We consider a delayed predator-prey system. We first consider the existence of local Hopf bifurcations, and then derive explicit formulas which enable us to determine the stability and the direction of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations, using the normal form theory and center manifold argument. Special attention is paid to the global existence of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations. By using a global Hopf bifurcation result due to Wu [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 350 (1998) 4799], we show that the local Hopf bifurcation implies the global Hopf bifurcation after the second critical value of delay. Finally, several numerical simulations supporting the theoretical analysis are also given.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study the dynamics of a delayed business cycle model with general investment function. The model describes the interaction of the gross product and capital stock. Furthermore, the delay represents the time between the decision of investment and implementation. Firstly, we show that the model is well posed by proving the global existence and boundedness of solutions. Secondly, we determine the economic equilibrium of the model. By analyzing the characteristic equation, we investigate the stability of the economic equilibrium and the local existence of Hopf bifurcation. Also, the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are derived by applying the normal form method and center manifold theory. Moreover, the global existence of bifurcating periodic solutions is established by using the global Hopf bifurcation theory. Finally, our theoretical results are illustrated with some numerical simulations.  相似文献

The dynamics of a logistic equation with discrete delay are investigated, together with the local and global stability of the equilibria. In particular, the conditions under which a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occur at the positive equilibrium are obtained. Explicit algorithm for determining the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation are derived by using the theory of normal form and center manifold [Hassard B, Kazarino D, Wan Y. Theory and applications of Hopf bifurcation. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press; 1981.]. Global existence of periodic solutions is also established by using a global Hopf bifurcation result of Wu [Symmetric functional differential equations and neural networks with memory. The dynamics of a class of abstract delay differential equations are investigated. We prove that a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occur at the origin equilibrium as the delay increases. By using the theory of normal form and centre manifold, the direction of Hopf bifurcations and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions is derived. Then, the existence of the global Hopf bifurcation of the system is discussed by applying the global Hopf bifurcation theorem of general functional differential equation.  相似文献

A stage-structured predator-prey system with time delay is considered. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equation, the local stability of a positive equilibrium is investigated. The existence of Hopf bifurcations is established. Formulae are derived to determine the direction of bifurcations and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions by using the normal form theory and center manifold theorem. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the theoretical results. Based on the global Hopf bifurcation theorem for general functional differential equations, the global existence of periodic solutions is established.  相似文献

In this paper, an age‐structured population model with the form of neutral functional differential equation is studied. We discuss the stability of the positive equilibrium by analyzing the characteristic equation. Local Hopf bifurcation results are also obtained by choosing the mature delay as bifurcation parameter. On the center manifold, the normal form of the Hopf bifurcation is derived, and explicit formulae for determining the criticality of bifurcation are theoretically given. Moreover, the global continuation of Hopf bifurcating periodic solutions is investigated by using the global Hopf bifurcation theory of neutral equations. Finally, some numerical examples are carried out to support the main results.  相似文献

The dynamics of a neural network model in neutral form is investigated. We prove that a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occurs at the origin as the delay increases. The direction of the Hopf bifurcations and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined by using normal form method and center manifold theory. Global existence of periodic solutions is established using a global Hopf bifurcation result of Krawcewicz et al. and a Bendixson's criterion for higher dimensional ordinary differential equations due to Li and Muldowney.  相似文献

We proposed a nutrient-phytoplankton interaction model with a discrete and distributed time delay to provide a better understanding of phytoplankton growth dynamics and nutrient-phytoplankton oscillations induced by delay. Standard linear analysis indicated that delay can induce instability of a positive equilibrium via Hopf bifurcation. We derived the conditions guaranteeing the existence of Hopf bifurcation and tracked its direction and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions. We also obtained the sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability of the unique positive steady state. Numerical analysis in the fully nonlinear regime showed that the stability of the positive equilibrium is sensitive to changes in delay values under select conditions. Numerical results were consistent with results predicted by linear analysis.  相似文献

