A compact four‐element multiple‐input‐multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna for ultra‐wideband (UWB) applications with WLAN band‐notched characteristics is proposed here. The proposed antenna has been designed to operate from 2 to 12 GHz while reject the frequencies between 4.9 to 6.4 GHz. The four antenna elements are placed orthogonal to attain the polarization diversity and high isolation. A thin stub connected to the ground plane is deployed as a LC notch filter to accomplish the rejected WLAN band in each antenna element. The mutual coupling between the adjacent elements is at least 17 dB while it has low indoor and outdoor envelop correlation (<0.45) and high gain with compact size of two boards, each measuring 50 × 25 mm2. To validate the concept, the prototype antenna is manufactured and measured. The comparison of the simulation results showed good agreement with the measured results. The low‐profile design and compact size of the proposed MIMO antenna make it a good candidate for diversity applications desired in portable devices operating in the UWB region.  相似文献

A novel triple‐band antenna element by etching parasitic slot on ground plane is presented. A three‐element antenna system for WLAN MIMO communications is fabricated by using the proposed antenna element. The triple‐band antenna element is designed for the WLAN standard frequency ranges (2.4‐2.485, 5.15‐5.35, and 5.475‐5.725 GHz). The three identical antenna elements are rotationally symmetric on the substrate, isolated by using metal‐vias cavity. The measured average peak gain within the operational bandwidth is about 2.7 dBi. The isolation between the antenna elements can achieve better than 17 dB at the lower band (2.25‐2.65 GHz), while more than 32 dB at the higher bands (5.20‐5.35 and 5.47‐5.73 GHz) is obtained.  相似文献

A novel design of 2 × 2 multiple‐input‐multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna is reported for ultra‐wideband applications. The neutralization line is implemented to minimize the mutual coupling between the radiating patches. The overall dimension of the designed antenna is 21 × 34 × 1.6 mm3. This antenna covers the measured bandwidth of 95.0% (3.52‐9.89 GHz) with better isolation (≤?22 dB) over the entire operating frequency band. The measured gain varies from 3.08 to 5.12 dBi over the entire band. The various antenna parameters such as S‐parameters, gain, efficiency, envelope correlation coefficient, mean effective gain, channel capacity loss, total active reflection coefficient, and radiation patterns are calculated and corresponding results are validated with the measured results.  相似文献

In this article, a compact 2 element UWB MIMO antenna is proposed. It has a compact size of 40 mm × 20 mm (800 mm2). The antenna utilizes hybrid Sierpinski Koch fractal shape as the radiating element. The antenna elements are placed parallel and close to each other. The isolation between the antenna elements is increased by employing a modified stepped ground plane and a reflecting ground stub. The use of stub results in pattern diversity. A U‐ Shaped slot is etched in the radiating element to notch the WLAN band that interferes with UWB. The antenna performance is measured in terms of S‐parameter, radiation pattern and diversity performance. Considering S11 < ?10 dB, the antenna offers an acceptable impedance bandwidth from 2.5 to 11 GHz, with an isolation better than 20 dB over the UWB range. It has a stable omnidirectional pattern. In terms of diversity performance, the antenna has an envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) of <0.1 and capacity loss of <0.1 bps/Hz. The channel capacity of the antenna in the outdoor environment is obtained using Wireless Insite. The channel capacity is found to be 2 Gb/s. The proposed antenna thus can be a good candidate for portable UWB application.  相似文献

A compact (45 × 45 × 1.6 mm3) ultrawide‐band (UWB), multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) design using microstrip line feeding is presented. The proposed design comprises four elliptical monopoles placed orthogonally on a cost‐effective FR‐4 substrate. In order to improve the impedance bandwidth and lessen the return loss of the MIMO antenna, defects in ground plane are created by etching symmetrical square slots and half‐rings. Moreover, a different method (of unsymmetrical H‐shaped slot with C‐shaped slot) was proposed into the patch to introduce dual‐band rejection performance from UWB at center frequency 5.5 GHz (covering lower WLAN as well as upper WLAN) and 7.5 GHz (X band). In addition, a stub is introduced at the edge of each defected ground structure to obtain isolation >–22 dB covering entire performing band from 2 to 16.8 GHz (where, S11 < –10 dB). The proposed design has miniaturized size, very low envelop correlation coefficient less than 0.1, stable gain (2‐4 dBi except for notch bands). Furthermore, various MIMO performance parameters are within their specifications, such as diversity gain (= 10 dB), total active reflection coefficient (<–5 dB, and channel capacity loss (<0.35 bits/s/Hz). The presented design is optimized using the HFSS software, and fabricated design is tested using vector network analyzer. The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation results.  相似文献

