Summary Complexes of furan and thiophene azo-oximes with iron(II), cobalt(III), nickel(II) and copper(II) have been prepared and characterised. Iron(II), cobalt(III) and copper(II) complexes are diamagnetic in the solid state. The diamagnetism of the copper(II) chelates is suggestive of antiferromagnetic interaction between two copper centres.1H n.m.r. spectral data suggest atrans-octahedral geometry for the tris-chelates of cobalt(III). Nickel(II) complexes are paramagnetic, in contrast to the diamagnetism of the analogous complexes of arylazooximes. The electronic spectra are suggestive of octahedral geometry for the iron(II), cobalt(III) and nickel(II) complexes, andD 4h -symmetry for copper(II). Infrared data indicate N-bonding of the oximino-group to the metal ions.  相似文献

Manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes with 1,5,11,15-tetraaza-21,22-dioxo-tricyclo [19,3,1,I6,10]-5,10,15-20-dicosatetraene (L), as a new macrocyclicligand, have been synthesized with and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, mass, IR, electronic and EPR spectral studies. The molar conductance measurements of the complexes in DMF correspond to non-electrolytic nature of Mn(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes, while showing a 1:2 electrolyte for thew Ni(II) complexe. Thus, these complexes may be formulated as [M(L)X2] and [Ni(L)]X2 (where M = Mn(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) and X = Cl- and NO3 -). On the basis of IR, electronic and EPR spectral studies, an octahedral geometry has been assigned for Mn(II) and Co(II), a square planar for Ni(II) and tetragonal for Cu(II) complexes. In vitro ligand and its metal complexes were also screened against the growth of some fungal and bacterial species in order to assess their antimicrobial properties.  相似文献

A novel macrocyclic tetradentate ligand 1,5,8,12-tetraaza-2,4,9,11-tetraphenyl-6,7:13,14-dibenzocyclohexadeca- 1,4,8,11-tetraene (L) has been synthesized. Cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) complexes of this ligand have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibitity measurements, and mass, IR, electronic, and ESR spectral studies. The molar conductance measurements correspond to a nonelectrolytic nature for all the complexes, which can be formulated as [M(L)X2] (where M = Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II); X = Cl and NO3). On the basis of IR, electronic, and ESR spectral studies, an octahedral geometry has been assigned to the Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes, whereas a tetragonal geometry was found for the Cu(II) complexes. The investigated compounds and uncomplexed metal salts and the ligands were tested against bacterial species like Sarcina lutea, Escherchia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. The metal complexes have higher activity than the free ligand and metal salts. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

Manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes have been synthesized with a new tetradentate ligand viz. 1,3,7,9-tetraaza-2,4,8,10-tetraketo-6,12-diphenyl-cyclododecane (L) and characterized by the elemental analysis, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, mass, 1H NMR, IR, electronic and EPR spectral studies. The molar conductance measurements of the complexes in DMF correspond to be nonelectrolytic nature for Mn(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) while 1:2 electrolytes for Ni(II) complexes. Thus, these complexes may be formulated as [M(L)X2] and [Ni(L)]X2 (where M = Mn(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) and X = Cl and NO3).On the basis of IR, electronic and EPR spectral studies an octahedral geometry has been assigned for Mn(II) and Co(II) complexes, square-planar for Ni(II) whereas tetragonal for Cu(II) complexes. The ligand and its complexes were also evaluated against the growth of bacteria and pathogenic fungi in vitro.  相似文献

A series of new Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes of Schiff base derived from coumarin have been prepared and characterized by analytical and spectral methods. The Schiff base is synthesized by the condensation of 2,6-diaminopyridine and 3-acetylcoumarin in 1 : 1 stoichiometric ratio. All complexes have 1 : 1 metal : ligand ratio except the nickel complex, where it was found to be 1 : 2. UV-Vis spectra and magnetic moment studies confirm the existence of tetrahedral and octahedral geometries around cobalt(II) and nickel(II) metal ions, respectively, but copper(II) chloride/nitrate/sulfate complexes have square-planar geometry and copper(II) acetate complex is distorted octahedral. ESR spectra of copper complexes at room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature were tetragonal. All the complexes were found to be more active against bacteria except Ni(II) complex; only CuLSO4 and CuL(CH3COO)2 have shown the enhanced activity against fungi.  相似文献

A series of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes have been synthesized with Schiff bases derived from 3-substituted-4-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole and indole-3-aldehyde in ethanol. These complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic, spectroscopic (IR, UV-Vis, H-NMR, ESR, FAB-mass), thermal, electrochemical (CV) and solid state d.c. electrical conductivity studies. The elemental analyses confirm 1 : 2 stoichiometry of the type ML2·2H2O (M = Co/Ni) and ML2 (M=Cu). The complexes are colored solids and non-electrolytes in DMF and DMSO. Magnetic and spectral data suggest octahedral geometry for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and square-planar geometry for Cu(II) complexes. The presence of coordinated water in Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes was confirmed by thermal and IR data of the complexes. The complexes are insoluble in water and common organic solvents and decompose at higher temperature. All these ligands and their complexes have also been screened for antibacterial (Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and antifungal activities (Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus fumigates) by the cup plate method.  相似文献

