A novel high-speed fibre Bragg grating (FBG) sensor interrogator using dispersion-compensating fibre is proposed and demonstrated. The wavelength shift measurement of the FBG sensor is converted to time-domain measurement. The high-speed potential of this scheme was investigated experimentally, demonstrating an effective sampling speed of 2.44 megasamples per second.  相似文献

The use of a silicon-waveguide-based optical phase conjugator at the mid-span of a fibre link for dispersion compensation is experimentally demonstrated, enabling transmission of optical data at up to 40 Gbit/s over 320 km of standard fibre with clear open eye diagrams at the receiver. In addition, the feasibility of dispersion compensation for multiple DWDM channels simultaneously is demostrated. A signal conversion efficiency of -10 dB is obtained with a pump intensity of 37.5 MW/cm2 in the waveguide.  相似文献

基于调频连续波测距的原理搭建并改进了双光路调频连续波测距系统,在测量光路增加光纤延迟线使测量距离拓展到了65 m.还研究了等光频重采样中色散的影响,推导出了带有色散和光纤延迟线的重采样模型,提出了在调频连续波大长度测距中通过频率幅度来调节相位补偿系数的色散校正方法.实验表明,在45~65 m的范围内增加了光纤延迟线并且有效的校正了色散,校正色散后在65. 165 m处测距值与干涉仪测量值最大误差小于500μm,标准差为246μm,频谱分辨力高达123μm,十分接近理论分辨力.文章的研究为调频连续波大尺寸测量提供了可行性的参考.  相似文献

Dispersion compensation with phase-sensitive optical amplifiers   总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13  
Recently, we proposed a novel approach to combating the pulse-broadening effect of group-velocity dispersion (GVD) in a fiber-optic communication link (IEEE Photon. Technol. Lett., vol. 5, pp. 669-672, 1993). In our scheme, linear loss in the fiber is balanced by a chain of periodically spaced, phase-sensitive optical amplifiers. In this paper, we present a detailed analysis of pulse propagation in such a fiber line showing that, due to attenuation in the quadrature orthogonal to the amplified quadrature, it is possible for a pulse to propagate without significant broadening over lengths many times longer than the usual dispersion length of the fiber. An averaged equation for pulse evolution over distances longer than the amplifier spacing is derived. The effect of optical-phase fluctuations between the propagating pulse and the amplifiers is also considered. Since our proposed scheme does not rely on the formation of solitons in the fiber, it can be implemented in both the positive and negative GVD regions, and it does not require a minimum peak power for the pulses  相似文献

A concept for dispersion compensation in transmission is proposed, based on modes anti-crossing in photonic crystal (PC) line-defect waveguides. Quasi-constant positive and negative dispersion is possible in order of 100 ps/nm/mm on the bandwidth of 100 GHz. An adiabatic taper is proposed for efficient coupling into PC structure.  相似文献

We report coherent lightwave transmission at a data rate of 2Gbit/s over 170 km of optical fibre. Phase modulation is employed, and a bit error rate lower than 10-9 is achieved. Compensation of third-order dispersion in a fiber-optic transmission system using a phase modulator is studied both theoretically and experimentally. A sinusoidal signal is used as modulation function, where the amplitude and phase delay are optimized. The 2-ps input pulses (160-Gb/s compatible) were transmitted through a 626-km fiber link, where the characteristic oscillating tail was measured with a 1.6-ps resolution optical sampling system. When applying the phase modulation, the oscillating tail was significantly suppressed. The pulses were also used in a 160-Gb/s transmission experiment, where the eye diagrams were measured with the sampling system. Numerical simulations and practical experiments showed excellent agreement.  相似文献

Using perturbation theory, an examination is made of the fidelity of the photorefractive degenerate four-wave mixing phase conjugator. The general case is considered in which the probe is spatially varying (a beam) and temporally varying (a pulse), and the pumps are allowed to deplete. The probe wave is expanded as a sum of monochromatic plane-wave components. Carrying out the perturbation procedure up to the third order, the authors found that the components of the probe interact in pairs, so that the reflectance of each component of the conjugate wave is a combination of a linear term, a self-nonlinear term, and a term representing crosstalk with all other components of the probe. The dispersion slope of a dispersion-shifted fibre has been successfully equalised by using a bend-induced positive dispersion slope in a singlemode fibre. We realised the bent fibre dispersion slope equaliser by using a 1.3 μm zero-dispersion pure silica core fibre (PSM). The authors report what is, to their knowledge, the highest electro-optic effect measured in a germanosilicate fibre ever reported. The electro-optic effect based on a permanent second-order nonlinearity has been induced by UV-excited poling at 193 nm with an electric field >8×105 V/cm. Polarisation dependence of the VπL product in a birefringent fibre has been observed, and the lowest VπL product obtained for the TE mode of 32 Vcm, comparable to that based on r22 of LiNbO3, has been measured at 633 nm with a phase modulation at frequencies up to 5 MHz  相似文献
