本文研究了两种结构的RS-MPSK编码调制方案在传输压缩图像的Rayleigh衰落信道中的性能。采用计算机仿真的方法得到了该方案在Rayleigh衰落信道中的误比特率,并与理论上限进行了比较,将方案用于传输压缩图像时,可大大提高系统的性能,具有较高的理论意义和衫价值。  相似文献

Multiple trellis coded modulation of constant envelope frequency and phase modulated signal sets (MTCM/FPM) is investigated for performance on the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and on the one-sided normal, Rayleigh and Rician fading channels. The Nakagami- m fading model is used as an alternative to the Rician fading model to calculate the error probability upper bound for trellis-coded schemes on the fading channel. The likeliness and the disparity between the upper bounds to the error probability for the two fading models are discussed. The design criteria for the one-sided normal fading channel, modeled by the Nakagami-m distribution, are observed to be the same as those for the Rayleigh-fading channel. For the MTCM/FPM schemes, it is demonstrated that the set partitioning designed to maximize symbol diversity (optimum for fading channels) is optimum for performance on the AWGN channel as well. The MTCM/FPM schemes demonstrate improved performance over MTCM/MPSK schemes and TCM/FPM schemes on the AWGN channel and the fading channel  相似文献

Analytical results for the symbol error rate (SER) of M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) in a slow, flat Rayleigh fading channel for a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system using an Alamouti transmission scheme and generalized selection combining (GSC) scheme are given. Two new receiver selection schemes, generalized space-time sum-of-squares (GSTSoS) selection diversity and generalized space-time sum-of-magnitudes (GSTSoM) selection diversity are proposed. The first provides the same performance as conventional GSC, and the second provides slightly poorer performance, but neither requires channel state information and both have much simpler implementations. The SER of MPSK in Rayleigh fading using these two selection schemes is studied and compared to that of conventional GSC. The effects of channel estimation errors on each selection scheme are examined.  相似文献

The performance of bandwidth-efficient Reed-Solomon (RS)-coded MPSK schemes is evaluated on a shadowed Rician fading channel using different decoding strategies, namely, errors-only, errors-and-erasures, and soft-decision decoding. The lower bounds of the bit error probability are found for errors-only and for errors-and-erasures decoding. For the soft-decision decoding the upper bound of the bit error rate is derived. The error bounds are calculated and examined by simulation for some RS-coded MPSK schemes on a shadowed Rician channel. It is shown that their performance is significantly improved compared to uncoded QPSK. The amount of improvement depends on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the decoding strategy, and the degree of shadowing. A comparison between different decoding techniques, for one of the RS-coded schemes, for different degrees of shadowing shows that the use of channel measurement information in the decoding process is more effective for heavy shadowed channels  相似文献

Performance analysis of adaptive interleaving for OFDM systems   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
We proposed a novel interleaving technique for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), namely adaptive interleaving, which can break the bursty channel errors more effectively than traditional block interleaving. The technique rearranges the symbols according to instantaneous channel state information of the OFDM subcarriers so as to reduce or minimize the bit error rate (BER) of each OFDM frame. It is well suited to OFDM systems because the channel state information (CSI) values of the whole frame could be estimated at once when transmitted symbols are framed in the frequency dimension. Extensive simulations show that the proposed scheme can greatly improve the performance of the coded modulation systems utilizing block interleaving. Furthermore, we show that the adaptive interleaving out performs any other static interleaving schemes, even in the fast fading channel (with independent fading between symbols). We derived a semi-analytical bound for the BER of the adaptive interleaving scheme under correlated Rayleigh fading channels. This paper develops a maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) receiver for the frequency-flat, fast-fading channel corrupted by additive Gaussian noise when linear modulations (M-ASK, M-PSK, and M-QAM) are employed. This paper extends Ungerboeck's derivation of the extended MLSE receiver for the purely frequency-selective channel to the time-selective channel. Although the new receiver's structure and metric assume ideal channel state information (CSI) at the receiver, the receiver structure can be used wherever high-quality CSI is available. The receiver is maximum likelihood for a variety of channels, including Ricean, Rayleigh, lognormal, and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels. Bounds on the receiver's bit error rate (BER) are deduced for ideal and pilot tone CSI for fast Rayleigh fading. A crude lower bound is developed on the BER of predictor-based receivers for the same channel. This paper offers insight into matched filtering and receiver processing for the fast-fading channel and shows how pilot symbols and tones should be exploited  相似文献

