LetK be a field, charK=0 andM n (K) the algebra ofn×n matrices overK. If λ=(λ1,…,λ m ) andμ=(μ 1,…,μ m ) are partitions ofn 2 let wherex 1,…,x n 2,y 1,…,y n 2 are noncommuting indeterminates andS n 2 is the symmetric group of degreen 2. The polynomialsF λ, μ , when evaluated inM n (K), take central values and we study the problem of classifying those partitions λ,μ for whichF λ, μ is a central polynomial (not a polynomial identity) forM n (K). We give a formula that allows us to evaluateF λ, μ inM(K) in general and we prove that if λ andμ are not both derived in a suitable way from the partition δ=(1, 3,…, 2n−3, 2n−1), thenF λ, μ is a polynomial identity forM n (K). As an application, we exhibit a new class of central polynomials forM n (K). In memory of Shimshon Amitsur Research supported by a grant from MURST of Italy.  相似文献

Suppose that 0<δ≤1,N=1/δ, and α, ga≥0, is an integer. For the classical Meixner polynomials orthonormal on the gird {0, δ, 2δ, ...} with weight ρ(x)=(1-e −δ)αг(Nx+α+ 1)/г(Nx+1), the following asymptotic formula is obtained: . The remainderv n,N α (z) forn≤λN satisfies the estimate

The numbers % MathType!End!2!1!, λ ⊢n appear in the enumeration of various objects, as well as coefficients inS nrepresentations associated with products of higher commutators. A Banach space operator TB(χ) is polaroid if points λ ∈ iso σ(T) are poles of the resolvent of T. Let denote, respectively, the approximate point, the Weyl, the Weyl essential approximate, the upper semi–Fredholm and lower semi–Fredholm spectrum of T. For A, B and CB(χ), let M C denote the operator matrix . If A is polaroid on , M 0 satisfies Weyl’s theorem, and A and B satisfy either of the hypotheses (i) A has SVEP at points and B has SVEP at points , or, (ii) both A and A* have SVEP at points , or, (iii) A* has SVEP at points and B * has SVEP at points , then . Here the hypothesis that λ ∈ π0(M C ) are poles of the resolvent of A can not be replaced by the hypothesis are poles of the resolvent of A. For an operator , let . We prove that if A* and B* have SVEP, A is polaroid on π a 0(M C) and B is polaroid on π a 0(B), then .   相似文献

Absolute continuity of the distribution of some Markov geometric series   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let (∈n)≥0 be the Markov chain of two states with respect to the probability measure of the maximal entropy on the subshift space ∑A defined by Fibonacci incident matrix A.We consider the measure μλ of the probability distribution of the random series ∑∞n=0 εnλn (0 <λ< 1).It is proved that μλ is singular if λ∈ (0,√5-1/2) and that μλ is absolutely continuous for almost all λ∈ (√5-1/2,0.739).  相似文献

Let
I m is the identity matrix of order m. Let W(λ) be an entire matrix valued function of order 2m, W(0) = I 2m , the values of W(λ) are j mm -unitary at the imaginary axis and strictly j mm -expansive in the open right half-plane. The blocks of order m of the matrix W(λ) with appropriate signs are treated as coefficients of algebraic Riccati equation. It is proved that for any λ with positive real part this equation has a unique contractive solution θ(λ). The matrix valued function θ(λ) can be represented in a form θ(λ) = θ A (iλ) where θ A (μ) is the characteristic function of some maximal dissipative operator A. This operator is in a natural way constructed starting from the Hamiltonian system of the form
with periodic coefficients.  相似文献

The asymptotic expressions of the covariance matrices for both the least square estimates L α T and Markov (best linear) estimates are obtained, based on a sample in a finite interval (0, T) of the regression co-efficients α = (α 1, …, α m 0)′ of a parameter-continuous process with a stationary residual. We assume that the regression variables φ ν(t), t ⩾ 0, ν = 1, …, m 0, are continuous in t, and satisfy conditions (3.1)–(3.3). For the residual, we assume that it is a stationary process that possesses a bounded continuous spectral density f(λ). Under these assumptions, it is proven that
where the matrices D T , B(0), α(λ) are defined in Section 3. Under the assumptions mentioned above, if, furthermore, there exist some positive integer m and a constant C such that g(λ)(1 + λ 2)mC > 0, where g(λ) is the spectral density of the residual, and for every N > 0,
converge uniformly in h, l ∈ (−N, N), then the following formula holds.
The asymptotic equivalence of the least square estimates and the Markov estimates is also discussed. Translated by Wang Ting from the Chinese version of the paper published in Journal of Beijing Normal University (Natural Sciences), 1965, 1: 15–44  相似文献