In this paper, a very low‐profile two‐port ultra‐wideband antenna for multiple input‐multiple output applications is proposed. The antenna is implemented by using two orthogonal quasi‐circular slot dipole radiators fed by coaxial lines. The antenna performs from 2 to 10 GHz, with an average peak‐gain of 4 dB, and high port isolation, with values around S21 = ?20 dB and below. The radiation patterns of both antennas are opposite to each other and hence, the diversity gain reaches values around 20 dB. The low inter‐port coupling and low correlation are verified by obtaining the envelope correlation coefficient, which is lower than 0.003. These calculations were made by the S‐parameter and far‐field methods. The total active reflection coefficient shows that the antenna operative bandwidth does not change for different input signals with random phases, preserving the operation from 2 to 10 GHz. The antenna performance is compared to different state of the art slot configurations, showing advantages to previously published work.  相似文献

In this reported work, two dual notched bands from 3.39 GHz to 3.92 GHz and from 4.43 GHz to 5.48 GHz for the WiMAX band (3.3–3.8 GHz) and for (lower) WLAN band (5.15–5.35 GHz) MIMO antenna with adjacent/orthogonal orientations has been investigated. Also, the proposed antenna is capable of controlling these notched bands whenever the need for power saving arises by reconfiguring them using PIN diodes. The issue of isolation between the radiating elements has been overcome by placing the radiating structures in the adjacent and orthogonal arrangement. The proposed antenna is characterized proving an average gain of 4.15/4.37 dBi and maximum radiation efficiency of 91/87% for adjacent/orthogonal orientation. The proposed antenna also shows good agreement with simulated and measured impedance bandwidth, diversity performances in terms of ECC, DG, TARC, and CCL for which values are well below the permissible range.  相似文献

A coplanar waveguide (CPW)‐fed flexible elliptical antenna with triple band notched characteristics is presented in this article. The designed antenna consists of an elliptical patch and slots incorporated CPW feed line to cover the bandwidth requirements for ultra‐wideband (UWB) applications. The designed UWB antenna has a fractional bandwidth of about 166.19% (1.20‐13 GHz) with a center frequency of 7.1 GHz in simulation and about 170.10% (1.05‐13 GHz) with a center frequency of 7.025 GHz in measurement. The overall dimension of the proposed flexible antenna is 45 × 35 × 0.6 mm3. The triple notched bands are realized by designing with circular shaped split‐ring‐resonators (SRRs) and defected ground structure (DGS). According to the measurement, first notched band (2.0? 2.70 GHz) is generated for rejecting 2.4 GHz WLAN by introducing a single circular ST‐SRR on the radiating patch. The second notch (3.45‐3.80 GHz) is obtained by embedding another circular ST‐SRR on the patch to mitigate the interference of 3.5 GHz Wi‐MAX system. Finally, due to presence of DGS, third notch (5.15‐6.20 GHz) is produced which suppresses the interference from 5.5 GHz Wi‐MAX and 5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN systems. The proposed antenna offers excellent performance in different flexible conditions that confirm its applicability on curved surfaces for UWB systems.  相似文献

A compact four and eight elements multiple‐input‐multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna designed for WLAN applications is presented in this article. The antenna operates in IEEE 802.11b/g WLAN (2.4 GHz), IEEE 802.11 ac/n WLAN (5.2 and 5.8 GHz) and WiMAX (5.8 GHz) bands. The resonated mode of the antenna is achieved by two unequal Reverse‐L shaped, line‐shaped slots on top and parasitic element on the ground layer. The single antenna provides wide bandwidth of about 29% (2.3‐3.1 GHz) in lower and 22% (4.9‐6.1 GHz) in the upper band. The compactness of the single element antenna is found about 95% with respect to the patch and 61% in overall dimension. Thereafter an investigation is carried out to design two, four, and eight elements MIMO antennas. All of the multi‐element structures provide compact configuration and cover entire WLAN frequency ranges (2.4‐2.48 and 5.15‐5.85 GHz). The dimension of the proposed eight element MIMO antenna is 102 × 52 × 1.6 mm3. It covers the frequency (measured) from 2.4 to 3.1 GHz and 5 to 6.1 GHz. The diversity performance of the proposed MIMO antenna is also assessed in terms of the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), diversity gain (DG), and total active reflection co‐efficient (TARC). The ECC is found <0.5 whereas the DG >9.0 is obtained for the desired bands.  相似文献