A transmit–receive diversity system in correlated Rayleigh fading in which the receiver estimates the channel through pilot symbols, and feeds this information back to the transmitter through a feedback path, is considered. The imperfect channel state information (CSI) is used by the transmitter to obtain the transmit weight vector for data transmission. The optimum receiver in the maximum-likelihood (ML) sense obtained from the conditional distribution of the received signal vector, conditioned on the imperfect CSI and the transmit weight vector, is derived for the system. For the case of $M$-ary phase-shift keying (MPSK), an analytical expression for the conditional symbol error probability (SEP), conditioned on the channel estimate and the transmit weight vector, is obtained, with the transmit weight vector chosen to minimize this conditional SEP. For the receive-only and transmit-only correlation scenarios with ill-conditioned eigenvalues of the receive and transmit covariance matrices (that is, some of the eigenvalues are very small), we derive expressions for the diversity gain. Numerical results are presented to compare the performance of our receiver with that of a conventional receiver in case of exponentially correlated fading. These results show that the optimum receiver typically has about a 0.5-dB gain over a conventional receiver when the correlation coefficient exceeds 0.5 and the number of receive antennas is much larger than the number of transmit antennas.   相似文献

This article evaluates the pairwise error probability (PEP) of multiple symbol trellis-coded modulation applied to continuous phase frequency shift keying (MTCM/CPFSK) in a slow fading environment with and without channel state information (CSI). The fading amplitude is assumed to be constant during an error event and distributed as Rician. For the case with CSI, the PEP is approximated using the Gauss-Chebysev formula and a tight upper bound is presented. For the case without CSI, a simplified upper bound is derived by using the improved Chernoff bound technique. Simulation results are also presented.  相似文献

We derive performance bounds for turbo-coded modulation systems over fading channels. We consider a Ricean fading channel model both with and without channel-state information (CSI). This model obviously includes Rayleigh fading channel as a special case. The bounds are extensions of similar bounds derived for additive white Gaussian noise channels. For the special case of a Rayleigh fading channel with CSI, we also derive a tighter version of the bound. We illustrate the use of the new bounds via some numerical examples  相似文献

In this paper, a novel dual-metric, the maximum and minimum Squared Euclidean Distance Increment (SEDI) Brought by changing the hard decision symbol, is introduced to measure the reliability of the received M-ary Phase Shift Keying (MPSK) symbols over a Rayleigh fading channel. Based on the dual-metric, a Chase-type soft decoding algorithm, which is called erased-Chase algorithm, is developed for Reed-Solomon (RS) coded MPSK schemes. The proposed algorithm treats the unreliable symbols with small maximum SEDI as erasures, and tests the non-erased unreliable symbols with small minimum SEDI as the Chase-2 algorithm does. By introducing optimality test into the decoding procedure, much more reduction in the decoding complexity can be achieved. Simulation results of the RS(63, 42, 22)-coded 8-PSK scheme over a Rayleigh fading channel show that the proposed algorithm provides a very efficient tradeoff between the decoding complexity and the error performance. Finally, an adaptive scheme for the number of erasures is introduced into the decoding algorithm.  相似文献

We study the symbol error rate (SER) of maximum ratio transmission, transmit antenna selection, and codebookbased beamforming in correlated Rayleigh fading channels. Assuming maximum ratio combining is performed at the receiver, we derive a universal upper bound on the average SER of the three schemes, and prove that the bound is asymptotically tight in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regions. However, numerical results show that at medium SNR, the tightness of the bound depends on the condition number of the channel correlation matrix.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the performance of spacetime codes and propose a distance spectrum computation method in fast Rayleigh fading channels. We first derive a new FER upper bound using the union bound and the PEP upper bound in the fast fading environment. The derived FER upper bound is very accurate, requires only the distance spectrum of the spacetime code, and takes a closed-form expression. Then we propose a distance spectrum computation method of space-time codes in fast fading channels, which exploits the symmetric property of the error state diagram in space-time trellis coded MPSK modulation to reduce the computation complexity. Numerical results illustrate that the derived FER bound is tight enough to estimate the performance of space-time codes in fast fading channels with sufficient accuracy.  相似文献