For κ ⩾ 0 and r0 > 0 let ℳ(n, κ, r0) be the set of all connected, compact n-dimensional Riemannian manifolds (Mn, g) with Ricci (M, g) ⩾ −(n−1) κ g and Inj (M) ⩾ r0. We study the relation between the kth eigenvalue λk(M) of the Laplacian associated to (Mn,g), Δ = −div(grad), and the kth eigenvalue λk(X) of a combinatorial Laplacian associated to a discretization X of M. We show that there exist constants c, C > 0 (depending only on n, κ and r0) such that for all M ∈ ℳ(n, κ, r0) and X a discretization of for all k < |X|. Then, we obtain the same kind of result for two compact manifolds M and N ∈ ℳ(n, κ, r0) such that the Gromov–Hausdorff distance between M and N is smaller than some η > 0. We show that there exist constants c, C > 0 depending on η, n, κ and r0 such that for all . An anisotropic Sobolev and Nikol'skii-Besov space on a domain G is determined by its integro-differential (shortly, ID) parameters. On the other hand, the geometry of G is characterized by the set Λ(G) of all vectors λ=(λ1,..., λn) such that G satisfies the λ-horn condition. We study the dependence of the totality of possible embeddings upon the set Λ(G) and theID-parameters of the space. We consider only embeddings with q≥pi, where pi are the integral parameters of the space and q is the integral embedding parameter. For a given space, we introduce its initial matrix A0 determined by theID-parameters. A0 turns out to be a Z-matrix. On the basis of a natural classification of Z-matrices, a classification of anisotropic spaces is introduced. This classification allows one to restate the existence of an embedding with q≥pi in terms of certain specific properties of A0. Let A0 be a nondegenerate M-matrix. Any vector λ∈Λ(G) gives rise to a certain set of admissible values of the embedding parameters. We call λ optimal if this set is the largest possible. It turns out that the optimal vector λ G * is determined by Λ(G) and A0, and may be found by a linear optimization procedure. The following cases are possible: a) , b) , c) λ G * does not exist. In case a) the set of admissible values of the embedding parameters is the biggest, while in case c) no embeddings with q≥pi exist. In case b) the so-called saturation phenomenon occurs, i.e., certain variations of some differential parameters of the space do not change the set of admissible values of the embedding parameters. The latter fact has some applications to the problem of extension of all functions belonging to the given space from G to En. Bibliography: 20 titles. This paper summarized recent achievements obtained by the authors about the box dimensions of the Besicovitch functions given byB(t) := ∞∑k=1 λs-2k sin(λkt),where 1 < s < 2, λk > 0 tends to infinity as k →∞ and λk satisfies λk 1/λk ≥λ> 1. The results show thatlimk→∞ log λk 1/log λk = 1is a necessary and sufficient condition for Graph(B(t)) to have same upper and lower box dimensions. For the fractional Riemann-Liouville differential operator Du and the fractional integral operator D-v,the results show that if λ is sufficiently large, then a necessary and sufficient condition for box dimension of Graph(D-v(B)),0 < v < s - 1, to be s - v and box dimension of Graph(Du(B)),0 < u < 2 - s, to be s uis also lim k→∞logλk 1/log λk = 1.  相似文献

In this paper, we use Laguerre calculus to find theLP spectrum (λ, Μ) of the pair (L, iT). Here md T = ∂/∂t with a basis for the left-invariant vector fields on the Heisenberg group. We find kernels for the spectral projection operators on the ray λ > 0 in the Heisenberg brush and show that they are Calderón-Zygmund-Mikhlin operators. Estimates for these operators in L k p (Hn), HP(Hn), and S k pv (Hn) spaces can therefore be deduced.  相似文献

The star arboricity sa(G) of G is the minimum number of star forests needed to decompose the edges of G. Summary We consider the system(L): , t ⩾ p, y(t)=f(t), t⩽0, where y is an n-vector and each Ai, B(t) are n × n matrices. System(L) generates a semigroup by means of Ttf(s)=y (t+s, f), f(s) ∈ BCl(− ∞, 0]. Under some hypotheses concerning the roots ofdet where is the Laplace transform of B(t), the asymptotic behavior of y(t) is discussed. Two typical results are: Theorem 3.1: suppose ∥B(t)∥ ɛ L1[0, ∞), thendet forRe λ>0 iff for every ɛ>0 there is an Mɛ>0 such that ∥Ttf∥l ⩽ ⩽ Mɛ exp [ɛt]∥f∥l for t ⩾ 0. Corollary 3.1.1: suppose exp [at]B(t) ∈ ∈ L1[0, ∞) for some a>0 anddet forRe λ>−a. Then the solution of(L) is exponentially asymptotically stable. Entrata in Redazione il 21 marzo 1975. More precisely, we show that the zero counting measures of {P n (−4nx)} n=1 converge weakly if and only if the zero counting measures of {Q n } n=1 converge weakly. A key step is relating the zero distribution of such a polynomial to that of the composite polynomial

Suppose that A is an n × n nonnegative matrix whose eigenvalues are = (A), 2, ..., n. Fiedler and others have shown that \det( I -A) n - n, for all > with equality for any such if and only if A is the simple cycle matrix. Let a i be the signed sum of the determinants of the principal submatrices of A of order i × i, i=1, ..., n - 1. We use similar techniques to Fiedler to show that Fiedler's inequality can be strengthened to: for all . We use this inequality to derive the inequality that: . In the spirit of a celebrated conjecture due to Boyle-Handelman, this inequality inspires us to conjecture the following inequality on the nonzero eigenvalues of A: If 1 = (A), 2,...,k are (all) the nonzero eigenvalues of A, then . We prove this conjecture for the case when the spectrum of A is real.  相似文献

Let H be a Hilbert space and A, B: HH two maximal monotone operators. In this paper, we investigate the properties of the following proximal type algorithm:
where (λ n ) is a sequence of positive steps. Algorithm may be viewed as the discretized equation of a nonlinear oscillator subject to friction. We prove that, if 0 ∈ int (A(0)) (condition of dry friction), then the sequence (x n ) generated by is strongly convergent and its limit x satisfies 0 ∈ A(0) + B(x ). We show that, under a general condition, the limit x is achieved in a finite number of iterations. When this condition is not satisfied, we prove in a rather large setting that the convergence rate is at least geometrical.  相似文献