An azo derivative was synthesized by coupling diazotized 2-amino-3-carbethoxy-4,5-dimethylthiophene with 2-naphthol and this new ligand formed a series of metal complexes with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) salts. These complexes were characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, UV-Visible, IR and 1H NMR spectral data. Analytical data revealed that all the complexes exhibited 1: 1 metal-ligand ratio. Spectral studies showed that the ligand existed in an internally hydrogen bonded azo-enol form rather than the keto-hydrazone form and coordinated to the metal ion in a tridentate fashion. On the basis of electronic spectral data and magnetic susceptibility measurements, suitable geometry was proposed for each complex. The ligand and its cobalt(II) complex were subjected to X-ray diffraction study. The thermal behaviour of the ligand and its copper(II) complex was examined by thermogravimetry. The ligand and its copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes were applied to silk fabric and their fastness properties were evaluated.  相似文献

A new series of antibacterial and antifungal amino acid derived Schiff bases and their cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) metal complexes have been synthesized and characterized by their elemental analyses, molar conductances, magnetic moments, IR and electronic spectral measurements. The spectral data indicated the Schiff base ligands ( L 1– L 5) derived by condensation of salicylaldehyde with glycine, alanine, phenylalanine, methionine and cysteine, to act as tridentate towards divalent metal ions (cobalt, copper, nickel and zinc) via the azomethine‐N, deprotonated carboxyl group of the respective amino acid and deprotonated oxygen atom of salicylaldehyde by a stoichiometric reaction of M: L (1:2) to form complexes of the type K2[M( L )2] [where M = Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)]. The magnetic moments and electronic spectral data suggested that all complexes have an octahedral geometry. Elemental analyses and NMR spectral data of the ligands and their Zn (II) complexes agree with their proposed structures. The synthesized ligands, along with their metal complexes, were screened for their in‐vitro antibacterial activity against four Gram‐negative (Escherichia coli, Shigella flexeneri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella typhi) and two Gram ‐ positive (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus) bacterial strains and for in‐vitro antifungal activity against Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glaberata. The results of these studies show the metal complexes to be more antibacterial/antifungal against one or more species as compared with the uncomplexed Schiff base ligands. The brine shrimp bioassay was also carried out to study their in‐vitro cytotoxic properties. Only three compounds ( 2, 11 and 17 ) displayed potent cytotoxic activity as LD50 = 8.196 × 10?4, 7.315 × 10?4 and 5.599 × 10?4 M /ml respectively, against Artemia salina. Complexes of manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) with a novel heterocyclic azo derivative, formed by coupling diazotized 2-amino-3-carbethoxy-4,5-dimethylthiophene with acetylacetone were synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, UV–vis, IR, 1H NMR and EPR spectral data. Spectral studies revealed that the ligand existed in an internally hydrogen bonded azo-enol form rather than the keto-hydrazone form and coordinated to the metal ion in a tridentate fashion. Analytical data revealed that all the complexes exhibited 1:1 metal–ligand ratio. On the basis of electronic spectral data and magnetic susceptibility measurements, suitable geometry was proposed for each complex. The nickel(II) complex has undergone facile transesterification reaction when refluxed in methanol for a long period. The ligand and the copper(II) complex were subjected to X-ray diffraction study. The electrochemical behaviour of copper(II) complex was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The thermal behaviour of the same complex was also examined by thermogravimetry.  相似文献

The metal coordination geometry in the active site of metalloproteins are very different from the one of small inorganic complexes, due to the inflexibility of the ligand set from amino acid side chains different from freely moving ligand set in synthesis. Using the sterically hindered 2,6-di-(p-fluorophenyl)benzoate(L) ligand, a series of mononuclear Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of general formula [M(L)2(Hdmpz)2] (where, Hdmpz = 3,5-dimethyl pyrazole) have been synthesized and characterized by the variety of spectroscopic methods. A distorted octahedral geometry in case of nickel, tetrahedral geometry for cobalt and square pyramidal in copper was observed in the X-ray studies, which also revealed that the uncoordinated oxygen atom of the carboxylate group forms intramolecular hydrogen bonding with the N-H group of the coordinated 3,5-dimethylpyrazole in case of cobalt and copper.  相似文献

New N2O2 donor type Schiff bases have been designed and synthesized by condensing acetylaceto-4-aminoantipyrine/acetoacetanilido-4-aminoantipyrine with 2-amino benzoic acid in ethanol. Solid metal complexes of the Schiff bases with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), VO(IV), Hg(II) and Cd(II) metal ions were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, molar conduction, FAB Mass, IR, UV-Vis., 1H NMR, and ESR spectral studies. The data show that the complexes have a composition of the ML type. The UV-Vis., magnetic susceptibility, and ESR spectral data of the complexes suggest a square planar geometry around the central metal ion, except for VO(IV) complexes, which have square-pyramidal geometry. The redox behavior of copper and vanadyl complexes has been studied by cyclic voltammetry. The nuclease activity of the above metal complexes shows that the complexes cleave DNA through redox chemistry. In the presence of H2O2, all the complexes are capable of cleaving calf thymus DNA plasmids, in order to compare the cleavage efficiency of all metal complexes in the two different ligand environments. In this assay, Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), and Zn(II) exhibit more cleavage efficiency than other metal ions. This article was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