The dynamical behavior of a delayed neural network with bi-directional coupling is investigated by taking the delay as the bifurcating parameter. Some parameter regions are given for conditional/absolute stability and Hopf bifurcations by using the theory of functional differential equations. As the propagation time delay in the coupling varies, stability switches for the trivial solution are found. Conditions ensuring the stability and direction of the Hopf bifurcation are determined by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. We also discuss the spatio-temporal patterns of bifurcating periodic oscillations by using the symmetric bifurcation theory of delay differential equations combined with representation theory of Lie groups. In particular, we obtain that the spatio-temporal patterns of bifurcating periodic oscillations will alternate according to the change of the propagation time delay in the coupling, i.e., different ranges of delays correspond to different patterns of neural activities. Numerical simulations are given to illustrate the obtained results and show the existence of bursts in some interval of the time for large enough delay.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a single-directional ring of three neurons with delays. First, linear stability of the model is investigated by analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation. Next, we studied the local Hopf bifurcations and the spatio-temporal patterns of Hopf bifurcating periodic orbits. Basing on the normal form approach and the center manifold theory, we derive the formula for determining the properties of Hopf bifurcating periodic orbit, such as the direction of Hopf bifurcation. Finally, global existence conditions for Hopf bifurcating periodic orbits are derived by using degree theory methods.  相似文献

A neural network model with three neurons and a single delay is considered. The existence of local Hopf bifurcations is first considered and then explicit formulas are derived by using the normal form method and center manifold theory to determine the direction of the Hopf bifurcations and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions. A global Hopf bifurcation theorem due to Wu and a Bendixson's criterion for high-dimensional ODE due to Li and Muldowney are used to obtain a group of conditions for the system to have multiple periodic solutions when the delay is sufficiently large. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to support the theoretical analysis of the research.  相似文献

In this paper, the dynamics of a spruce-budworm model with delay is investigated. We show that there exists Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium as the delay increases. Some sufficient conditions for the existence of Hopf bifurcation are obtained by investigating the associated characteristic equation. By using the theory of normal form and center manifold, explicit expression for determining the direction of Hopf bifurcations and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are presented.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the local stability of a positive equilibrium and the Hopf bifurcation of a delayed three-species food-chain system with the Holling type-II functional response. Some new sufficient conditions ensuring the local stability of a positive equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation for the system are established. Some explicit formulae are derived to determine the direction of bifurcations and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions using the normal form theory and the centre manifold theory. Numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical analysis are also provided. Finally, biological explanations and main conclusions are included.  相似文献

In this paper we give a detailed Hopf bifurcation analysis of a ratio-dependent predator–prey system involving two different discrete delays. By analyzing the characteristic equation associated with the model, its linear stability is investigated. Choosing delay terms as bifurcation parameters the existence of Hopf bifurcations is demonstrated. Stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions is determined by using the center manifold theorem and the normal form theory introduced by Hassard et al. Furthermore, some of the bifurcation properties including direction, stability and period are given. Finally, theoretical results are supported by some numerical simulations.  相似文献

In this paper, an eco-epidemiological model with a stage structure is considered. The asymptotical stability of the five equilibria, the existence of stability switches about positive equilibrium, is investigated. It is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs when the delay τ passes though a critical value. Some explicit formulae determining the stability and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations are obtained by using the normal form theory and center manifold theory. Some numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical analysis are also provided. Finally, biological explanations and main conclusions are given.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a delayed predator-prey system with modified Leslie-Gower and Holling type III schemes. By analyzing the associated characteristic equation, its local stability and the existence of periodic solutions via Hopf bifurcation with respect to both delays are obtained. Based on the normal form method and center manifold theorem, the formulaes for determining the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are derived. Finally, some numerical simulations to illustrate the theoretical analysis are also carried out.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the dynamics of a delayed predator-prey system in the presence of harvesting. This is a modified version of the Leslie-Gower and Holling-type II scheme. The main result is given in terms of local stability, global stability, influence of harvesting and bifurcation. Direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are also studied by using the normal form method and center manifold theorem.  相似文献