该文针对单径慢衰落信道模型下的相干DS-SS/MPSK系统,分析了频差对系统性能的影响,得到了误比特率的封闭表达式。首先推导了匹配滤波解扩符号的信噪比特性和相干相位估计误差的分布;然后给出了衰落信道中误比特率的精确积分式,并利用MPSK条件误符号率的麦克劳林级数形式,推导了AWGN,Nakagami-m衰落和瑞利衰落信道中BPSK,QPSK误比特率的简化逼近式。最后的数值结果表明:逼近式的精度非常高,基本没有损失,可应用于实际系统设计和性能评估。  相似文献

This paper presents a tight upper bound on the bit error performance of coded modulation schemes in Rayleigh fading channels. Upper and lower bounds on the pairwise error probability are first derived. The upper bound is then expressed in a product form to be used with the transfer function bounding technique. This upper bound has the same simplicity as the union-Chernoff bound while providing closer results to the exact expression. Examples for the case of four-state and eight-state TCM 8PSK schemes are also given to illustrate the tightness and the application of this upper bound  相似文献

This paper derives metrics for maximum-likelihood differential detection of uncoded and trellis coded MPSK and QAM transmitted over Rayleigh and Rician fading channels. Receiver structures based on these metrics are proposed and their error probability performance analyzed and/or simulated. The results represent a generalization of the notion of multiple symbol differential detection, previously introduced by the authors for MPSK over an AWGN, to the fading channel and other modulations. For the coded cases, ideal interleaving/deinterleaving is assumed and furthermore the presence or absence of channel state information. An interesting side result is that for a constant envelope modulation transmitted over a fading channel with unknown but rapidly-varying phase error (the other extreme to the slowly-varying phase error case normally assumed for differential detection), under certain practical assumptions, it is shown that the optimum receiver is of the limiter-discriminator type  相似文献

MIMO technology proposed in recent years can effectively combat the multipath fading of wireless channel and can considerably enlarge the channel capacity, which has been investigated widely by researchers. However, its performance analysis over correlated block-fading Rayleigh channel is still an open and challenging objective. In this article, an analytic expression of bit error rate (BER) is presented for multiple phase shift keying (MPSK) space-time code, with differential detection over correlated block-fading Rayleigh channel. Through theoretical analysis of BER, it can be found that the differential space-time scheme without the need for channel state information (CSI) at receiver achieves distinct performance gain compared with the traditional nonspace-time system. And then, the system simulation is complimented to verify the above result, showing that the diversity system based on the differential space-time block coding (DSTBC) outperforms the traditional nonspacetime system with diversity gain in terms of BER. Furthermore, the numerical results also demonstrate that the error floor of the differential space-time system is much lower than that of the differential nonspace-time system.  相似文献

This paper presents exact results on the capacity of multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) Rician channels when perfect channel state information (CSI) is assumed at the receiver but the transmitter has neither instantaneous nor statistical CSI. It first derives the exact expression for the average mutual information (MI) rate of MIMO Rician fading channels when the fading coefficients are independent but not necessarily identically distributed. The results for the independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) MIMO Rician and Rayleigh fading channels are also obtained as special cases. These results are derived using a different approach than the one used by Telatar for the i.i.d. Rayleigh case. The complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) of the MI is also obtained using a Gaussian approximation. The CDF of MI can serve as an upper bound to the outage probability of nonergodic MIMO Rician channels. Numerical results confirm that for a fixed channel gain, a strong tine-of-sight component decreases the channel capacity due to the lack of scattering.  相似文献

This paper presents approximate error rates of M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) for optimum combining (OC) with multiple cochannel interferers in a flat Rayleigh fading channel. For the first-order approximation, we derive the closed-form expression for ordered mean eigenvalues of the interference-plus-noise covariance matrix, which facilitates performance evaluation for the OC with arbitrary numbers of interferers and antenna elements without Monte Carlo simulation and multiple numerical integrals. We also derive the closed-form expressions for approximate error rates of MPSK for the OC in terms of the average error rate of MPSK for maximal ratio combining (MRC). From the simple evaluation of ordered mean eigenvalues, we show that the first-order approximation gives a simple and accurate way to analyze the performance of the OC.  相似文献