A new series of transition metal complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), and VO(IV) have been designed and synthesized from the Schiff base derived from cinnamidene-4-aminoantipyrine and 2-aminophenol by involving the carbonyl group of 4-aminoantipyrine. The structural features have been arrived from their elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, molar conduction, FAB mass, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR and ESR spectral studies. The data show that the complexes have composition of the ML2 type. The UV-Vis, magnetic susceptibility, and ESR spectral data of the complexes suggest an octahedral geometry around the central metal ion except the VO(IV) complex, which has a square-pyramidal geometry. The redox behavior of the copper and vanadyl complexes has been studied by cyclic voltammetry. The antimicrobial activity of the ligand and its complexes has been extensively studied on microorganisms such as Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus niger, and Rhizoctonia bataicola. It has been found that most of the complexes have higher activities than that of the free ligand. The nuclease activity of the above metal complexes shows that the complexes cleave DNA through redox chemistry. In the presence of H2O2, the complexes are capable of cleaving calf thymus DNA. Two new soluble phenylaminoglyoxime ligands, 4-isopropylanilinephenylglyoxime (L1H2), 4-benzylpiperidinephenylglyoxime (L2H2), were prepared by reacting 4-isopropylaniline and 4-benzylpiperidine with chlorophenylglyoxime. Mononuclear nickel(II), cobalt(II), copper(II), zinc(II), and cadmium(II) complexes with these ligands were synthesized. On the basis of the magnetic and spectral evidence a square-planar geometry for Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes, a tedrahedral geometry for Cd(II) and Zn(II) complexes and octahedral geometry for Co(II) complexes are proposed. These compounds were elucidated by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis, and magnetic moments. The ligands were additionally characterized by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra.  相似文献

A series of metal complexes of Zn(II) and Hg(II) having the general composition [ML2]X2 with thiosemicarbazide have been prepared and characterized by elemental chemical analysis, molar conductance, and spectral (IR and mass) studies. The IR spectral data suggest the involvement of sulfur and terminal amino nitrogen in coordination to central metal ion. On the basis of spectral studies, a tetrahedral geometry has been assigned for the Zn(II) and Hg(II) complexes. Thiosemicarbazide and its metal complexes have been tested in vitro against a number of microorganisms in order to assess their antimicrobial properties. Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) complexes with bidentate Schiff bases derived from the condensation reaction of 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde, 5-nitrosalicylaldehyde, and 3,5 ditertiarybutyl-2-hydroxy benzaldehyde with tryptamine, have been reported. The ligands and complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and UV–Vis spectroscopy as well as single crystal X-ray structure analysis whenever possible. The complexes were found to have the general formula [M(L)2]. Spectral studies reveal that these Schiff bases were acting as bidentate ligands and co-ordinating to the metal center through deprotonated phenolate oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atoms. The Zn(II) complexes establish a tetrahedral geometry in a 1:2 metal to ligand stoichiometry, whereas a square planar geometry was proposed for the nickel and copper complexes, slightly distorted in the case of the latter. The antiulcer activity of 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde derivative and its nickel and copper complexes were evaluated in ethanol-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats. This Schiff base and its complexes promote ulcer protection as ascertained by the comparative decrease in ulcer areas, and inhibition of edema and leucocyte infiltration of the submucosal layer.  相似文献

The coordinating behavior of a new dihydrazone ligand, 2,6-bis[(3-methoxysalicylidene)hydrazinocarbonyl]pyridine towards manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), zinc(II) and cadmium(II) has been described. The metal complexes were characterized by magnetic moments, conductivity measurements, spectral (IR, NMR, UV-Vis, FAB-Mass and EPR) and thermal studies. The ligand crystallizes in triclinic system, space group P-1, with α=98.491(10)°, β=110.820(10)° and γ=92.228(10)°. The cell dimensions are a=10.196(7)?, b=10.814(7)?, c=10.017(7)?, Z=2 and V=1117.4(12). IR spectral studies reveal the nonadentate behavior of the ligand. All the complexes are neutral in nature and possess six-coordinate geometry around each metal center. The X-band EPR spectra of copper(II) complex at both room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature showed unresolved broad signals with g(iso)=2.106. Cyclic voltametric studies of copper(II) complex at different scan rates reveal that all the reaction occurring are irreversible.  相似文献

All the complexes were found to have general composition M(L)X2 [where M = manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) and X = Cl- & NO3-]. All the complexes are characterized by the elemental analysis, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, mass, 1H NMR, IR, electronic, EPR spectral and cyclic voltammetric studies. An octahedral geometry was assigned for Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and tetragonal for Cu(II) complexes. The biological actions of the ligand and complexes have been screened in vitro against many bacteria and pathogenic fungi to study their comparative capacity to inhibit the growth.  相似文献