This article presents a coplanar waveguide fed global system for mobile communications band integrated ultra wide band (UWB) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna with single and dual notch band characteristics. The novelty of the antenna lies in its design as all the unit cells of the proposed UWB MIMO antenna structure are orthogonal to each other therefore the additional isolation elements responsible for achieving high isolation are not required consequently making proposed antenna design simple and easy to fabricate. In this context, 2 MIMO systems have been designed. The first MIMO system is consisting of a dual port antenna whereas the second MIMO system is a printed quad port antenna; further single and dual notch band are achieved in the proposed multi‐port MIMO antenna. The antenna shows pattern diversity throughout the impedance bandwidth range. The gain of the antenna varies from 4 to 8.48 dBi. The 2 band notches are achieved at 4.8 and 7.7 GHz in the UWB range. The proposed antenna is fabricated and it is found measured results are in good agreement with simulated results.  相似文献

In this research, compact tapered feed 2 × 2/4 × 4 MIMO antenna are presented and investigated. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of a square patch and modified rectangular ground, which is chamfered at edges and etched with two semicircular slots. Likewise, obstruction caused by WiMAX and WLAN interfering bands is also taken care of by introducing notched filters. WiMAX is removed by embedding an rotated T‐type stub and a C‐type slot eliminates the WLAN band. The proposed antenna configuration covers the usable bandwidth of 3.07 to 11.25 GHz for 2 × 2 MIMO and 2.97 to 11.28 GHz for 4 × 4 MIMO. Also, both the MIMO antennas provide isolation <–20 dB. Proposed MIMO antennas are fabricated and characterized in near, far‐field, and diversity performance where envelope correlation coefficient, directive gain (DG), total active reflection coefficient (TARC), and channel capacity loss are simulated and measured. 4 × 4 MIMO antenna configuration provides stable gain with a maximum radiation efficiency of 91% and monopole radiation patterns.  相似文献

This article proposes a compact multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna with the electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures for mobile terminals. The proposed MIMO antenna is composed of two radiation patches in which diagonal and folded microstrip lines are utilized to control the frequency bands. The radiation patch, one EBG structure and a rectangular‐shaped ground plane are etched on both sides of the antenna. The EBG structures have been employed for reducing the mutual coupling between the antenna elements. As a result of the effect of these structures, the mutual coupling between the two elements is reduced by less than ?30 dB. The proposed antenna is implemented on an FR4 substrate with dimensions 20 × 10 × 1 mm3. According to measured results, frequency ranges of 2.2 to 3.6 GHz and 5.1 to 5.9 GHz with S11 < ?10 dB and also 3.7 to 5 GHz and 8 to 12 GHz with S22 < ?10 dB have been obtained. Moreover, measured S12 and S21 with values of less than ?30 dB for both Ports have been realized. Additionally, the envelope correlation and radiation efficiency of the purposed antenna are less than 0.09 and more than 82%, respectively.  相似文献

In this article, a microstrip fed printed dual band antenna for Bluetooth (2.4–2.484 GHz) and ultra‐wide band (UWB; 3.1–10.6 GHz) applications with wireless local area network (WLAN; 5.15–5.825 GHZ) band‐notch characteristics is proposed. The desired dual band characteristic is obtained by using a spanner shape monopole with rectangular strip radiating patch, whereas the band‐notch characteristics is created by a mushroom‐like structure. The Bluetooth and notch bands can easily be controlled by the geometric parameters of the rectangular strip and mushroom structure, respectively. The proposed antenna has been designed, fabricated, and tested. It is found that the proposed antenna yields both the Bluetooth and UWB performance in the frequency regions of 2.438 to 2.495 GHz and 3.10 to 10.66 GHz, respectively for |S11| ≤ ?10 dB with an excellent rejection band of 5.14 to 5.823 GHz to prevent WLAN signals. The experimental results provide good agreement with simulated ones. Surface current distributions are used to analyze the effects of the rectangular strip and mushroom. The designed antenna exhibits nearly omnidirectional radiation patterns, stable gain along with almost constant group delay over the desired bands. Hence, the proposed antenna is expected to be suitable for both Bluetooth and UWB applications removing the WLAN band. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article investigates a dual band multiple input multiple output (MIMO) cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (cDRA) for WLAN and WiMAX applications. It consists of two symmetrical orthogonally placed radiators. Each radiator is excited through a narrow rectangular aperture with the help of a microstrip line. For higher mode excitation, the proposed structure uses dual segment DRA which apparently looks like stacked geometry. The aperture fed dielectric resonator works as a feed for upper cDRA to generate higher order mode. The presented radiator covers the band between 3.3‐3.8 GHz and 5‐5.7 GHz. The measured isolation is better than 20 dB in the desired band. The average gain and radiation efficiency achieved for the proposed antenna is 6.0 dBi and 85%, respectively at the operating frequency band. In the proposed geometry, broadside radiation patterns are achieved by exciting HEM11δ and HEM12δ modes in a stacked geometry. Different MIMO performance parameters (ECC, DG, MEG, and CCL) are also estimated and analyzed. The prototype of proposed antenna is fabricated and tested. The measured outcomes are in good accord with the simulated one.  相似文献

