Tolerancing conventionally deals with the variation of manufacturing processes to meet the requirements of product quality. With the development in product customization, it has been generally accepted that customers’ requirements also have acceptable tolerance range. This flexibility provides an opportunity to better match customer requirements with richer product offerings through customization. A probabilistic model is presented in this paper to incorporate the tolerance of functional requirements into customized product design. By leveraging on the requirements tolerance, customers are more likely to get their desired products. Customer requirements tolerance can thus open up a new dimension for product customization.  相似文献

The large amount of plastic products presently produced necessitates recycling and reuse of these non-biodegradable materials. However, the degradation in the mechanical properties of products made from recycled plastic is a major drawback that limits their use. This study aims to improve the mechanical properties of products made from recycled plastic by utilizing the Taguchi optimization method, instead of coupling the products with additives. By adopting L9 Taguchi OA, products made from various compositions of virgin and recycled plastic are produced by injection moulding. Four controllable factors (i.e., melt temperature, packing pressure, injection time, and packing time), each at three levels, are tested to determine the optimal combination of factors and levels in the manufacturing process. By determining the optimal combination of factors and levels, the appropriate blending ratio of virgin and recycled plastic can be evaluated from the mechanical performance exhibited by the compound. The effects of the optimal processing parameters and the addition of recycled plastic in various compositions on the mechanical properties and melt flow index of the produced parts are also investigated. The results reveal that the product made of 25% recycled polypropylene (PP) and 75% virgin PP exhibits a better flexural modulus compared to the virgin form. The same product exhibits a 3.4% decrease in flexural strength. The degradation in mechanical properties of products produced from recycled plastic can be improved by optimizing the influence processing parameters during the manufacturing process.  相似文献

In this paper, a sacrificial anode cathodic protection problem of 2D steel storage tank was simulated using boundary element method. The tank was protected by a zinc anode located directly on structure wall. Data obtained from potentiodynamic measurements were used as boundary condition. In this study, optimum location of the anode was determined, and the influence of anode length and paint defect on the level of protection provided by system were investigated. This study showed that boundary element method is beneficial in modeling and analyzing cathodic protection systems and calculated results were consistent with expectations from the basic corrosion concepts.  相似文献

An optimized titanium slurry was developed from 43 vol.% of titanium powder, 0.3 dw.% of dispersant, 0.8 dw.% of plasticizer and 0.8 dw.% of binder, mixed with a balance of distilled water, which produced a viscosity of 40 cP. It was then poured into a plaster mold to form compacts with a green density of 45%. Thermal debinding was carried out at 320 °C with an argon flow for 2 h, followed by vacuum sintering different samples at 1000 °C and 1200 °C for 0.5 h, respectively. The porous sintered compacts had satisfactory tensile strength with some plastic deformation. The increase in oxygen and carbon content during processing was minor. An X-ray diffraction pattern showed pure alpha titanium peaks without any indication of contamination from organic additives. The results from this investigation suggested that slip casting is a potentially low-cost, simple production route for manufacturing porous titanium products.  相似文献

Most of the currently available corrosion product characterization techniques require extensive samples preparation methods and cannot be employed under aqueous conditions. Raman spectroscopy possesses the advantage of characterization of the corrosion products under practical operation conditions, including aqueous, without any sample preparation procedures. The present study examines the corrosion characteristics of AISI-4340 steel at aqueous and atmospheric environments using Raman spectroscopy. FeO, Fe2O3, and Fe3O4 were observed as the main corrosion products. The measured oxides thicknesses ratio were compared to the theoretic value obtained from Tammann equation.  相似文献

采用机械合金化和热压工艺制备高强Al 7068?5%TiC(质量分数)纳米复合材料。基于致密化的重要性和晶粒生长的影响,以获得较高抗压强度为目标,采用Taguchi统计法对制备Al 7068?5%TiC块体纳米复合材料的热压条件进行优化。结果表明:在500 MPa和385°C下热压30 min能获得抗压强度为938 MPa、硬度为HV 265的Al 7068?TiC纳米复合材料。此外,方差分析结果表明,外加压力是影响纳米复合材料热压过程最关键的因素。各因素对纳米复合材料热压过程影响贡献率为外加压力(61.3%)、热压温度(29.53%)和热压时间(4.49%)。  相似文献

Isothermal compression testing of Ti555211 titanium alloys was carried out at deformation temperatures from 750 to 950 °C in 50 °C intervals with a strain rate of0.001–1.000 s~(-1). The high-temperature deformation behavior of the Ti555211 alloy was characterized by analysis of stress–strain behavior, kinetics and processing maps. A constitutive equation was formulated to describe the flow stress as a function of deformation temperature and strain rate, and the calculated apparent activation energies are found to be 454.50 and 207.52 k J mol~(-1)in the a b-phase and b-phase regions, respectively. A processing map based on the Murty instability criterion was developed at a strain of 0.7. The maps exhibit two domains of peak efficiency from 750 to 950 °C. A *60 % peak efficiency occurs at 800–850 °C/0.001–0.010 s~(-1). The other peak efficiency of *60 % occurs at C950 °C/0.001–0.010 s~(-1), which can be considered to be the optimum condition for high-temperature working of this alloy.However, at strain rates of higher than 1.000 s~(-1)and deformation temperatures of 750 and 950 °C, clear process flow lines and bands of flow localization occur in the hightemperature deformation process, which should be avoided in Ti555211 alloy hot processing. The mechanism in stability domain and instability domain was also discussed.  相似文献
