The Least Regular Order with Respect to a Regular Congruence on Ordered Γ-Semigroups

The motivation mainly comes from the conditions of congruences to be regular that are of importance and interest in ordered semigroups. In 1981, Sen has introduced the concept of the Γ-semigroups. We can see that any semigroup can be considered as a Γ-semigroup. In this paper, we introduce and characterize the concept of the regular congruences on ordered Γ-semigroups and prove the following statements on an ordered Γ-semigroup M : (1) Every ordered semilattice congruences is a regular congruence. (2) There exists the least regular order on the Γ-semigroup M/ρ with respect to a regular congru- ence ρ on M . (3) The regular congruences are not ordered semilattice congruences in general.     

Conjugate Points on a Type of Khler Manifolds

We study conjugate points on a type of Khler manifolds, which are submanifolds of Grassmannian manifolds. And then we give the applications to the study of the index of geodesics and homotopy groups.     

Inverse problem for an equation of mixed type with the Lavrent’ev-Bitsadze operator and with a nonlocal boundary condition

For an equation of the mixed elliptic-hyperbolic type, we study the inverse problem with a nonlocal condition relating the derivatives of the solution on the elliptic and hyperbolic parts of the boundary. We prove a uniqueness criterion and construct the solution in the form of a Fourier series.     

The Green’s Function in the Problem of Charge Dynamics on A One-Dimensional Lattice with An Impurity Center

In the “tight-binding” approximation (the Hückel model), we consider the evolution of the charge wave function on a semi-infinite one-dimensional lattice with an additional energy U at a single impurity site. In the case of the continuous spectrum (for |U| < 1) where there is no localized state, we construct the Green’s function using the expansion in terms of eigenfunctions of the continuous spectrum and obtain an expression for the time Green’s function in the form of a power series in U. It unexpectedly turns out that this series converges absolutely even in the case where the localized state is added to the continuous spectrum. We can therefore say that the Green’s function constructed using the states of the continuous spectrum also contains an implicit contribution from the localized state.     

Problem with analogs of the Frankl’ condition on a characteristic and the degeneration segment for an equation of mixed type with a singular coefficient

For the equation (sign y)|y| ^m u _xx +u _yy ?m(2y)^?1 u _y = 0, where m > 0, considered in some mixed domain, we prove existence and uniqueness theorems for the solution of the boundary value problem with an analog of the Frankl’ condition on a characteristic and on the degeneration segment of the equation.     

A Necessary and Sufficient Condition for the Solvability of the Nonlinear Schr?dinger Equation on a Finite Interval

The admissibility of the initial-boundary data,which characterizes the existence of solution for the initial-boundary value problem,is important.Based on the Fokas method and the inverse scattering transformation,an approach is developed to solve the initial-boundary value problem of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation on a finite interval.A necessary and sufficient condition for the admissibility of the initial-boundary data is given,and the reconstruction of the potential is obtained.     

The Level Structures of the Kernel and Hull on Lattice—Valued Funcetions and Induced Spaces

It is studied systematically for the level strcture of the kernel and hull on continuous-lattice-calued function.In terms of these results,the level characterixations of induced space are odtained.     

The existence of an extremal solution to a nonlinear system with the right-handed Riemann–Liouville fractional derivative

A monotone iterative method is applied to show the existence of an extremal solution for a nonlinear system involving the right-handed Riemann–Liouville fractional derivative with nonlocal coupled integral boundary conditions. Two comparison results are established. As an application, an example is presented to demonstrate the efficacy of the main result.     

The effects of lateral–torsional coupling on the nonlinear dynamic behavior of a rotating continuous flexible shaft–disk system with rub–impact

This study investigates the lateral–torsional coupling effects on the nonlinear dynamic behavior of a rotating flexible shaft–disk system. The system is modeled as a continuous shaft with a rigid disk in its mid span. Coriolis and centrifugal effects due to shaft flexibility are also included. The partial differential equations of motion are extracted under the Rayleigh beam theory. The assumed mode method is used to discretize partial differential equations and the resulting equations are solved via numerical methods. The analytical methods used in this work include time series, phase plane portrait, power spectrum, Poincaré map, bifurcation diagrams, and Lyapunov exponents. The main objective of the present study is to investigate the torsional coupling effects on the chaotic vibration behavior of a system. Periodic, sub-harmonic, quasi-periodic, and chaotic states can be observed for cases with and without torsional effects. As demonstrated, inclusion of the torsional–lateral coupling effects can primarily change the speed ratios at which rub–impact occurs. Also, substantial differences are shown to exist in the nonlinear dynamic behavior of the system in the two cases.     

The hot spots conjecture on a class of domains in <Emphasis Type="Italic">R</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis></Superscript> with <Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis> ⩾ 3

In this paper, we define a class of domains in R ⁿ . Using the synchronous coupling of reflecting Brownian motion, we obtain the monotonicity property of the solution of the heat equation with the Neumann boundary conditions. We then show that the hot spots conjecture holds for this class of domains.