A novel compact coplanar strip fed dipole antenna with a step cut suitable for ultrawideband (UWB) application is developed. The antenna is evolved from an open ended slot line by symmetrically etching out two rectangular metallic parts from its upper inner corners. The antenna has ?10 dB reflection coefficient from 3.1 to more than 12 GHz that covers the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) specified UWB frequency range. From the simulation and experimental studies, it is found that the proposed antenna delivers moderate gain and stable radiation patterns over the operating band. Time domain analysis on the proposed antenna has been conducted and was found that the antenna can be used for UWB applications. A dual‐band MIMO slot antenna with polarization diversity and improved gain is proposed in this article. The antenna is composed of two C‐type back‐to‐back connected slot resonators and offers resonances at 3.5 and 5.2 GHz. This antenna element is further used to design a MIMO antenna. By introducing one U‐shaped slot between two antenna elements, isolation between the ports of this MIMO antenna is improved further. Finally, an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) is placed below the MIMO antenna to enhance its gain. Gain enhancement of 1.5 and 2.2 dB is achieved at lower and upper band, respectively. S‐parameters, radiation patterns, gain, envelope correlation coefficient, and channel capacity loss are investigated to conclude about its performances in MIMO applications. Dual band dual polarization (circular and linear), improved isolation, polarization diversity (right‐hand circular polarization and left‐hand circular polarization), gain enhancement all are presented in a simple design represents the novelty of the proposed MIMO antenna.  相似文献

A coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed printed compact monopole antenna with five band rejection features is presented. Wide bandwidth was achieved by beveling the lower part and adding a modified ellipse on the upper portion of the patch. An inverted circular arc, single circular split ring resonator (SRR) with wide opening and two symmetrical circular single SRRs were embedded for obtaining three stop‐band characteristics. Two symmetrical slits were inculcated in the ground forming defected ground structure (DGS) to get another stop‐band characteristic. Two concentric rectangular modified SRRs were etched to obtain a higher frequency stop‐band feature. The proposed antenna was designed, fabricated, and experimentally tested for the validation of results. The overall dimensions of the proposed antenna were 29 mm × 24 mm × 1.6 mm. The measured impedance bandwidth of the antenna was 2.87 to 13.3 GHz at | S11 |< ? 10 dB. The measured results show that the proposed antenna has five band notches centred at 3.96, 4.35, 5.7, 8.54, and 9.95 GHz to reject WiMAX band (3.65‐4.04 GHz), ARN band (4.29‐5.18 GHz), WLAN band (5.5‐6.9GHz), ITU‐8 band (7.37‐8.87), and amateur radio band (9.2‐10.3 GHz) respectively. The proposed antenna maintains omnidirectional radiation pattern in H‐Plane and dumbbell‐shape radiation pattern in E‐plane. Further, stable gain over the whole UWB except at notched frequency bands was reported.  相似文献

A small‐size four‐element antenna system for 2 × 2 LTE low band (LB, 698‐960 MHz) and 4 × 4 LTE middle/high band (M/HB, 1710‐2690 MHz) multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) operations in 5G (fifth‐generation) mobile terminals is presented. The proposed antenna system is formed by two identical tunable loop antennas and two identical coupled‐fed IFA (Inverted‐F Antenna) antennas. By loading a RF switch with four output states as tunable component, the proposed loop antenna can not only operate in the M/HB, but also achieve improved bandwidth coverage in the LB. Each coupled‐fed IFA element operating in the M/HB with compact volume. The four antennas are placed on the both short side‐edge of the mobile terminal with small ground clearance of 4.2 mm. The simulated S‐parameters show that the proposed MIMO system can cover 698 to 960 MHz and 1710 to 2690 MHz with reflection coefficients less than ?6 dB and isolations are all more than 12 dB. Good MIMO performances such as radiation efficiencies, envelope correlation coefficient (less than 0.4 within the entire operation bands) and channel capacity are also obtained. The effects of user's hand(s) on performances for the proposed antenna system are also discussed. This four‐element antenna system prototype is fabricated and measured.  相似文献
