain performance. Such sharing relies on a systematic determination of the optimal policy variables for the chain. This paper presents an analysis of the electric utility’s decision problem based on an optimal control model in a competitive market environment. Optimal production and inventory policies are developed for a centralized supply chain under full information sharing. The model and policies are tested with electric utility industry data, and performance implications are discussed for electric utility managers and public regulators.  相似文献

The coordination of order policies constitutes a great challenge in supply chain inventory management as various stochastic factors increase its complexity. Therefore, analytical approaches to determine a policy that minimises overall inventory costs are only suitable to a limited extent. In contrast, we adopt a heuristic approach, from the domain of artificial intelligence (AI), namely, Monte Carlo tree search (MCTS). To the best of our knowledge, MCTS has neither been applied to supply chain inventory management before nor is it yet widely disseminated in other branches of operations research. We develop an offline model as well as an online model which bases decisions on real-time data. For demonstration purposes, we consider a supply chain structure similar to the classical beer game with four actors and both stochastic demand and lead times. We demonstrate that both the offline and the online MCTS models perform better than other previously adopted AI-based approaches. Furthermore, we provide evidence that a dynamic order policy determined by MCTS eliminates the bullwhip effect.

This paper proposes a production and differential pricing decision model in a two-echelon supply chain that involves a demand from two or more market segments. In this framework, the retailer is allowed to set different prices during the planning horizon. While integrated production-marketing management has been a key research issue in supply chain management for a long time, little attention has been given to set prices and marketing expenditures in integrated multi-site (parallel) manufacturing systems and multiple demand classes. Generally, the presence of multiple demand classes induced by different market segments may impose demand leakage and then change production plan and ordering policies throughout the supply chain system. To tackle this problem, this paper develops a novel approach in order to provide an optimal aggregate production and marketing plan by interconnecting the sales channels of the retailer and demand. A non-linear model is established to determine optimal price differentiation, marketing expenditures and production plans of manufacturing sites in a multi-period, multi-product and multi-sale channels production planning problem by maximizing total profit of the supply chain. To handle the model and obtain solutions, we propose an efficient analytical model based upon convex hulls. Finally, we apply the proposed procedure to a clothing company in order to show usefulness and significance of the model and solution method.  相似文献

An efficient inventory planning approach in today’s global trading regime is necessary not only for increasing the profit margin, but also to maintain system flexibility for achieving higher customer satisfaction. Such an approach should hence be comprised of a prudent inventory policy and clear satisfaction of stakeholder’s goals. Relative significance given to various objectives in a supply chain network varies with product as well as time. In this paper, a model is proposed to fill this void for a single product inventory control of a supply chain consisting of three echelons. A generic modification proposed to the membership functions of the fuzzy goal-programming approach is used to mathematically map the aspiration levels of the decision maker. The bacterial foraging algorithm has been modified with enhancement of the algorithms’ capability to map integer solution spaces and utilised to solve resulting fuzzy multi-objective function. An illustrative example comprehensively covers various decision scenarios and highlights the underlying managerial insights.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop a network equilibrium model for supply chain networks with strategic financial hedging. We consider multiple competing firms that purchase multiple materials and parts to manufacture their products. The supply chain firms’ procurement activities are exposed to commodity price risk and exchange rate risk. The firms can use futures contracts to hedge the risks. Our research studies the equilibrium of the entire network where each firm optimizes its own operation and hedging decisions. We use variational inequality theory to formulate the equilibrium model, and provide qualitative properties. We provide analytical results for a special case with duopolistic competition, and use simulations to study an oligopolistic case. The analytical and simulation studies reveals interesting managerial insights.  相似文献
